Chapter 9:
My eyes slowly opened to see a sleeping Butters on my shoulder snuggling beside me for warmth. The more awake I became the more I realized we weren't at my house, nor we were at Butters' house. We were in a dusty room with tiny beams of golden sunlight dripping out onto the floor through small crevices of the boarded up windows. Arcade games were against the walls and some had melted candles in front of them. We're at Whistlin' Willie', I had almost forgotten. Last night was one of the most amazing nights of my life. I turned my head to see Butters' sleeping peacefully without a care in the world.
I began to cry as I smiled at the most beautiful person I have ever known. He was truly the most amazing boy in the world, and I was going to marry him. He shivered a little bit from the cold air and I gently squeezed him to reassure him that I was here to keep him warm. These were the moments that were worth living for, the moments where you don't have a care in the world. "Ugh.." "Good morning Buttercup," "K-Ken?" His eyes were squinted but, I could still see the relief and comfort in the spakrles in them. "Hey Ken," "Hey, you want to go get some breakfast?" He closed his eyes and smiled and big relaxed grin and rolled over on top of me and rested his chin on his hands folded apon my chest. "Sounds go-good," "Alrighty then, get dressed.
The thought of telling Butters my intentions for the man who hurt him didn't even cross my mind until I saw Eric Cartman sitting in the diner eating pancakes. Butters and I joined him, Butters was smiling with joy, but I was starting to grow anxious for him. "H-hey Eric!" "Hey Butter, what's going on?" "No-nothing much, can we join?" "I don't care," Butters and I sat next to eachother in the booth opposite of Eric when Eric gave me the look that said 'you need to tell him,' So I needed to tell him, today. "He-hey Butters can you get me some napkins we're all out," "Ok Ken," he skipped away happily when Eric turned to me. "You didn't tell him?" "How could I?" "Kenny, you need to man the fuck up, do you want to kill the guy or let him walk away?" "I-I don't know I was thinking of hiring someone to do it. I-It would never trace back to us," "Who?" "I don't know," "Well it needs to be-" "Here you go!" Butters gleamed as he handed us some extra napkins. We ordered our breakfast and ate somewhat quietly and Butters could feel the tension. "Wh-what's going on with you two?" "What?" "Eric, you and Kenny have barely said anything," "Oh, didn't notice," "Yeah, Butters we're probably just tired and too busy stuffing our face with some badass pancakes," "Oh, alrighty then," he looked a little embarrassed so I told him, "Thank you for your concern anyway Butter," with that he smiled. After, we finished our breakfast we all headed over to the mall to play at the arcade it was a Saturday so we didn't have to worry about school, and Butters was caught up with all his work.
After a few hours Eric left and told us he was going to go have dinner with his mother, so we said our goodbyes and we started our way to the movie theaters. The ride there was a little too quiet for my comfort and Butters seemed a little fuzzy. "Butters?" "Y-yeah Ken?" "What's wrong?" "We-well it's, well I-" "Butters, what's wrong?" "I well I just don't like the fe-feeling of that stranger still ou-out there," He lowered his head in sadness and I couldn't do anything but, watch. I didn't understand what he had went through. I've died multiple times but, that's nothing compared to being assaulted in the most personal way and then left there to die. He survived a cruel act that will be in his memory for his whole life. "Bu-butters," "Yeah Ken?" "I-I know where that asshole lives," I started to grow feverish and shaky, I wasn't ready to tell him. "Wh-what?" "I, I mean, Eric and I, we found out who the guy who hurt you was and we were, we were planning to-to-" "To what?" "Kill him. Butters I was so scared for you, and when you were afraid of me, I wanted him dead," "Oh, Kenny," "Eric said you should do the honors but, I didn't want you to go through another traumatic experience," "Oh, oh Ken, I'm sorry for that, but killing isn't the answer," "He doesn't deserve to live after what he's done," "Ken, I-I willl always be here but, I-I don't want you to go th-through what I di-did. Always afraid, always terrified to sl-sleep, always sc-scared to wake up," "Butters-" "No, I won't le=let you do th-this to yourself, I'm here ai-ain't I?" after he had said that tears were now streaming both of our faces. We were holding wachother tight, the parking lot was full and people could see us but, we didn't care. I loved him, and he loved me.
Butters Point Of View:
After everything I was finally back to my old self again with smiles and laughs. I went home after Kenny told me about him and Eric and I had dinner with my family. Afterwards I decided to go over to Cartman's house and tell him what I told Kenny.
Ding Dong! After a few minutes the door opened to Eric standing there in nothing but sweatpants, with sweat pouring from his head. He was gasping for air, he must've been working out. "H-h-hey Butter," "He-hey Eric, you ok?" "Yea, just need to catch my breath is all," "Oh, well can I come in?" "Sure," I walked into see a treadmill still running in the corner of the living room. "When did you get that?" "I-I found it in the basement figured, I could use it," "Neato, so um can we t-talk?" "Yeah, this way," He lead me to his basment where there was a table next to a couch and pull out chairs and a mini fridge. He gestured for me to sit on a seat and went to the fridge. "Want anything?" "No, I'm good," "Alright," He pulled out a gatorade and sat on the couch while I sat right across from him in a chair. "So, what did you want to talk about?" "K-Kenny told me," "Oh," "Yeah," "Well?" "I told him I didn't want him to do it, I do-don't want him to go through the same thing I did, same goes for you," "So you're going to let that asshole walk?" "Well, no," He looked at me with a facial expression that showed signs of frustration and confusion. "I-I got in touch with Damien," "Woah, how did you do that?" "He gave me his number before he went back to hell," "Oh so?" "He said he would g-get rid of the problem, it's all t-taken care of," "Well look at you, I'm proud," "Th-thank you, you know you guys di-didn't need to do th-this for me," "Butters, yes we-" "No, you, th-thank you," He was a little stumped but, smiled a h=genuine smile that gave me reassurnce that he acceped it.
Months had gone by and it was almost time for graduation. I wasn't prepared for it but, it was here. Prom was amazing, and we were almost ready to take on our lives as adults. Kenny helped me refurbish my basement into our home. Stan and Kyle were looking for apartments in Denver so they could be close to their college. Kenny and I were planning the wedding, well mostly me. And, Eric was accepted into NYU for chemical engineering. All of our lives were coming together. It was as if all of us closed our eyes and woke up in another time. Next thing I knew I was walking down the aisle.
My heart was beating faster in my chest as I walked down the aisle. My father holding my arm and everyone looking at me in my beautiful white gown. The lilacs hanging from the pews of our church looked like little purple clouds full of joy and happiness. The white petals strewn across the aisle gave me the feeling of a queen. This wasn't a fairy tale, I looked up to see Kenny in a white tuxedo with a pink rose and the wedding party looking more gorgeous than ever. Eric, Stan, and Kevin, Kenny's brother, stood on Kenny's side in black tuxedos with a pink vest and white shirt with pink bows. On my side stood Wendy, Bebe, and Kyle in pink gowns with little white bows. Karen stood in front of the bridesmaids when she reached the end of the aisle and I was let go by my father and given to my prince.
Father Maxi ran our ceremony with ease with age in his wrinkle and joy in his smile, we said our vows withs tears of happiness, and the rings the perfect symbol of our love. He was my prince, and I was his buttercup. "I pronounce you man and man, you may kiss the bride," Kenny swooped me in his arms and kiss me strongly with that hint gentleness while the audience cheered for us. When we broke away and turned to see our friends and family cheering for our happiness, I knew, that this was the best day of my life, and I knew Kenny was thinking the same thing.
