~Chapter 9~

Engrossing Eels

POV- BluTail

Quickly, I dodged the acid thrown my way. I dove back in the water and prepared myself to tackle. I swam in a circle and jumped out. The Changewing was thrown on to the grass. I took in some water and threw it at a Changewing behind Toothless.

"Thanks" he said.

"You owe me" I replied grinning. Then he shot a plasma blast to something behind me. I turned around to see that a Changewing got hit. I roughly pushed the dragon away.

"Owe what?" he asked smugly. I half glared at him as I draggged a Changewing under water. He was surprisd by my action and he struggled. It reminded me of when I met Toothless. It was not the same with this dragon though. I didn't go far either, because I had Astrid on my back. I let the Changewing go underwater and I swam up. All the dragons had left (minus the one underwater.) We had successfully finished our first day of training.

"That was good! Not bad for our first time" Hiccup said.

"Not bad? Admit it, we did amazing," Astrid stated smirking. "So where do fo next?" she asked.

"I marked of places on the map. I think we should look more in the middle of the seas. Lets fly." Hiccup responded. My eyes instinctively widened at the mention of that word. I softly growled and shook my head. "Why doesn't she want to fly?" Hiccup asked.

"Maybe she goes faster in the sea" Astrid suggested. I nodded my head. Yeah, lets go with that.

"Aren't your clothes already soaked?" Hiccup asked.

"I'm gonna need to go to the village" Astrid said.

"Why don't you go with Toothless. He has a controlable tail. I'll stay with... uh.." Hiccup said drifting off.

"BluTail" Astrid stated. Hiccup nodded. Astrid got on Toothless. "Be good" she said.

"BluTail seems like a trained dragon already" Hiccup said.

"I was talking to you" Astrid said. Before Hiccup could reply, Astrid's lips made contact with his face.

"You're seriously leaving me?" I asked Toothless.

"Hiccup's a good human. I trained him already" Toothless said.

"That doesn't enlighten me at all" I said.

"Well, you're nice" he said sarcastically. I shrugged.

"Looks like I'll stay with Hiccup. Alone." I said.

"What, do you want the same good-bye treatment they're having?" Toothless asked. I looked at Hiccup and Astrid. I wasn't sure what they were doing. It seemed like Toothless was teasing me. But what did he mean by that? Toothless gave me a wink and flew off with Astrid. I looked at Hiccup and he shrugged at me.

Hiccup wasn't as bad as I thought he was. He kept looking at me wings and mumbling something about flying. I'm getting really annoyed with the topic. I won't fly and why can't they respect my decision like Astrid did? Not long passed when Toothless and Astrid came back. He came next me.

"Did you die?" Toothless asked teasingly.

"No. But if I did, you were going to be the one to drag my body away" I said looking away and fighting away a smile.

"I wouldn't let my friend die on the sand. I would leaver her in the forest" he said grinning.

"Thank you" I said with joking sincerity. He chuckled.

"Should we go?" Hiccup asked.

"Don't wait up" Astrid said smirking. I lightly bit her arm again. She hopped on me and I jumped in the water. I swam forwards even though I had no idea where I was going. I gave a forceful flap and I advanced underwater. I looked up and I was able to see Toothless do all sorts of things. I saw him spin, dive, and flap high. He was doing this at a great amount of speed. It's just impressive how he makes sharp angles, or precise movements. When he flies by, all you could see is a black blur, then whoosh! He's gone. I envied that about him.

I decided to stop thinking about it. It's not good for the self-esteem. I flew forward to catch up. But Astrid motioned me to stop.

"BluTail, do you feel that?" Astrid asked. I stopped and began to feel a swishing motion below me. I glanced up and saw Hiccup and Toothless come towards us.

"What's the matter, Astrid?" Hiccup asked.

"I feel like there's something under us." she replied. I felt it again. Suddenly, a disgusting odor hit my nose. A slimy, gross creature was near. Some where close by, there was a splash.

"I think I see it too. Is it a dragon?" Hiccup asked. I shook my head and turned to Toothless. I flinched and frowned.

"You know what it is, right?" I asked. He took a whiff of the air and his eyes dilated.

"It's an eel" he replied. I panicked and swam back while splashing my wings on the water. "Woah, BluTail, calm down!" Toothless said. I ignored Astrid, and Hiccup's other warnings.

"No! It's an eel!" I said with disgust. "I stay away from these things" I said swimming quickly away. I dove deeper in the water and swam away. I heard and noise.

"BluTail, it's behind us" Astrid yelled. I turned around to see a long thin eel slithering behind me. My eyes widened and I gasped. (Which only made bubbles come out of my mouth.) I swam quickly away and made turns underwater, like I'd watched Toothless do in the air. Then, I noticed a black blur flying above me. I inched a little more to the surface.

"BluTail, you have to stop!" Toothless said.

"You want me to stop while an eel is chasing me?!" I asked with my eyes widening.

"Yes. It's following you because you're swimming away. Hiccup figured it out" he said. I thought about it and I was conflicted on my decisions. Suddenly, Toothless dove in underwater and blocked my way. I stopped, while jerking forward. Astrid crashed near my head because of the impact. Toothless held out a paw in front of me and I felt reassured. He nudged my head and he swam up. I noticed the eel had been swimming closer and it went right passed my arm and paw. I flinched and forced myself not to scream because of the contact.

It got closer to me. It slithered left and right trying to sense me. The odor was getting to me. I didn't want to smell the thing. I closed my eyes and heard a sound. Once I opened them, the eel swam away. I went up to the surface. I saw Toothless hovering and watching my presence.

"Did you die?" he asked.

"Yes" I replied gasping. Astrid sighed.

"Are you okay, girl?" Astrid asked. I dumped my head in the water.

POV-Toothless

I saved BluTail. Well... I didn't save her, but I threw a plasma blast before the eel could touch her. If I was in her place, I'd panick too. That's why I saved her. Because she's my friend, of-course. I wonder why she won't fly. I'm curious about that. Yet, BluTail says nothing about it! Why won't she? I won't be the one bring it up... because it might make her mad or uncomfortable. If someone would bring up the subject of my tail, I'd react horribly.

She'll eventually tell me, right? Yes. She has to. There's no use in thinking about it if I don't know. Currently, we were back on shore. Hiccup and Astrid dried up and set up two different... uh, tents, I think they were called. They looked like small shelters. I ate my fish while BluTail tried to recover from supposably being 'scarred.' She swam in a near-by lake. She just loves water. I quietly ate my fish while watching Hiccup and Astrid talk. I listened to all the sounds around me. The nature, my best friend, water splashing, and singing. Wait... singing? I angled my ears and I could hear the faint singing.

It was the beautiful sound. At the moment, I couldn't remember where I've heard it before, but I just had to go towards the melody. It was like I could wrap myself in these attracting sounds. It was like the peaceful rhythm of flying, only this was much sweeter. I ended up towards the lake, but then, the singing stopped. I took a moment to comprehend, that I was dragged into the lake. The weird type of hypnotism wore off and I swam out to see BluTail having the time of her life laughing at my mistake.

"Very funny" I said sarcastically.

"I knew that would get you again" she said laughing in between her words.

"So what, I heard attractive singing and I had to go towards it" I muttered. She stopped laughing and turned towards me.

"You think my singing is attractive?" she asked with a small smile. I shrugged.

"Yeah" I replied honestly. I saw her mood instantly brighten. That made me feel good. I also think it's kinda cute how she gets happy when I compliment her. Others wouldn't have known, because of the faint gestures she makes, but I know well enough to know that she has a brighter smile when I talk to her. Uh, I mean, when I give her compliments. Yeah... nothing else.

"Is anyone immune to the singing?" I asked. She took a moment.

"For females, the effect isn't strong. They do go towards it, but only out of curiosity" she replied.

"Is any one completely immune to it?" I asked rephrasing. BluTail took another moment.

"Yes... but I'm not sure if I should tell you" she said.

"Why? Are you scared I might be the one completely immune to it?" I asked playfully challenging.

"No, I know you won't be be able to be immune" she said.

"Then tell me" I said. She sighed/groaned.

"Then only one completely immune to it, would be my mate" BluTail responded. I tilted my head in curiosity.

"Do you have one?" I asked. She shook her head. "I might become your mate just to be immune" I said playfully.

POV- BluTail

I froze. Was he just kidding? How could I know? Why did it make me feel all jumpy? Why does my snout feel hot? Why do I have this new feeling?

"Whatever you say, Toothless. You're not immune now and I'll take full advantage of it" I replied smoothly. He half grinned at me.

"How are you holding up with being 'scarred?'" he asked, his grin not leaving him.

"I'm feeling better. Toss me a fish, will you?" I asked. He held the fish through his fangs and he threw it at me. Toothless looked at the fire in front of us.

"How do you stand swimming with eels?" he asked. I frowned and I was remembering of what had happened.

"I can't stand those slimy things! They're disgusting things, and I don't know why they wereput in the water in the first place!" I exclaimed.

"Aren't you a ball of sunshine?" Toothless asked sarcastically.

"No, I'm a ball of water" I said, "No that I think about today, I also noticed that you didn't go all insane with 'adventure' or 'challenges.'"

"Speaking of challenges, I'm going to ask you something" he said.

"Shouldn't you be asking to ask me something?" I asked.

"Just let me ask. When we were at sea, and the eel was there, why didn't you fly away?" I asked. My heart sunk at the question. I did my best to show no emotion.

"Why are you asking what I didn't do?" I asked.

"Because you're my friend. If Astrid and Hiccup are strong together, then why can't we be?" he asked. My gaze softened and I gave a light sigh. I could feel the sincerity of his words towards me. I smiled and looked away.

"Sorry," I started, "I don't answer serious questions" I replied.

I made up the thing about the eel. As you can see, their relationship is progressing. (Oh, la, la) Again, this was over due. I try my hardest to update but schools eating me alive. I caught up in all my work, so I could probably update in less than a week this time. Tell me what you think. Please review!
