Chapter 9: Discussion
Quinn was on the train to Lima. She hasn't told anyone where she went. She left a note for Anna on the kitchen table hoping she'd find it. Before talking to Puck , there was one phone call she had to take.
She called Brittany and Santana.
"Yo, Q, waddup?", Santana said excitedly.
"Quinnie!", Brittany shouted.
"Guys. I need to talk to you. I am on a train to Lima right now."
"What? Why? We left like a week ago."
"Did you forget your toothbrush?", Brittany guessed.
"No, it's something different."
"Please don't tell me you are going back to talk to Trouty. I mean you guys were cute together, but he made it quite clear he is not interested in talking to you for a while. He will come back one day, Q, but just let him be for a while," Santana responded.
"Actually, that is not who I am going back for. It's not Sam, it's somebody else."
"Puck," Brittany murmured.
"What? How did you know?"
"Because he was all over you at Breadstix and Sam was not the only one to see you guys holding hands."
"I think that I might still have feelings for him."
"Q, you know I love you, but that is just plain stupid. You are going back to the town you wanted to leave behind to chase a guy who was sexting with just about every girl while he was dating you last time."
"What if he changed?"
"What if not?"
"Santana, I don't feel like having this conversation right now. I made a decision. I will go back to Lima and talk to Puck and tell him how I feel.
"Well, how do you feel?", Brittany asked.
"I have a two hour train ride to figure that out," Quinn said hanging up.
Quinn walked from the only train station in Lima. She thought about what to say to Puck when she saw him. Should she just kiss him? Should she explain how she feels or ask him first? Does he even want to be with her? Is he even home? Maybe she should have called before just coming to his door. Well it was too late for that now. She was already at the corner of his street. She held her breath for a while just taking in the air. A few high school girls were staring at me from across the street. I smiled. It was nice to be recognized even a year after graduation. They were right. I was Quinn Fabray, a Queen bee, so what were I doing standing at the corner of a guy's street instead of just knocking on his door. I started walking again and soon rang Puck's door bell.
Puck opened it and gasped.
"Quinn?"
Even though she had fantasized about this situation a thousand times in the train, she was speechless.
"What are you doing here?"
"We need to talk."
"Come in."
Quinn realized that even though they were together at one point, she had never seen Puck's room. It was a typical guys room complete with football posters and Star Wars sheets. She saw a picture of the New Directions after winning Nationals. She smiled.
"So what do you want to talk about?"
"Us," Quinn said.
"I thought so."
"I had a lot of time to think over the last few days. Whatever happened, everything always comes back to the two of us. Even Rachel told me she always thought we would end up together. We have a lot of history."
"Good or bad history?"
"Both."
"Quinn, I know this is hard for you. We don't have to have this talk."
"Yes, we do. I need to know what you think. Are you ready to be in a relationship?"
"Sure."
"Listen. I don't want another relationship like our last one. Are you ready to give up chasing other girls? Are you ready to not sext with other girls behind my back? You broke my heart the last time. I don't want to be in another relationship that kills me inside and makes me cry all night long. I want to feel loved and wanted and not like a random girl you met. I want you to make me feel like I am the only one for you. Are you sure you can do that?"
Puck was lost in thoughts for a while before he nodded.
"I am. Quinn, it always was you I wanted to be with. Not Santana, not Shelby. You. Quinn Fabray. I swear to do my best not to break your heart again. I don't want any other girl besides you. I don't need any other girl. You are the one for me."
Quinn looked at him, trying to figure out if he was speaking honestly or if she was just falling for another Puckerman scheme to get into her pants. Puck was a decent guy, but was he really able to leave all the womanizing behind? In every relationship, there is a moment when you have to decide whether you trust a person enough to give them all your heart and this was it. And the answer was yes. She did trust Puck. Quinn kissed him not ever wanting to let go.
"Puck, I want to be with you," she whispered.
"Quinn, I want to be with you, too. I want you to be my girlfriend."
"I would love to."
Quinn lay down on Puck's bed. Her head was resting in his lap and there she fell asleep, smiling dreamily.
