Let's Go to the Beach (Maka's peer pressure at it's finest)

Maka was in a house, in the kitchen cooking dinner. She was expertly working the stoves as she prepared dinner. The aroma's of well prepared food seemed to stir everyone in the house as Maka heard the little pitter patter of feet.

"What are you making tonight Mama?" Maka heard the voice of a young boy, maybe around the age of 10 ask.

"I think a pasta soaked in a white wine sauce with some shrimp, clams and a dash of garlic." Maka said smiling.

"That sounds yummy Mama!" She heard the voice of a little girl say. Maka was paying attention to her cooking so she had yet had a chance to turn around because she was preparing their meal. When Maka turned around for the first time she saw her gorgeous children a five year old girl who looked exactly like her mother, bright emerald eyes and blonde hair in pigtails. Maka then brought her gaze to her son, who was the spitting image of his father. Maka smiled to herself as she saw the same eyes she loved so much look at her with a curious glint to them.

"Of course it would be yummy, do you think I would prepare something yucky for my angels?" Maka asked as she ruffled their hair, her son fusing over it slightly. That's when Maka felt someone wrap their arms around her waist and kiss the part of her neck where her shoulder meet her neck on both sides.

"It smells great." He said by her ear making it tickle slightly. Maka smiled as she felt his breath trickle down her neck.

"Ew get a room!" Their son said scrunching his face.

"Don't do that, you're face will get stuck like that." The mystery man said coming out from behind Maka, putting down his mask on the table as he picked up his daughter and brought her down in his lap. Maka watched him play with her children making them smile and laugh as a tear escaped from her eye.

"You're nothing like my father." She said suddenly getting his attention. He picked up their daughter, placing her down on the chair again as he went to Maka, placing his forehead on hers, arms snaking their way around her waist as his eyes bore into hers.

"I will never be like your father... because I will love you forever." He said as he leaned in to kiss her.

Kid woke up the next morning to the smell of strawberries. He buried his head deeper into the intoxicating smell when he felt hair tickling his nose. He scrunched his nose against the air as he went through his confusion as to when there was someone sleeping next to him with soft strawberry smelling hair. He opened both of his eyes and peered down at the brown/blonde hair that he was meet with. He let his eyes stray down the figure next to him when he realized Maka was sleeping next to him, her head was on his chest and she was holding onto his shirt as he slept. Her breath tickled his neck as she was still sleeping, a face in perfect calm. Kid didn't know what to feel in this situation as he continued to look down to realize that she was indeed wearing the same outfit as yesterday. So she had to have come in here on her free will and slept next to him and she must have come home later than he expected because he didn't remember her walking in. Kid went to go and remove his arms from around her body to get up when he felt Maka clutch onto his shirt tighter eyes scrunching as if she were about to wake up, so in a panic Kid pretended to be asleep(*1*).

Maka was encompassed in a warmth that was so unbelievable that she wanted to cry out in distress when it tried to move away from her. She then felt herself being pulled from her sweet dream as she woke up. She stopped a moment as she realized where she was sleeping, tensing slightly before relaxing in his arms once more. Maka went up and reached for Kid's face as the memories of how she got into this position rushed into her mind. She laid her hand down on his cheek as she rubbed circles over it before the other one went to her neck. She wiggled out of Kid's grasp so she was just out of his warm reach. It's just because of those idiots, that's why you're thinking of this! Maka reasoned to herself as she looked down at Kid once more. She got up off the bed and stood by the edge for a moment. Kid's a great guy, he's the perfect gentleman, but there's never been anything there... this is all Liz, Patty and Blair's fault! Maka challenged as she made the resolve to go away from the bed and never turn back.

She took two steps before turning back around.

Maka crawled cautiously on Kid's bed before going and planting a kiss on his forehead. It was short and sweet before she went to rest her head on his for a moment. "Nothing like my father..." She mumbled as she got up off the bed, leaving the room to go take a shower.

Kid sat up in bed the moment he heard the door click shut. He put his hand over his forehead as he starred up at the ceiling. "Who is it?" He asked referring to the fan, one of the only other objects in his room. "Am I not like her father... or is Soul?" He asked groaning slightly before he went to get out of bed, hearing the water rushing from Maka's bathroom in the shower. He went to get up out of bed when he noticed something new on his bedside table. There sat a scrap book featuring Kid and Maka on the cover. Kid grabbed the notebook and began to flip through the pages, spending his time looking at them until he had to get up to prepare breakfast.

Maka was walking downstairs after her shower when she saw Kid was in the kitchen. She stiffened slightly before Kid spoke, "How was your dinner with Soul last night, I wasn't able to catch you when you walked in." Kid said as he flipped the pancakes. Maka relaxed slightly feeling that Kid didn't wake up in time to see her.

"You didn't?" She asked.

"Yeah, I fell asleep too early." He said. So he must not have remembered what he did last night, Maka thought to herself as she sat down.

"Well, it was great!" Maka said happily not noticing Kid's shoulder's sinking slightly. "He took me out to dinner- which he did pay for fully!" Maka added.

"That should have been a given." Kid said simply.

"Well it seemed you had a pretty low faith in him." Maka teased trying to get Kid to turn around and look at her instead of having the conversation revolve around her talking to his back.

"Aim low and you won't be disappointed." Kid said simply. Maka paused for a minute face in slight downcast.

"Is that really how you think? Did you aim low in your expectations of living with me for a month?" She asked feeling hurt. Kid stiffened and turned around to face her.

"Never... I honestly used to think like that too... for the longest time I thought really to be prepared for everyone I ever meet to be under me seeing as I am a level above everyone already, but you see... I can't think that way anymore..." He walked away from the stove to crouch down in from of Maka so he could look up into her eyes. "I should not have said anything like that, what I should have said was something along the lines of 'be prepared for everything.' You wanna know what stopped me from thinking that way? I stopped thinking that way when I saw an obnoxious blue haired idiot hold his own against a God all be it not very well, but still good enough to make me realize that even if I'm a level above people, there are still people that can reach my level and I am nothing more than something that takes away souls." He said simply shrugging his shoulders.

Maka said nothing so Kid kneeled in front of her and grabbed her hands and put them in his as he looked up into her eyes. "I never expected you to influence me this much... I wasn't prepared for you to do some crazy things to my life, but did I ever consider you as something to disappoint me? I could never do that, you are to pure and smart and beautiful and symmetrical and just overall a kind person and I could never be disappointed because of you... have you looked around? Have you seen what you do to people? To Soul, to Chrona, to me?" He asked pausing for a moment before he leaned his forehead against hers and looked up into her eyes. "You bring smiles and joy to people who have probably never had joy like this in their lives... you are a perfect human being and I would never be disappointed with you." He said trying to convince her of everything he was saying.

This is the point when Maka noticed how close they were. She didn't want to pull away so she leaned in further pressing her forehead to his and closing her eyes as she felt his breath tickle her cheeks. He brought his hands up to either side of her face and rubbed his thumb across her cheeks. She opened her eyes once more as she looked into Kids eyes to see if he were lying. She thought she noticed Kid questioning something as his eyes were slightly clouded over and examining her face for any signs to back off. He went to move in closer when they heard Chrona scream.

"PAPA BREAKFAST IS ON FIRE!" Kid rushed to the pancakes, that were indeed on fire, trying to put it out leaving a stunned Maka still in her seat, leaning foreword slightly at the absence of Kid in front of her.

It's all in your head, she told herself, he's being kind to you, those girls are insane...

But he's still nothing like my father.

Its been two days since Maka and Kid had their moment in the kitchen and during that time two things happened; Soul asked her out for another dinner, Kid became more quiet. Maka, of course being the kind partner she is, had agreed to Soul's relentless requests as to a dinner with her, but she didn't understand why he would ask her out to dinner if they had dinner previously that week. It was scheduled for two days from now and Maka was still wondering whether she should go or not. Maka is not completely ignorant and she saw how when she told Kid she had planned to have dinner with Soul again something changed in his eyes. A bright shine that usually accompanied Kid 's eyes when he was around his family was slowly becoming less noticeable and only appeared when he was with Chrona more often than with Maka.

And then there was the breakfast fiasco.

Maka didn't know what to say about it seeing as she could never really make out what had happened. Maka knows that what transpired between them had only made their bond grow stronger yet she felt as far away from him as possible. Maka was worried as to why, whenever she replayed the scene in her head, she was leaning in too. Maka didn't know why she wanted to lean in so badly and she was confused as to why he looked so hurt whenever she would mention her dinner with Soul or why whenever she walked into a room she would feel his eyes on her, but never be able to make eye contact with him for more than a second.

Why did she miss the warmth of Kid's golden eyes?

Maka decided that this silence, and this awkwardness between the two of them needed to end, so she did the best thing she could come up with. "What are you doing?" Kid asked walking into the living room of his Manor to see Maka walking around in a one piece black strapless bathing suit with triangular holes in the stomach, sunglasses, sandals and ripped up denim shorts, she had her hair tied up in a high pony tail as well. She also still wore Kid's chocker seeing as she has yet to take it off since Kid had given it to her. Chrona also wore a two piece bathing suit that was a red-pink color with ruffles and different types of line patterns. Maka was turning around to put a black and white striped cover up over her(*1*).

"We are preparing to go to the beach." Maka said matter of factly as she put sun screen into a bag that was already full of beach towels, shovels, beach balls and other beach toys used for making sand castles. Kid sweat dropped.

"When did we decide to go to the beach?" He asked.

"Now." Maka replied simply as she threw a black bathing suit at Kid. "Get changed we're leaving in about an hour." She commanded.

"But what if I don't-"

"But Papa..." Chrona said with a small, cute face, small tears welling up in her eyes. She went up and began to tug on Kid's pants pleadingly. "I really want to go to the beach Papa..."

"Chrona... Papa and the beach don't really mix well, you see-"

"But Papa..." Maka said joining in, sitting next to Chrona on the floor looking up at Kid with pleading eyes. "We should go to the beach, wouldn't it be fun? Do you not want to go to the beach with us? Are we that insufferable Papa?" Maka asked.

"No it's not that-"

"Papa..." Chrona pleaded.

"I don't-"

"Please Kiddo-kun." Maka asked with puppy dog eyes as she took off her sunglasses so she could look pleadingly into his eyes.

"I-"

"Please?" Maka and Chrona asked at the same time rendering him speechless.

"Horray for you guys! You've enabled to peer-pressure Shinigami-sama's son! You have been able to control death! Congratulations!" Maka heard Kid complaining as he went to the nearest bathroom to get changed into his bathing suit. Maka turned to Chrona and held up her hand and Chrona gave her a high-five.

"You see what we did there Chrona? Women are the real rulers of the world, we just let men think they have a choice in the decision of their lives, but in the end we can manipulate them however we feel necessary." Maka said simply(*2*).

"So does this mean I get to have ice cream?" Chrona asked.

"You played your roll well, I'll let you get whatever sized ice cream you want!" Maka said causing Chrona to cheer.

After an hour, Maka was standing by the Death City beach with Chrona on her right and Kid to her left carrying most of the beach equipment. The Death City public beach wasn't very crowded that day so it was easy to find a spot by the shore and set up their beach supplies. Chrona was running all over the sand as well as running in and out of the water before they were even at the beach for 10 minutes. Chrona was having a blast on her own leaving the two 'parents' to do whatever they wanted. Maka had sat down on the beach towel, curled up under the umbrella with Kid seated next to her in a slightly awkward silence. The silence was broken by Kid.

"So... peer pressure for the win." He said in a joking manner trying to stop the awkward silence. Maka laughed slightly at his attempt.

"Yeah, you see though, this wasn't peer pressure, this was women asserting their role as the ultimate rulers of this world. I- a simple mortal girl- have been able to boss around Kid- a death god!" Maka cheered triumphantly.

"I guess that's why my father always says 'Normal people fear Death, Death fears only one thing, Lady Death.'" Kid said with a small smile as he tried to imitate his fathers goofy voice. He looked towards Maka to see her smiling slightly as she went to lie down next to Kid, so her head was comfortably rested on Kid's leg.

"What was Lady Death like..." Maka asked after a moment of silence.

"What do you mean by that?" Kid asked confused.

"What was your mother like... who even was she?" Maka asked looking up at Kid. Kid didn't respond for a moment and Maka realized what a touchy subject this might be for him. "Forget I ever said-"

"Her name was Alexandra, she was born and raised in Death City and served under my father seeing as her family was a part of the personal servants that used to serve the Death family." Kid said as he looked out into the ocean. "She used to play with my father everyday since he was born, but my grandfather didn't know about this seeing as he was all over the world at that time retrieving Souls from the Black Plague. By the time my grandfather came back home, my father and mother were already in their teens and were far beyond the point of best friends. At that time, they could have been considered lovers. She was the center to my grandfathers rage and my father did everything he could to protect her." Kid said. Maka was afraid to move or speak as she payed attention to Kid with all of her might. She felt Kid grab a strand of her hair and play with it like he does when they are alone in Gallows Manor.

"That's how my father became a full shinigami. He told me that my Grandfather wanted to kill my mother, saying that she was a mere servant and should not be associated with the family of Death. He wanted my father to marry a rich woman, not this servant that was worth nothing to him, but my father had already fallen in love with her. Reaper love is pure and undying, Maka. When a reaper falls in love, it is forever and it is impossible to fall out of love because there is only one match for a reaper while there are around 5 for humans. Reapers love one person and once they know they are in love with that one person they refuse to be seen with another person, their skin crawls at the idea of having another woman touch them or having a man touch their lover to the point that reapers could go on a killing rampage." Kid said with a slight laugh looking down at Maka, then Chrona.

"My father became a full reaper when he went to stop my grandfather from killing my mother, he completely destroyed my grandfather and turned into a man that only comes out when defending the one thing they love most with all their heart. He killed my grandfather for my mother. In that moment my father told my mother that he would now live on forever and he would have to let her go, but she didn't want to hear anything about it because she loved him probably just as much as he loved her. Being the stubborn woman she is she made him make her immortal so he made her immortal by giving a part of his soul to her. They stayed with each other throughout the centuries, nothing hurting their marriage since my mother didn't really have a strong connection with any of the other servants seeing as they always hated her for being on good terms with Lord Death.

"A hundred years later she had a son, the man that should have been my older brother." Kid felt Maka stiffen underneath him. He moved his hand from her hair to rub the small part of her back that always gets stiff when she hears shocking news or is worried. "My mother named him Asura, but he strayed off the path soon after his birth using my mother's love as something to be scarred of. He feared my mother because she was such a kind being that she trusted everyone and therefore Asura trusted no one. My mother was distraught when she heard about Asura turning, therefore she tried to stop the son she loved so much from becoming evil and almost got herself killed in the process. She was a stubborn woman, but she did anything she could for the people she kept so dear to her.

"My mother went into a state of despair and depression after Asura was trapped in his own skin. She swore that she would never have another kid again in fear of him turning evil once more and her losing another loved one. I was an accident, and when I was born she did everything she could to teach me the good things in life. We were always together, she would hold my hand and swing me around the gardens and tell me to notice every living thing around me and to notice how everything was in perfect balance and that everything should be kept neat and sacred the way it is and we have to fight to keep the good things in life. That we must value everything. I loved her so very much, and I knew that she loved me..." Kid said going silent, that's when Maka realized what was coming next so she turned slightly so she was looking up at Kid's face and she grabbed for his hand. She began to trace small circles on his palm to try and comfort him. Kid looked down at her for a moment with concern in his eyes. Maka gave him a small knowing smile.

"If this is too hard Kid, know you can stop-"

"No..." Kid said as he looked away from her back off into the distance. "I trust you enough, and I want you to hear this." He said taking another deep breath before continuing. "I wanted to go with my father to work one day to be like him and to reap a soul so I could show my mother that I was as strong as my father and as kind as her when I went to send the soul to a better place. I was six at the time and my father said that I was too young and to go home because it would be dangerous. I wish I would have gone home, but I didn't. I followed my father using a special shinigami technique which we pretty much learn at birth to mask our souls. I saw my father fight like a monster and I saw him collect all the souls and I thought it would be okay so I ran out to go and great him, but there was a kishen still on the run and it saw me and tried to attack me when I was at home. It was a smarter kishen and followed me back to Gallows Manor with my father, and when my father left, it attacked us. My mother tried to fight the kishen, she threw me in a closet and protected that single closet with all of her might. When it was over I remember coming out to see my mother slowly bleeding to death in front of me. I will forever remember her dying words as she told me, 'No one is ever gone forever, I will live on Kid... I will live on in your heart as well as the heart of all the people I have ever meet, even some who I have never meet. When you grow up to be the strong shinigami I know you can be, I want you to remember these words and you will see a little bit of me everywhere...' When I started to tell her how I didn't want to grow up, and how I didn't want to lose her, asking why she did this and she said, 'but if you never grow up, how will you find the girl that will remind you of me... when you grow up you will find a girl just as stubborn as I am who will be willing to do the same thing I just did for you now and you will understand why I died for you.' She then told me she loved me with all her heart and died there." Kid said as he masked his eyes with his bangs. Maka couldn't see Kid's eyes but somehow Kid saw hers and moved his hand to her cheek and used his thumb to wipe away a tear that rolled down her face.

"I see her in you, you know. You are just as kind as her, always seeing the good in life, your bravery makes you completely stubborn though when your own safety is on the line. You will fight for your friends even if it would cost you, your life. You smile like her too, a whole hearted, goofy smile that is contagious to even those with barely any emotion in them." Kid said allowing a small smile to cross his emotionless face. Maka sat up, her hand still on Kid's.

"You are the most perfect mistake I have ever heard of." She said as she let her hand rest on Kid's.

"Thanks..." Kid said looking up at her once more. Maka gave him one of her happy smiles before she turned to look at Chrona playing in the sand, a distressing look taking over her face as she noticed some older children going by Chrona.

"Oh no..." Maka said annoyed and worried as she went to go and help Chrona rid off the older children. Kid laughed slightly to himself as he looked up at the sky.

"What have I gotten into mom?" He asked looking back towards Maka as she went to go and defend her child. "It seems I've landed in the situation you warned me about so many years ago." He said getting up to go and help Maka. He was intercepted by about 6 girls before he could reach her though, all of them were doing the signature lean forward and press your boobs together move as they tried flirting with Kid. Maka on the other hand was having her own problems.

"Hey there missy, you know you shouldn't be walking around all alone in that." A tall man said, going to grab at Maka's butt. Maka grabbed at his hand and put it in an uncomfortable position.

"No ass grabs." She said with a glare when the guys three other friends came by and surrounded Maka.

"Aww look, Kitty wants to fight doesn't she?" One said.

"I like my women feisty." Another said as the third was silently eyeing her legs and ass. Maka was being circled and she knew she couldn't take on four men with above average fighting skills without a weapon. Thats when she felt a cool calming hand wrap around her waist, the other held her hand stopping her from hurting the fourth guy, a chin rested on her shoulder.

"What seems to be the trouble honey?" She heard Kid's monotone say in a threateningly sweet way as he glared down at the other three men.

"I could have handled it Kid." Maka said in relief.

"Didn't look like it..." He said as he laced his fingers in her hand and pulled it up to his face so her could kiss her palm. He looked around menacingly one last time at the four males who were in a shocked still. "They should know better than to deal with you my lady." Kid said looking at Maka in the corner of his eye. The three men bolted at the speed of sound at Maka's next words.

"Death the Kid, you don't need to be so protective over me, I am only the mother of your child." She teased. She then full out laughed as she was released from Kid's hold around her waist and hand. "Did you see that?" Maka asked still laughing, Kid joining in.

"They looked like they would pee themselves." Kid said matter of factly.

"God, now I know how to avoid every other male on the planet." Maka said jokingly. Kid went to respond when he saw Chrona running up behind Maka.

"What's wrong sweet heart?" Kid asked scooping Chrona up into his arms. Chrona buried her head under Kid's chin and tried to talk threw her hiccups and tears.

"These two mean boys... came and... and knocked down my sandcastle daddy..." Chrona said backing away from Kid as she went to rub the tears from her eyes.

"Can you point out the boys?" Kid asked. Chrona nodded before pointing to two boys in blue bathing suits that looked to be 12-13. Kid grabbed onto Maka before she could storm over to the two boys who were causing her little girl to cry. Maka in Mommy mode was angry when Kid tried to stop her from ripping apart the boys that were causing her baby girl distress and Kid had to stop himself from shivering at the piercing glare he received from her. "Chrona, go to Mommy so she doesn't rip their throats out, Daddy will take care of this non-violently." Kid said nodding towards Maka specifically. Maka reluctantly grabbed Chrona from Kid and watched as Kid literally lit up in purple flames before making weird hand movements and launching his hands into the sand. Maka watched as the purple glow traveled towards the two boys as skull bodies pulled their way out of the sand, first by grabbing their bony hands onto the boys legs. Maka was sure these two boys peed themselves as they tried to run away from the undead soldiers. Kid pulled back the soldiers and stopped emitting a purple flame body when he was sure they were half way own the beach. Maka laughed along with Chrona.

"Yay Daddy!" Chrona cheered.

"Yup way to go Daddy." Maka said happily as she and Chrona went over to kiss Kid on each cheek so he would be symmetrical.

"Alright you two, so how about we go and make you another sand castle baby." Kid said to Chrona. Chrona cheered happily in response, but they never got a chance to make their sandcastle as a giant ball of fire landed where they were about to go. Kid threw himself over Maka and Chrona to protect them from the flames. Once he knew they were okay, he turned to face Hydra, sitting lazily on a flaming Phoenix she created. She waved lazily down at the family.

"Long time no see Shinigami, Shinigami's lover and fake daughter." She said nonchalantly. Kid tried to launch the skulls at her, but she easily deflected them, 'tsk'ing Kid in the process. "I'm here on civil grounds reaper, no need to get angry. Just a friendly warning from an old friend." She said with a sinister smile, her words so sickeningly sweet that they made his skin crawl.

"What do you want?" Kid asked.

"Oh you know, I want an immortal soul and a grigori soul... Heavy duty souls for a heavy duty revival spell." She said simply. "I'm so close to needing them, but I want them to be fresh so I decided to give you a friendly reminder that I exist." She said simply with a smile.

Kid growled at her and she laughed. "Yes! Oh how I loved the look in those gold eyes! So fierce and scary just like your mothers!" She said happily.

"You-"

"Helped kill your mother?" The witch finished. "Why yes, I did. I delivered one of the final blows myself. Oh how stunning those eyes were as I saw my pet kishen slash through her stomach... hahaha!"

"YOU-"

"Witch?" Hydra teased.

"BITCH!" Kid yelled at her.

"Well at least I give you props for creativity." She said sarcastically, brushing off the insult. "I come for everything you love and care about two weeks from now. How dazzling it is to see that the three souls I need for my spell will be the three closest souls to him! Ha! How lovely, the lover, the son and the son's lover." She said with a wicked smile.

"Shut up!" Maka yelled as she threw a book at the witch. The witch dodged the book simply unamused.

"Two weeks, spend it wisely." She said simply as she vanished into thin air. Chrona buried her head deeper into Maka's shoulder as Kid came over and hugged the two of them to him.

"We will find her..." Kid said to then as he kissed the top of Chrona's head. "And we will end her."

1) The bathing suit shit and cover up are on my profile

2) Men fear women, Men 'rule' the world, the most powerful man in the world fears a 16 year old girl, therefore in my logical mind women are more powerful than the most powerful man in the world, that's what make's Lady Death the most fearsome person alive!

Alright guys, long ass chapter, sorry for the wait anyway shits getting real, and I know I've been doing a lot of shout outs lately, but my sister is really trying to get her footing in fan fiction and such as a writer so if you like Supernatural and you got some free time on your hands, please do my sis a favor flav and check out A Surprise From Yellow Eyes by Love Like I Don't Care.
