I woke up the next morning to the sound of a hairdryer. The other girls were getting up, too.
"Who the heck is drying her hair so loudly at..." Katie shouted and looked at her clock. "5:00 in the morning?! Why can't you just do it magically and quietly?!" I nuzzled my head into the pillow then put my glasses on. I looked around and saw it was Alicia.
"I'm sorry, but I want to look pretty!" Alicia retaliated. I got up and walked to her. I put my hand on her shoulder.
"Dear, you do look pretty. Now, why didn't you use your wand? Much easier. Didya bump your head or something?" I told Alicia. She stopped and looked at me.
"Thanks, Bella. I'm just so worried. You see, this boy named Brandon Quirley asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes, but I don't know about how I look.
"You have a boyfriend? Why didn't you tell us?!" Katie shot up and ran to us. "Since when have you been going out?"
"Since last week. He's a Ravenclaw. I didn't tell you because you'll be bombarding me with questions like now you crazy hag! Bella, can you help me? I wanna look like a good girlfriend."
"Sure I will. And Katie will, too, of course. I'm sure she didn't mean to blow up, she's just curious..." I said, curling the ends of her hair with my finger.
"Alright then..." she replied, Katie got some make up. A few minutes later, Ali was finished. She looked stunning.
We gave her a mirror since we hid her from the one on the wall the whole time. She had a perfect "o" shape on her mouth. Katie and I looked at each other in surprise, then back to Alicia.
"You don't like it?" Katie questioned.
"Is it that bad?" I asked, shocked. Alicia spun around to face us and stood up. Katie and I were attacked by a surprise bone-crushing hug.
"Are you freakin' kidding me?! I look ah-mazing!" she shrieked right in our ears, damaging it a little. Hermione and Ginny shot up, looked around and groaned.
"Can't you guys be quiet?" Ginny asked.
"Hey, you need to wake up soon anyway, might as well..." I replied. I magically changed, smelling fresh as ever. I smiled as I made my way down the stairs, a little too carefree. As I was just about to head out of the common room, someone pulled me back by my right wrist. I turned around to see who it was, Fred. Of all people, Fred. The smile I had on crept away and a frown replaced it.
"Umm... Excuse me? I gotta go eat breakfast." I said bluntly, looking up at him. Merlin, he was tall.
"Why aren't you eating with us?" he asked swiftly, which caught me off-guard.
"Well, as I said, I wanted a change in atmosphere. Also, Hermione and I wanted some girl talk." I responded, calmly covering up.
"Alright then. Will you be eating with us now?" he was still holding my wrist, I pulled it away, he let go.
"No, I'm not yet done with Hermione." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my best friend descending the stairs. She noticed Fred and I and looked worried. She quickly ran over to us.
"Hey, I said I'm so-"
"Bella! Fred! What a surprise. Bella, wanna go talk more downstairs?" Thank God for best-friend-telepathic-communication. Sorta.
"Yes. Bye Fred." I quickly turned around, ran out, and down the stairs. Hermione and I sat at our place. "Thank you SO much 'Mione. You're the best!" I shouted and hugged her.
"Anything for you, Bells." she said, hugging back.
Six days passed and things didn't change. Hermione and I still sat together at our usual place, The boys didn't mind. I missed them, to tell the truth. Especially Fred. I constantly had to keep reminding my mind that he was the one I was avoiding, but my heart thought otherwise. Images of Fred and I ran through my head. It was Saturday afternoon.
"Don't you think you're tired of this little charade?" she said to me, looking up from her Daily Prophet.
"Not really." I lied. Truthfully, my heart was shattering slowly. I looked back to my French toast and finished it, then rested my head on my arms on the table.
"I know you're lying. It isn't going to work." Hermione said matter-of-factly, in a singsong voice, looking back at her paper.
I knew I couldn't hide it from the person who knows me too well. "Fine. If you really want to know..." I sat back straight and looked at her, she put the paper down.
"Yes?"
"To tell you the truth... Gaining distance... I-it's only... tearing me apart." I said, tearing up. She hugged me tightly and I glanced over at them. They were looking at us. I looked up at her. "I think I need some alone time, Hermione. I'll just... just... hang around by the Lake." she nodded,
I got up, turned around. I still felt eyes staring at me from behind. I walked silently out the Great Hall. Then, I heard footsteps. It made me run. I continued running and turned to the Entrance Hall. I still ran out, sobbing in my hands. I sat near the lake water's edge. I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder. It made me jump even though I was expecting it.
-Fred's POV-
Nearly a week has passed and nothing changed. Hermione and Bella still sat on their seats and had "Girl Talk". They both ignored us and turned the other way when George, Ron, Harry, and I were near them. Bella never even looked at me since I pulled her away six days ago. She was breaking my heart. I was so out of it, I haven't been on a prank for who knows how long. Today, I am sitting with the boys again just being quiet. Harry noticed.
"Miss Bella, huh?" he asked. I just glared at him and looked down while dropping my spoon into my porridge.
"It's alright mate. We get it." Ron said.
"We feel it too. But probably not as much as you." George nodded. I looked up at all of them sadly. A tear slipped out.
"Hey, I think she misses you too." Harry said, jerking his head towards the girls.
I looked over, Bella was crying into Hermione's shoulder. I was heartbroken even more; I couldn't stand to see her cry. She pulled away, said something and started walking out the door. George nudged me.
"Go get her." he smirked. I got up. I started walking to her, she started to run. I followed suit. She was heading towards the Lake. I slowed down, watching her flee so gracefully. She sat down on the water's edge. I walked up to her. Being this close to her after such a long time mad my heart pound faster.
-End Of Fred's POV-
Fred. It was Fred. I started crying more audibly and visibly. He sat down next to me, and hugged me tightly. I cried into his chest and pulled his shirt. He kept whispering, "It's alright... It's okay... Don't worry, I'm here..."
After a few minutes, I calmed down. Fred rubbed my back. "Fred..." I said. "I am so sorry. I was just a little... out of it. Sorry for ignoring you, you didn't deserve it."
"It's okay. I understand... I just hope you can forgive me..." he replied.
"I hope you can forgive me. I am such an idiot."
"No, you're not. Hey, I want to tell you something."
"What?" I said, sat up, and looked at him. He chuckled. "What?!"
"Your makeup is ruined..." he said. I looked down. He lifted my chin so our eyes were level. "But, you are still so beautiful." I felt a blush hug my cheeks, changing into a billion shades of red.
"Hold on," I said, leaning over the water, washing it out of my face. Turns out, not so waterproof. I went back to face Fred, he smiled. "shoot." I gestured for him to continue.
"Okay, well... I like you. A lot. I have since we first met. I just realized it recently, though."
"Wow." I was shocked, obviously. He looked down. I bent over, and lifted his chin. "Fred, I like you too." I smiled.
"Really?" he was happy.
"No." I said jokingly.
"Oh..." he looked down.
"Yes you idiot! I was joking! And you say you have a good sense of humor." I playfully punched him.
"I do." he replied and looked at me. I lay down. He did too. He hovered over me and stroked my hair. "Bella, I have to ask you something." He looked into my eyes. "Will you be my girlfriend? Because to tell you the truth... I love you. And you may not feel the same way, but I've been wanting to get that out for quite a while."
I tried to sink in what he just said. "You love... me?" I stuttered. He nodded, I smiled. "Yes, I'll be your girlfriend. And Fred, I love you too." A smile was plastered on his face immediately, ear to ear. He leaned in slowly. Our lips touched. I felt his arms snake around my waist as mine went around his neck. It was so long; it felt like it, anyway. We pulled away and smiled.
Only one sentence filled my head - love is a wonderful thing.
And, that's the end of it! Thank you for reading, even if it was quite terrible. I'll try updating my other stories as well!
