Chapter 9
Adjo smirked as he looked around at the slaves being whipped. 'Now which one should I pick' he thought as he pondered over the different slaves. He looked at a couple of girl slaves nearby before he dismissed them and looked at the male slaves.
He was going to move onto another area when one slave caught his eye. It was a teen that was dragging along a huge sandstone block. He had chestnut hair that was slightly below his shoulders and mahogany tanned skin. He had a defiant look in his onyx eyes and his mouth was a mix between a frown and a snarl.
'He looks like that boy I sacrificed to come back to the past' Adjo thought as he approached the slave. "You, boy. What's your name?" Adjo demanded. Yoh looked up and glared at Adjo. "Yoh" he answered coldly. Adjo smirked and turned to the two guards in charge of the working slaves.
"I am taking that slave there to be my new personal servant". The guards nodded before they started to stalk towards Yoh. Yoh took a step back as the two sinister guards approached. The first guard grabbed him and held him still while the second one locked a metal collar around his neck and gave the chain to Adjo.
"Come slave" Adjo commanded as he tugged harshly on the chain causing Yoh to fall to the ground due to the force. Yoh scrambled back to his feet and obediently (and reluctantly) followed his new master.

"So how exactly are we going to get into the palace?" Hao asked as he peered around the corner at the two guards flanking the gate to the palace. John was silent as he thought. "Hey give me your old clothes" John commanded. "Why?" Hao asked as he handed them over.
John smiled at him. "I'm going to sell them". "WHAT!" Hao exclaimed as he tried to grab his stuff again. John held the clothes out of his reach. "If we sell these clothes we can buy a gift for the Pharaoh, then we can see the Pharaoh to give the gift. We can explain the truth about how we came from the future and that we are searching for Yoh" John explained.
"He won't believe us, he'll think we are crazy" Hao retorted as he tried to pull his shenti down to cover more of his legs. "If they don't believe us you can just show off some of your shaman powers. Yoh told me that you had a book which allowed them to look into your memory of one thousand years ago when he was training. You could do a similar sort of thing with the Pharaoh. Show him some of our memories and he should believe us" John said convincing the already irritated shaman.
"Okay, fine" Hao said before pouting. "You really do look like Yoh when you do that. He used to pout all the time when I stole his oranges" John reminisced. Hao gasped slightly in surprise but quickly hid it with a cough. "Really I didn't know that".
John smiled before he turned and made his way back to the market. Hao sighed and leant back against the building he was near. 'Yoh' he thought, 'I can't believe I am here wearing a skirt. I hated you and was planning to kill you and now I find myself trying to save you from a crazy mummy, wearing a skirt and running around in ancient Egypt. What have you done to me? Before I was the most feared shaman in the whole world but then I met you and was defeated by you'.
Hao sighed as he looked up at the sun that was high up in the sky. 'I don't know what I'm going to do anymore. I was going to kill you but now I'm not so sure that is what I want'. Hao watched as two kids ran past him, laughing and playing with each other. They looked like they were twins as they were identical.
'Is that what we should have been like Yoh? The best of friends, laughing and playing together instead of trying to kill each other every time we meet. Looking back it all seems so silly now. We were so alike yet so different'.
"Hey Hao you in there?" John asked making Hao jump. "Sorry I was lost in thought" Hao explained as he saw the two boys run off. John chuckled. "You did look like you were deep in thought, you were creeping out those two boys by staring at them like that".
Hao looked up at John and saw a bundle wrapped up in his arms. "So what did you get?" Hao asked curiously. John unwrapped the top slightly to reveal a stone statue of the Egyptian god Ra holding an orb. "I was thinking maybe you could put some sort of enchantment on the orb that wards away evil" John explained.
Hao smirked and placed his hand on the orb. He closed his eyes and focused on casting the spell. A few minutes later he opened his eyes and removed his hand. The orb was now glowing a light blue and mist could be seen swirling inside it. "Wow, you've done a great job Hao" John said as he admired the statue.
"Of course I did, I'm the best shaman in the world for a reason" Hao replied smugly. John chuckled to himself and wrapped the statue back up in the cloth. "You ready to go?" John asked. "I suppose" Hao replied. The two of them turned around the corner and walked towards the guards.
"Halt" one of the guards called out and John and Hao froze. "Who are you and what is your business here?" the other guard asked. "My name is John and this is my cousin Hao, we have come bearing a gift for our Pharaoh" John explained. Hao frowned when John mentioned the cousin part. The guards studied them for a second before stepping aside and opening the gate.

Tabu frowned as he watched Adjo return with a new slave. The new slave looked miserable but Tabu could see the defiance in the slave's eyes. Tabu trailed behind as Adjo lead Yoh to his personal quarters.
"These are my quarters slave. You are to wake me up at dawn every day, run me a bath and prepare my clothes. You are required to serve me during meals and do anything I ask of you. When I have nothing for you to do you are to help in the kitchens, understand slave".
Yoh nodded and gasped when Adjo suddenly grabbed his chin and slammed him against the wall. "And one last thing, you are to address me as Master or general or you will be punished severely" he hissed before letting Yoh go.
Yoh kneeled on the ground and looked up at Adjo. Adjo picked up a clean white shenti from his bed and tossed it to Yoh. "You will wear that, not the rag you are wearing now, you will sleep, bathe and eat in the slave quarters. I will have a slave show you where they are.
Tabu gasped and stepped away from the door as Adjo suddenly walked out of it. "You slave what are you doing?" Adjo asked. Tabu gulped nervously. "I was running an errand for my master, was there something you wanted general?"
Adjo smirked. "Actually you can show my new slave where the slave quarters are. Slave come here". Yoh obediently appeared dressed in the new shenti holding his old worn one in his hands. Adjo unlocked the collar around Yoh's neck and pushed him into Tabu. And with that Adjo turned and walked back into his room closing the door behind him.
Tabu looked at the teen staring curiously at him before smiling. "Hi my name is Tabu, Seb one of the high priest's personal slave. Who are you?"
Yoh cautiously looked at Tabu before he replied. "Yoh".
Yoh: First you kill me, then you turn me into a slave, Great! *Sarcastically*
Orange: Glad you think so *also sarcastic*
Hao: I still can't believe I have to wear a skirt
John: Oh get over it Hao, at least no one you know is seeing you in a skirt
Hao: *pout*
Orange: Please Review before I get annoyed and murder someone!
Hao: *Pout* People are going to think I really am a girl if I have long hair and start wandering around in a skirt!
