Author's Note:
Guys did you see the new trailer for the 4th Chipmunk movie?! I'm excited to see it! I hope it's a good movie and I really really hope they bring in the Chipettes!
(GUYS READ THIS PART) Ok! So I'm still debating on moving this rating to M, I do plan on doing a lemon later on as the story keeps going but I'm not sure if I'll post it here or do a separate little story thingy. Also I am looking for OCs, they can be werewolves, vampires, supernatural creatures, and they can be human or chipmunk. If you'd like to submit an OC please either PM for all the details or leave their info as a review, I'm thinking of putting the OC limit at 5 so if you leave behind a very detailed and helpful review or PM I will take the time to read it and consider it :)
Ok so that's all the important stuff out of the way, now the chapter is about to begin but I must warn everyone that there is going to be more blood in this chapter and I'll give everyone a warning later too so if you don't like that kind of stuff you can skip over it
Thank you for all the reviews everyone! Here's chapter 9!
"Alvin…..Alvin come back!" Brittany scrambles after the wolf, trying her best to get her large paws over a tangled patch of bramble, it catches at her fur and clings to her desperately, the more she struggles against the stubborn bush the more stuck she seems to get.
Growling as the large wolf disappears from her sight she finally manages to yank herself free and dart after him, letting her nose lead the way as the day begins to fade around them.
Brittany frowns at the growing twilight, her skin prickling with unease as crickets start up their song around her, she pauses a moment to listen, ears raised as she looks around the grove of trees.
Alvin suddenly appears again, scaring her half to death as his eyes shimmer in the shadows, he makes a deep rumbling sound before disappearing again, fighting back a growl she hurries after him.
"I swear…..if you do something stupid…" She doesn't get to finish her threat because something catches his attention, she notices his nostrils flare just before he starts trotting off again, pulling to the left now as he falls into a soft gait.
She won't lose him again, and hurries to copy his movement, trailing after him anxiously as her nose catches the object's scent…or scents.
Wrinkling her nose she feels her stomach churn in both disgust and hunger.
Oh no.
"Alvin," Her words fall on deaf ears as he breaks from the tree line, the setting sun's rays catch the arch of his back, sending his russet coat burning shades of pinks and oranges as he picks up speed, racing for the fence ahead of him.
Her stomach sinks low as he easily launches himself over the barbwire that was supposed to save the grazing creatures from curious hunters…..it doesn't seem to work so well.
The cows nearest him try to bolt, their startled cries alerting their herd to the threat in their pasture, one near him tries to lower its head and fit the hungry beast off…..but he's used to fighting faster prey.
Alvin's jaws find their target, his teeth sink into the cow's gut, ripping it's hide clean open while the creature is still alive.
The others have scrambled far enough away to watch their fellow cow being mauled by the wolf, Brittany stands at the edge of the trees, unable to look away as he digs into his meal.
She soon finds herself approaching the fence, the edge of her vision blurring in and out of focus as she fights with something…..someone, who whispers and pulls at her mind, egging her on as she jumps the fence and shoves Alvin aside to start eating.
It's body is still warm as she swallows a mouthful or two, the smell and coppery taste of it's blood keeps her going and she doesn't even mind as Alvin rips one of the legs away to chew on.
It's the gun shots that finally draw her back.
The blurring snaps away and she jerks back as her stomach churns uneasily, heavy with the food she consumed her attention is drawn to the shooter.
A bullet whizzes past her, sending her staggering back a step to avoid being hit as the man crosses the field, shotgun in hand his face is obscured by a low hat.
Brittany stares at him blankly, her body stock still as his grim frown comes into view, a knife glints at his hip, catching the setting sun's light she barely reacts when she spots a blur of russet racing across the field.
The man turns to the wolf and fires two more shots before Alvin's bloodied jaws snap around his neck, killing him instantly.
The sight of more blood makes her vision swim, the voice calling for her to return to the kill…..to finish off the meal they hunted but…her stomach isn't happy with her and she stumbles back towards the fence, emptying her stomach as everything comes crashing down around her.
Alvin just killed someone.
Her heart lodges itself in her throat as she turns to him, watching as he approaches her slowly, limping slightly she lifts her gaze from his leg to his eyes.
His golden eyes flicker across her face, looking for something, but he won't get anything from her.
"H-how could you?! Alvin! You killed a man….y-you killed him, he was just protecting his lively hood and you slaughtered him!" Her voice wavers, shaking as she feels the burn of tears at the back of her eyes.
He swallows but doesn't speak, "W-when did you get control?" She snaps, letting the tears shine in her eyes as she takes a step towards him, her hackles raised as she lets her anger bristle through her.
The fire in her belly is helping with the anxious fear building in her chest, he's not a monster….he's not a monster…..he's….
"When he started shooting," His voice is calm, eerily so and it doesn't help his case at all.
Blowing out a huff of hot air she turns sharply and sails back over the fence, bolting for the darkening woods as more tears escape her eyes.
"Brittany! Brittany!"
She lowers her head and keeps on running, blocking out his voice as her heart aches.
She won't stop running, she has to keep going, he shouldn't have killed him…..he shouldn't have killed an innocent man.
Her gait slows as she feels her body trembling, her muscles pull taunt and she staggers, her whole frame quivers as a cold sensation spreads through her limbs, her vision blinks out for a moment and when she opens her eyes she finds herself staring down at her hands bracing herself against the cooling earth.
She Shifted back.
Brittany trembles harshly and quickly realizes that she managed to lose her clothes, her cheeks flush as she covers herself up, hunkering against the dirt she wraps her tail around her toes as she curls them into the soil.
That's what a real werewolf is like, they hunt and they kill and they don't think, they only survive. It's killed or be killed and she needs to realize that he's one of them, he's not perfect, he can't control it.
But she wishes so very hard he could.
Bowing her head Brittany lets her hair shield her face as she continues to shiver, her thin auburn fur doesn't do much against the cool night but she doesn't feel like moving, she's one of them now…kind of.
"Brittany…."
"Go away," Her cheeks flush and she keeps her face buried in her knees, drawing them closer to her chest as she hugs her legs against her frame, another shiver makes her tremble against the earth.
She flinches as something drops on her head, her vision growing darker as the item blocks out what little light the stars were providing.
Frowning the chipette tugs the hoody off her head, glaring at the red piece of clothing she holds onto it firmly, listening to his fading footfalls intently before she dares to tug the hoody on.
Standing up she dusts the dirt and mud off her fur and notices that the hoody covers everything important, her cheeks burn as she stuffs her paws into the large pocket.
"I'm going home," She announces loudly, stomping off into the dark she fights back a small growl as she hears him fall into step behind her.
"I don't need your help, go away, take a different route," Brittany chances a glance over her shoulder at the munk and immediately regrets it as her eyes land on his limp arm.
The munk hugs his bleeding appendage against his side, eyes cast to the ground like a scorned puppy he hobbles slightly, looking beaten and lost he stops walking and looks up to see why she stopped walking.
"You idiot," She scolds turning to face him fully she steps towards him and frowns when he takes a step back, eyes guarded as they meet hers she feels a dull pinch in her chest.
"You're going the right way, it's not far," He assures her, letting his eyes slide away from hers he looks over her shoulder, "Ten minutes if you keep walking,"
Brittany crosses the distance between him before he has a chance to try and step away, his eyes snapping to her as she grabs hold of his injured arm, he flinches as her fingers dig into his forearm.
"Ten minutes and your bloodstream will be poisoned….your wound isn't healing because it's silver right?" She asks, squinting as she tries to get a good look at the wound sitting higher up on his arm.
"Yeah…." He supplies weakly, flinching as she rolls her sleeves up and grips his arm again moving closer as she rubs some blood away from the wound sight.
"Sorry,"
He grits his teeth as she digs her fingers into the wound, sending fire racing up his spine as his wolf struggles against the firm hold he has on him.
His wolf wants out, bad, he wants to shake off the girl causing them pain and run off into the woods to let the wound do whatever it wants but then again…he doesn't want her following them, she'll get hurt or lost, or cold…..and so he stays.
"T-this is punishment for that man…..isn't it?" Alvin hisses through his teeth as he tries leaning away from her touch, this only causes her to dig her fingers in deeper and he bites his tongue to keep from cursing loudly.
"No, this is the quickest way to make sure you won't die," Brittany states blandly as she feels the bullet brush against her fingertips, grabbing the slick metal she tugs it out quickly and frowns at the spent shell lands in her palm, warm and wet with the munk's blood she sees something engraved in the silver metal.
"…32?" She questions aloud, wiping some blood away to see the engraving better, Alvin makes some sort of sound behind her but she's trying to make sure she read right.
"Werewolf number 32…..I would've been his 32nd wolf killed," She turns to the munk confused, Alvin leans against a tree heavily, half-lidded eyes watching her, his burning eyes glow dully in the dark.
"He….hunts?" She guesses as he nods, eyes sliding closed as he slumps against the tree, he looks like he's fighting to stay upright.
"Alvin?"
"…..Hm?"
"Alvin!" Brittany drops the bullet as the munk pitches forward, stumbling to catch his footing she grabs him firmly, her paws slipping against his bloodied arm as she tries to support his weight.
"I-is there another bullet? Alvin you have to stay awake…..Alvin!"
"Cattle…..bait…poisoned…." His breath wheezes out in short words and her heart plummets as his head rolls forward and his entire body weight rests against her.
He passed out.
She never felt so scared in her entire life, he wasn't responding, wasn't moving and his breathing is heavy and labored.
He's also heavy, extremely heavy but it must be because he's out cold.
Brittany stumbles up the stairs, her backside has grown warm and slick from the open wounds marring Alvin's body, he didn't tell her about the wound to his leg and his pants did a good job of hiding the blood until the wound became agitated and now half of his body is shiny and slick with his own blood.
She wants to cry as she bangs her paw against the door, "SIMON! SIMON!" She yells, ignoring the smeared hand print left behind on the wood of the door as she pounds her open palm against the surface.
She manages to pull her arm away as the door finally swings open and a wide eyed Simon hurries out onto the porch to help drag his brother's body into the house, "H-He's been poisoned, there's a bullet in his leg still and he won't stop bleeding…..I-I got the bullet out of his arm but it just won't stop…."
"Brittany I need you to go to the kitchen, clear the table for me and start filling the sink with warm water,"
Nodding she hurries off to complete her tasks as Simon leans down beside his brother.
"I just got you back and now you're trying to leave again….dammit Alvin," He wipes at his eyes before lifting him up into his arms and carrying him into the kitchen where Brittany has laid out a bunch of old towels on the countertop, how she found him is beyond his knowledge but he places the russet munk on them anyways before looking to the frightened chipette.
"Please go wash up, I can take care of this," He assures her, ignoring her protest as he turns back to his brother.
He's hoping and praying that he can handle it…
Her sisters watch her as she paces the floor, during the first hour they tried to calm her but she didn't offer a single response or even show any sign of hearing their worried words.
So they gave up, and now watch in helpless silent as their elder sister wears a hole in Simon's living room floor, her fresh shirt now wrinkled from her constant anxious hands.
It's been nearly four hours now….and Simon ended up moving to his study with Alvin, leaving the bloodied towels on the table and a silver bullet soaking in the sink.
Brittany moves to the kitchen now, taking the bullet from the water she feels anger flash through her at seeing 33 engraved in the silver.
She doesn't feel so sorry for the dead man now, her ears perk up as she hears the faint sound of the study door open, her heart leaps into her throat as she drops the bullet back into the sink before returning to the living room to see Simon trying to clean his hands on a ruined towel.
"He'll live…what even happened?" Simon's dark probing eyes meet hers and she hesitates under the doctor's sharp eyes.
"We ran into some trouble and Alvin had to…..had to kill a hunter," Brittany chews at her lip as she fidgets, gaze darting past the scowling munk to the closed door.
Simon releases a heavy sigh and moves over to his recliner to slump down in the crinkled leather, "He's barely awake, you can go see him if you want,"
Brittany hurries down the short hallway, vanishing from view she grasps the door handle and pauses as she hears Simon sigh heavily, the leather chair creaking slightly as he shifts his weight.
Jeanette's soft voice fills her ears as she grips the handle, one ear pointed towards the living room, "What's wrong? He's going to be ok…..right?"
"Yes, it's not that…..he was fighting a fever for awhile and he kept apologizing…..begging for forgiveness…they did something to him at that place, I've never heard Alvin apologize before," Simon's voice trails off as he settles in his chair again, "I asked him how he managed to get hit twice, why he let himself be hit twice. I know he's capable of dodging those and I was confused as to why he was hit even once, he told me he didn't want her to get hurt, that every fiber of his being was telling him to protect her,"
Brittany releases the door and stares at the glossy brass handle, her distorted reflection barely visible as Jeanette speaks up again, "I-is that bad? He didn't want her to get hurt…..that's good right?"
"Yes, it's just…it's deadly too, it's a special bond only werewolves are able to have with another being. Something that is a blessing and a curse, he's Imprinted on her and he'll gladly die for her without a single thought, which means she can be used against him…..and the people we're dealing with won't hesitate to do so,"
Her heartbeat pounds in her ears and she quickly slips into the room, letting the door close behind her silently as her gaze falls on the munk draped across the sofa resting before a darkened window.
Alvin cracks open his eyes and grunts in greeting as he tries to sit up, pushing against the couch she crosses the room quickly and flicks his forehead.
"No moving," She orders sharply, relieved as he eases back against the cushions and sighs, "Sorry I made a mess of everything, I uh didn't mean to pass out on you," He mumbles, plucking at a frayed thread that's poking up from a button.
"Don't," Brittany drags Simon's chair over and sits down, annoyed at the apologizing munk but also greatly relieved…..and confused.
Silence falls over them and the faint sound of chirping crickets fill the small study, Alvin keeps picking at the string with his good arm, the other is bandaged firmly against his chest and he's wearing shorts now instead of his pants, the shorter clothing let's her catch sight of the other wound.
"You should've told me," She gestures to the bandages covering his calf and he gives a half shrug in response, his eyes cast downward.
He's moping, Brittany rolls her eyes towards the ceiling at this realization and sighs heavily, fighting a smile when his eyes move up to her face.
"You did nothing wrong…granted it was startling to see the cow killed…..but they're killed by other predators too, and they're used for food anyways…the man I found out was an asshole," She states bluntly, crossing her arms over her chest she meets his eyes, "And you…you saved me, again,"
Alvin grins and snorts, holding back a laugh because his body is sore he gives her a one shoulder shrug again, "You attract trouble and sadly I'm always there when it happens,"
Brittany snorts, "Yeah sure…..I'm the one who attracts trouble," She smiles as he shakes his head and rolls his eyes.
They settle again into silence…but she can't fight it back anymore, "What's Imprinting?" She asks suddenly, trying not to bite her tongue or flinch at her own words as his eyes find hers again.
"Imprinting? Like when a baby animal first sees its mom-"
"No….the other one,"
Her heart aches slightly as his eyebrows knit together, slight confusion crossing his face before he finally speaks again, "Werewolf Imprinting is where two wolves who are meant to be together find each other…they form a bond immediately and they'd gladly die for their other half…"
"So you got shot because of me,"
"…..I chose to be shot,"
"You nearly died because of me,"
"I don't regret it," His tone is firm and she can't find a single lie in his eyes as he holds her gaze, eyes burning.
"It's true love then, is what you're saying….y-you love me…"
"Yes, I love you,"
Don't forget to send in some OCs! And let me know if you guys will still read the story if I change the rating to M :)
I got a tad carried away with this chapter so I hope you all forgive me! Let me know what you thought and how you think Brittany will react to this new information.
