The living room was silent except for the soft ticking of the clock. Love cradled the panda in his arms as he walked into the kitchen. Watari was sitting at the kitchen table looking over a case file and taking on his phone.

"If there were no prints at the scene, did you look for any other DNA evidence?" He asked then paused.

"Of course there are other ways, remember your training." He continued. Love moved closer.

"I can't bail you out every time you think it's too difficult and I can't subject the child to something like that, he's only three and he's been put through enough trauma."

"Cynthia?" Love whispered looking up at the old man. Watari turned to him.

"Are you hungry Love?"

"Cyn-Cynthia." He replied pointing to the refrigerator. Watari smiled and stood up.

"Come with me Love, I'll get you something." Watari said walking the short distance to the refrigerator. He opened the door and let the child look inside. Instantly a bowl of strawberries caught his attention and he pointed to it. Watari patted Love's head affectionately only to receive a glare as he placed the fruit on the table.

Watari raised Love up and placed him in a chair, he noticed that although there had been slight changes in Love, he would still sit on his feet. The old man shook his head and turned back to his conversation.

"I told you, he's not going to be subjected to a scene like that and he doesn't get along with A at all, those two are like a cat and a dog sometimes. It's ridiculous,A is a grown man." Another pause.

"No. I understand. I'm just- yes, I know." Watari sighed.

"Alright Roger, but you best hope he doesn't decide to act out. He's very difficult to catch if he slips away." Watari hung up and turned to the boy who was now staring at him curiously.

"Well Love, we'll be going out tomorrow." He announced.

'Cynthia?"

"No Love, Cynthia lives the opposite direction from where we're going. You can bring your bear and blanket if you like."

"Cynthia!" Love cried showing the to to Watari.

"Yes, I see her Love." The old reached out slowly and began to pet the bear as Love watched. Love then surprised his guardian when he mimicked the affection, gently petting the man's hand.

"You're a very smart boy Love, Cynthia with be very proud of you for learning. I know I'm very proud of you." The boy pulled his toy closer to him.

"I want you to eat now, you can have as much as you like, I want you to be healthy and happy, that's what matters most to me." To watari's delight, Love allowed him to stroke his hair.

"I understand, the way to your heart is your dear Cynthia, both the girl and the bear, am I right?" Love didn't reply,he had begun eating once more

"That's a good boy, you eat until you're done and I'll go-"

"Cynthia, Cynthia." Love said staring into Watari's eyes.

"what is it Love?"

"Cynthia." He pointed to the phone.

"Love, it's a little late to call Cynthia. Tomorrow while I'm busy, I'll let you talk to her, would you like that?" Love leaned his head on Watari's arm.

"Does that mean you're finally warming up to me?"

Love lifted his head again meeting the man's gaze. He reached out and patted his guardian's hand.

"Watery." He said quietly. The old man smiled.

"Are you trying to say my name?" Love gave a short nod.

"Watery." He repeated before holding up his bear.

"Watery, Cynthia."

"That's right Love, that's your Cynthia." Watari beamed with pride.

Love turned back to his bowl and finished the contents.

"Can you say your name?" Watari asked hopefully but received no response.

"Cynthia?"

"I want you to try, say Love." The child stared up at him silently, then looked down at the floor.

"Alright, another day then. Don't be sad little one, I know it can be difficult, and being only three, that just makes it even worse."

"Watery?"Love looked up once again.

"Yes Love?" The child held out the bear and Watari smiled,he lightly patted its head.

"Nice Cynthia, and nice Love." He said softly. "are you done eating?" Love gave a short nod.

"What would you like to do then?"

Love pointed to the case file.

"You wouldn't be interested in that. Let's go see if we can find-"

"Watery." Love grabbed a photograph and turned from the man.

"what are you up to little one?" He watched love stare at the image of a framed photo that had been hanging on the victim's wall. Painted flowers sat in a vase. Love didn't seem to notice the specks of crimson in various places.

"Love, can I have it please, I don't want you to -"

"Watery." The child held the photo up to the man.

"That's not for you to see Love, it'll probably give you nightmares or -" Love grabbed Watari's hand and placed it on the photo near the corner of the frame.

"What are you showing me now, this isn't something that you -" Watari stopped as he removed his hand and took a closer look in the area.

The reflection was of a dark haired man, Watari could just make out some of the features. In the man's hand, was the kitchen knife believed to be the weapon.

"Love, how did you-" Love suddenly rushed into the living room and turned on the video Watari had gotten him, as the old man got closer and heard the cheerful singing from the characters, Love pointed to the television just as the words 'it doesn't belong' were sung. Watari knelt down in front of the boy in shock.

"You answered me with that video didn't you?" Love nodded.

"Incredible, you are a genius, You can't say the words, though you know what you want to say, y-Love, I've never seen anything like it." The child held out his bear and Watari patted it gently.

"Very well done, I'm absolutely amazed. I had better call him back."

"Watery, Cynthia."

"Of course. We'll talk to Cynthia tomorrow. Are you starting to trust me then?" The boy nodded.

"Good. Come here Love." Watari held his arms out to the child and after some hesitation, Love moved toward him, allowing the old man to embrace him.

"Thank you Love. You're such a good boy." Love rested his head on Watari's chest.

"Watery." He said softly petting his guardian's arm.

"That's right Love. Watari is right here, and I'm very proud of you."
