Stepping out of the taxi she'd managed to flag down just outside the pub, Sophie made her way through the gate of Sian's house and up the steps to the front door hearing the taxi drive off. Ringing the doorbell, she stood nervously waiting for it to be answered.

All the way over to Sian's in the taxi she'd tried to decide in her head what she would say to the blonde and she still wasn't sure, but she just hoped that the minute she saw the other girl that she would just find the right words.

After waiting a bit longer, she rang the bell again and followed it with a few short knocks. It was then she took in the fact that the lights were all off inside the house, or at least they were at the front. So unless the blonde had got home and went straight to bed, she was assuming she hadn't got back yet. Letting out a sigh, she pulled her jacket around herself tightly as she sat down on the top step outside Sian's house to wait for her to get home.

About half an hour later, the sound of footsteps made her look towards the gate just as Sian push it open and noticed the figure sitting outside her house.

"Sophie…" she said, surprised to see the brunette outside her house . "What you doing here?"

"I was waiting for you, I was worried.

"Well I'm fine, so you don't need to worry anymore." Not looking her in the eye.

"Where've you been?" Sophie asked as she stood up from the cold ground.

"I decided to walk, needed some fresh air." She said as she walked up the steps to her front door and placed the key in the lock.

"Sian, what happened? You just left without explaining and I just… Look if I did something to upset you, please tell me." Sophie asked, causing Sian to drop her hand from the keys in the lock and turn around to face the concerned looking brunette.

"Nothing… you haven't done anything Sophie." Sian sighed. "But that's also the problem. Because you and I both know that I have feeling for you and I want more. When we were talking earlier it finally hit me how selfish I'm being."

"What are you talking about, Sian?"

"I'm talking about me taking up a load of your time just because I like you and want to be around you as much as possible, when you're supposed to be preparing for a new life on the other side of the world. And that's exactly what you should be doing, not wasting your time with me."

"That's stupid Sian, I want to spend time with you."

"But why?" Sian asked making Sophie frown. "Yeah we have fun together, we enjoy each other's company, but is that all it is?"

"You know it's not." Sophie replied. "You know that I like you Sian, but I've told you I don't want to hurt you."

"I know you don't." Sian told her as she stepped in the direction of the brunette and reached up to cup one side of her face. "And I don't want to be hurt… I don't want either of us to be. So I think we should just stop."

Sophie's eyes widened slightly. "What do you mean?"

"I mean I don't think we should see each other anymore. I know I was the one that pursued this more than you at the start, or maybe the whole time, but I was just being wilfully blind to the real situation. But I need to stop being selfish to both you and myself, so this has to be it."

"Sian, please." Sophie pleaded as the blonde removed her hand from her cheek and turned around again to head to her front door. "I don't want to lose you."

Sian let out a small sigh as she turned around to look back at the brunette who looked almost broken.

"There's nothing to lose." Sian said before quickly turning the key in the door and rushing inside, unable to look at the hurt in the brunette's eyes a second longer. She hadn't meant it, of course she hadn't, but in her mind she was doing them both a favour. It had gone far enough, and she was already so invested in her feelings for Sophie that she felt like if they continued to see each other even for the next few weeks, then when it came to the brunette leaving her heart may literally break and if that felt worse than she felt at that moment she didn't think she could handle it.

Sophie on the other hand was pretty sure her heart had just broken, and she knew it was all her own doing. Maybe it had been the blonde who had just called off whatever their arrangement was, but Sophie had been brave enough to focus on all the things that could have been amazing and not been scared of every little thing that could possibly go wrong then she wouldn't be stood outside the blonde's house having just been told she couldn't see her again.

Sophie didn't often let her emotions get to her, she didn't often come across much that upset her enough to make her cry, other than the movie, Beaches, but that was her guilty little pleasure when she was alone. Now though, as she turned away from Sian's house, she felt tears fall down her cheeks and quickly wiped them away only for more to follow. She thought about ringing another taxi, but knew that even when she got home she wouldn't be able to sleep so decided to walk, only one thing on her mind as she headed away from the girl that she was pretty sure was created in her dreams.

Sophie had tried to call Sian the next day but didn't get an answer. She'd text her wanting to check if she was okay, and also just wanting to just get to speak to her in any form, but didn't get a response. She wanted to be angry at the blonde for ignoring her but she wasn't. She wanted to resent her for making her feel how she was feeling but she couldn't. As much as it pained her she understood the blonde's reasons for cutting her off, but that didn't stop her wanting to see her or talk to her and to even know that things were okay between them.

She attempted to call her the following few days as well before she finally got the message. She'd even considered showing up at the restaurant but decided that it wasn't a good idea, simply because if Sian wanted to see her then she would at least answer a call or text message. It hurt, but it was clear that Sian had been serious about them not seeing each other anymore, and even though she didn't want to accept that, she knew she had to respect the blonde's decision.

The following fortnight dragged for Sophie and even though she still loved her job, she found herself not feeling as enthusiastic as she had always been about it, as her mind was still only on one thing, or at least one person. It was just over a week before she was leaving for the U.S and had managed to get through almost everything she needed to at work with just a few meetings she needed to organise to ensure everything transferred over without any problems.

Bill had noticed a change in her and had constantly been asking if she was okay, going as far as to ask if the move was really what she wanted as he would be just as happy, thrilled in fact, to keep her in the U.K office. She'd told him she was fine, just busy trying to get everything sorted, she hadn't told him what was wrong or told anyone, aware that they would probably just tell her that everything would be fine once she moved. That once she had more to focus on, more work, new places, new people to get to know, that everything would seem different. But she knew that none of that would make her forget Sian.

It was now Saturday evening, a night when she would have normally tried to make plans with Sian. But instead she was trying to pack some of her things without success. Her living room was filled with large boxes with labels on. She was going to be going away in just over a week and she needed to have everything packed for shipping or in storage before then, but it was proving almost impossible to do, when all she could think about was Sian

She couldn't remember ever having missed anyone as much as she'd missed the blonde over the past two weeks and she wanted to know whether Sian was missing her in return. She wanted to know if it was breaking the blonde's heart as much as it was hers, not being able to see one another or even talk on the phone, or whether she'd managed to not even give her another though the moment she'd closed the door behind her that night.

She had no idea how she'd managed to fall so hard and so fast for the Blonde, but it had happened, and being with her had become something she wanted more than getting ahead in her career. Sian's words from the first time something almost happened between them at the restaurant kept running through Sophie's mind. 'There's always a way… if you want something badly enough… it's your call Webster.'

The problem wasn't whether or not she wanted it badly enough, because she already knew she did. She wanted it more than anything else she'd wanted in a long time, and if she was completely honest, she was starting to want it more than she did any promotion or fancy office in a whole other country. The problem was how it would work if she was half way across the world. But even as she tried to remind herself that it would just be too difficult, that one or both of them would end up getting hurt, images of Sian's face entered her mind and she remembered what the other woman's lips felt on her own and how her body pressed against her made her feel more alive than she ever had done.

Without another thought, Sophie got up from where she was sat on the floor next to the boxes in her living room and quickly grabbed her jacket and keys as she made her way out the front door.

Twenty minutes later, she was sat outside a smart looking house in a row where they all had a few steps leading up to the front door. She'd been to Sian's house a few times now but didn't care to think too much about the last time she'd been there.

Taking a deep breath and slowly exhaling, she switched off her engine and got out of the car. As she climbed the steps, she realised that she hadn't really considered what she was going to do once she was there. What if Sian didn't want to see her? What if she wasn't even home? Deciding there was only one way she was going to find out, she raised her hand and pressed the doorbell before digging her hands into her jeans pockets to keep them warm.

A few seconds later the front door opened to reveal Sian dressed in leggings and a checked shirt with her hair tied up in a high pony tail. Sophie hadn't seen her dressed so casually before, but couldn't help but think that she looked even more beautiful than normal.

''Sophie.'' Sian stated, sounding surprised as she opened the door to be met by the Brunette stood on her doorstep. ''What are yo-'' Before she had a chance to even ask her question, Sophie's lips were pressed firmly against her own. It took her a few moments to realise what was happening, but it wasn't long until her own lips were moving together with the Brunette's as she was pulled closer by her waist, with a hand supporting her back and she cupped Sophie's face in her hands.

Just as Sophie deepened the kiss causing a small moan to come from the Blonde, a woman's voice called Sian's name from inside the apartment, causing them to break apart as Sophie quickly turned her face in the direction of the door.

''Sorry, I didn't know you had company.''

''I… it's just a friend.'' Sian answered, trying to hide her disappointment at the Brunette taking a step back.

''So it's… not a date then?'' Sophie asked, hoping that the answer would be no, and knowing full well she had no right to even ask that question.

Sian shook her head. ''She really is just a friend.'' Sian whispered, not yet trusting her voice after their kiss. ''But, what are you doing here? Not that I mind exactly, I just thought you'd have been packing.''

''I was… but then I… wanted to see you.' Look I know you don't want to see me, but I couldn't not come.' Sophie felt her cheeks gain colour as a wide smile spread across the Blonde's face.

''I'm glad you did.'' Sian replied as she reached up and tucked Sophie's hair behind her ear receiving a small smile in return. ''Did you want to come in?''

Sophie pursed her lips together. She knew that it was cheeky to suggest it, especially given that Sian had company, and the fact she wasn't even sure of how the blonde felt, but at that moment, she really didn't care about looking a fool. All she knew was that she wanted to be alone with the Blonde, and at her apartment. ''Come back to mine.''

''Sophie, I have a guest, I can't just lea-.'' Before she had a chance to object and tell the older girl she couldn't go, Sophie's tongue was in her mouth convincing her otherwise. Losing her train of thought, Sian slid her hands to the back of the Brunette's head, as she kissed her back hungrily and felt herself shiver slightly as the older girl slowly ran her hands up and down her sides.

After a minute of heated making out up against Sian's front wall, Sophie broke the kiss and leaned her forehead against Sian's, feeling her breath hitting her lips as they looked into one another's eyes.

''Come back to mine…'' she repeated in a whisper. This time however, Sian didn't have to consider her answer. She already knew that she wanted Sophie, so it was no surprise to her, when she felt herself nodding.

As a smile spread across the Brunette's face, she stepped away and took Sian's hands in her own, tugging her in the direction of her car, only to feel Sian holding her back. As she turned back to see why, she saw the Blonde looking at her with her eyebrows raised and a smirk on her face.

''I need to at least get my keys, and I should probably let my friend know I'm going.'' She said, amused at how the other girl expected her to just follow without a second thought. She couldn't help the flutter in her stomach, at the small frown that appeared on Sophie's face and the stubborn look she gave her. ''It'll only take a second.'' She giggled, as she stepped towards the girl in front of her, pecking her lips before she made her way inside.

A few minutes later, Sian reappeared at her front door, stepped outside as she pulled a jacket on and looked to Sophie who was leaning against her car. ''All ready.'' She stated, as she watched the Brunette push herself away from her car with a smile on her face, and open the passenger door for her. She smiled as she got in, and the other woman quickly made her way round the other side of the car and got in beside her.
