Hi everyone and welcome to the newest chapter of "Do You Believe In Magic?" I am actually super proud of myself for getting this far without losing interest in the story, so WHOO GO ME! I hope you all love this new chapter and possibly leave a review and tell me what you like about it? I know how many people are reading, so it's kinda unfair that I only get one review per chapter :( ENJOY EVERYONE!

"Doing nothing is very hard to do, you never know when you're finished."

Sav

Life had never been about winning to me. Sure, it had always had a purpose, but winning wasn't it. You were born, you lived and then you passed on. All the things in between were just something the so called 'human race' had invented. I knew for sure that winning wasn't all that. Good luck trying to explain that to Oliver.

Oliver's cackling laugh split the silence in the common room like a knife.

"I won!" He cried as he threw his arms up in the air. I laughed at his childish antics and looked up from my DADA textbook.

"Oliver," I began. He looked at me with a questionable look on his face. "It was just a game of Exploding Snap." I finished with a laugh.

"So? I still won!" Oliver replied as the grin on his face started to become contagious. I felt my smile twitching at the corners of my mouth. Oliver crawled across the floor toward the sofa and pulled himself up next to me.

"He's so…." Angelina started with a laugh, but she was cut short by the one and only Gryffindor Quidditch Captain. Oliver threw a playful glare at Angelina before he turned his attention toward the one and only Gryffindor Quidditch Captain.

Charlie Weasley was the epitome of buff and the super sexy Quidditch Player. He was tall, with muscular arms that could make any girl feel safe, the most gorgeous honey brown eyes and the signature head of Weasley ginger hair. The way he managed his team made all the sixth years swoon.

A sharp yet loud whistle rang shrilly through the Gryffindor common room making everybody cover their ears to try and block the annoying noise. Angelina, Alicia, Eila and I turned our attention away from the boys' antics and toward the eldest Weasley who stood in front of the notice board.

"Thanks everyone! I'm just going to let everyone know that tryouts for this years' team are happening on Saturday morning. Since this is my first year as captain, I would like everyone on the team last year to re-audition for their spot on the team. I hope to see you all there! Just write your name on the sign-up sheet with your preferred position and then get yourselves pumped for what is going to be an amazing year!" Charlie yelled out into the near silent common room as he turned around and pinned the sign-up sheet onto the notice board.

"Oliver, are you going to audition again?" Fred asked him as they stopped their game of exploding snap to turn their attention toward Oliver who was sat with me on one of the couches.

"Of course I am! Quidditch is awesome! Just wish I didn't have to audition again. If this year's try-outs are the same as last year I'm going to die!" He replied as his head lolled onto the back of the couch.

"Oh no, dear Oliver has to re-audition for his spot as Gryffindor's Keeper! Whatever will we do?!" I cried, as I feigned a shocking disaster.

Oliver faked a laugh before his hands launched toward my ribs and his fingers danced their way down the side of my torso.

"You just wait until you try out for Quidditch Vannah! Then you'll see exactly what I'm talking about!" Oliver cried as I kicked my legs out in defense. It wasn't long before I heard a very satisfying thud and Oliver groan out in pain.

"That'll teach you Ollie!" I cried as I squirmed away from Oliver's shaking figure as he tried to stifle his laughs. I crawled over to where Fred and George were still challenging themselves with the confusing game of Exploding Snap and left the giggling Scotsman to his troubles. The only thing that confused me was that I couldn't hear him laughing anymore. I turned my attention away from the two childish antics of the Weasley twins and stretched my head around to where Oliver was.

Instead of seeing Oliver lying on the couch, like I expected, I saw him with parchment in his hands. My parchment. MY DADA essay!

"No Oliver!" I cried as I jumped up from my position on the floor and raced over to him. But he was just too quick.

"Vannah, what is this? You can't hand this in to Professor Regan! Tell you what, tomorrow we'll go down to the Willow and I'll help you out with the rest of your essay? Ok?" He asked as he handed the parchment back to me.

"But Oliver, you have Quidditch try outs tomorrow," I began, as a look of realization dawned on Oliver's face. "Besides, it's not due until next week, so we could do it another day! I have to focus on my Astronomy essay anyway!" I finished as I took the parchment out of Oliver's outstretched hands.

"You're not gonna come and watch my tryout?" Oliver asked gently. I looked up from my essay to see his bottom lip puffed out in a pout and his eyes were wide. Oliver's "puppy dog eyes" were legendary. No one knew of anyone besides his family that could resist them. His hazel eyes blinked at me and his bottom lip started to quiver.

"Of course I'm going to watch your tryout Oliver! How could I miss it?" I asked with a smile as the saddening look on Oliver's face disappeared without a trace.

"Awesome!" He cried as he spread his arms out over the back of the couch. Angelina and Alicia just rolled their eyes and went back to their Potions homework, but not before they threw a smile in my direction.

I laughed quietly to myself as I rolled the parchment up into a scroll and then tied a black ribbon around it to keep it in place. Fred and George were at least trying to make the Exploding Snap more interesting, but it wasn't working. After playing it for a good hour, it gets kind of boring.

"Hey Sav, are we going to the Great Hall together later?" Eila asked as she walked in a pile of books under her arm.

"Sure Eila, but what's with all the books? How many classes are you actually taking?" I asked in disbelief as I attempted to count the crispy paged textbooks.

"The same as you, I just wanted to get a few more books so I can put it into my DADA essay," she replied with a smile. Fred and George just look appalled at the textbooks but quickly turned their attention back to the Exploding Snap. Seriously, were they not getting tired of that at all?

"Eila," Angelina began as she placed her Potions homework down on the couch. "It's a one thousand word essay, not the O.W.L's," she finished as she threw a smile in Eila's direction.

Eila was a sweet girl, but she strived for excellence in the simplest, easiest things. Almost like the most important thing in her life was to be excellent and perfect at everything. She sort of reminded me of a nerd. I laughed quietly to myself for a second before I crawled over to Oliver who was sprawled out over the couch.

Just as I was about to open my mouth and ask Oliver how his day was when the first bell rang out over the Gryffindor common room as an indication for the first years that it was lights out.

Oliver stood up from the couch and wrapped his arms around my shoulders.

"Good night Vannah, sleep well," he whispered in my ear as I breathed in his heavy, chocolate scent.

"Good night Ollie, I'll see you at breakfast?" I asked as I pulled away from the warmth that I had grown accustomed to.

"Of course," he replied as he threw the smile that made me just want to smile all the time. I grinned at Oliver one more time before I turned my attention to the twins who were packing up their Exploding Snap.

"Night boys!" I cried, as I threw my hand up in a wave. Fred and George smiled and waved their hands.

Eila, Angelina, Alicia and I made our way up the stairs to the girls dorms.

"So what are we going to do after the Quidditch tryouts tomorrow?" Angelina asked as she opened the door to our dormitory.

"Oliver and I might be working on my DADA essay, but we might also go down and chill in the courtyard if you guys want to join?" I asked, as I walked over to my bed and pulled back the covers.

"Is that a trick question!?" Alicia cried out as she also pulled the covers back on her bed.

"We definitely want to see this whole 'budding romance' between you and the infamous Oliver Wood!" Angelina yelled out as she walked away from her trunk and flopped down onto her unmade bed.

"There is nothing going on between Oliver and I, how many times do I have to tell you guys!?" I cried out as I pulled the covers up over my torso and put my arms behind my head.

"Sav, you might not realise it yet because you only see him as a friend, but he is totally into you and everybody can tell!" Eila cried from her trunk as she rummaged around trying to find who knows what.

"This conversation is now over!" I cried, as I rolled over onto my side and shut my eyes. I heard the other girls giggle slightly to themselves before silence encircled the room.

The first thing I heard when I opened my eyes was an owl as it pecked at my dormitory window. I heard Angelina groan as she pulled a pillow over her head in an effort to deafen out the screeches that the owl had started to get someone's attention.

"Somebody find out what that bloody owl wants before I pluck it and eat it for breakfast!" I heard Eila growl out quietly, but towards the end of the sentence, it was more like a scream.

I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and kicked back the covers. I threw my legs over the side of my bed and placed my feet on the cold, stoned floor.

"NOW!" Eila cried, as Angelina and Alicia stirred in their mid-morning sleep.

"I'm going," I snapped back as I made my way over to the owl at the window. I was pretty confused at the sight of Oliver's owl, his beak rubbed on the thick glass of the window.

I opened the window and took a sharp gasp in as the cold air rushed over my bare skin. The owl jumped onto the windowsill, puffed up his feathers and shook away the frozen, brittle air. I gave the owl a treat and took the note from its container on his leg. I scratched the owl's neck while he cooed at me and then watched him fly out the window and back to the Owlery on the other side of the school grounds.

I unrolled the parchment and took sight of the familiar scrawl of Oliver's handwriting. I felt a smile creep onto my face as I looked at what was written on the paper.

Vannah,

I hope this letter puts a smile on your face and makes your morning shine a little brighter.

I'll see you at breakfast.

Yours,
Oliver

I couldn't help the small laugh that escaped from my lips, which then issued a pillow being thrown at my head. There was a solid thud as it hit my head and I whipped around to see who had chucked the annoying object.

I located Eila as she moved around under her covers. She pulled her arms out from under her duvet and put them under her head as a makeshift pillow. I picked the fluffy, feather-filled object up off of the floor and then chucked it back at Eila. I smiled to myself as the satisfying thud and a groan from Eila assured me that the pillow had made its mark.

I closed the window and rolled up the parchment as I walked over to my trunk to get myself ready for the long yet eventful day ahead.

"What time is it?" I heard Alicia grumble as she rolled over in the bed.

I looked out at the sun and noted how low it was in the sky. I turned back to see Eila's face scrunched up in annoyance, the pillow still over Angelina's head and Alicia as she stretched her body to wash away the blanket of sleep that surrounded the eerily quiet dormitory.

"Early," I replied as I ruffled through piles of clothes. Damn the bloody expansion spell.

"Ewwwww!" Eila cried. "Early!" She sobbed into the pillow as she nuzzled deeper down into the mattress.

I pulled out my favourite pair of dark blue skinny jeans, my grey long-sleeved shirt and a black knitted vest. I dressed into them quickly and threw my pyjama's onto my pillows while I pulled the covers up and tucked them under the fluffy things that could be mistaken for clouds. I grabbed the clothes and pushed them under the pillows.

"See you later girls! Time for me to eat breakfast," I bid goodbye to the sleep deprived girls, opened the door to our dormitory and made my way down the spiral staircase to the crimson red and vibrant gold of the Gryffindor common room. Fred and George were lounged across one couch as their light snores filled the room. I walked over to them carefully, because if I had learnt anything from listening to the stories the other first year boys had told was that the twins were a force to be reckoned with when trying to wake them up.

Just as I was about to cross onto the rug that was mere metres from the couch that they lazed upon, I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I jumped at least a foot in the air and spun around to see Oliver lounged against the wall.

"Merlin, Oliver! Don't do that! You scared me half to death!" I whispered as to be careful not to wake the two beasts of sleep that slept metres from me.

"Sorry Vannah," he chucked as he made his way closer to me. It was only then I realised what he was dressed in. He had his sweats rolled up to his knees, a black, tight-fitting singlet and runners.

"I'm guessing you're ready for you tryout?" I asked, as I let me eyes roam up and down his body. He seemed to notice, because he practically reveled in the fact that I was looking at him the way I was.

"Course I am, are you ready to watch and find out what tryouts will be like next year?" He asked, as he shot a wink my way and arched his right eyebrow.

"Let me guess, they're gonna be hell?" I asked sarcastically as I let a light laugh escape from my un-glossed lips.

Oliver laughed before he nodded once. I couldn't help but laugh even more, as Oliver's laugh was practically contagious. He could make anyone happy just by smiling. To me, it was the best way to start off a Saturday morning.

When Oliver stopped laughing and a cold look fell over his face, I knew immediately that something was wrong as the air felt cold and brittle. I saw his chocolate, brown eyes train onto something or someone behind me.

My head whipped around so fast I could have gotten whiplash. But what caught my attention the most was the older boy with black hair and ice blue eyes, dressed in similar attire as Oliver. He looked to be at least three years older than me and he also looked to be just as strong as Oliver. I saw Oliver move out of the corner of my eye and instinctively my body shifted closer towards him.

"Mikael," he greeted coldly. The disposition in his voice was a chilling difference to his usual warm and sunny demeanor. I looked at him in shock and confusion. What had this Mikael done to Oliver to make him seem so cold and distant?

"Oliver," the boy greeted in a thick Irish accent. "Who is this beauty? Are you obsessed with keeping her all to yourself, or are you going to share her around?" The boy asked as he made his way down the last few steps of the spiral staircase and across the distance of the common room in seconds.

"No offense, leprechaun," I began as my eyes went narrow, "but I hate it when people who need their beauty sleep come out of hibernation early. Go back and don't come out until you're dead, but even then you'd still be damn ugly," I finished as I turned my attention back towards Oliver and grabbed his wrist as he tried to stifle his laughs, but failed miserably.

Mikael looked confused, stunned and then angry. He opened his mouth to say something but Oliver interrupted him before he could get a single word out.

"What are you even doing Wovan?" The way Oliver said his name was like poison. I looked on in complete and utter shock. I had never seen Oliver act this way towards anyone.

"I signed up for the position as Keeper see?" He replied as he pointed to the Quidditch team tryout sheet.

"You just had to sign up for the position I was going for. I hardly think that's a coincidence," he spat. It only took me a few minutes to realise that Oliver had clearly made this boy his rival, the real question was why? What had he done to change Oliver's sunny disposition?

"Come on Ollie, let's just get to the pitch, ok? Don't even bother with someone of the likes of him," I whispered to Oliver as I laid a gentle hand on his shoulder. That seemed to knock some sense back into him as his tight, rigged shoulders slacked and the air around him almost felt calm again.

"Yeah Vannah, let's get away from this creep," Oliver said loud enough for Mikael to hear. We turned away from the older boy and walked toward the portrait to the entrance of the common room.

"Are you nervous?" I asked as we stepped through the hole in the wall and onto one of the thousands of moving staircases.

"A little bit, but I know that if I just focus on the Quaffle and nothing else, then I'll do great!" He cried with a smile. A completely different person than what I saw just mere moments ago.

"I'm sure you'll do perfectly Oliver!" I laughed as his smile was completely and utterly contagious.

Time seemed to fly as we twisted and turned this way and that all throughout the castle until we were out in the lower courtyard and not really that far from the Quidditch Pitch. I looked up at the stands, with confusion probably written all over my face. I snapped out of my daze when I heard Oliver chuckle beside me. I turned my head and smiled.

"What?" I laughed as I started to walk down the stairs that led you straight to the pitch.

"The look on your face, it was cute," he whispered as he practically jumped down the stairs in excitement and anticipation.

What he said almost made me stop in my tracks and face-plant all the way to the bottom.

"Did he just call me cute?"

Awwww what a way to finish off a chapter! Finish with something cute and you'll always leave the readers wanting more, at least that's what I thought. So I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and stay tuned for the next chapter! Also, can anybody spot something from the dark, evil plan of the Unknown? REVIEW AND LET ME KNOW!

REVIEW RESPONSE TIME!

HannahPotterhead
Thanks so much for reviewing again lovely! So to answer your questions, since Sav is only eleven I really want to build her friendship with Oliver first before exploring a romantic relationship, so you probably won't be reading about their first kiss until "The Quidditch Queen" unfortunately, so sorry about that :( as for your other question, yes there is potential for a ball in the future, but I'm just not sure where I'm going to put it in the book as of yet. Hope you enjoyed the chapter lovely!

Also thank you to Lovinglifesince1993 and Lizard Breff for following! I hope you enjoyed this chapter and please, please let me know what you think?
