*Adam's POV*

It had been two months since I had woken up from my pipe-induced coma. Two months since I got released from the clinic. Two months since I started to fight and train again. Two months since I started my notch-awful job of mining for minerals the base needs.

Two months since I've been waiting for Ray to follow suit.

I visit her every chance I get, but she never gets better. Maybe she won't wake up. Maybe she's-

Someone shaking my arm tore me away from my terrible thoughts. Turning, I see another Steven, the head of our mining group.

"The General wants to see you. He says it's urgent."

Nodding, I run towards the entrance of our branch cave, dropping my pickaxe in a chest near the mouth.

Our base was lucky. Very lucky. Built by Nooch and Woofless as a fun project, the underground mansion served as the only base for The 145th Redstone division of the former Sky Army. As they only known division to survive The Squid Offensive, they acted as a safe haven to who ever they found.

Along with Nooch and Woofless, AntVenom was also known to be safe, but they are the only known commanders out of the hundreds that their used to be. Deadlox is the General of the base, and is the only one left in squid occupied territory. Everyone else is dead, missing, or fighting to defend one of the two countries left, The Kashyy Kingdom or The Great North, my home land.

Me and Ray had been sent to met up with a few of Jeromes scouts, and organize a way to combine the fronts, so that way the two countries could better support each other.

I've been waiting for Ray to wake up so we could head back to The Great North with some reinforcements from the base, and then resume our previous mission. But it's become less and less likely everyday that she will accompany me on that venture.

Reaching the large door of Dealox's office, I knock, waiting for a response.

"Enter."

I open the door to see not only Deadlox and the commanders, but also Dom and Taylor, two fighters that serve in my patrol group. AntVenom spoke first, moving his new robotic arm as he talked.

"Taylor, tell Adam what you told us."

The bacca seemed sad, and opened his mouth as he began to mumble a sentence that I was just able to hear. "That group of Scouts you were supposed to meet up with? That was my squad. We were ambushed by hundreds of squids. We didn't stand a chance. I'm the only survivor that I know of." Shocked, I turned towards Deadlox, who stood and rolled out a map onto his desk.

"Both you and Taylor were attacked by a large enemy force, deep within enemy territory. My gut tells me this is more than just a weird coincidence. Most likely, there is a spy in one of the armies. This could spell the end of any hope we had. This base is closest to The Great North and her capital, Bajana. Tomorrow, you three will leave and head north. Adam, don't worry about Ray. We'll keep watch over her for the next month. If she doesn't wake up by then, well..."

"I understand." If they let her die, I swear to Notch that I will come back and kill every last one of them.

Deadlox looked at me and nodded. He knew what I meant by that. "You leave in the morning. Do what you must."

"I'm going home tomorrow Ray." I stared at the still figure laying before me. "So, this is will be the last time I'll see you for a while. But I'll come back. Wake up soon."

Tearing up, I let my emotions take over as I gently hug her. Staying there for a few moments, I gain my composure and get back up. Walking out the door, I turn back and see Ray sleeping, a faint smile seemed to be on her lips.

"I'll come back, Sis. I promise."

That ending was JUST for my number 1 reviewer. You are welcome.
