Hey everybody! Riku here the Chapter 9 of TtIR! Wow, it's been a long ass time since I've updated this story. I missed it. I don't have any excuse other than I'm lazy and I procrastinate. I'm trying to update all my stories to prove that I'm not dead XD I wanted something nice to present to you after such a long time so I tried to make this chapter long but not a piece of shit XD I really did miss the icy trio. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter!

I don't own Fairy Tail!

Lyon chewed his bacon slowly, watching Gray's expression for any signal that he was going to make a snide comment. It had been a week since Gray had come to live with them and those seven days had been complete hell for Lyon. The little brat complained about everything. Everything. He whined and complained if Ur told him he wasn't ready to learn magic. He whined and complained about taking a bath with mini glaciers in it. Geez, Lyon never complained that much. He had just been glad Ur decided to let him live with her and he thanked her constantly. Hell, he still thanked her constantly. Gray hadn't said one word of appreciation since he got there. Seriously, that brat really rubbed him the wrong way.

"What the hell are you staring at, ice tits?" Gray scowled at the other boy.

Lyon blinked, suddenly being pulled out of his thoughts. He swallowed his mouthful of bacon before answering. "I was just wondering how such a tiny brain is in that fat head of yours." he snickered.

"You little shi-"

"That's enough," Ur cut her student off, pinching the bridge of her nose and shutting her eyes. Ur seemed to be doing that a lot recently. That only helped Lyon with the proof that his teacher didn't exactly like Gray either.

"Are we going to town today?" Lyon asked through a mouthful of eggs.

Ur had a particular routine that she liked to follow. Every Friday, she'd go into town to buy food and whatever else she wanted. She never bought more than she needed or less than she needed. She had told Lyon that she went into town often to keep herself sane since she had no one to really talk to at her home in the mountains. That wasn't the case anymore since she had her students to keep her company. Now, Lyon just assumed that she went into town out of habit. Not that he really minded, he enjoyed the walk to town with Ur. Today would have been as enjoyable as any other if it weren't for grumpy ass on the other side of the table.

"Yeah, we need to." Ur replied, taking her plate to the sink. "We're out of everything."

Just like we are every Friday. Lyon grinned to himself. It was good to know that even though Gray was there, their weekly visit to town was still on the agenda.

"Tch. Why the hell do we have to go into town?" Gray grunted. "Can't you just go so I can work on my training?"

Ur sighed; Lyon noticed she'd been doing an awful lot of that too. "I don't want to leave you two up here alone." she explained. "It won't take long, I promise." she added when she saw the look of annoyance on Gray's face.

That guy only think's about himself. Lyon narrowed his eyes at the younger boy. Ur has a life too. She can't just drop everything she's doing because he's selfish. Somebody needs to teach that guy a lesson.

After breakfast, Lyon helped his teacher with dishes while Gray went to sit on the porch. Ur normally didn't do dishes in the morning but for some reason she decided she wanted to. Like the good student, and her best student, that Lyon was, he offered to help her. Ur didn't speak at first but the boy's inability to do the simple task made her laugh. Lyon had never actually washed dishes before so he just held a plate under running water, put it down, and did the same to another plate.

"Hey, Ur...?" Lyon asked hesitantly. He glanced at his teacher out of the corner of his eye but she was focused on the task at hand.

"Hm?" she still didn't look at him but at least he knew she was listening.

"What do you honestly think of Gray?" he asked, turning to face the woman.

Ur was silent for a few moments, pressing her mouth into a thin line before turning to look back at him. "Well, he's certainly a lot different from you." she chuckled, drying her hands with a towel. "I think he has potential to be a good Mage but I'm not too fond of the reason why he wants to learn magic." she frowned and turned the faucet off.

"He wants to kill that monster, right?" Lyon rolled his eyes. "He's never gonna be able to do it."

"Gray has a lot of hatred for Deliora. He wants revenge for what it did to his family and his home. It's not a good path for him to go down, that's why I agreed to be his teacher. I'm going to clear away all the darkness in his heart."

Lyon stared silently at his teacher; it's like what she told him the day that they brought Gray home. She wanted to clear away his darkness. Why? Gray hasn't even said one kind word to Ur since he got there. Why did she care so much? Lyon really didn't understand what the strange feeling in the pit of his stomach was. Jealousy? Well, he didn't like when Ur gave Gray a ton of attention. She was his teacher first. Lyon didn't want her to share her with anybody. Not even the revenge bound brat Gray Fullbuster.

"How long is this gonna take?" Gray groaned. "I wanna get on with my training."

Lyon's grip on Ur's hand tightened, fighting back the urge to turn around and punch the other boy right in his whiny mouth. They weren't even halfway to town and Gray was already complaining again. The days when it was just Lyon and Ur seemed so far in the past. What Lyon wouldn't give for them to actually have found Gray dead at Isvan. Why did the only survivor have to be a whiny, disrespectful little punk?

Ur glanced down at her irritated student before looking over her shoulder at the boy trudging behind them. She had offered Gray her other hand but he had just grunted and slapped it away. She had no doubt in her mind that Lyon could defend himself now but he still grabbed her hand whenever they went into town. Ur didn't really mind, it had been a nice gesture, but it felt different now. It felt almost possessive. Like if Lyon didn't hold onto her than Gray would take her away from him.

"It won't take long." Ur reminded him; they'd already had this discussion at breakfast. "When we get there, go with Lyon to get what we need and I'll get everything else." she instructed. "He already knows everything he needs to get so it should be quick."

"He probably can't stop fawning over you long enough to do much else." Gray muttered, a small smirk forming on the corner of his mouth.

Lyon's eye twitched; releasing his teacher's hand, he spun around and pulled his arm back to punch the younger boy in the face. He would have succeeded if Ur wasn't faster than him. She grabbed him by his upper arm and pulled him backwards. Gray snarled and lunged at Lyon, not about to back down after being threatened. Ur pushed Gray away by his head and lifted Lyon off the ground by his arm after he started trying to kick the younger boy. The two boys yelled and cursed at each other, desperately trying to get close enough to land a hit.

"Note to self: Buy a large bottle of aspirin." Ur muttered.

"Stop using your goddess as a shield and come down here and fight me, ice tits!" Gray challenged, still not managing to get around Ur.

"She's not my goddess, you little shit!" Lyon spat, swinging his leg to try and kick the brat in his snotty little face. "As soon as she puts me down I'll murder you, popsicle brain!"

"Make that two..." Ur groaned, hanging her head and trying to ignore the pulsing in her skull.

After her students finally stopped trying to kill each other, she grabbed them both by the hand and practically dragged them the rest of the way to town. Ur actually had to force them to walk on either side of her just to keep them from attacking one another. That was just insane. Gray had objected at first but after the glare his teacher gave him he remained silent for the rest of the time. Upon arriving into town, they were greeted by a familiar voice.

"Ur! Lyo!" Ur and Lyon groaned and looked over at the blonde fruit stand lady. For some reason she was lying on her back on the counter, fanning herself like she was having a heat stroke in the middle of winter.

Ur sighed and changed their direction, the blonde woman squealed when they approached the fruit stand. "Hi-" she opened her mouth to greet her "friend" but was quickly cut off.

"Ur! Why didn't you ever bring your kids here all at once?!" the fruit woman demanded. "I thought we were friends?!" her eyes began to water like she was genuinely hurt that Ur kept a secret from her.

I don't even think Ur remembers your name... Lyon looked up at his teacher. Her eyebrows were pulled together and she was forcing herself to smile.

"Sorry," the Ice Mage apologized insincerely.

The blonde seemed to recover immediately after Ur's fake apology. "I forgive you! That's what friends do!" she chirped. Her eyes came to rest on Gray and she almost flung herself over the counter. "Oh my gosh! You are so adorable!" she squeaked as if Gray's cuteness took her breath away.

"Who the fuck are you?" Gray frowned and tilted his head slightly. Ur stomped on her youngest student's foot, earning a yelp from him. "Ow! What'd ya do that for?!" he scowled, blinking back the tears that formed in his eyes.

"Gray, be polite." Ur hissed through clenched teeth.

"His name is Gray? Oh my gosh! That's even more adorable!" the blonde screeched, pressing her hands to her cheeks and swaying back and forth. It's like she didn't even hear a word that came out of Gray's mouth.

"Right, um," Ur released her students' hands and sat on the stool in front of the counter. "Go ahead and get what we need. Meet me back here when you're done."

She received a "Yes, ma'am!" from Lyon and a "Whatever," from Gray.

The fruit lady squealed and waved as the two boys left the stand. "Bye, Lyo! Bye, Ray!"

"Ray?" Ur repeated, raising her eye brow.

"Yup! It's the nickname I decided to give him!" the blonde grinned proudly then screeched again. "Ur, you have the most adorable children!"

"Yeah, I guess so," Ur smiled again but this time it wasn't fake.

"Who was that freak?" Gray asked when they made it into the store.

"I'm not really sure," Lyon shrugged, handing the man behind the counter the list of what he needed. "She makes us come talk to her every time we come to town. She thinks Ur's her friend but to be honest I don't think Ur even knows her name."

"Hmph," Gray grunted and shoved his hands into his jacket pockets.

Great conversation. Lyon thought bitterly.

When the man returned with everything he needed, Lyon paid and thanked him. The two boys left the shop in silence. Lyon ended up carrying all the bags since Gray didn't even offer to help him. He was struggling with everything he had to carry, silently cursing Gray for being a dick and not helping out. Okay, so Gray was ungrateful, whiny, and lazy. He just keeps getting higher on Lyon's hit list.

"You're walking too slow." Gray rolled his eyes at the pace they were going. He was walking behind the older boy since he really didn't know his way around town.

If you helped me we'd be moving a lot quicker. Lyon scowled but didn't say anything back. He almost lost his grip on one of the bags and had to stop to readjust. Gray sighed loudly at this.

"Ya know, Gray," Lyon started, his irritation getting the best of him. He began walking again and Gray followed right behind him. "If you're too lazy to help me carry these frickin' bags than I don't see how you're going to defeat Deliora." Lyon knew that was a sensitive topic, that's why he decided to use it to get the best of the younger boy.

"I am going to kill Deliora!" Gray growled, his anger level slowly rising. "I'm going to get stronger and avenge everyone's death." he declared.

"Pfft, yeah right," Lyon snorted. "A brat like you probably won't even be able to learn magic."

Lyon was suddenly shoved from behind. He stumbled forward, the bags flew out of his hands and landed on the concrete. The bag's contents scattered all over the ground. Lyon clenched his fists together and spun around to glare at the younger boy. Gray snickered and Lyon wanted to beat the smugness out of him right there. Instead, he decided to hit him where he knew it would hurt.

"How come you were the only survivor?" the smirk seemed to fall immediately off of Gray's face. "Wait, don't tell me. You probably figured out Deliora was coming in advance and you ran, right? You left everybody else to die because you wanted to save your own ass." Lyon sneered at the look of rage on the younger boy's face. "I'm right, aren't I? You only cared about yourself so let you the monster slaughter everyone else."

"Shut up," Gray snarled, his voice surprisingly quiet.

"Can you just imagine how your parents felt when that monster came into Isvan? They were probably thinking about how you ditched them and left them to die." Lyon snickered.

"Shut up," Gray repeated, a little louder this time.

"They were probably hating you up until their very last breath. Can you just imagine it? Being in excruciating pain, knowing your own son put you in that position, and then everything stops."

"Shut up!" Lyon finally succeeded in pushing him in over the edge.

Gray threw a punch at the older boy, a look of pure anger in his eyes. Lyon caught his fist, pulled him forward, and kneed him in the stomach. It knocked the wind out of Gray, he gasped for air after Lyon pulled away from him. He bent over, clutching his stomach until he could breathe normally again. He looked up at Lyon in contempt, launching himself back in for another attack. Gray was a lot quicker than Lyon had suspected, landing a strong uppercut on the older boy's jaw. Lyon stumbled backwards, managing to regain his footing before he fell. He rubbed his aching jaw and winced; he was probably going to have a bruise there.

It was Lyon's turn to attack. He ran at him, ducking under Gray's fist and sweeping the boy off his feet. Gray landed on the concrete with a thud, crying out from surprise. In a matter of seconds, Lyon was on top of him, pinning the younger boy's arms down with his knees. Gray's head now vulnerable, the older boy punched him. Lyon repeatedly struck Gray's face, a smirk beginning to form on the corner of his mouth. He'd wanted to bash in Gray's smug face ever since he met him. Now, he was finally getting to.

Lyon continued to pound away on Gray's head, ignoring the crowd of people who had surrounded them. After making sure the younger boy would have a black eye, Lyon pulled his fist back and rammed it directly into Gray's nose. Blood exploded out of both his nostrils and trickled down his face to mix with the blood leaking out of his busted lips. Lyon was going to see if he could actually break the younger's boy's nose when something unexpected happened. Gray was crying. The tears streamed down his cheeks and he stared up at the older boy with a pitiful expression. A twinge of guilt began to tug at Lyon's stomach, he loosened his hold on Gray's arms but soon regretted it.

Gray managed to pull his arms free and throw Lyon off of him. Lyon managed to catch himself before face planting the concrete but before he could get up Gray was already on him. The younger grabbed fistfuls of Lyon's hair and slammed his head into the ground. Lyon cried out, it wouldn't have been so bad if there wasn't a giant, sharp rock digging into his forehead. Gray continued his assault, managing to create a large gash in the older boy's forehead as well as bust up his nose. The blood from the gash on his forehead rolled down into his eyes, making Lyon shut his eyes tightly. There was a loud ringing in his ears and his whole skull was throbbing.

Lyon pushed himself up, flinging Gray off of his back. The younger boy landed on his side and before he knew it a hard kick hit him directly in the stomach. The wind escaped his lunges and he fought for breath while the older boy kicked him in the ribs, in the chest, and even in the legs. Gray forced himself to look up at his attacker; Lyon had blood all over his face. The wound on his head was bleeding a lot, coating his eye lids in the dark liquid. There were other bleeding cuts on his face and his nose was still gushing. The two boys made eye contact and Lyon stomped his foot on Gray's head. The younger boy cried out but Lyon didn't stop. It was like he was trying to make Gray's head cave in.

Gray blinked the tears and blood out of his eyes; he rolled away from Lyon and quickly pushed himself up. Before the older boy could attack again, Gray launched himself at him. He tackled Lyon to the ground and punched him in the ribs. Lyon hissed and managed to flip their positions, aiming strong punches at the younger's boys face. The two rolled around on the snowy ground, wrestling one another to be on top. Lyon managed to pin Gray's arms down again when a voice called out to them.

"Lyon! Gray!"

Lyon froze, eyes widening and heart beating rapidly in his chest. Gray took Lyon's hesitation as an opportunity to knock him off. Their positions flipped again and this time Gray mauled Lyon's face. The older boy threw his arms over his face to protect himself against Gray's attacks. Suddenly Gray was pulled off of him and he peeked out from behind his barrier.

Ur had pulled the younger boy off and she reached down to pull Lyon to his feet. Lyon staggered and grabbed his teacher's leg to steady himself. His teacher was looking at the crowd around them, he could hear them murmuring.

"Those are the Ice Mage's kids?"

"I thought they were her students?"

"Whatever they are they're completely nuts."

"I thought Ur was a good Mage?"

"Guess not if this is how she trains young Mages. They'll be destroying the town before we know it."

Shame and regret took over all of Lyon's senses. He hurried to collect the items that had fallen out of the shopping bags. By the time he was done he saw Ur pushing her way through the crowd with Gray right behind her. Lyon ran to catch up with them, when he did, he fell into step beside Gray. They silently walked behind their teacher until they began to climb the mountain path back to their home.

"I'm disappointed." was all Ur said but it was enough to feel like someone stabbed Lyon in the heart with a knife. Even Gray lowered his head in shame.

"Ur-" Lyon tried to explain himself but she cut him off.

"So I was at the fruit stand when this man comes up to me and tells me that my sons are fighting in the middle of town."

Sons? That was the first time Ur had ever referred to them as her children. Hearing her call them that just made the guilt that much greater. Even Gray looked like he regretted what had taken place.

"Care to explain what that was about?" she prompted.

"It was my fault," Lyon admitted. "I said some pretty mean things to Gray that I shouldn't have."

"No, I pushed you and made you drop the bags." Gray sighed. "I should've helped you carry them."

Ur was silent for a little while after their confessions. "We won't be training today." she told them. "I think you've done enough."

"Yes, ma'am." Lyon and Gray whispered in unison.

After everything that took place, the atmosphere around the three of them seemed to get a lot colder.

End of Chapter 9!

That was certainly an adventure, wouldn't you say? Lyon and Gray tried to kill each other in the middle of town. But they did have a big confessing moment at the end so could this mean possible friendship? No, I don't think so. It's too early for friendship. XD They were just both feeling guilty about embarrassing Ur. Even Gray has some morals. I was going to continue to when they got back home but I decided to go ahead and end it. Suspense? Nah, I'm just lazy XD

I have a question for you. Out of everyone so far, who is your favorite? I need to know if I'm doing a good job portraying the characters. My favorite is probably the fruit stand lady XD Lyo and Ray. She's a genius. I love all of them but there's just something about that blonde fruit woman XD

Until next time! Stay icy!
