I'm back, and I'm sorry! I mean, why not just bring back a series from the dead and continue to write what I love. It's been a long time since I've updated this story so the writing style may have changed. I love you guys that have stuck with me. Thank you!

"This must have been how the culprit got in and disappeared so quickly!" Shinichi exclaimed.

"This place is really old, how the heck did the culprit know about this place?" Ran looked around at the dust and cobwebs illuminated by the torch on Shinichi's phone. Then, she felt something crawl up her back. "OH MY GOSH, WHAT IS THAT!" She panicked and grabbed onto Shinichi's arm without thinking and clutched it tightly.

He looked at her, surprised, and chuckled, "Oh it's a daddy long legs."

"Please, get it off for me," Ran closed her eyes, not daring to move.

Shinichi cocked an eyebrow. "Oh? Please? I haven't heard that one before. Could you say that again?"

She glared at him. "Get. It. Off." When he continued to look amused, she added, "Now!"

Still laughing, he swiped off the spider from Ran's back. As he pulled his arm back, their hands brushed, and their eyes met. He realised how azure her eyes were, like pools of deep ocean currents. She realised how deep his eyes looked, those deductive powers hidden beneath those orbs.

Embarrassed, she turned away with a slight dust of rose spreading her cheeks. He looked at her, wondering if he was the one causing that blush. If it indeed was him, he was confused as to why he felt no sense of pride or achievement. The only thing he could think of was how cute she looked, and how he wanted to see her shy and flustered more often. The feeling scared him.

"Come on, Ran-san. Let's see where this leads to."

When they came out of the passage, they realised they were at the back of the mansion. "The culprit must be someone who is very familiar with this place. The mansion is so big, it's impossible not to get lost if you are not a frequent visitor."

Ran nodded her head, agreeing with him, "I agree with that reasoning, but who in the world would do that?"

"I'm going to go back to my room and go over the list of suspects," Shinichi paused before adding, "Let me walk you back to your room. It's unsafe with a potential murderer on the loose."

Ran looked at him. "Why? I can protect myself. I have a black belt in karate."

"You do?" Shinichi looked taken aback.

"I never told you?"

"Not that I can remember, and I have a pretty good memory." Ran scoffed at that comment. "Still, let me take you back to your room. Even for a strong person like you, you're still a girl."

At that comment, Ran looked shocked and perhaps a little angry. "Mind you, I am probably much more stronger than you. I could kick you in places that you would never imagine being kicked in right now and trust me, it would hurt. A lot. So much so that you wish you would never have made that insensitive and patronising comment."

Shinichi realised that he had offended her. "Ran, look, I didn't mean to make it sound like that way."

"Well you did, Shinichi, you did. I'm not like those girls that fall for you like you're some kind of A-lister celebrity," She paused for a moment but seeing the detective open his mouth in a response, she cut him off, "And quite frankly put, I think that you, Kudo Shinichi, are a condescending asshole."

With that, she turned quickly and stormed off. Her long hair whipped his eyes. It hurt but not as much as his heart did.

And there we have it. Let's hope I can have another chapter planned out by next week but we all know how good I am at keeping up to date with my Fanfictions.
