I own nothing from Naruto.
Please Read and Review.
Kakashi glanced down at the unconscious girl in his arms for what felt like the hundredth time since they started traveling again and her condition had not changed. They had stopped many times for Sakura to check on her and give her more of the antidote she had made before they continued traveling. At this point they were almost to Niriko and Kimiharo offered them to stay until Hazel woke up. Kakashi had wanted to refuse but since Sakura was the Med-nin on the team, she said it would be best that they wait for Hazel Marie to wake up before they make the trip back to Konoha so Kakashi reluctantly agreed.
When they finally reached Kimiharo's compound in Niriko, he led them to a room with four futons with a divider in the middle so the girls could have some privacy. They all got cleaned up and servants brought food for them since Kakashi refused to let Hazel Marie be left alone while she recovered. Sakura refused to let either male past the divider to see Hazel when she went to clean her wounds, but would not say why.
The next couple days, there was no reactions from Hazel Marie and it worried all of Team 7. Sakura started to feel like she failed her team thinking the antidote did nothing but calm her spasms. They were too far to summon Tsunade, but Sakura refused to let them start heading back in case it was more harm to Hazel than good.
"I'll be back," Sakura spoke quietly. "I'm going to see if I can get some herbs for her fever."
"I'll go with you," Naruto spoke before following her out, leaving Kakashi alone on the opposite side of the divider from Hazel.
He walked around the divider to check on her and frowned. She was in just a bra and her shorts with a heavy bandage on her injured leg and a wet cloth on her brow. Kakashi could see her chest rapidly moving with her shallow breaths and sighed. He walked over and sat near her as he grabbed one of the clothes that was next to the cool water and placed that on her bare stomach before using another rag to pat down the burning skin of her head and shoulders, unsure of what else he could do while Sakura looked for the herbs she need.
Kakashi sighed and ran a hand through his hair. It had been a long time since he felt completely useless. The sound of a deep breath being taken made Kakashi look back at Hazel Marie and was surprised to see her dual-colored eyes open slowly.
"Hazel?" Kakashi spoke quietly and she tired her head slightly as she looked at him. "How are you feeling?"
"Miserable..." She forced out, her voice weak. "What... happened...?"
"You had been poisoned. After Sakura gave you the antidote she made, you fell unconscious. We made the choice to continue the mission as quickly and safely as possible. It has been three days since then."
"So... we are... in Niriko?"
"Yes."
"Can I get some water?" Kakashi grabbed the water bottle bear her and helped her sit up slightly so she could drink easily. "Thanks."
"Kakashi?" Sakura called as the main door opened.
"I'm here."
"I told you not to come over... Hazel Marie, you're awake!" Sakura rushed over and felt her head. "Your fever broke... But you were so hot only a few minutes ago..."
"I put fresh wet clothes on her," Kakashi spoke calmly as he got to his feet and turned away from them.
"Thanks Kakashi," Sakura spoke as Kakashi walked around the divider to see Naruto eating a bowl of ramen.
"So what now? Now that Hazel Marie is awake?" Naruto asked as Kakashi sat next to him and grabbed one of the bowls of ramen the maid had brought in.
"We head home," Kakashi spoke simply as he ate quickly while hiding his face. "Our mission has been completed. No point delaying any longer now that she is awake."
"She's not ready to travel," Sakura called.
"To be honest Sakura, I'd rather leave and start traveling even if I need help before I knock out that stupid feudal lord," Hazel spoke up and Naruto frowned. "He gives me the creeps and now that he is no longer our assignment..."
"Another reason to leave as soon as possible," Kakashi nodded. "We traveled just fine on the way here with hazel Marie in my arms. Now that she is awake, we could move faster because she will be able to hold on."
"Thank you," Hazel came into view an arm around Sakura's neck as she limped around the divider. She had on a purple tunic that went to get knees with slits up to her waist revealing her black shorts and bandaged thigh. Sakura helped her sit down at the low table so she could eat. "Do we have to let jerk-face know that we're leaving?"
"It is respectful to do so, so yes," Kakashi smirked and saw the glower on her face as she grabbed her chopsticks and started to eat.
"Why do you hate him so much?" Naruto asked confused. "He seems like a nice lord."
"Seeming nice and pushing every limit by doing things that I hate are different. I don't need to explain my reasons, just that I have no more patience for that..."
"Hello?" A knock on the door made Hazel Marie fall silent as Naruto opened the door since he was closest and Kimiharo stood in the door way. "My dear, you have finally awoken! Such pleasant news! I am most relieved to see you awake."
"What can we help you with, Lord Kimiharo?" Kakashi spoke calmly, redirecting his attention from Hazel.
"Well, now that your beautiful companion has awoken, my visit has changes. When do you plan on leaving?"
"Right after this meal," Hazel spoke before anyone else could say something. "We really mustn't delay this journey any longer. Lady Tsunade will be wondering why we have not returned home yet."
"Is this true Kakashi?"
"Indeed."
"What a shame, but feel free to visit any time you are in the area. Have a safe trip home," Kimiharo smiled before closing the door and walked off.
"I'm ready to leave," Hazel spoke as she finished her bowl of ramen.
"Everyone, pack up your things. We'll leave when everyone is ready."
"Okay, Kakashi," Naruto smiled before going over to his messy futon while Sakura silently went to clean up the other side of the divider.
"So Hazel Marie, what are some hobbies you like?" Naruto asked as they ran through the trees, Hazel Marie on Kakashi's back.
"Haven't had time for hobbies the past few years. Was behind enemy lines during a war we had been fighting back home. Only thing we really could do was read the few books we had when we weren't scouting enemy territory or taking back buildings we lost," Hazel spoke blankly.
"Really? Where are you from?"
"To be honest, I don't even know if there is a way to explain where I am from considering I don't even know how I came to be in these lands in the first place."
"Strange," Sakura frowned.
"Did you guys see that meteor hit last week? It shook my place when it hit outside the village," Naruto asked excitedly.
"I remember several people complain about dust entering their homes that day, but no one really knew what happened," Sakura spoke thoughtfully. "Do you know Kakashi?"
"It was no meteor that day. That was the day Hazel Marie arrived to these lands."
"Wait, that was Hazel Marie? No way, how would you have survive the impact? Chouji said it was a burning rock..."
"Anything that goes through the sky starts to burn. That is why meteors burn when coming into the sky. Like I said, I don't understand how I came to the Five Nations. The size of the crater I woke up in was deep but I was not injured from the fall."
"Weird," Naruto frowned as Hazel Marie laid her head on Kakashi's shoulder and sighed. "You okay?"
"Yeah, just weak and tired. I'll be fine once I recover."
