The two girls walked silently towards the coffee shop. Anna couldn't stop thinking about the moment Elsa flinched back in pain. She was consumed by its thought. It was pain. She could read it in the blonde's eyes. But…why?

Suddenly their arms brushed. Elsa's skin, cold to her touch, sent shivers all over the ginger-head's spine. That made her snap out of it and realise that they hadn't crossed a single word for minutes.

Oh no, hell no… say something! Doesn't matter what, just say something before she thinks you're a total weirdo. Though she probably already thinks that. Oh god, SPEAK!

"So…what's going on?"

"Hmm" Elsa shrugged.

Anna saw that the blond shut her eyes almost automatically and then started to play with her long sleeved sweater. The girl let out a small giggle as they walked by a park.

"What?" Asked Elsa

"Nothing, it's just…"- the redhead paused. - "It's just that I noticed that every time you are shy or feel a bit …sad, you play with the sleeves of your sweater or you touch your braid." Anna replied.

Elsa's eyes opened in surprise, she bit her lip and immediately started touching her braid. Anna saw this and laughed.

"Oh, god…do you…do you think it's awkward?" The blonde asked coyly, crossing her arms while they were still strolling across the park.

"Not at all" Anna said. "I think it is actually kind of…cute. Really cute."

Elsa's pale cheeks turned a bright red and she immediately lowered her gaze, biting her lower lip. Did this girl actually find these nervous…ticks, cute?

"So, um, my best friend's boyfriend is throwing a party tonight. Would you…like to come? You know, we could go together if you want to. She will surely be too busy for me anyways."

"You're talking about Rapunzel?"

"Yeah, Eugene' boyfriend. She kind of made me go to the party. Thing is, I really don't feel like going." Anna sighed and wrinkled her nose in dislike. What the hell, she'll probably say no anyways.

"Sure."

Anna looked at the blonde at disbelief, not quite expecting that answer. Not expecting that answer at all.

"I…you… you really want to come…with me?" She replied.

"Why not? It's been a long time since I've gone out." Elsa said. "Or had a friend for that matter to hang out with." Her voice was almost imperceptible to Anna.

Again the redhead perceived the tone of the blonde's voice. It had a hint of pain.

She couldn't help herself and ask.

"Sorry, Elsa, I don't mean to sound intrusive or something, but um… why don't you have friends? I mean, you are funny, nice to be around, you have this adorable thingy you do with your hair, which is cute, you're eloquent – not like me, you know, and just gorgeous and…" Anna stopped talking abruptly. She had just complemented Elsa way too much for her liking and her face turned a bright red. She looked away quickly. "I'll just shut up now."

Elsa stopped at her place and looked at Anna completely taken aback. Her blue eyes were open wide, and had a little sparkle on them. She was staring blankly at Anna. But she looked like she had just seen an angel. Not quite believing what her eyes were seeing. Anna realised the blonde had stopped walking and was standing frozen on her place. She turned her face and looked back at Elsa but could not comprehend her expression.

Oh no, did I scare her? You dumbass! It's not even the first time you say something stupid and out of place. Wait...is she…is she crying?

Anna moved quickly- almost unconsciously- next to Elsa. She wrapped her arms around the blonde in a protective way, her heart almost breaking by the sight of Elsa crying. It was the second time she had seen her like this. Her mind was racing with a million thoughts, but the only thing she could do was to hug the tall girl and caress her hair softly. Elsa had her hands covering her eyes, as though she was ashamed. Anna took one of Elsa's hands so she could see her face clearly.

"Elsa, you're freezing!" she took the blonde's hand, placed it near her pink lips and let out a warm breath. "There, much better. You see why you're my snowflake?"

Elsa's body tensed, but immediately gave in into Anna's arms, and the redhead realised that. She kept holding Elsa for a minute until the blonde let out a breath and opened her mouth to speak.

"Sorry, I… I'm so stupid. You…it was your fault I started crying." She said.

Anna was shocked. She felt hot tears starting to form in her eyes. She could not stand the simple thought of hurting Elsa. She loosed up her arms ready to walk away and murmured a simple "sorry", her heart starting to break into a million pieces.

"No, not in a bad way, Anna! I meant…It was your fault I started crying…but of happiness."

This time Elsa's arms were holding the redhead, who was now with her face hidden in Elsa's neck and her body pressed on Elsa's chest. She was clinging to the blonde's t-shirt, wrinkling it a bit. Elsa leaned her head to one side next to Anna's, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her arms wrapped up around the redhead's small frame.

"You see," Elsa continued, "it' been a long time since I had a friend. Stuff happened…every kind of freaking stuff. And the people close to me started to walk away. They just left me. I don't blame them, though. I didn't make friends afterwards because I was too scared of getting hurt. I couldn't afford to feel hurt…" She paused, taking another long breath. "I haven't heard kind words about me in a long time. It's been since forever somebody thought of me like that. Not even me. And suddenly you show up in my life, out of nowhere, because of a simple walk to the library…and you think that about me…- I didn't actually think someone could see those things in me anymore. Or even call me…beautiful." –Elsa's voice cracked.

Anna's head was still buried in Elsa's hair. Her eyes were closed tight. She blurted out "but you are!" How could no one think of Elsa as perfect? That did not make sense. And as if the blonde could read the redhead's thoughts, she shook her head and took Anna by her shoulders so they could be face to face with each other. The ginger head's eyes looked up to meet Elsa's, who was looking straight at her. Her piecing blue eyes fixed at Anna's.

"Listen, Anna. I am not perfect. But the fact that you like me enough to…" She paused.

"I don't think you are like, 'perfect perfect' but I mean, why didn't anyone see you like that? How could they not? Why didn't you like yourself? That's not…that's not right." She protested, desperate for an answer.

"No, it is not right." Elsa paused, dying to look for the right words in her head. She tightened her grip to Anna's shoulders almost automatically and continued, "But everything started to collide when I-"

Anna's cell phone rang.

'Thank God,' Elsa thought.

"You should probably answer that."

"No. I don't want to. I am with you now." The redhead said.

"Anna, please. It could be urgent." Elsa lied.

With a hopeless breath, Anna flipped her phone and opened it, still looking firmly at Elsa. She would not drop the subject, the blonde realised.

Elsa's heart clenched in guilt. 'Saved by the bell.'

Suddenly they heard someone calling from a distance.

"Anna! Elsa!" Rapunzel yelled from the other block. She was running towards them with her phone in her hand.

The brunette reached them both and paused, hands on her knees, almost breathless.

"It's been almost an hour since we should meet, Anna. An hour!"

Anna's face frowned. "I'm sorry, Punz. I got caught up and-"

"It was my fault, Rapunzel. I'm sorry." Interrupted Elsa.

"Oh, don't worry. It's not like it's the first time Anna forgets about seeing me, right feisty pants? " She answered mockingly. "So, what's up?"

Anna huffed. "I was just telling Elsa about the party and…"

"Oh, so you too are coming then? That is so great!"

"Yeah, I'll be there." Elsa turned to face Anna, who was still looking straight at her demanding an answer with her piercing turquoise eyes. "So, I'll see you then?"

Anna sighed helplessly. It was obvious she wouldn't win this battle.

"Sure. I'll come by your house at 8. I know where you live now" she stuck out her tongue and crossed her arms.

"You stalker" Elsa laughed. "See you at 8, then. And thanks for inviting me guys… see you too Rapunzel" Elsa smiled at the brunette.

She moved her body to hug Anna, and whispered to hear ear "thanks". Anna's knees felt weak as soon as she felt Elsa's breath so near. And with a look –that could only be meant for her- the blonde turned her back and started walking home.

Anna just sighed and watched the blonde walk away. She grabbed Rapunzel's arm and dragged her towards Starbucks.

"Hey! Hey, calm down feisty pants. Where did all that strength come from!?" The brunette asked surprised.

"I need a hot chocolate. Now."
