I'm sorry that this chapter is late! I meant for it to be out on New Year's Day… but that didn't happen. So here it is! Chapter 9 for all of you guys who have waited ever so patiently for me to get this one out! Thank you all for that! -.-'

And sorry for the short length.

"How long is she going to sleep?" Optimus asked quietly, trying not to wake the human sleeping on a berth not too far away.

"In all honesty, I don't know." The medic sighed before turning to look at Optimus. "I've run all the scans I can think of and have yet to come to a conclusion. The only thing we can do is assume she has a spark and is somehow bound to the twins."

"As far as we know humans do not have sparks, Ratchet." Optimus stated calmly.

"Theoretically, they might." Ratchet subspaced a data pad and opened a file for Optimus to see. "They all refer to a soul and how it is the center of their being, or the part of themselves that controls who they are. What if, and this is just speculation, but what if they do have sparks; Just in a different form than our own."

"Different how?" Optimus took the data pad that Ratchet had offered him.

"Different as in what if their sparks are spread evenly throughout their entire body? Our sparks are kept in a casing to protect them, but a human wouldn't need that. Not when their entire body is the casing. Our sparks are the parts of ourselves that hold our personalities and emotions, who we are. Without a spark we are just moving, speaking computers. That is what humans refer to their souls as being." Ratchet's voice seemed to take on an excited tilt as he explained his reasoning. "What if their souls are their sparks?"

Optimus was silent as he read over the data that Ratchet had collected. It was entirely possible and the spark reading would be lower than any reading that signified life in a Cybertronian.

"Ratchet, have you tried scanning for a spark at the lowest setting possible, like the setting for a recently faded spark?"

Ratchet, the greatest medic that Cybertron had known in over a millennia froze and then almost slapped himself.

"I will take that as a no." Optimus observed, before dodging a well-aimed smack on the shoulder.

"Why didn't I think of that?" Ratchet growled. "Of all the things I've thought of trying, why didn't I think of that!?"

Optimus tried to hide his amusement at the medic's ranting, but failed miserably. So he stood beside the medic with barely contained laughter.

"Oh shove it up your tailpipe." Ratchet griped as he set the scanner on its lowest possible setting and ran it over Chi. "There it is! A spark, it looks like it is spread throughout the body… just like I thought!"

"So, Chi does indeed have a spark?" Optimus was slowly inching away from the now excited medic.

"Yes, her and every other human on this planet." Ratchet crowed as he turned to look at Optimus. "This explains why she could have a bond with the twins!"

"But not how." Optimus stated seriously, bringing Ratchet's level of excitement down several notches.

"Exactly, but we can figure that part out now that we know for a fact that she does have a spark."

"Have a… what?" Chi's voice came from the berth she had been resting peacefully on until Ratchet's outburst. "Wait, before you explain that part; are the twins okay?"

"They are stable but still in stasis." Ratchet somehow went from giddy excitement to instant medic in a fraction of a second.

Chi nodded slowly, her eyes-which had not been glowing when Ratchet and Optimus had looked at her, began to glow dimly again.

"Now, about the spark thing?"

"We just discovered that humans have sparks." Ratchet stated calmly. "And I believe it is what they all refer to as their souls."

"Okay, and that doesn't explain how I have a what?"

"A bond." Ratchet stated simply. "With the twins."

The temperature in the room seemed to drop with Ratchet's statement as Chi processed his words. The curiosity on her features changed slowly and a scowl covered her face.

"How can a human possibly gain a bond with Cybertronians?" Chi asked in a deceptively calm voice.

"We don't know, but we are working on it." Ratchet replied cautiously, Chi's mood had changed in an instant from calm curiosity to confused and worried anger.

Chi could be rather vicious when she was angry, confused, and worried. He had repaired many bots that had driven her to this point and did not want to be the next on her list.

"Trust me, Ratchet; there is no way we did this on purpose." Chi stated just as calmly as before, though her eyes did flash with a violent light.

"I know that Chi." Ratchet replied and glanced at Optimus, who was watching the conversation with extreme caution. "We are doing our best to figure this out."

Chi only watched him with dimly glowing blue eyes. They had regained the glow shortly after she woke and had yet to stop.

"Good, because I am trying to stay calm right now." She finally stated after several tense seconds. "It's only getting more difficult to do so."

"Why?" Optimus asked simply, though he did step forward in a motion that caused Chi to look over at him sharply. Taking her focus off of Ratchet and putting Optimus himself under the heat of her stare.

"Because." She stated slowly as her eyes took on a red glow around the edges. "The longer the twins are unconscious the angrier I get. They aren't the only ones who have a dark protective side anymore."

Chi's eyes continued to slowly turn a smoldering red.

"They aren't the only gladiators in the ranks now."
