Chapter 9

Link woke up, as he normally did, incredibly confused and disorientated. However, even he was surprised to find a strange warm thing lying on top of him. He shifted into an upright position, effectively dislodging the strange warm thing from on top of him with a squeal of outrage.

The warm thing that was on top of him leaned up and he was confronted by the sleepy face of princess Zelda, for a moment they just looked at each other as the memories of the night before came flooding back to them.

Another few awkwardly silent seconds passed until they were interrupted by someone behind Link clearing their throat. Link turned around to see his sister looking at the pair of them with one eyebrow cocked. "Ah…" Link said

"You two have a lot of explaining to do, oh and by the way Dark's living in the basement." Aryll looked at them again and prepared to run before link had a chance to respond but her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a car horn from outside.

Link swore again, glared daggers at Aryll, and ran outside to find Kafei waiting impatiently beside his van, "Dude, what happened?" Kafei said as he looked a Link's stained green, burnt, ripped clothes

"It's a long story. Can you wait ten minutes, please?"

Kafei regarded Link again, "Well-" but he cut his sentence short when he saw Zelda walk to the door, "If you tell me what happened then you can have twenty minutes,"

Link grinned at Kafei and shepherded Zelda back inside before someone recognised her. Link pushed Zelda upstairs and stuck his tongue out at Aryll as he passed her, Dark winked at Link as he passed him on the stairs causing Link to falter slightly then continue towards his bed room.

Link gave Zelda a plain green t-shirt and some jeans and then they both showered (separately) at record braking speeds. So Link, Dark, Aryll and Zelda were all outside bundling into Kafei's van shortly afterwards.

"Morning your Majesty," Kafei said as Zelda got in causing her to scowl to his surprise

"Kafei, if you say anymore of the formalities, I swear to Nayru I will kick you were it counts," Zelda threatened

"Duly noted miss," Kafei said as he got into the front and started driving towards school

Zelda asked Kafei to stop around the corner from the school and he complied, she said it was so the press wouldn't harass the group and he seemed to understand.

Once we arrived at school Kafei turned to talk to Link once Aryll and Dark had gone but Link told Aryll to makes sure Dark waited for him, Link had realised that leaving Dark to his own devices in a school full of people was not a good idea.

"Link, spill the beans about last night," Kafei demanded

"Well half of it I don't understand and the rest is Zelda's secret not mine so, no." Link replied, trying to turn away from Kafei, but he stopped him

"Oh come on! At least tell me why she stayed the night and why she was wearing your clothes," Kafei pleaded

"She stayed the night because we came home latish and she was wearing my clothes because, well, you saw the state of hers," Link responded

"Oh yeah why were her clothes like that?" Kafei asked as Link jumped out of the van and ignored him

"Bye Kafei," Link said but was not left alone for long as Kafei was sprinting up to him from behind

"Well?" Kafei demanded

"I'm not going to tell you any details because I don't understand most of it and the rest is not my secret to give to you," Link said, sounding tired

"Yeah yeah, now on with the story," Kafei said

"I said no," Link said, giving Kafei a stern glare

"Aww… Can I at least tell Ralph and Saria?" Kafei asked

"Fine… Dark! Heel!" Link shouted as he saw Dark walking after a group of girls, Dark turned to Link, gave him a lopsided smile and then walked towards him. "Dark, Aryll said you now live with us," Dark grinned and nodded in confirmation, "is there anything I can do to make you not live with me?" Dark, still grinning shook his head and Link sighed

"I moved some stuff in already," Dark said as they walked down the hallway towards their lockers

"When?!" Link asked

"Last night," Dark said, shrugging

"Oh… Ok," Link said, seeming to understand

At lunch time Link sat down with his usual friends (and Dark) at their usual table, today had felt similar to every other day so far to Link except that Link and Zelda had been sharing many looks but neither had known what they meant.

"So what's this I hear about you and the Princess then?" Saria asked

"He boned her!" Dark said merrily causing everyone around the table to stare wide-eyed at Link

"T-that is not what happened!" Link said, slightly flustered

"Then what did happen?" Saria asked

"Nothing we got back to my house and we were really tired so we fell asleep on my couch," Link said

"So what made you tired and what ruined your clothes," Kafei asked

Link glanced at Dark who was leaning back on his chair and then Dark mouthed to Link tell me later, Link nodded to Dark and then point blank refused to tell his friends anymore details.

When Link, Dark and Aryll got home they were shocked to find Sheik on the inside of their house slouched on the sofa. Dark was the first to recover, walking past the sofa and saying "Hey Princess," then he headed for the basement.

"Dark!" Link and Sheik shouted. Dark turned around to face the others

"Oops," Dark said as Link smacked his face with the palm of his hand and turned to Aryll who was looking suspiciously at the boys

"Show her," Link said calmly

"Show me what?" Aryll asked curiously

"Are you sure?" Sheik asked Link

"Yup," Link said

"Show me what?" Aryll asked more forcefully

"Just watch Sheik," Link went over to where Dark was standing

"How long have you known?" Link asked Dark

"I guessed a while ago," the two boys turned and Zelda was sitting where Sheik had been moments before

"But… You… Sheik?" Aryll looked confused and a little upset

"Sentences, Aryll, grammer is your friend," Zelda said giggling

Aryll had burst into tears and was now sitting on the sofa beside Zelda, "What's wrong Aryll?" Zelda questioned putting her arm around the younger girl

"Sheik... isn't real!" Aryll struggled through her sobs, "Our friend… never existed!"

Link sat down on the other side of Zelda as this fact suddenly dawned on him, "Sheik…"

"Sheik did exist, and still does in me, I was always Sheik," Zelda argued more to herself as waves of guilt washed over her as she realised the pain she was causing the siblings and then she burst into tears and hugged Aryll tighter.

"Zelda, it's not your fault," Link said. He looked over to where Dark was sitting on the arm of a chair in the corner, unusually Dark was not grinning. He had a straight face and appeared to be studying the three with interest.

"Uh… Dark?" Link asked

"Hmm? I'm just gonna go downstairs…" Dark stood and walked swiftly to the stairs, he glanced once back at the trio and disappeared downstairs.

Link looked at the two girls beside him who seemed to have recovered from their crying fits and were smiling at him both looking slightly embarrassed, "Zelda?"

"Yeah, Link?" Zelda asked

"How did you get inside the house?" Link asked

"Ah well… you see…" Zelda said, stammering

Link awoke on the following Saturday in a daze, he had had an almost sleepless night between nightmares and Dark shifting furniture it had been practically impossible to stay awake. This is why Link had decided to just give up on sleep and just go and annoy Dark as revenge for sleepless night.

Link walked quietly down the stairs towards the basement and was shocked to find Dark in the living room trying to push a refrigerator down the stairs to the basement

"Dark?" Link asked from behind Dark, secretly hoping to surprise him

"Hey Link!" Dark said as if he had known he was there the entire time

"What are you doing!?" Link asked, secretly disappointed that his plan of scaring Dark had failed

"I found this great storage device!" Dark opened the fridge and grinned at Link "Look there is even a place for my undies!" Dark opened the vegetable drawer

"Dark that's a fridge, not a useful storage device!" Link said exasperated, "And it's only four in the morning,"

"The perfect time for moving furniture and fridges!" Dark said cheerily

"What else have you got in your basement?" Link asked

"It's not a basement it's my evil lair!" Dark laughed his most evil laugh very loudly causing Link to wince and look up at the ceiling

"SSSHHH!" Link hissed furiously pointing up to indicate Aryll sleeping upstairs

"Oh... ok!" Dark said quieter, but still quite loudly causing Link to roll his eyes

Link walked into the kitchen and fetched out a big packet of Oreos, he opened the packet and offered one to Dark who took three to Link's dismay, "So can I have a look in your 'evil lair'" Dark grinned widely, "No innuendo!" Link continued for good measure, Dark's grin got wider still and he nodded eagerly

"Who has seen your lair so far?" Link asked

"Just Aryll and the princess," Dark said casually making Link stop

"You didn't…" Link growled

"No no. And before you suggest it, they came down of their own will." Link seemed reassured by this so Dark continued into his room where to Link's surprise Sheik and Aryll were pushing a sofa against a wall

"What are you two doing down here?" Link said causing Sheik and Aryll to jump in surprise

"Oh, hey Link. We're helping Dark plan out his 'lair'" Aryll said

"Zelda, why are you… Sheik? And won't Miss Impa notice that you're gone?" Link asked, with a confused look

"Miss Impa thinks I'm having a sleepover at Aryll's which technically isn't a lie. Sheik is stronger than Zelda so I'm being Sheik for a while." Zelda replied then her and Aryll turned back to the sofa and began moving it again

"So Link, you never told me what happened with you and the princess." Dark said lying down on the floor beside his bed

"What's wrong with the bed?" Link asked

"Nothing, but I get to sleep on a bed every night!" Dark said

"Right…" said Link who then went on to explain what happened to Dark and Aryll with Sheik occasionally butting in to point out things that Link had forgotten

Link's face was contorted in concentration as he stared hard at the objects in front of him, "Come on Link, pick one already!" His sister said getting impatient. Link stared even harder at the objects. He wasn't designed to make such difficult decisions. Zelda and Dark were looking on in amusement. "Link its only cereal!" Aryll shouted

"Fine, uh… Cocoa pops, no, Lucky Charms, no, yes, no, no, yes, n-" Link said before getting cut off mid no

"Cocoa pops it is!" Aryll said, pouring the contents into a bowl causing Link to howl his disapproval, "You can have Lucky Charms tomorrow! It's not a big deal!" this caused Zelda to giggle and Dark to wear his usual lopsided grin

Link dunked his spoon into his cereal and looked at the Lucky Charms that could have been. "Poor Link," Zelda giggled

"Oh yeah, Link, I forgot to tell you yesterday," Aryll started making Link look up from his cereal, "Nabs said to remind you about Sports day on Monday,"

"Sports day! FUCK!" Link and Zelda said in unison

"What's wrong with Sports day?" asked Dark naively

"It's the day Ruto gets to stare at me all day!" Link said, banging his head on the table

"It's also the day that everyone gets to see the princess in P.E. kit." Zelda said, resting her head on table beside Link's

Aryll however was smiling, "It's the day I get to laugh at everyone!"

"Why?" Dark asked

"I'm too young to compete with our year group but they won't let compete with the year below," Aryll said, beaming

"Cool," Dark said

"NO ITS NOT!" Zelda and Link yelled in fury

Link and Dark were approaching Navi's Coffee Hut and were just quietly opening the door (they were just over an hour late since Link and Dark had started another debate about Ruto being a freaky fish girl). Link and Dark breathed a sigh of relief when they did not find Navi behind the till, instead was the other worker, a girl around his age with blonde hair, whose name Link had forgotten "Hey," she said, "Navi's in the back,"

"Right…" Link said and with that the girl took off her apron threw it at Dark and walked out the door. Link and Dark walked behind the desk and put on their aprons.

They had been there for no longer than ten minutes when the door opened when Malon and Zelda walked in mid conversation "-It's about time you started coming out with us again,"

"I know I'm sorry Mal, but I have been really busy lately," Zelda replied

"Yeah yeah, Zel," Malon said, "it's just nice to hang out again, but you are going to have to tell me what's happening at some point," Zelda just nodded and looked up at the two boys behind the cashier desk, "Hey guys, couple of regular coffees please," Malon glanced at Zelda who swiftly added

"And a cookie!"

Dark looked at the new customers, "What up Marshy, princess?"

"Marshy?" Zelda asked with an eyebrow raised

"Ignore him and I'll get your drinks and your cookie," Link said, typing into the cashier and collecting the rupees and telling them that they would give them their coffee if they sat down and didn't tip; this had become his usual threat to ward off tippers.

Malon watched carefully as Link and Zelda exchanged looks and made a mental note to question her later. Once they had sat down Dark promptly walked over and sat on a chair the wrong way round. Link decided to stay by the till and take care of other customers.

After half an hour of Dark entertaining/flirting with Malon and Zelda, the two girls left and as she left the building Zelda turned and winked at Link, making him blush and look down to both her and Dark's amusement.

When Link got home it was late, he and Dark had gotten into another argument and ended up going to Saria's house to decide who was right. Link was tired so simply retired to his bedroom and got into bed, when something occurred to him. He looked at the other side of the bed and saw a certain princess looking back, grinning.

A/N

Sorry for lateness of the chapter I got distracted by the Fairy Tail anime. (Which is BRILLIANT!)

Anywho next chapter is sports day and possibly the dungeony bit if I can bring myself to do another terrible fight scene ;)

Unfortunately that's all for now folks!
