Chapter 8
.
"Hey, what are you doing here?"
He looked up slowly, his mind preparing for the upcoming beating. His silver eyes stared at the child before him with fear.
"... What's wrong?" The child asked again.
"..." He opened his lips slightly, before closing them again. Should he answer him? Should he not?
"Hey! I'm talking to you-"
"Yuu! Where are you?!" A shout could be heard from outside the cave.
The child before him panicked, and quickly yell back, saying that he was going to go out in a second, and turned back to him almost immediately,
"You will be here tomorrow right?"
Remaining silence, he continue staring at the child, just that this time, his eyes were curious instead of fear.
"Anyway, I need to get back. I'll see you tomorrow, so you better come here!" The child said in a stern voice, though his eyes were showing his real intentions.
The child wished to see him again tomorrow.
He wants to see me? ...Me? Does he really mean me?
With his absent mind, he nodded slightly and before the child could run out of the cave, he managed to pull the hem of the child's shirt. He did not know why he did that, he just did. Truth to be told, he was as surprise as the child for his own action. After all, who would stopped someone from leaving after ignoring them for a while?
"I really need to get back."
"...Name?" He mumbled softly, hoping the child could hear his almost non-existing voice.
He waited, and waited, but the child never answer. His eyes slowly turned into disappointment, his finger relaxing as he released the hem of the shirt.
"Yuu!" The same voice yelled again from outside.
"Yeah, I'm coming right now!" The child looked even more panicked and quickly ran out, leaving him alone in the cave.
He knew that he should be ignoring the child, but something was stopping from doing so. His existence itself was a curse, if he get near to anyone, the poor innocent soul will be cursed, just like him.
Perhaps that was also the reason why his parents abandoned him.
But the child that ran out from his cave, something about him was special.
Was it because he was lonely and needed a company?
Or was it because it was his inner child that was begging for "friends"?
Or perhaps, the child's wish to see him again the next day?
.
Anyway, I need to get back. I'll see you tomorrow, so you better come here!
.
Or was he just happy that someone might accept him in their life?
.
I'll see you tomorrow, so you better come here!
.
Either way, he had no where to go. The cave was his home, his everything.
Is it really okay to let a stranger come to your house?
.
I'll see you tomorrow.
.
Maybe, he thought to himself, maybe having a friend isn't that bad.
.
.
.
.
.
Kanda Yuu was his first friend.
A friend that he trust fully.
Everything that Kanda said, no matter how illogical it sound, he would believe in it.
Even when he know it was a lie.
.
"Everyone was nice out there. You don't have to be afraid."
"I don't think anyone would mind your deformities out there."
"Trust me, they'll love you."
.
If they would love him, no, more like, if they would treat him like a human, why would they chased him out of the village?
If they would treat him the same other children, why was him being torture everytime a villager sees him?
If everything was so nice out there, why did he only see disgust in the eyes of the adult when they looked at him?
Of course, he never tell Kanda those. He didn't want to destroy Kanda's point of view of the world.
.
"Kanda, promise me something?"
"Hm?"
"Don't tell anyone you're seeing me here."
"Again?"
"Yeah... I don't want them to know. Can you promise me that?"
"...Promise."
.
The truth was, he just didn't want the villagers to know that Kanda and him were friends.
It would be hell for Kanda.
.
.
.
.
.
"...Kanda sure is late..." Allen mumbled to himself, all the while lying on the cold rough ground of the cave. His finger turning a leaf from right to left, then from left to right again.
"Is he ever coming?" He questioned out to himself.
Allen was getting worried. Kanda had been absent for a week.
Did something happen to him?
Did the villagers found out?
Did he finally get bored of Allen?
If the villagers found out about his relationship with Kanda, he would be dead by now, so option two was out. If something happened to him... well, there's nothing Allen could do. He was too afraid to go out of the cave after all. So option one is half half. And then there's option three...
He couldn't help but to think that Kanda might really be bored of Allen and was now cutting their relations.
The sun was setting.
"..." Allen stared at the sun, the leaf still on his fingers.
"I guess he's not coming after all huh?"
The leaf fell downwards due to gravity pull, creating a beautiful wavefront as it disturbs the peaceful surface of the water. His reflection on the water surface blurred, his smilling face slowly turned sad.
Trembling slightly, he held his knees against his chest and burried his head between them.
Guess it'll be a sad night again.
.
.
.
.
.
It was noisy outside.
He heard footsteps getting louder and louder, and out of a sudden, gasps were heard.
"I told you so! The cursed brat is still here!"
No! It couldn't be!
He woke up immediately and was greeted by villagers around him, all of them looked angry.
"H-how..."
"Yuu told me." A woman walked out among the villagers.
Whispers could be heard from all angle.
"Gasp! The Kanda child is involved?"
"Oh god, we're doom!"
"SILENCE, MY SON IS A VICTIM TOO!" the woman yelled to them in anger.
She turned back to Allen, a kitchen knife in hand, she swung it towards him. Seeing that the woman attacked, the villagers followed suit. They started hitting Allen or even cutting him while he was trying his hard to free himself.
"Die, demon child!"
"You don't belong here, freak!"
More hurtful words were thrown onto him, but he tried his best to ignore them.
.
"I don't think anyone would mind your deformities out there."
.
He wanted to believe in Kanda about that.
He really do.
.
"Trust me, they'll love you."
.
Then why are they doing this to him?
.
"Trust me, they'll love you."
.
He felt his hair being pulled backwards, exposing his bare neck to the sharp weapons handled by the villagers.
"IT WAS BECAUSE OF YOU THAT YUU IS DYING NOW!"
.
He knew that he should be ignoring the child, but something was stopping from doing so. His existence itself was a curse, if he get near to anyone, the poor innocent soul will be cursed, just like him.
.
He knew things like these will happen since the very beginning.
"Lets hang him up in the village!"
"Yeah! He deserve to die the hard way!"
Hey, Kanda. I'm really sorry I dragged you down with me.
.
.
.
.
.
Everyone was cheering.
They looked so excited just by seeing him being hanged up and tortured. To think that they even cut him just to get his blood, saying that it was the cure for the unknown disease that attack all the child, including Kanda, make him sick.
How did they even come up with an idea like that?
Even a eight years old like him knew that it was impossible!
But sometimes, God love torturing his life.
After Kanda's mother feed the unconcious Kanda his blood, Kanda was getting better! Soon, everyone was lining up to get his blood. His skin was getting paler and paler, but they didn't stop. They continue cutting him as if they were thirst of his blood. His body was already covered in scars, every inch of it.
When will this end?
Say... I wonder if Kanda's okay now...
.
.
.
.
.
"Burn him! It's his fault that our children got that disease!"
"Yeah, Kill him!"
"Burn him!"
He didn't get it.
Everyone healed, didn't it? Why did they still want to kill him?
But he was too weak to even make a sound.
.
.
.
.
.
"Stop this! He's just a child!"
More shouting.
But all he could see was red. It was getting hot too.
"-crazy! STOP IT NOW!"
Does it always feel this hot?
"ALLEN!"
It hurts... The heat was too much...
"...-LLEN!"
It really hurts.
It hurts.
.
.
.
.
.
What did I do wrong?
.
.
.
.
.
Hey, what happen to Kanda?
Is he okay? Did my blood heal him completly?
I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him.
"Should I help you, Allen Walker?"
I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him. I want to see him.
"Tell me your wish."
Wish?
I want...
