AN:
I'm really sorry for not updating any of my stories for almost a year and for putting two of them up for adoption. I had a sudden case of real life and it hit me really bad. I got kicked out of college earlier this year and had to find a new one to transfer to so real life had to take a priority this time.
I know it's unfair for you guys not to read the newest updates so here's a small teaser for what I have planned for MGRI in the future. This is no guarantee that this means I'm back for sure but I hope you'll enjoy this anyway.
Teaser:
Raiden saw a sudden alert on his Solid Eye. Acting on well-honed instinct, the cyborg ninja pushed his young charge out of the way before their assailant fell upon them. He raised the HF Murasama to block his foe's blade, igniting intense sparks from two high-frequency blades clashing.
With a grunt, Raiden pushed the enemy and sent them flying. The unknown enemy merely flipped themselves back into an upright position before landing down into a crouch. The silver haired cyborg entered Blade Mode for a brief second to get a proper look at his current opponent.
He was able to identify his enemy as female due to the tight bodysuit that emphasized the feminine curves and left little to imagination. She had pale hair and skin much like his own but her face was concealed behind some sort of visor similar to the one he had in his first cyborg body.
Another cursory glance confirmed that she was indeed a cyborg like him. The Solid Eye told him that over half her body was replaced with cybernetic parts. All her limbs were replaced with cybernetic prosthesis while the rest was pretty much a pincushion with all the metal staples and braces keeping the squishy parts together. Under normal circumstances, they would be considered weak points but it's practically reinforcements on par with cyborgs with how much they were.
The female cyborg's enhancements may not be on the same level as his but they were far more advance than what he had seen in Columbia. It was kind of like those doppelgangers of Fatman and Fortune that he had fought earlier.
But whose doppelganger is it?
"I swear to God if it's another Vamp-" Raiden muttered, disengaging Blade Mode.
Before he could finish, the female cyborg ninja charged towards him with her blade aimed at his neck. The HF Murasama was suddenly there to deflect it from its target. His opponent deftly redirected her blade towards his heart, making him adjust his guard to block it.
Not being deterred in the slightest, she ruthlessly yet dexterously kept up on the offense and forced Raiden to block countless of her blows lest he'll be mortally wounded.
Of course, Raiden was not going to let his enemy dictate the flow of the battle so he exerted more force to his parry to make her next swing to veer off course. The blade wasn't far enough for him to be fully safe from but it did give him a small opening to turn the tide.
With that, he thrust his sword forward to stab the woman's solar plexus but she was able to recover quickly enough to block it. That attack may have been a failure but he swiftly turned it to his advantage by taking the offense instead.
However, both Raiden and his opponent were of equal skill so none held the advantage for long. One would pressure their opponent with a series of rapid and crushing blows, making the other focus on their defense until they somehow manage to counterattack where they will be on the offense thus leading to a stalemate that would become a battle of attrition. Because they were both cyborgs, they could keep it up for hours before one of them runs out of fuel cells.
Raiden couldn't afford to prolong this fight. He and Elizabeth are in a hurry and waiting for his adversary to literally run out of fuel would take too much time so he decided that he had to end it soon.
He loosened his grip on his sword as he begun to swing his arm to attack from below. Just like he predicted, the woman already made a move to parry his supposed blow but before steel met steel once again, he let go of the katana completely.
"What!?" the woman exclaimed incredulously at the absurd move that Raiden pulled. For some reason, her voice sounded somewhat familiar to him.
Unfortunately, she didn't have the time to ponder on what insanities made him drop his weapon as Raiden's foot grabbed ahold of the high frequency blade. She was then assaulted by a flurry of stabs that were reinforced with his kicks. Her blood splattered everywhere in the near vicinity before Raiden performed one last kick/stab that launched her towards and through the building behind her.
"And that takes care of that," he thought, making a move to sheath his sword before stopping himself from doing so when he noticed something.
"White blood?"
He didn't notice it earlier while he was finally hitting her because he was too committed to his attack see the blood flying everywhere. Also, the HF Murasama tended to leave very flashy red blurs, making it a bit hard to see much blood.
Then it finally hit him.
It made so much sense now. Silver hair. Pale skin. Expert swordsman. Familiar voice. And lastly, white blood. If it wasn't for all the crazy things that he had seen so far (e.g. Senator Armstrong (he still had troubles believing that he got into a fight with a senator and how fuck did nanomachines let you manipulate lava by punching the goddamn ground!?)), he wouldn't bother with the idea and dismiss it entirely.
But now…
Raiden leapt back in time to avoid high frequency sword descending down upon him. Dust rose from the landing of the thought-to-have-been-defeated-cyborg, obscuring the vision of normal humans. But this hindrance meant nothing to cyborg ninjas of their caliber. They continued to trade blows unimpeded in the dust cloud with sparks and the sound of steel the only indicators of their location.
Without warning, the remaining dust was blown away to reveal the two cyborg ninjas locking blades with one another.
"You're my copycat!" Raiden barked at his supposedly female counterpart as their blades began to glow white-hot from the intensity of their duel.
"I do admit that I used to admire you before, Raiden," the woman replied as the visor concealing her face began to retract, "But no more!"
Raiden froze when he beheld the sight of his opponent's face and he almost lost hold of his sword.
"Sunny?"
'Sunny' took advantage of his distraction by kneeing him in the abdomen and followed it up with a cross slash. She then finished up her combo with a solid right hook, smashing into his Solid Eye and breaking it in the process.
That last blow knocked Raiden back but he didn't properly register the pain despite his pain inhibitors being turned off. He was too shocked at facing someone important to him as an enemy.
"Wha-but-how?" he stammered, having almost lost the will to fight.
"I watched you die before, Raiden, but it will be worth it to watch you die again!" the woman that looked so much like his surrogate niece roared as she charged at him with the full intent to kill him.

And that's enough spoilers for now.
