For whatever reason, he could not explain why he was so attracted to Mary Margaret. Perhaps it was that face, with the beauty of a woman and the innocence of someone younger. Perhaps it was her personality, always so kind and selfless. Perhaps it was how she was the first thing she'd seen when he had awoken from his coma.
Whatever it was, David Nolan could not deny it. He loved Mary Margaret Blanchard, not his wife, Selena Sheik.
He would come to the diner at 7:15 AM every morning, just to see this woman. It would be a bit creepy, but the fact of the matter was that she came at 7:15 AM every morning to this diner just to see him. Their love was mutual, but neither knew it.
David believed that Mary Margaret was too selfless to love someone else's husband, and Mary Margaret believed that David was too loyal to love someone other than his wife.
Either way, the two knew that someone was wrong with being apart, but nothing could be done.
It appeared that love would not be victorious here.
Charming began his trot through the forest, looking to get away. But he found that his trail had been cut off. By who? By none other than his fiancé, Princess Zelda of Hyrule.
"And just where do you think you're going?" she asked Charming.
"I… I was…"
"Save it," she interrupted with. "I know that you don't wish to marry me. As it happens, I do not wish to marry you."
Charming looked up to the elegant princess. Her long blonde hair fell to her shoulders, and she had tattoos along her neck, depicting symbols from Hyrule's religion, its belief in three gods of different virtues, and a triforce they created that could grant any wish.
He looked to her, this example of beauty and wisdom, and could not bring himself to love his future wife. He loved…
"The woman who tried to steal my jewels, yes? What was her name? Snow White."
"Please," said Charming, "I need to find her. She's enemies with Queen Regina, so who knows what perils lie ahead of her."
"Love at first sight. Well, I suppose I could let you go. Tell my father that this marriage would never work, both between us and politically, but I need you to do me a favor."
Charming agreed, and she began her horse in the direction they were already heading.
"What is this favor, though?" he asked her.
"My own true love is in his own peril. His name is Link."
"Wait," said Emma. She had to stop Mary Margaret before she could say anymore. Emma couldn't believe that this woman would actually want another woman's man.
"I just have all these emotions. Oh my god, I'm in love with this man. He's married. Oh my god, I'm a slut."
"You are not a slut," Emma assured her panicking roommate. "You're just being a human being."
"Well being a human being is stupid."
Emma made them some coffee and thought this over. "We've got to do something about this."
That's when she got a text message. Mary Margaret looked at her phone and gasped. "Oh my god, it's David."
Emma took her friend's phone. The message read 'Hey. Can we talk? I'm at the toll bridge.
"This is bad," said Mary Margaret.
"Yeah. You think?"
Mary Margaret got up and went for her coat, only to be stopped by Emma. "You're not seriously going, are you?"
"Of course I am!" she said before heading out the door.
It had been two days, and Charming was still tracking wolves with Zelda. Apparently, a man named Ganondorf had transformed Link into a wolf, so they had to go find him in his new beastly form.
Charming looked around, and was surprised to spot the wolf in the distance. He could tell it was Link by the triforce symbol on his head, something that link bore on his hands, apparently, when he was in human form.
"Come back!" he yelled at the creature, who had just jolted in the other direction.
Zelda waved her hand at the sprinting Charming, enchanting his boots so he could run faster. Charming's magically enhanced speed turned out to be the deciding factor here, as he was going after the wolf and successfully caught it.
"It's okay!" he said. But the creature struggled, biting him on the arms. Charming thought he would lose his limbs right there, so he said the first thing that came to mind. "Zelda sent me!"
Almost instantly, Link stopped. Princess Zelda approached, and kissed the wolf on its fur. Transforming before them, the wolf grew into a human, and somehow was fully clothed with all the equipment he had before his change.
Link and Zelda kissed, but Zelda broke away. "I'm sorry, but now we have one more thing to do."
"Excuse me?" said Charming. "I've done your deed."
"Well we just need this one thing. Ganondorf has to die."
Mary Margaret and David both appeared to each other at this late hour. The tool bridge was empty, so it would be free from any onlookers, preventing the spreading of more rumors between them.
In a sleepy little town like this, it appeared that the possible affair between these two was practically a spectator sport from the townsfolk of Storybrooke.
"David," started Mary Margaret, "we have to stop this."
David was shocked. "We haven't even started anything."
"But something is going to start if we keep pursuing each other, David. We just- we just can't. "
"Selena left me."
Silence ensued. Finally Mary Margaret spoke. "What?"
"She knew I didn't have feelings for her. She couldn't stand that."
"You could be lying."
"I could be telling the truth, which I am. Mary Margaret, it's just that, well, I-"
"Oh, shut up." Mary Margaret pulled David by his jacket collar to bring him in for a kiss.
The two could argue that it was the greatest moment of their lives.
The man Ganon transformed. Before them was no longer the man, but a giant beast atop his castle.
But not only that, he summoned several more creatures. Shadows emerged from the ground, and before them stood these dark warriors.
"What are these things?" asked Charming.
"They prefer the name heartless," stated Zelda. She cast a spell at one, while Link charged straight at the monster that Ganondorf had become.
Charming helped Zelda fight off the strange monsters, but it seemed in vain. They were powerful, and fast on their feet. Everywhere Charming swung his blade, they would avoid and go in to scratch him.
Even Zelda's magic was having difficulties fighting them off. When she threw fire at them, they threw a spell made of darkness to counter. When she threw ice to freeze them, they would merge with the ground to avoid it.
"We can't stop them!" proclaimed Charming. Just when he had lost hope, something flashed.
He looked to his hand. His sword was beginning to glow. He found that it was not only glowing, but transforming.
He now held a key.
A large key, as big as a sword, with even a hilt to carry it by.
A heartless jumped to him, but Charming instinctively swung the strange thing. Upon contact with the creature, it instantly disappeared into nothing. Only a black mist was there to symbolize its death, and that quickly faded away.
"What is this?!" asked Charming.
"The thing that's going to save us!" yelled Zelda.
Charming swung as if it were a sword, and he found that it worked just as well as one, even better actually. The heartless were defeated, and Charming found the tip of the blade was beginning to glow.
He held the blade, key, whatever, to up, and a beam of light flew and struck Ganandorf in the heart. It was paralyzed, and Link used this opportunity to defeat the creature.
Ganon died right there, and Charming held up the key in curiosity.
"That, would be a keyblade."
Though they confessed their love for each other, they couldn't let the whole town know. So they passed each other on the street without saying hi, then went to a secret place to spend time together.
It appeared that true love had won. For now, at least.
Charming rode off in the distance, with his new blade in hand and Zelda's directions in his head. She searched the land with her magic, and had found where Snow White was hiding, and not only that, but Link rode beside him, feeling an obligation to help Charming in any way he could. It appeared that true love had won. For now, at least.
