Yuuki blinked her eyes long and hard to make sure it was Eren that was in front of her and not Levi. There was no mistake in it. It was definitely Eren. She retracted her hand quickly from his and kept it close to her chest.
What the hell happened? she asked herself. With her palm against her forehead, she got off the bed and quietly walked out of the tent. The moment she stepped out of it, the sun greeted her with warmth and blinding streams of light. The only one there was Levi, who was leaning against the wooden picnic table with a coffee mug in his hand—the steam still visible. He stared at Yuuki with cold eyes. Yuuki spoke up first. "Hey." She took a seat next to him.
He didn't reply for a while. Then, he calmly stated, "You shouldn't be moving around yet," before taking a sip from his mug.
"Mind getting me a cup?" Levi looked up from his mug to look at her, and Yuuki jerked her chin at his drink.
"Get it yourself, you brat." He took another sip.
"Fine," Yuuki said. She reached up, grabbed his coffee mug, and drank from it. All Levi did was sigh.
"You're a lost cause, you know that?" Yuuki laughed. Oh, that laugh; that beautiful, angelic laugh. It could drive anyone crazy—even Levi. He forgot about his mug, even though Yuuki was just beside him, holding it in her hands.
Yuuki, on the other hand, was looking down into the cup. "Hey, Levi?"
"What? Why do you sound so sad?"
"No, forget it. It's nothing."
"It's not just 'nothing,' Yuuki. Tell me what it is."
"It's fine. It's just a...slip of the mouth, that's all."
"Yuuki."
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Yuuki."
"The coffee is good."
"YUUKI!" Levi had turned around and slammed his hands on the table as he screamed her own name at her. Yuuki flinched quite a bit with wide eyes before regaining her composure.
"I think I should get back in bed." She got up and walked to the tent, but Levi caught her wrist. "Let go, Levi."
"No, tell me what is bothering you."
She slashed her head around at him and yelled, "I SAID, 'LET GO!'" Her eyes were hard, and her eyebrows were furrowed. She was shaking just a tad bit—Levi wasn't sure if it was anger, fear, or the urge to hold back tears. "Let...go." Her voice was a faint whisper.
"Just tell me."
"No," she said as she shook her head. "I can't."
"Why? Didn't you want to actually tell me in the first place?"
"Levi...please."
"I'm not going to let go. Just what exactly is bother you?"
"What's bothering me? WHAT'S BOTHERING ME?! LEVI, IT'S YOU RIGHT NOW. CAN YOU PLEASE JUST"—Yuuki took in a breath to calm down before continuing—"let go of me?" Her voice became almost inaudible again. He did as she said. "Thank you..." Yuuki ran off into the forest again. She still had to recover.
~Timeskip~
Yuuki sat on a stump with her knees close to her chest and her arms wrapped around them. She was breathing hard as she put her forehead against the top of her knees. She was afraid—of many things, and one of them was herself.
Another was Levi.
Actually, it was things that involved Levi, not Levi himself. Yuuki was afraid to lose him; afraid of him screaming at her again; afraid that he would judge her. Thus, she sat there alone and cried. She's strong, all right, but no one is strong all the time.
While she was crying, a deer went up to her and just planted itself next to the stump. "Go away..." Yuuki whimpered. She didn't command it. She just said it. Thus, it stayed. This proved that she really wanted company. She didn't want to be alone.
After being alone since she was three, she's not willing to push away someone who wants to stay. She may have the right to, but she doesn't have the will to. It always rain the hardest on people who deserve the sun.
Then, she heard a branch break, and when she looked up, she saw a tall lad in a dark cloak that was torn at the ends.
"Who are you?" Yuuki asked, noticing the same dark figure that threw the sword.
He had pulled down the hood from the cloak to reveal his face. Yuuki stood up abruptly. She recognized him.
She'd recognize those pale blue eyes anywhere—even if it had been over a decade.
"It's me, onee-chan, Alis."
That guy was right. He is tall, has long waist-length black hair, blue eyes, and a magenta tattoo surrounding his left eye. He wore dark clothing, too. There was no mistake.
Yuuki couldn't make use of words; not even one. She had already leaped for her brother and had her arms around his neck while her face was buried in his chest.
"Welcome home."
Alis hugged her back and replied through tears, "I'm home."
Yuuki knew something was wrong with Alis, but she decided to put those thoughts in the back of her mind. All she knew for sure was that she had missed him.
She was done being lonely.
She wasn't done carrying the burden on her own, however.
I am so very sorry for not updating in so long! I feel extremely awful! I've tried to write a few times, but I have had really bad writer's block. Also, I was busy with school and whatnot and my other stories on Wattpad. I said I would update once a month, but I haven't been able to stay on schedule at all. Also, this last part of the chapter with Alis came to me some time ago when I was doing God knows what. I forgot, you see. Not quite the remembering-type. It doesn't matter, really. I don't have much to say, so...yeah. Until next time, my fellow readers~^^ I do not own Attack on Titan. I do not own anything except my OC and story/stories.
