A new chapter! And a time to clear something up for those who may, or may not, be curious.

As far as Riven killing the Elder that Yasuo was suppose to protect, we still don't know if she actually killed him or not. Yasuo is convinced it's her, but Riot has never confirmed that she did, because they love love love LOOOOOOVVVEE to screw your mind over. *Stares at Jinx's Sister argument*

Anyway, let's get to it, shall we?

Summoner of the Exile, Chapter 9…

.Promises.

Autumn.

Autumn was Al's favorite season of the year. It was not to hot, nor was it too cold, it was perfectly even. It was times like these he'd go down to the bar as grab a ale before sitting outside with a daily newsletter, reading up on the news in Runeterra.

However, today was not one of those days.

Today he sat by the bar with a ale in his hand, but inside, and waiting for someone. He had plans, and it was time to make a visit to the one city he had been dreading to go to….Demacia.

If he and Riven had any chance of getting into Noxus, they were going to need something to back them up…and unfortunately, that meant an army. Not many Noxians will look so kindly on Demacian forces entering their domain, so he had to make sure that negotiations went well enough that the Demacian soldiers wouldn't harass the townsfolk, especially those who lived outside the safety of Noxus' walls.

There is only one man he trusted to get the job done, one man he'd trust with his life if it were a battle of words, and his name was Lorson.

A heavy hand smacked Al on the back, causing the man to turn around to see…that's right, Lorson.

Lorson was a large man, standing at seven foot and three inches. He also was built like a Minotaur. One would question why he chose to be a Summoner rather than some sort of soldier, but yet despite all that, the man was probably more gentle than a feather brushing against your cheek. He also had dark skin, gold eyes and short white hair.

Alidar grinned "Always nice to see you again, Beast." He'd say in a friendly tone, using the man's Summoner name, which suited him quite well.

"Sanctry, always good to see you again." Lor chuckled, taking the seat next to the man and waving down the bartender "I'll take what my friend is having if you don't mind."

When the order was put in, Lorson returned his gaze to Alidar "Been a while, buddy. I still remember those good ol' days when we'd prank our teachers. You, Starbloom and me. The Terrifying Trio." He let out a hearty chuckle. Al chuckled with him "Yea…if only we could go back in time…life back then was so much better than it is now." Alidar smiled into his mug.

Lorson was one of the first friends he and Lizza ever made when they came to the Institute of War to train as Summoners. He took care of Marsy when Al and Lizza had to take their classes and were unable to watch over her, given the three were not in the same class. The three of them enjoyed playing pranks on the teachers, who were oblivious to their schemes. These ranged from icy floors, stink bombs, and even large amounts of cats that somehow found their way into Master Summoner Geffory's coat closet….

"So what can I do for you, buddy?" Lorson's voice brought Al back to the present. He blinked, starring at the man as if he had forgotten why he had brought him all this way. Shaking his head, he refocused "You are probably one of the Institutes most greatest Ambassadors, and it's because of this I need you to help me with a little project…"

Lorson took a swing of his drink, his eyes looking at Al expectingly. He had his attention.

"I need you to convince Demacia to help me and Riven take back Noxus."

Lorson spat a majority of his drink back into the mug, clearly surprised by Al's proposal. He coughed and hacked for a few moments, and once he had regained is composure, he gave his friend a dumbfound look "I'm sorry, what?"

Alidar sighed, looking around before speaking in a more hushed tone "Me and Riven are not going to simply walk up to Noxus and knock on their door to receive a warm welcome. If we want to get into there, we need some sort of army by our side…"

Lorson also looked around the room quickly before leaning forward "Alidar, not to be rude, but how much have you had to fucking drink? You know that what you're asking is nearly the equivalent of ANOTHER Rune War?"

"I know that!" Al hissed, his eyes constantly looking for eavesdroppers "And I'd like to avoid this. We just need them to help us get to the keep safe and sound once we win against Darius and Swain, but there is no way we'll get there on our own with out dozens of assassins leaping out and running blades into our back."

"Your letter said you had the Sinister Blade on your side out of all people. Doesn't her family control a majority of those assassins?" Lorson asked, raising his mug to his lips again.

"Yes, but as you said…a majority, not all." Alidar leaned away to finish the rest of his drink "I never said it was going to be easy…and in fact I don't even know if we'll be going at all. I still need to see if Riven is going to get on board with this."

"Sounds like one hell of a challenge." Lorson said, sounding rather dubious.

"Again, I never said this was going to be easy." Al repeated in a irritated tone, glancing back at the man "Besides…I want to get this done before Lizza's birthday."

"Yea…didn't you say that was soon?" Lorson said as he waved over the bartender "Why the hell would you wanna do this while that's practically around the corner."

Alidar placed a coin on the table as the bartender came, who swiped away their empty mugs and replaced them with full ones "When it comes I want to spend my time with Lizza…I wont have time for anything else."

The two sat in silence for a moment once Al finished. Lorson mused about the mans words, Alidar waiting patiently for the man's answer. And after a while, Lorson spoke "Alright, let's do it. When do you wanna head out?"

Alidar grinned "I knew I could count on you, Beast."

Lorson shrugged "Well we've been buddies for a long time. It would be a sin NOT help you."

Al nodded "Right. I want to leave as soon as possible. I'll go find Riven now and see if I can't get her on board." He rose from his seat, putting a few coins on the counter for the bartender, and then proceeded to leave. Before he could though, Lorson grabbed his arm "Al…word of warning. You're about to try and convince the former poster child of Noxus to go on a diplomacy mission to her most hated enemy…I'd prepare for what's to come."

Al nodded, he had considered this. He had a decent enough excuse to go, and enough reason that should convince the woman. However, knowing Riven, it could be the exact opposite of what he would hoping for.

As he left the bar, he began to check clothing stores to see if he could spot her. Riven mentioned getting Ahri and Lizza's help to pick out a rather skimpy outfit for Katarina to wear, so it was his best bet. He knew three places in the village that sold those, however after walking past each one on his way through the town, he couldn't spot any of them.

He decided to check the mail house, where all packages and letters came to and left the village. Luck seemed to smile on him as he spotted Ahri's nine large tails like a beacon amongst the other villagers.

Making his way over to the trio, he decided to sneak up behind Lizza before quickly wrapping her arms around her shoulders and whispering "Boo."

Lizza squeeled, whirling around and charging a rather large fireball in her hand, ready to punish the one who surprised her. When she saw it was Alidar however, she blushed and the fireball vanished "Alidar Sanctry Penrison!" She snapped "You know I hate it when you do that!"

Al chuckled "You always made the sweetest noises when you're scared. Almost adorable."

Lizza's cheeks reddened to the point Al would have thought someone painted them in scarlet. Chuckling again, he turned to Riven, who was trying to hide her snicker "Riven, can I talk to you for a moment?"

Riven nodded "Sure."

"WHAT?!"

As Lorson had warned, Riven did not like the idea. She and Al stood in an ally some distance away from the mail house. Riven's face was a mask of anger and confusion, which then turned to just plain angry. She waved her hands in front of her to empathise her point "No, I'm not doing it. You can't make me do this…"

Alidar sighed "Look, Riven, I know what I'm asking you is everything you've gone against, but really we NEED their help. We can't walk into Noxus by ourselves, and Kat's protection will only get us so far. We need someone to back us up, and Demacia is the ONLY city that can help us…they can even convince Inonia and—"

Before he could even finish, Riven was upon him. She rammed the length of her arm into his chest, the impact throwing him back into the wall. He didn't have time to move before Riven pinned him up against it with her arm to his throat. His eyes met those crimson and brow gaze…and he saw everything with in those eyes.

Her hatred, her despair. These were the eyes of a soldier that has seen the battle field and lived it, even when it almost killed her. What he was saying was practically and insult to everything she fought for and against. Demacia was her sworn enemy, it had been for years on end, so how DARE he suggest to make peace with them. Alidar understood her anger and her pain….and if he didn't choose his next words carefully, chances are he was going to pay or that suggestion with his life.

Licking his dry lips, Alidar spoke in a calm and steady tone "Look…I know, what I'm saying is a bunch of bull shit.."

"Yes, it is, and I wonder what sort of death wish you must have to ever bring it up with me." Riven cut in, her mood not changing any time soon.

Al sighed "Look, Riven…I want to change Noxus, more than anything. I can't do that if I'm dead and my corpse has been thrown into a ditch somewhere near the city I tried to save. We need their help…please, just trust me."

Riven's breath came out in huffs, brushing against Al's cheeks. It almost smelt of mint, probably from mint tea she had been drinking a few hours ago with Liz and Ahri. She was considering it, he could see it in her eyes. He prayed to any God above to help him, to give him strength. He closed his eyes, as if awaiting his death..until

"Promise me something."

He opened his eyes, Riven's own hard gaze hadn't change as he stared him down "Promise me…they will not harm Noxus in any way. They will keep their filthy hands off that city…" She wasn't joking, she was dead serious. To say no would surely mean Al's end.

This is the second time Alidar questioned whether he'd live or not when speaking with Riven… it was the first time he suggested to her about being his personal champion. He was again, knowing what words he spoke could possibly end his life with out a moments hesitation…only this time the reason was worth killing for.

"I promise you…on my honour as a Summoner, they will not harm anyone in Noxus with out good reason. They will not destroy anything in the city..I promise you that."

Riven stared the man down for a moment, studying his face. Finally, she removed her arm, Al raising his hand to rub his throat. Riven glared at the man "Truly, you have a death wish. If you wanted to die so badly why didn't you just jump off a cliff."

"Because.." Al said, lowering his hand "That wouldn't nearly be as interesting." He smirked, and thankfully, Riven smirked back.

The two made their way back to the mail house where Lizza and Ahri had been waiting for them. "You two alright?" Ahri asked, both Summoner and Exile nodding. Al then looked to Lizza "So did you manage to find and outfit for Kat to wear?"

A cruel grin spread across Lizza's lips, one that Al had never seen "I'm sure she'll appreciate my choice of outfits when it comes to 'humility'…In any case, wanna head back home for tea?"

They had gone to Lizza's home and had settled down for tea later that day. Marsy had came home from a friends and had joined them. When Lizza went to the kitchen to brew more of the mint tea she was so fond of, Alidar went with her.

Once they were alone, Al leaned against the counter in the cozy little kitchen and sighed "Lizza… I need to tell you something."

Lizza stopped what she was doing, her attention drawn towards Al, her eyes seemed to have some sort of sparkle to them. Regardless, Al continued "Riven, Lorsen and I are going to Demacia on a diplomacy mission. Given it's Demacia…well, I'm not sure what will happen. I just though I'd let you know."

Lizza frowned slightly, adverting her gaze to turn back to her tea brewing "I…see.." She murmured. She almost sounded…disappointed. Alidar pushed himself from the counter and walked over to place a hand on her shoulder "Hey, what's the matter?"

Lizza shook her head "Nothing…it's just…you know what day it is in a few weeks, right?" She'd look back up at her friend, her eyes searching. "Of course I do." Al replied, wrapping and arm around her shoulder "I promise you, when your birthday comes around, you shall have my undivided attention." He'd offer her a warm smile.

"Al…" Lizza said in such a low voice Alidar strained to hear it "…what is Riven to you?" She looked up at him again with those searching eyes. It was a genuine question with a clear reason behind it. So..she does feel that way about him, not that he didn't think she didn't. She honestly wanted to know.

Alidar chose his words carefully, something he had to do a lot today, finding himself in rather awkward positions that could make or break a friendship. "Riven is my friend, she is my partner, she is my Personal Champion. There is nothing more to it than that."

"And what am I to you?" Lizza narrowed her gaze.

Alidar opened to speak, however from the corner of his eye he spotted prying eyes from around the corner of the door. He smirked, removing his arm and making is way out the door "I'll leave that to your imagination until your Birthday." He'd say.

Lizza's mouth dropped open, watching him go with a shocked expression before calling "You're an ass hole!"

Al chuckled, walking back outside and taking a seat next to Riven. From what he could see, she was in no mood to talking with him, probably still angered by the fact that she has to side with Demacians just to save Noxus. Alidar didn't blame her, in fact if he was in her position he'd probably feel the same way.

Lizza arrived with the tea and set it down before taking her seat. Ahri looked to Riven and smiled "So…what are you going to do?" She asked, leaning forward propping her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands.

Riven raised a slender black brow "About what?"

Ahri smirked slyly "Yasuo."

For the first time today, Riven felt a lump raise in her throat. The diplomacy mission was one thing, however they never did discuss the 'Yasuo Situation' ever since they came back from the match. "I don't really know to be honest.." Riven said as she took the pot and poured herself a cup of tea "He seems convinced that I murdered the Elder…yet I recall no memory of carrying out orders to kill an elder."

Al made a pyramid with his fingers, his eyes narrowing "It could be possible that what happened in your past could have caused some memory loss…it was quite a traumatic experience for you. Chances are you could have forgotten your memories due to the chemicals used that became air born.."

"Perhaps." Riven muttered as she stared at the light green liquid in her cup "Regardless, I have time to deal with it as it comes. For now, we can focus on other things…" She glanced over to Alidar "Tell me about this Lorson fellow."

Al smiled at the mention of his old bud "When ever me and Lizz needed some extra muscle, Lorson was the man to call. When we came to the Institue, he looked after Lizz and fought off her bullies with us. Together we were the most terrifying trio during out study years." He reached forward to pour himself his own cup. He leaned back and took a sip before letting out a content sigh "He may look big and intimidating - hence his Summoners name being Beast - but he has one of the softest personalities I've ever seen. He's an honourable fellow, and probably the Institutes greatest diplomats I've ever met."

Riven smiled "You seem to be well connected with sources and information…"

Alidar chuckled "You can say that, or you can say that fortune favours the insane."

"Regardless you two be careful." Lizza said, her eyes partially hidden by her hair. Al felt someone kick his leg and saw Riven glaring at him, as if saying 'Say something you jerk.'

Letting out a small sigh, Al placed his cup down and walked over to her side, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder "We will..don't worry about us."

Marsy watched the scene with amusement, so much so she started to sing "Al and Lizza sittin' in a tree k—" She was interrupted as Ahri wrapped all her tails around the girl and pulled her in to place her hand over the girl's mouth.

The evening had passed, and Riven, Marsy and Alidar went home. Al and Riven called it in early given that they needed to get up early to leave. The next morning Alidar was already up and at the stables preparing Elsa for the trip ahead. He decided to use the larger saddle just in case, plus it held more supplies and gave him room to shift around. Riven was going to be using Lizza's horse, Len, a white stallion.

Luckily for Riven, Len was gentle, and Alidar wondered if Riven had even rode a horse the way she was setting up her saddle. She was struggling with the straps, Al decided to leave Elsa for a moment to help the woman before she hurt the poor animal "You alright there?" He asked as he took the straps from her hands and did it up himself.

When he looked at her, Al saw her frustrated look, and could guess why "It's about the mission, isn't it?"

"I feel dirty…" Riven growled, rubbing her arms "I have to walk into that city, filled with nothing but foolish and moronic idiots who think of themselves better than everyone else. They disgust me, the lot of them…the amount of Noxians that died to their blade."

Al rubbed Len's neck as he listened to the woman vent "They simply do what they think is right. Both sides have an illusion of what they want…Noxus wants control, power, domination. Demacia wants peace, order and justice….however both of them just want to take care of their people."

"I don't care." Riven spat "It doesn't change the fact I still don't like this."

Al sighed, shaking his head "Like it or not, it's a necessary evil…" Adjusting his summoner's robes, he leaped onto Elsa's back with ease. Riven managed to get on Len with out much complaint, but even still Al still had to ask.. "Riven…you have rode a horse before, right?"

"A few times." Riven replied, taking the reins in her hand "I'm a bit rusty though.."

Still not entirely sure, Alidar sighed and urged Elsa onwards. Both of them rode to the entrance of the village, where Lorson waited. He sat upon a cart with a black horse whom he called Thunder. In the cart was supplies, tents, and everything the trio would need for the journey. Al smirked "You always did like to be prepared for everything. You haven't changed a bit, Lorson."

The man grinned "I always did love camping trips…shame I can't do 'em anymore. Kinda of hard these days.." Lorson spied Riven and smiles "Riven the Exile, finally good to meet you in person."

Riven smiled, urging Len along side Lor's cart and extending her hand, which Lorson took "Indeed. It's nice to finally meet you. I've heard a lot about you, a good friend of Alidar and Lizza." She glanced over to Alidar "Hopefully you two will behave on our trip. I do not plan on being pranked on out way to that…" The woman's faced hardened slightly "…Dreaded…city…"

When Riven urged Len forward, and when she was out of ear shot, Lorson looked over to his friend "Guess she isn't happy about this idea huh?"

"You're asking a woman who was born and raised to spill Demacian blood to go and ask for their help…" Al replied as he gently dug his heels into Elsa's flank "You expected this to be easy?"

Lorson chuckled and flicked his reins to get Thunder moving "I always did like a challenge."

They had traveled for a day when they past the Institute of War, riding on into the Marshs of Kddus. It was simply a wetland, with not many trees and large ponds of water. It was advised that all travelers were to stick to the roads…given strange and dangerous creatures roam the marshs, always seeking pray to feast on.

Riven came up beside Lorson, having not spoken to him ever since they began the journey. Given that they had at least another week's worth of travel ahead of them, it would have been nice to get to know the man and his background. "So, Lorson." She said in a friendly tone "I do believe you've not told me much about yourself. What was your life before you joined the Institute."

Lorson looked at the Exile, and then to Alidar who rode ahead of them. Alidar had taken note of the question, and had glanced behind him to give Lors a reassuring nod. "I was born in Demacia." Lorson began, noticing Riven cringe at the mention of the city "My family is known as the Bearhearts, a strong bunch. Despite our stature, most of my family became accomplished wizards and magi."

Lorson reached into his robes to pull out a necklace which had a symbol of a bear's head with it's maw open in a silent yet fierce roar "Most of my family figured I would have made a great fighter, but I wished to study the magic used by those of the Institute of War, and try and help make the world a more peaceful place…even if it might be temporary." He squeezed the necklace tight in his hand "My family was doubtful, so I decided that I would do my best to be the best representative of the Institute as I can, and so became a Diplomat."

He'd gesture to the horizon, where Riven knew behind the grey clouds and fog…Demecia resided. "I've been keeping good relations between Demacia and the decisions made by the Institute for some time now. And I can tell you, nothing has ever gone sour for me…" Lorson said, lowering his hand. Riven noticed that his smile faltered a bit, and added "Yet."

"No need to be so negative." Alidar called from the front "I have faith Lorson's abilities, I wouldn't trust any other to help us out with this."

Riven rolled her eyes "For you sake, Alidar, I hope you're right." She looked back down to Lors "And then of course you met Alidar and Lizza."

"And Little Miss Marsy." Lorson would finish with a hint of pride in her voice "That little thing has the potential to be the best Summoner I've ever seen. I've considered her to be like my own little sister."

Riven chuckled "She is quite sweet, isn't she?" She'd say, remembering all the brother and sister moments she had seen with Marsy and Al. Lorson nodded "When I didn't have a class with Alidar and Lizza, I'd take care of her. Read her stories…read more stories…and MORE stories.."

"I never knew she was such a book worm." Riven said, brow raised. Alidar chuckled "Yea, she used to love reading. Now that she has most of the knowledge for Summoning, she doesn't read so much anymore. She just focuses on her duties as a Summoner."

"I see…" Riven raised her hand to her mouth to suppress a yawn "Hey, when are we setting up camp? I'm really tired…"

"We can't stop." Lorson said, rather plainly to Riven surprise given his cheery attitude moments before. "How come?" Riven asked.

Alidar pulled Elsa to a stop, which in turned made the other two behind him stop as well. Al's eyes were to the Marsh, and he raised his hand and pointed. Riven followed his finger until she saw what he was pointing at. In the fog of the Marsh, she saw a large for legged figure prowling. She hardly heard the creature, it only made light splashes as it walked through the Marsh.

"Marsh wolf." Alidar said in a hushed tone "It's been following us ever since we stepped foot here. It waits for you to take one step off the path…and before you know it, you're gone."

Riven couldn't help but swallow a lump in her throat "And…what's stopping it from attacking us now?"

Lorson held up a lit lantern, a noticeable growl came from the large beast shrouded in mists "Light. It's sensitive eyesight can't handle anything more than a lit candle…so it stalks travellers at night, wait for them to sleep….and when their only light source goes out…"

Lorson nodded his head to the beast "Dinner time."

Riven frowned, looking back to the beast. Alidar spurred Elsa onwards "Sleep on the horse if you want to. Len will not let you fall."

When the Riven and Lorson got moving again, the Exile rested her head against Lens muscly neck. It wouldn't be the most comfortable sleep, but it would have to do. As she closed her eyes, she watched as the beast in the fog continued to stalk them.

It had taken them another day to get out of the Marsh, and another three before Demacia finally came into view. They were just finishing packing up camp, given Lorson and Alidar hadn't slept since their journey into the Marsh. Riven was surprised the two had lasted so long with out sleep, and had treated them to breakfast of roasted rabbit she had caught, much to their surprise.

"I never knew you could hunt." Alidar said as he sat down by the fire.

"I can't, however I can set up a nasty snare. It's one of the things that kept me alive being an Exile…plus I'm a soldier. We are trained for these kinds of situations." She smiled at the man as she prodded one of the rabbits to check it was cooked.

Once they had eaten, they set off…and it wasn't long until they neared the gates of Riven's worst enemy. Demacia stood, gleaming and proud before them. The city itself looked like it could hold twice the amount of Noxus' population. Never in her entire life did Riven ever saw herself coming to ask the Demacians for help…any other Noxian would have been dead this close to the city.

A figure stood at the gates of Demacia, suited in red gleaming armour. Riven knew this figure…in fact she was the very first champion she had ever faced when she joined the League. It was Shyvana, the Half-Dragon.

Next to the woman were a small troop of Demacian soldiers, as if they were expecting the trio to arrive. When they were close enough to the gates, Alidar motioned the others to stop. "Riven, wait here. Lorson, let's go."

Riven grumbled under her breath as she watched the two dismount and walk over to Shyvana, who stared the two of them down with those fiery orange eyes. "Shyvana.." Lorson greeted respectfully. "Lorson, good to see you're back." She'd reply with the same respectful tone before turning to Alidar "And you must be Penrison, Lorson told me much about your adventures, it's nice to meet you in person."

"Like wise, Shyvana, thank you for helping us…" Alidar gave the woman a respectful bow. Riven watched on from on top of Len, somewhat ashamed by the fact that a Noxian would bow so respectfully to a Demacian…even if Shyvana was a dragon, she was still aligned with their king.

As if Shyvana sensed her disgust, Riven saw her eyes fall upon her "Riven the Exile. Approach." Even though it was in a calm tone, it sounded more of a command than an actual suggestion. Reluctantly, Riven dismounted and walked over and nodded to the Dragon "Shyvana."

Shyvana narrowed her eyes at the Noxian soldier, sniffing once "The stench of Noxus…I almost forgot what it was like. Still as foul as ever I see."

"Now now ladies…" Lorson stepped in, speaking in a even tone. "If she has something to say, let her say it. I still don't forget when I rammed my blade into her scaly hind in the Rift." Riven spat. "Riven!" Alidar growled "Enough!"

Shyvana grinned "Still haven't lost that fighting spirit I see? Well regardless…seeing as we're going to be working together for this little meeting, the King has advised that if you try anything with in our walls, you will die. Regardless if you are a Personal champion or not…so for your sake, and that of your Summoner, don't try anything."

With that, the Half-Dragon turned on her heel and walked inside the city, Lorson and the the group of soldiers in tow. While stable masters tended to the horses, Riven and Alidar followed. "How do Shyvana and Lorson know each other?" Riven asked in a hushed tone.

"Shyvana is Lorson's Personal Champion. She is the only reason we were allowed to have this meeting with the king in the first place, or else it would have been a lot harder." Alidar replied.

"You seem to be making it a habit of keeping secrets from me…do watch yourself." Riven snarled before walking ahead of him. Despite being scowled at, Al let out a sigh of relief. At least she was here and actually going on with this.

Shyvana lead Alidar and Riven to an inn. It was made of white stone, and was at least three stories up. The Half-Dragon gestured to the door "All visiting Summoners rest here. You must be tired, go get some rest." She nodded to Lorson, who nodded back before turning on her heel and walking away "Your meeting with the king is tomorrow in the evening."

The two stood outside for a moment, Alidar's eyes soon drawn to the clean architecture and gleaming towers "I've been to Demacia a few times…every time I look at it I think of those who live outside the walls of Noxus…why couldn't all of the citizens live here, happily…and with out fear."

"Those who live in Demacia are to comfortable with their life. They sit here in their rich homes getting fat and sloppy, hiring people to simply walk them around a square" Riven growled "It makes them weak."

"Both sides have something that make them strong, Riven. Demacia is honor bound and want a better future. Noxus wants domination, and control…which could also lead to 'peace' per-say…but not the good kind." Al smiled and opened the door to the Inn and gestured to Riven "In the mean time, try and be nice?"

Riven catched the eyes of two Demacian women whispering to each other and occasionally glancing towards her. She narrowed her eyes, and the two women quickly skittered away knowing they were discovered.

Shaking her head, she entered, Alidar close behind.

Much to Riven's relief, the Inn was rather empty. The Inn Keeper, a plump woman sitting on a stool behind the reception knitting peacefully, soon caught sight of her two new guests "Welcome! To the Summoners Rest. It's a pleasure to see you again!"

Both Champion and Summoner glanced at each other before returning to the woman "But…this is the first time you've met us."

The woman was silent for a moment, though kept the cheery expression as she thought about her words "Really?…hrm, strange." She went back to her knitting. There was an awkward silence before Alidar finally walked over and placed two coins on the counter. The woman looked at the money, then to Al "What's this for?"

Alidar gave the woman a dubious look "A..room for two? Two beds?"

"Oh!" The woman gasped, reaching under the counter to pull out two matching keys and handed them to Alidar "My apologies, do enjoy your stay."

Al nodded slowly before nodding to Riven towards the stairs. When they were out of air shot, Riven looked behind her and then to Alidar "She was a bit.."

"Strange? Loopy? Probably both?…Yea I'm going to agree with you there." Alidar muttered. Their room was on the third floor, which when they found the right door, Al slipped the key in and opened it.

The room itself was amazing. Two beds with fine silk sheets with a curtain that could be drawn between them for privacy, a small dinning area, and a balcony with a table and two chairs. Riven walked over and gently touched the silken sheets, taking care as if they'd rip at the slightest disturbance "Far cry from the beds we sleep in at our own home…"

"Our beds aren't that bad." Alidar said as he placed their packs down "But…yea, they are very..fancy, aren't they." He walked over to open the doors that lead out to the balcony. They had a decent view of the city, and the busy life below them.

Riven came and joined him, leaning on the rails and leaning over to spell the flowers in the pots that hung there. Al smiled at the sight "One could say you're almost enjoying it."

Riven pulled away from the floor hastily before spitting on the soil "I'll admit..it's pretty. But that doesn't mean I still enjoying being here."

Shaking his head, Alidar walked back inside "In that case, I'm sure you wont mind if I took a bath first then."

Later that evening, Riven and Al staid in. Riven wore a simple shirt and shorts, eating a bowl of rice and honey coated chicken. Alidar sat there with the daily telegraph, a hot cup of tea in his hand, wearing likewise. The doors were open to let in the cool evening air. Riven finished her bowl and set it down in front of her before she glanced outside, where the city's night lights could be seen "Despite everything, people still live peacefully here…people walk the streets with out a care in the world, no need to look over your shoulder to see if anyone is following you.."

Alidar peered at the Exile over the telegraph "Demacia is a place of law and order…Noxus has that too, only they don't enforce it as much."

"I want people of Noxus to be like that…to be free with out worry." Riven murmured.

Alidar smiled and put the telegraph down "It will be soon, once we win."

Riven smiled, standing and walking over to one of the beds before throwing herself onto it "I'm tired…wake me when we have to see this King of theirs…" And with that, the woman was out like a light.

Al chuckled, walking over and blowing out the candle, with only the light from the city illuminating the room. Walking over, the man shut the doors, looking out to the city. Yes…he'd like that kind of Noxus..a much happier Noxus…where it's citizens would feel more safe, and free.

Pulling the curtains, he felt his way to his bed and laid down, pulling the soft silken sheets over himself. His thoughts went to Marsy, Ahri and Lizza. He silently prayed for their safety and health before closing his eyes and falling asleep.

The next day came, Riven and Alidar decided to wander the city and see if there was anything interesting they could discover. Riven could easily tell Noxus about how laid back and lazy the city was…and knowing Noxus, they'd use that to their advantage. First came uncertainty, then came chaos, then came destruction…and they'd hardly have to do any work. But this was not why Riven was here, today she was going to make peace with them…PEACE, out of all the other things she could think of while in the city of her enemy.

She decided to keep the hood of her cloak up, and keep her shattered blade well hidden from view, but even still the eyes of the guards were always upon the two of them…Alidar's Summoner robes was a dead give away that a Noxian roamed freely in Demacian walls.

They approach the center of the city, where the 'Royal Palace' as it were was. Lorson and Shyvana was waiting for them at the stairs, chatting to each other. From a distance, Riven could tell it was rather casual rather than serious…though with Shyvana, her face was a blank mask, a book that could not be read. Well…see is part dragon, it was something she expected.

When the two got close, both Summoner and Champion stopped talking to greet them. "You look refreshed. I assume you both slept well?" Shyvana asked, looking the two up and down. Alidar smiled and nodded "Quiet well, best sleep I've had in a while, thank you."

Shyvana looked to Riven, who simply nodded "I slept well."

Lorson coughed into his hand to break the noticeable tension between the two women "Right, well…follow us."

The four of them walked into the palace. Riven felt uneasy, with a royal guard at ever pillar and at every door. It was clear that if they slipped up once…there was no way out. They'd be dead before they even had a chance to reach the door.

They reached a large door, painted elegantly with the symbol of Demacia. Shyvana stood in front of it, turning to face Riven and Alidar "Are you sure you still want to do this?"

Both Summoner and Exile nodded. With that, Shyvana turned and pushed the doors open, revealing a large court room. Sat high in a large high back chair, was Jarven IV himself, with Xin Zhao at his side. Garen stood underneath him, along with Lux and soon Shyvana. Riven gave Lux a dirty look, not forgetting that one night she saw him with Ezreal.

Al rested a hand on her shoulder, reminding her of why they were here. Riven noticed a statue on one pillar, and not on another near Jarven's seat…it wasn't long until she realised that that statue just so happened to be Galio.

Another familiar face was Poppy, who just arrived and walked over to stand beside Shyvana. It was clear that every noticeable face of Demacia was here…wondering what two Summoners and a Noxian soldier wanted to ask of them.

Around the court room, Demacian officials, generals, and politicians were muttering and whispering to one another. Jarven rose from his seat, took his lance, and slammed it's hilt down on the floor, silencing the room. He glanced at the three faces before him, though he seem to stare more at Riven than the two Summoners "Do pull off your hood, Exile…it is pointless trying to hide your identity."

Riven sighed, reaching up to pull off her hood, while Alidar stepped forward and bowed respectfully "Your Highness, Jarven, I would first like to thank you for allowing us into your city, and letting us come to speak to you."

Jarven sat back down, staring at the man intently "So you must be Alidar Penrison…yes, Shyvana and Lorson has told me much about you. While I would guess your intention..you brought Riven with you, so clearly this is no ordinary visit. What is on your mind."

"I come with a proposal, Your Majesty…one which you may like if you are so willing to listen." Alidar replied, keeping a calm and collected tone. Whispers and mutters began to spread across the room again, which Jarven silenced with another tap of his lance on the stone floor.

Riven took this chance to look at the faces around the room. They all stared down at her, judging her, some even despising her. Lux was buys twirling her wand, while Garen, Shyvana and Poppy watched on.

"However…I wish you not to hear it from me."

Riven turned her attention back to Al, who had turned to her and extended his hand towards her "I would like to call Riven the Exile, former Commander of the Fury Company and veteran of the Ionian battle to step forward."

Riven's jaw almost dropped as Al called her forward with such gusto. She wanted to punch him in the nose again there and then, regardless of all that were in the room which once again erupted into whispers and muttering. "Really?" She hissed quietly to the man.

Lorson chuckled and pushed her forward, Alidar whispering back "You'll be fine."

Grumbling, Riven straightened her pose and stepped forward, staring up at Jarven and meeting him with an even gaze. All eyes were upon her now, and she wasn't going to cower like a child behind her Summoner, so she spoke "I want…" She started, the pressure getting to her a bit. She took a breath and exhaled before looking up at the man to try again "I wish for Demacia to help me take Noxus."

The room erupted into shouts and gasps of surprise. Lux lost her focus, the wand flicking up and landing on her head. A bit embarrassed, she leans over to pick it up, earning a smirk from Riven. Garen's eyes go wide, Shyvana…does nothing but stare at the trio, Poppy gives them a surprised look. Xin Zhao blinks at them, Jarven raises a brow, and even Galio shifts a bit at Riven's proposal.

"Shyvana." Jarven spoke plainly. Shyvana, who some how heard that over the outburst, let out a fierce and powerful roar so inhuman the whole room was quickly silenced. Once everyone had sat back down and regained their composure, Jarven spoke again "Here stands the Child of Noxus…the Poster Child, the famed girl who was suppose to represent Noxus in battle…comes to me today to ask me to help her take it…" He glanced to Alidar "And what does the Institute of War have to say of this?"

Lorson raised his hand, which held a sealed scroll "This scroll contains the Institutes cooperation with this plan." He stepped forward to hand it to Shyvana, who then handed it to one of the servants, who then handed it to Xin Zhao, who then handed it to Jarven. Breaking the wax seal, the Fourth read the letter at his own pace before handing it back to Xin "Very well..but why do you wish to do this? Explain yourself, Exile."

Riven glanced to Alidar, who nodded and urged her on. Sighing, she met the Fourth's gaze again "I…changed, that day when I watched both Noxian and Ionian fall on the battle field…victims to a fate unimaginable. I watched as flesh melted from their bodies, their skin rotting before their very eyes. I saw a man raising his hands to his eyes as the literally melted away in his sockets, turning to liquid…"

Riven could have sworn she heard someone almost throw up, having a very clear image of what she was talking about "How I am still alive today still surprises me…whether or not the Gods willed it, or if I was just plain lucky, I will never know." Riven reached down to draw her blade, which in turn made every other guard put their hands on the hilts of their weapon, even Garen, but Jarven raised a hand and put them at ease.

Riven held out her broken sword to Jarven, making sure it was in full view of everyone "I was given this blade, imbedded with the magics of Noxus, as a gift. I believed that the strongest survive, and this blade was to prove that point…but all of that was a lie." Riven closed her eyes "Now look at it…I was lied to. It was win no matter the cost, and that cost…was the lives of my entire Company."

"A sword mirriors it's owner…my spirit was shattered, broken, but not lost. I came to the Institute to fight on my own terms, to show the true Spirit of Noxus, and to try and find a way to change it…yet every night when I close my eyes I always remember that battle field, it haunted me over and over again…I was on the verge of dispair." Lowering the sword, Riven turned to gesture to Alidar "Then…in my darkest hour, I sat in an Inn, about to give up all hope, when someone knocks on my door. He said he wished to speak to me, to talk to me…and I let him in." Alidar smiled at the Exile, and nodded at her to keep going. Riven returned the smile and returned her gaze to the Fourth "He came with his little Sister, and a tray of food, placing a card infront of me and claiming that I was to be his personal Champion. I was dubious, until he gave me his reason."

Riven took another step forward "Alidar Penrison was born of Noxian blood, and has gone through hard times at such a young age, all to keep his sister and child hood friend safe. When his parents died to the so called 'Noxian way', he took his family and left Noxus knowing that only despair would wait for him. He sought to change Noxus…and asked for my help. I do not regret my decision when I agreed. He has shown me much, and shared more. He's become my brother and friend…I want to help him change Noxus, because I believe I owe it to him for helping me, for picking me up and getting me back on my feet. To give me hope for a better Noxus."

The room was quiet despite one chuckler who was swiftly silenced as the person next to them smacked them to shut them up, much to Riven's relief. Jarven narrowed his gaze, processing the words in his head, and giving her a calculating stare "Touching…but what you ask is for another Rune War. How would Demacia benefit from this?"

Alidar stepped forward "We do not plan to ask you to fight them on the field outside the Rift, or else the Institute will be forced to put a stop to it. The plan is simple, Riven is to challenge Darius and Swain, and defeat them. Once she wins, she'll have the right to Noxus' throne. How Demacia will benefit is that once she rules, there will be no war, and there shall be no conflict. We'll settle things in Zuan and focus on more pressing matters that ale Valoran today."

Riven spoke again "Jarven, I know this is strange, trust me it is for me too…but lend me your lance. All I ask is when I win you shall not harm Noxus in any way, and to escort us to the palace to guard us from Assassins. Please…I beg of you, help me change my home."

Jarven glanced around the room before returning his gaze to Riven "Wait outside…me and this council have much to discuss. Lorson you stay here too…" He nodded his head "Dismissed."

Alidar and Riven bowed before exiting the room, the large doors closing behind them. They found a pillar to stand beside, where they both sat down letting out sighs of relief. Alidar chuckled "That was a nice speech you made there…and you said you sucked at politics."

"It's hard to come up with a speech on the spot you know, you moron." Riven scowled at the man before leaning on the man and wrapping and arm around him "But, thanks."

She let go and the two waited for what seemed like an eternity. There were shouts heard here and there, but other than that there was silence as far as they were concerned. It was an hour before they were finally called back in. They stood in the middle of the room, staring up at Jarven who rubbed his eyes, clearly weary after the recent discussion. Riven and Alidar stood, nervous, wondering if they had done enough to convince the Fourth to help them.

"Riven the Exile…Alidar Penrison…" Jarven started.

Riven bit her lip and squeezed her eyes shut. It was the moment of truth.

"I've agreed to help you. And so has those gathered here."

Alidar let out the breath he been holding, and Riven almost felt faint. They actually did it, they actually convinced Demacia to help them. Jarven waved his hand "This court is dismissed. I suggest you two get back to the Inn and get some rest…I'm sure you'll have interesting news for your friends back at the Institute…"

Alidar and Riven exchanged glances, smiling at each other before walking out. Lorson and Shyvana waited for them. Lorson picked the both of them up in a large bear hug "Good work you too! Couldn't have done it better myself."

"We couldn't have done it with out you, Lors" Alidar managed to get out as he was crushed. The large man put them down, and Shyvana stepped forward, extending her hand to the two "Looks like I'll be seeing you two in the future…good luck."

Alidar took the Half-Dragon's hand and shook it, however when Shyvana extended her hand to Riven, the Exile was a bit reluctant. After a moment, Riven took it, taking Shyvana's firmly in hers…and regretting it when she almost felt like Shyvana was crushing it. Letting go, she simply smiled, trying to ignore the pain. Lorson sighed "So…what now?"

"Now…" Alidar started as he shove Riven, who shoved him back "We go home. We have a Birthday to prepare for."

After many good byes and a stocking up of supplies, Riven and Alidar left the city. They once again were crossing the marsh, Riven's eyes searching the fog for their large four legged companion. "Hey Riven." Alidar's voice caught her attention. Alidar rode upon Elsa with a lit lantern near his lap as they continued along the road "What are you going to give Lizza for her birthday?"

Riven mused about the question for a moment, trying to think of something that Lizza would like. She couldn't by her a pendant, Alidar had that covered…perhaps a nice ring? A dress?

The Exile shrugged "Not sure yet, we'll see when we get home."

The two rode on in silence before Alidar growled and pulled Elsa to a stop. Riven quickly pulled Len's reins and pulled up along side Al "What's the matter?…" she whispered. Alidar raised his hand, his eyes scanning the fog. Riven searched too, until she finally noticed the grass along side the roads seemed…out of place.

Five spots around them came to life in the form of men, who laid in wait for them. Elsa and Len panicked, getting on their hind legs and throwing off their riders. Both Al and Riven hit the floor hard, winded. Riven recovered more quickly, pulling her Summoner up to his feet, before the two of them stood back to back against their ambushers.

Riven squinted at one of them, and noticed the symbol of a beast's skull on the leather armour underneath the grassy disguise. "Al…these are Noxian assassins! By the looks of it…"

"They belong to Swain.." Al finished, raising his lantern "What do you want from us?!"

One of the assassin's chuckled "We've heard of your plans, Penrison…and once we bring back your heads, Swain is gonna pay us like nobles. Don't worry, we'll make it quick…just hold still long enough and it'll be all over. Honorable like you like it, right Riven!?"

The other four Assassin's chuckled and drew their blades. Riven drew her sword, and Alidar's hands glowed with red hot flame. It was only when Alidar spied a large figure in the fog, that he stopped channeling and leaned back into Riven "When I tell you to grab my hand…grab it, and what ever you do…do not let go."

Riven glanced over her shoulder and caught sight of the figure, nodding slowly. The assassins slowly closed in, Alidar waited for the right moment before whispering "Now."

Riven grabbed Alidar's hand and held onto it tightly. He brought the two of them to the ground, the light in the lantern going out. The five Assassins looked around, as if their pray suddenly vanished. Riven was about to ask what he did until she noticed the strange field that surrounded them. It seemed to be made of air, though she wasn't sure…it seemed different.

"Where the hell did they go?!" One shouted

"Quick! Get some light! Quickly!" Another shouted, a audible growl was heard, and light splashes steadily got louder and louder.

Every attempt to light their only lantern was snuffed out by a gust of air, no doubt thanks to Alidar. Before they had another chance, the large beast charged. Two large light moss green jaws clamped down on one of them, throwing them into the air and swallowing them whole. The remaining four watched in horror as their companion, and their only light source, was devoured. It was only when another one of their companions was crushed by the Marsh wolf's paw did they began to panic.

Riven watched on in awe while Alidar remained focused on maintaing the spell. It was a large shaggy beast with light moss green fur and black eyes. It's teeth were the same color as dark grey stone, covered in blood from it's latest victim. Before she knew it, the other three Assassins were dead, and the wolf began to feast. It devoured the Assassins easily enough, and then it raised it's head to look directly…at…them.

"Al..I think it knows where we are…" Riven muttered. Alidar was already ahead of her, lowering the spell and lighting the lantern. The wolf howled as the bright light shone in it's eyes. It howled and it whined before bolting back into the fog, trying to shield it's eyes from the harsh light.

The two stood there, bloody patches of their supposed killers were scattered around them. Riven felt light headed, though kept her footing "That…was very risky…and I hate you for it."

"We're alive, aren't we?" Alidar said with a sly smirk. Elsa and Len, bless their hearts, hadn't run far, not wanting to abandon their riders. Once they climbed onto their horses, they rode on. "I take it Swain knows of our plans…" Riven said "This could be troublesome."

"Given these Marsh's history along with the Marsh Wolves..chances that he thinks we're dead are pretty solid, given the Assassin's could also have been devoured before they left the Marsh. That gives us a least a month before he figures out we're alive still. In that time we plan and we prepare…and we watch." Alidar flicked Elsa's reins "Lets get home quickly….I can already smelly Lizza's cooking."

Riven smiled. She'll have to enjoy this month while it lasted…because after that, it's not going to be easy sailing.

There we go! Kind of slow, but we'll be picking up the pace soon enough.
