Ch 9: A Heart's Tear

It has been a while since Sora, Donald, and Goofy has left the kingdom and fighting with heartlesses and nobodies along the way. They have now reached their destination beside the waterfall.

"Well, we're here," Sora quietly mumbled.

Goofy look at the sky and said, "Gwarsh, I can't believe how time flies; it's already getting dark. Maybe we should rest here for now."

"You're just saying that because you want to sleep," Donald commented as he sat grumpily on the lushed grass, nevertheless, he agreed anyway.

They've finally came up on an ultimatum: Sleep there for the night and continue their search for the cave tomorrow. With that, Goofy lied his weapon on the ground and use it as his temporary pillow while Donald rubbed himself by the dog and imagined HIM as his bed. His staff is still in his grasp as they both cuddled to sleep.

All this time Sora just kept quiet and never said a thing. The young prince kept himself distant from the other two and sat by the bonfire they'd recently made. He scooped his knees together and brought it up to his chin, staring at the flickering light like his eyes produces some kind of laser-beam that sparked the fire to life. An ocean of thoughts rained down on him, enough for a thunder to take place.

Donald and Goofy were about to close their eye when they saw Sora's actions. They quickly sat up and look at each other as if one's face can be a good source of advise in cheering up their lonely friend.

"Um, you know Sora, if you're thinking that it's your fault that Donald and I get to leave our home, it's nothin'," Goofy said.

"Goofy!" Donald exclaimed as he smack him on the head with his staff for his stupid statement. He knows that the idea with them coming along with Sora will only worsen his mood.

"W-What I mean to say-uh, Sora-is that we are happy to help you in any way we can," Goofy corrected while staring nerviously down at Donald's angry face.

Sora just sat there staring at the sky as if it had some kind of force that made Sora look up.

"It's ok you guys," he began, brown bangs covered his eyes, "that's not what I'm sad about."

Donald and Goofy both stared at him with confusion. Then again, the story behind Sora's forlorn face immediately dawned on them.

"Then, what's bothering you, Sora?" Donald ask, expecting him to say it even though he already know the thorn in his mind

He didn't say anything.

"It's ok to tell us what your thinking about, Sora," Goofy said, "They said, it is better to talk about your feelings to someone, instead of just keeping it locked up to yourself."

Donald nodded agreeingly for the first time, and continue what Goofy is meaning to say, "You will just hurt yourself if you don't let go of what you're feeling right now, Sora."

Sora was quiet for a minute and sighed in defeat when he noticed Donald and Goofy are still waiting patiently for his answer.

"Well..." he began, "I'm actually thinking about...Kairi."

"Uh huh..." The two listened.

Sora continued, "I was thinking about whether she's ok. Hopefully those kidnappers haven't done anything harmful to her. I'm also wondering if...if she's also thinking about me."

He continued to stare out at the sky picturing Kairi's angelic view staring down at him with her usual smile mark on her face. Those smiles are the only thing that kept him going, to see it once again.

Mean while, a small figure huddled upon a dark corner. Bricked walls towers around her. Kairi sat alone inside a dark dungeon, locked away as a prisoner of a family's love and hope. The sound of her whimpering cries penetrated within the empty shadows that seems to be her only companion. Her once lovely voice is heard around her prison for days and she has not even moved an inch from her position: Sitting on an edge with arms wrapped around her legs with head buried within her frail arms in hopes of hiding away the darkness that crept nearby.

She slowly look up, showing her wet face with despondent tears cried out for hours and hours, looking across outside to face another similar brick wall through lines of hard poles that seperates the girl from the inside of the prison, and the outside.

"Where are you...?" Kairi sobbed, "I've been waiting so long...so long and eager to see you once more..."

While back at Sora, he slowly look down as a tear fall down his cheek, and dropped just about near his enlarged shoes.

Kairi then closed her eyes shut while leaning against the wall behind her.

"I miss you..." they both whispered at the same time, thinking that this simple message would be send to each other by the cold wind.

After about a minute or so, Donald and Goofy decided it is time to cheer Sora up, now that he had let go of his sad feeling.

"You know, Sora," Donald began.

Sora look up. "Huh?"

"You should stop with that sad emotions of yours and just throw it in the trash can," the duck said.

"Yup," Goofy agreed, "Whenever people are around me and Donald, we shouldn't see any upset faces. So if your with us, you should only smile even though you're in a sad situa-shun."

"So come on Sora, let us see you smile!" Donald exclaimed.

The two animals leaned to peek at Sora's face, urging him to grin. Sora just look down and sigh.

Then, he sighed one last time and look up showing them a goofy smile formed on his face: His pupils pointed up as he showed his pearly whites.

Donald and Goofy laughed at his hilarious face while Sora just stared at them with each brows going up and down in confusion.

The two just continue to laugh at him mockingly until they slowly regained their normal posture and take in air.

After a minute of silence, Donald finally spoke up first, "Now that we finally saw you smile, can we sleep now?"

Sora chuckled, "Donald, you sound like Goofy right now."

"I'm just an animal," the duck defended, "I also need to rest once in awhile too."

Sora just smiled until they took noticed of a snoring sound appeared in the air.

They followed the sound and saw it was just Goofy already fast asleep without their consent.

Sora and Donald look at each other and laugh at the sleeping dog. "No wonder..."

-000000000000000000-

Two days had pass since Roxas started living in Namine's sanctuary.

His wounds are now healed and ready to leave to continue on what he left behind.

All this time, Roxas and Namine never said a word, they didn't even talked to each other like they usualy do in the past few days.

It was the time that dolefulness replaced their hearts that was once ful of joy, but suddenly collapes from that one day...the day today: It's about time for Roxas to set once again for the journey almost forgotten by the sounds of laughter. The mission he left; The quest to find his friends; and then, go back home...where he belongs. In exchange for leaving all those happiness he once shared with that special girl.

Nevertheless, he must choose his own destiny, it could be; to stay with Namine, where he found his joy, or to complete his mission, the promise he'll ignore if ever he chose the path with the fairy's side.

No. Right now he does not know where to head, swallowed up by his own darn misery. He was about to step outside when he clearly heard a small voice coming from behind him, "Roxas..."

He turned around and saw Namine sitting on a rock about eight feet away from him. But it felt like the distance between them are slowly getting farther and farther. Her back faced Roxas.

"Are you really...going?" she quietly said. She could not bring herself from moving on her position.

"Namine..." he began, "I have too."

Just then, he began to hear soft whimpers coming from the girl up front.

Roxas couldn't help but feel sad himself, and to see someone who became a very important person to him waste tears because of him. It was as if every whimper was a storm surging within Roxas' heart.

Namine then stand up and slowly face him showing the tears that glitter as it fall down her pale face.

"You know...Roxas," she said, now getting a hard time for her to say his name, "It's my first time to...to cry real tears...I don' even know that I could display such a thing." Namine gave a slight laugh.

Roxas, who's been finding the floor much interesting to his eyes, finally looked up. "Don't say that."

But the fairy continue on, "...My first time to laugh like normal people..."

They both stared into each other's eyes.

"You're the first person...who made me feel this way," she finished, "who made me feel these...emotions I have never felt before."

Roxas closed his eyes shut so tight while his hand formed in to a fist.

He couldn't take it anymore! His mind tells him to just go and never come back, blaming himself for causing Namine such pain. But his heart yearned for her touch. He wanted-NEEDED to hold her in his arms, yet only he's afraid he might never let go.

It was also Roxas' first time to feel this way...of all the years living in this world, it was his first and only time to feel this emotions to a person he only met for a very short time.

By this thought, he remembered Sora's words back at Cloud and Aerith's kingdom,

'You'll know how it feels...

Not caring anymore, Roxas took action and listened to his heart, seeing that it screamed out her name much louder than his mind could tolerate.

He walk towards her and embrace that girl which made her limp in his arms. She could not help but cry against his shoulder.

Roxas slide his hand to touch her head and move it gently up and down, taking in as much sensation of her soft, blond hair as possible.

"Namine..." he whispered on her ear, "I'm sorry...I'm sorry for making you feel the sadness, or pain. I'm sorry for being a pest in your life."

"Roxas, I never...or will never ever regret on meeting you...and being part of my life," she said.

He had finally manage to let go, and stare into each other's blue eyes. Then, their faces began to get closer, and closer, until their lips touched, giving each other a kiss...

...when you love.'

...of true love.

The pain and pleasure love provided is a tough thing to handle which left the two mourning over each other. Roxas was hurt. Namine was hurt. But what else can one do?

After that, he ran...

ran away leaving her behind...

leaving her alone...

But left only the memories they both shared together...

...forever.

Author's Note: Done! I was like crying so much when I typed this in. Roxas left Namine. But don't be mad at him, he really had to do this. After all, I should also put in some sad moments in it too, because in every story, there is always a bad side. ;P But there is also a SoraXKairi in it too, oh how I love it!

Remember: This story is for everyone.

Please review, review, and review, Until the next chapter of "The Play" Bye! waves
