I don't own Ghost hunt, but I would love it for my birthday :D

Mai and Naru had gotten all the decorations and had started to put everything in place. Naru had already started tying ribbon around the chairs. Luella had said they were too boring, so they had to put something on them. And Mai had started setting the table cloths on the tables.

The reception was huge, with a dance floor in the middle, tables at the sides for food, and seven tables scattered around. There was a stage were the band would play and lights on the ceiling. The actual place for the wedding was next door. It was always made up because it was only ever used for weddings, but the hall sometimes held other parties and social gatherings.

They had been working for about two hours now, and hadn't had a break. Mai was starting to get bored.

"Hey Naru? What do you want for your wedding?" Mai asked, wondering if she should get him a gift.

"To not get married" Naru answered before Mai had even finished speaking. Mai frowned and tried again.

"You know what I mean, what would you like for a wedding gift?"

"I don't really want anything, but it would be nice if you turned up. That way I would have someone to-" Naru started.

"Poke fun at?" Mai guessed. Naru looked at her and smirked.

"I was going to say talk to, but that works too... baka" Naru's smirk grew wider as Mai turned red with anger. She then realised that Naru had said he wanted her at his wedding, and she crossed her arms and turned away to hide her blush.

"Jerk" Mai muttered, smiling to herself. She wouldn't change him for the world. Naru smiled at her childish antics, but he made sure to look away before she saw.

"Mai, why don't you go to the shop round the corner to get us some drinks?" Naru asks, holding out some cash for her to pay with.

"Fine" Mai agrees, leaving with her own purse and purposely not taking Naru's money. She was soon smiling to herself when he couldn't see her anymore.

She walked down the road with a spring in her step, not a care in the world. She was turning the corner when she bumped into someone. She was so out of it, she didn't even have time to catch herself, as she and about twenty books that her victim was holding, fell, rather ungracefully to the ground.

"Oh my, I am so sorry!" Mai yelled, picking up the books before even looking up. The person knelt down to help.

"It's quite alright, it is partly my fault as well" The man defends. Mai looked up at the man, who looked to be in his mid-forties, but had matured nicely. Mai picked up the last of the books, not realising that she had torn the mans large carrier bag. She handed the books to him, seeing him try to balance them in his arms, but clearly not too well. Mai then notices the bag, not able to hold a single book. It must have ripped because of her key rings.

"Oh! I'm sorry about the bag! Let me help you carry them! Where bouts are you going?" Mai asked. The man then looked at the girl as if she was mad. She wasn't to blame, because it was his fault too, and she was offering to help him carry them?

"Just to my car over there, but you really don't have to" The man argued.

"Please let me help, I should have been looking where I was going" Mai asked again, a bit more pleadingly. The man hesitantly nodded. Mai then took half the books in her arms and walked beside the man as he walked to his car. "I'm Mai by the way" Mai introduced. The man was shocked, even thought he didn't show it, then he remembered who she was.

"Mai... Taniyama?" He guessed. Mai stopped mid stride. She looked at the man with wide eyes.

"How did you know that?" Shock and amazement were present in her voice. She wasn't horrified like a normal teen would have been if a complete stranger knew their name.

"You work for my son, and I believe you also met my wife. My name is Martin Davis...

Naru had put up most of the ribbons and Mai was nowhere to be seen. She had left half an hour ago and it should only be a five minute walk to the shop. He was getting kind of worried. He finished the ribbon he was on and left to look for her...

"Your... your his father?" Mai questioned, hesitantly, not sure what to think. He was the one forcing Naru to marry Charlotte, and the one crushing her hopes of ever being happy.

"You seem surprised" Martin commented, raising a brow at her change of emotion.

"Oh... I guess I wasn't really expecting that" Mai covered badly, smiling a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Martin wasn't the best at reading people, that was Luella's thing, but he could tell that Mai's smile was forced, and her eyes held so much pain. He didn't know why, but this girl didn't seem the type to care about superficial things like money and looks.

"I guess running into a stranger and finding out they are your bosses father, is a little suprising" Martin agreed, even though he could tell that wasn't really what she meant. He didn't want to scare her off by prying into her emotions.

"Yeah, small world" Mai looked up, managing a real smile. Martin felt like he had caught a disease, he couldn't help but smile back. Mai's smile was so contagious.

"So, I have always wondered, how is it working with my son?" Martin asked, trying to keep her talking. He had always wondered why he had hired her, and he now had a faint idea.

"Well, he can be a super jerk who drinks too much tea" Mai started honesty, Martin nearly chuckled "But he is a good boss. He may act cold and distant at times, but it's more of a front" Mai looked down, trying to hide her blush "Oh, and for some reason he loves to tease me" Cue eye roll. Martin didn't expect that. Most people who had known him for longer then a day can't stand him. He doesn't like people who jumped at him for his looks, and he ends up being cold to them, and sometimes mean to the more persistent ones.

"Well, he can be a little rought around the edges, but that's just because he is use to people judging him purely on his looks" Martin explained. Mai had to agree on that, he had been flirted with by some of the clients, and even Ayako and her friends when they had first met.

"Yeah, when we first met thought, he was purposefully pretending to be nice to try get information on the school-house. My friends didn't seem to care that he had scared the life out of us, notice that he was faking, or even notice that he had given his age when my friends had asked what year he was in! If you ask me, that screams something is not right" Mai explained, kind of awestruck that they hadn't noticed. Martin was a little shocked that Mai hadn't been fooled like her friends. Noll had used that on the most accomplished of scientists, and they had fallen right into his trap.

"Well it was nice talking to you, but this is my car, and I have to go" Martin took the rest of the book and put them in his car. "Thank you for your help" Martin then got into his car and started to drive away. As he pulled out, he looked into his mirror and saw his son approach Mai...

"Mai!" Naru yelled, walking towards the girl, and seeing his father's car drive away.

"Oh, Naru!" Mai yelled in greeting as Naru approached her.

"Don't 'Oh Naru' me! You didn't answer your phone and you have been gone for nearly an hour!" Naru complained.

"Forty five minutes!" Mai argued, but when Naru glared at her, she mentally took it back "I'm sorry Naru, I ran into-"

"My father?" Naru asked.

"Yeah! I bumped into him and tore his bag. I felt bad so I offered to help carry his books" Mai explained, looking down to avoid Naru's glare. Naru then let out a sigh and placed his hand on Mai's shoulder. Mai looked up in shock, then blushed, looking deep into his blue eyes. Naru nearly smiled at how cute she looked, but I did say nearly.

"It's fine, but since I'm out anyway, we might as well go together" Naru offered, leading the way back to the shop Mai was support to have gone too...

With Charlotte and Yasu

They had just come out of the spa, and were feeling very relaxed. They had talked a but about the wedding, but they didn't want to ruin a good day by mentioning it. They had decided to make the day last longer instead, and were now hitting the shops and stalls in the highway.

"We could go to that little clothes shop you were telling me about?" Yasu offered, remembering their earlier conversation.

"Most boys would run for the hills at the thought of going into a clothes shop" Charlotte commented, teasingly.

"Miss Waist! Did you just compare me to 'most boys'?! I am much more awesome than 'most boys'!" Yasu exclaimed, acting hurt.

"No! I would never compare you with anyone! You are the one and only! The best of the best! The king of awesome!" Charlotte retaliated sarcastically.

"Ok, no need to over do it" Yasu rolled his eyes. Charlotte just giggled like a teenaged girl.

"Charlotte!" Someone called from behind them. They turned as one to look at the person who had interrupted them.

"Huh... oh um, what are you doing here?!" Charlotte asked, sounding rather panicked.

"Well father and mother wanted me to check up on you since they can't be here till tomorrow! I was on the way to get a dress for the wedding and I find you talking with some strange boy! Might I remind you that you are to be married the day after tomorrow! What would our parents say!" The girl yelled, making Charlotte tremble with anger and frustration.

"Please, it's not what you think. I work for Oliver and am simply helping with the wedding. Oliver is setting up the venue now with Miss Taniyama and they know that we are here" Yasu covered quickly. Even thought it hurt him to say, he kept a strate face.

"Miss Taniyama? Who would that be?" The girl asked, sounding cold.

"A co-worker" Yasu answered quickly, not wanting her to suspect Mai of anything.

"Good, as long as she know her place" The girl spat...
