Clary spun to see the pale slender face of Sebastian. Clutching the book to her chest as hard as she possibly could, she made no attempt to converse. She had known she would find him here, and she had thought she could handle it – but now when she saw him, with a triumphing smile, his teeth gleaming unnaturally white – she was so angry she shook with fury.

Clary knew she couldn't win if it ended in a fight; she needed a way to escape with the book, or at the very least a chance to destroy it. Would a simple rune be enough to ruin the book, to make it unreadable? She had a feeling it couldn't be damaged by hand – so she couldn't just rip it to shreds either.

She didn't get longer to think before Sebastian spoke up.

"Hello little sister, we've been waiting for you!" Sebastian said this with a smile that didn't reach his eyes one bit. The darkness of the cavern seemed to cling around Sebastian, almost giving the illusion of af dark hooded cloak around his figure. Clary shuddered. Something was changed about Sebastian. He had gotten darker.

Her voice sounded surprisingly steady as she spoke up.

"Don't call me your sister, Sebastian."

Her reply seemed to echo a few times in the narrow hallway.

His eyes darkened at this, his voice suddenly deeper sickening sound.

"Don't. call. me. that. That is not my name, sister." He spat out the last words like they were poison.

She felt nauseous. Like her guts were squirming inside her. Clary had no intentions of further conversation, as she tried to plot something to get away, but her mind suddenly seemed blank – like her mind had picked this particular moment to betray her.

"You know, we couldn't have gotten that book without you, Clary. You've been a real help to us." Sebastian's smile was smug, his eyes glittering with self-satisfaction. His words affected her like nothing else. They seemed to linger in the silence between them as she stood there, staring into the eyes that belonged her worst enemy.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Clay began shivering in the coldness of the tunnel. She feared the words that would come next because she did know. She had been used.

"You see, we weren't able to find the book ourselves. At first, we couldn't figure out why. But with a little advice we found it required someone clean of demon blood, someone with a strong connection to the heavenly. "

With each word he came a step closer. If she put the book back in the shelf, would Sebastian be able to retrieve it? Or perhaps, she could find a different shelf to hide it in? Would it keep Sebastian from the book?

Clary started backing away, slowly, steady.

"So it was down to you or Jace. But with his condition, it was quite an easier solution to lure you down here, Clary."

Suddenly Sebastian was holding a dagger in his hand. His finger circling the top of the blade.

"All we had to do was place that ring upon your finger, and you would be ours. You were the easy target." Sebastian smiled.

Stupid. She felt so stupid. But she didn't have time to get enraged. She had to think. Think. Would a strong rune be the better choice? Would she get the time to finish the rune before Sebastian could stop her?

She didn't have more time to think, and then Sebastian charged. Clary spun on the heel and ran, but Sebastian quickly closed in on her. Clary felt Sebastian hands on her legs, and then a sharp stab, as she went flying to the cold stone floor, smashing her head hard against the tiles. Her leg pulsing in agony, a hot red sensation.

With the book in her hand, she turned and kicked him in his jaw with all the force she could muster. Her foot locked steadily with his face, and Sebastian's cry echoed in the hallway. But it was not enough to slow him down.

He looked at her furiously, the darkness around him acting like black cold flames framing his body.

"I will have you, Clary. You will be by my side, and you will like it. That is your reality now."

"You wish." She replied, nearly smiling at her Jace-like response.

Clary then did what she knew Sebastian would least expect. Swiftly she drew out the dagger, which he had buried in her calf, and jammed it in his hand before he could make sense of it. Sebastian howled in agony and Clary scrambled away from him, getting to her feet.

She felt a thick warm substance running down her face and her calf, and the world was spinning dangerously but she tried not to care. Clary drew her dagger just as Sebastian charged again, this time with a sword. The two blades struck each other with such force that Clary was thrown backwards into the air, hurtling towards a book shelf, the impact making a loud crash.

Pain struck her hard, blinding her for a couple of seconds, and everything was ringing in her ears. She had to think. Think. Get. the. book. to. safety.

Sebastian had been tossed backwards to, but not as significantly as Clary. He was about 20 meters away. She realized this was her last chance to stop him from getting the book. While Sebastian seemed to be drawing a quick healing rune she got to her feet. Every inch of her body was in agonizing pain and she felt her body threatening to pass out. But she wouldn't do that before she had done everything she could. She stumbled forwards, blindly walking. She had to this. Just this one task and she was done. Clary fell over, all the things she had been trying to ignore were overwhelming her. She knew she wouldn't be able to hide the book. But destroy it, even just some of it.

Clary plucked her stele out from her boot. It was slippery with her own blood but she held a tight grip. She held the tip of the stele on the top of the book and did what she had done on Sebastian's apartment. She wanted to destroy.

Focusing hard, the book began smoking a thick green cloud and then began to quiver. The pages began evaporating.

Sebastian footsteps where getting closer.

DESTROY.

Closer...

DESTROY.

She didn't make it any further, as Sebastian grabbed Clary around the shoulders. Her stele dropped to the floor, leaving the book in a damaged condition. Dragging her up against him, he had a cold measured glance in his expression. "What do your think your doing, Clarissa?"

Clary looked him in the pitch black of his eyes knowing that she had at least done something. "I'm screwing you over the best way I know."

Then she was dragged unwillingly into darkness in the hands of her enemy.

Alec woke up, his head groggy. What had happened?

Blinking the sleep out of his eyes, he realized he was in a cell. He wanted get up, but was held back by restraining runes around his hand and legs which in turn gave him a slight burn. Getting up to a sitting position, his body felt heavy and dreadfully painful. The cell was dark, that was why it took Alec so long to figure out who was lying on the other end of the cell. It was Clary.

"Clary! Clary!" he croaked his throat dry as a dessert.

But he didn't get a reply.

Hope it was okay :)
