Yes this is a new chapter, and yes the next one will be the last. Don't worry! Everything is going to be resolved. And I will have it up before school ends!

I woke up the next morning feeling incredibly small and empty, two things that I neither was or liked feeling. I felt both hungry and nauseous at the same time and I don't know how that could be but eating right now wasn't going to fix anything. I went downstairs and found Logan standing in the open doorway to the refrigerator.

"Shouldn't you be at school?" I asked, making him jump.

"Yeah, but what my mom doesn't know won't kill her... Oh my god I didn't mean it like that Kendall I'm-."

"It's okay." I told him. "I know what you meant."

He smiled slightly then continued, "Do you want anything? To eat, I mean."

"Yeah," I said rubbing my hands across my face. "An overly sugared cappuccino with a shot glass of Red Bull to go with it."

"I'm guessing you didn't sleep very well."

"I've barely slept at all in the last two days... except when I blacked out yesterday but that doesn't count. So, no, I didn't sleep well at all."

"Well we're out of coffee, do you want go get some? I can get us a discount at Starbucks." He said with a sly grin.

"Won't your boss wonder why you aren't at school."

"You make it sound like this is the first time I've ever ditched school."

I shrugged and we got into his car. We walked in and his co-worker was standing behind the counter.

"Hey Logan, it's final week you know that right?" He said sarcastically.

"Yeah, and I also know that I've had a 3.8 grade point average since middle school. So that's the least of my problems."

"Touche kid. What can I do for you?"

"I need a coffee for my friend and I, with as much sugar in it as the state will legally allow."

"Alright, you know the drill, make it yourself and I won't charge you."

"Done." Logan said running behind the counter and into the back room.

I laughed a little and rested my arms on the counter. "You and Logan seem to be pretty close friends for being co-workers."

"Yeah," The guy said. "He's been working here since he was fourteen, so he's kind of like my little brother. We look out for each other, you know?"

"Yeah, I do." I sighed. " I'm Kendall by the way."

"Chris." he said, his hand extend towards me. A minute later Logan came back, two steaming cups of whatever in both of his hands.

"Bottoms up." He said, tipping his head back and downing half of it in in one gulp.

"Dude how the hell do you do that?" I asked him.

"I don't know immunity I guess."

I looked back at Chris who just threw his hands up and gave me a baffled look before disappearing into the back room.

I turned back around just as the bell above the door went off and someone walked into the small coffee house. He had on a leather jacket, some stubble on his chin and his dark brown hair swept over to one side. If he hadn't been standing in front of me, I would've thought Logan had aged five years over night. I grabbed Logan's wrist and pulled him right up to my ear.

"Don't look now, but I think E.J just walked in." I whispered so I knew no one else would hear."

Slowly he took a step back and turned around. A minute later he turned back around to me, his eyes as wide as plates. "I didn't think I would ever see that jacket again."

"What are you going to do?" I asked him.

"I don't know." He said. I watched as he went up behind the tall man and took a large deep breath. "E.J?"

E.J turned around and looked puzzled, "I only ordered one thing."

"Oh no, I know. I uh... it's me, Logan?"

"Okay?"

"Don't you remember me?"

"Kid I don't even know you." He said turning to leave.

"What? I-uh." Logan turned to me, his eyes begging for help.

"Prove it." I mouthed to him.

"I'm your brother." Logan blurted, E.J stopped. "Your full name is Ebeneezer Jude Mitchell and you're birthday is the day before Christmas. Your favorite color is green which is ironic because I've never seen someone hate Christmas as much as you do. When you were in the third grade you switched schools because you were tired of people calling you scrooge. After that you demanded the people call you E.J. That jacket you're wearing is from our dead beat of a dad who disappeared when you were fourteen, and I was nine. You locked yourself in your room for two days because you thought it was your fault.

"You were diagnosed with the early stages of adult schizophrenia after you nearly strangle because I called you an idiot. Once when we were playing football, I tripped and twisted my ankle and you carried me home on your back just to make sure I didn't hurt myself more than I already had. Please E.J you have to believe me."

I looked over to E.J whose head was staring intently at the ground. He reached into his jacket pocket then turned back around. His face had formed a scowl and a small gun was in the palm of his hand, pointed directly at Logan's chest.

"Who told you that?" E.J growled.

"What? N-no one, I-I."

"Who told you?" he yelled. His other hand began to twitch and he sounded like he was mumbling to himself. "You're not crazy, he's not real... you're not crazy."

"Look I'm being serious I am. I'm your little brother and I haven't seen you in a really long time, please you have to believe me." Logan pleaded with a shaky voice.

"Shut up." E.J muttered, moving the gun closer.

I had to do something or someone would get hurt.

"Hey, look just calm down okay." I tried.

"I said shut up!" He yelled. In the blink of an eye, the gun slipped out of his hand, and landed on the ground with a loud pop.

I opened my eyes, expecting to see Logan a mess of blood and screaming pain. Instead I saw the door fly open and saw E.J go running out. I looked down and noticed a red spot that was growing above my left hip. I'd been shot.

I looked to Logan who looked absolutely terrified. I felt my knees begin to give out.

"Help." I tried to say. I felt my body meet the ground below me and my surroundings became fuzzy. I heard various voices yelling and what appeared to be someone crying. After while I gave into the inevitable and slipped into unconsciousness.

Huge ass cliff hanger I know but that's okay! The next one will be up soon! As always please leave a nice review and have a great day!
