Santana's POV

Before I knew it was time for the girl to graduate. I couldn't help but feel like a proud parent. The weather was great and I had Cupcake and Hercules flying around making sure nothing would ruin the girl's big day. I sat next to Rachel's dads during the ceremony, and it wasn't hard to say that both of them were just as dramatic as she was. When they called Quinn's name I couldn't help but stand clap and make as much noise as I could. After the ceremony we went out to dinner with Rachel and her Dads and then said our goodbyes so Rachel could go home and start to pack for our road trip tomorrow. The Berry men were so excited that Rachel wasn't going to being going to New York alone that they slapped some money in my hand for the expenses and told us to be safe. When I and Quinn finally got home I was exhausted and said I would pack in the morning. As I lay in my bed I couldn't help but think of everything that we been through. We were about to go back home to where everything started. I couldn't help but say I was a little nervous. I wanted to see my mom so bad, and my aunt. I wasn't sure if I could face my brother yet. He really looked up to me and the fact that I left without even saying goodbye; I can only imagine his disappointment.

I turn my head towards the door when I hear shuffling. It sounds like Quinn already started packing. I wonder how she'll feel when she gets to see her mom again. Will she want to stay? I sit up when that painful realization hits me, what if she wants to stay. She knows how to defend herself, what if she decided she's tired of running and wants a normal life with her mom. That thought never crossed her mind, and it frightens me, I don't know what I would do without her, and without Quinn I know Rachel would separate herself, meaning I'm going to be alone again.

I close my eyes and try to force the thoughts from my head, I can't be selfish, this is my problem not theirs. If they want to leave I have to let them go. I'll find a way to sever all ties between us and that damn demon myself. I need to just get to sleep, that way in the morning I can live out my little bit of happiness with my family before it's all over.

The next morning I'm packing our newly created four door pickup truck and preparing for our trip to New York. Cupcake and Hercules have already taken to the skies and I feel them circling above keeping watch we seem to never have the best of luck in the car, or in the dark for that matter, so I figure the sooner we leave out the better. Rachel and Quinn pull up in Rachel's car and pulls at least twenty bags from the trunk. I roll my eyes while they pack it in the back of the pickup. "Alright you two, time to roll. We're going from Ohio to New York and personally I'd like to get a few miles in before it gets dark." Rachel speaks up first, "I'm sorry are we not driving in the rain?" "You know how night time is for us, shit never goes right." "Have faith Santana, maybe thing will go well." I rolled my eyes at Quinn and her ever present optimism. Soon enough everything was packed and we started on our way.

After eleven hours filled with arguing, musicals, pit stops, naps, and unnecessary traffic we finally make it to New York. We didn't hit any paranormal issues, and we were all grateful for that. The girls were too tired to unpack so we just grabbed what we needed for that night and decided to unpack later. The place is nice, and I'm glad I bought it off the market before anyone else could. It's a four bedroom house with a basement upstairs and fenced in backyard. Quinn and Rachel pick their rooms, and with a little matter they both have beds and dressers. Anything else they may need I'll make in the morning. Cupcake and Hercules sleep in their selective partner's room, and I take the downstairs couch. I usually stay up on the first night in a new place. I keep myself busy by playing with my light matter, trying to get use to the burning sensation. I create a mini starry universe on the ceiling and sit back looking up into the sky. It's beautiful. I move the star around manipulating them until they create a Q. I hear noise behind me and look up the stairs to see Quinn and Cupcake coming towards me. I smile and sit up on the couch making room for her. She smiles and sits next to me, Cupcake sitting by her feet. She leans her head on my shoulder, and I wrap one arm around her using the other to continuing moving stars around. "You're getting good at using your light powers." "Yeah the more I practice the less it hurts, the stronger I get." "How are your wings?" I push them out and wrap them around us. "They keep changing, but they look an even white and black for the most part." Quinn smiles and then closes her eyes. I lie on the couch and pull her on top of me. She lays her head on my chest and closes her eyes. Soon I hear her breath even out and I know she's sleep. I erase the stars and close my eyes falling asleep to the sound of Quinn's heartbeat.

The next morning we decided to unpack everything to make our new home complete. Rachel walks down five blocks to the school she will be attending, in order to enroll for the upcoming semester. Quinn's school is the opposite direction, only a ten to fifth teen minute walk away. I'm worried about them on their own so I have Cupcake follow Quinn and Hercules with Rachel. I spend my time going room to room, making sure no evil lurks in the house, and then I place my aura around the house so I can tell when something, that doesn't belongs, gets too close. The girls return later that afternoon and we plan for our trip back to Baltimore. We decided to sleep here for another night and start our trip tomorrow. The sooner we get home the better.

That night while I'm on the couch Hercules and Cupcake comes downstairs. They each walk over and nudge my hand. I look at them curiously until I understand what they want. I place my energy on their heads feeding them my energy. When I finish they both jump on the couch with me. I roll my eyes and expand the couch a little. I turn on the television and flick through the channels, stopping when the dogs grunt at some corny looking movie with two dogs and a cat talking. I got up and walked into the kitchen to make a sandwich. I'm looking for the mustard when I hear a thump upstairs. I poke my head out of the kitchen and see both dogs alert. I nod my head and they both make their way swiftly upstairs. I follow silently listening close to anything out of place. I hear a crash and growl coming from the direction of the spare room. I walk to the spare where Cupcake is growling at the door, while I sense Hercules in front of Rachel and Quinn doors, which thankfully are right next to each other's. When I open the door Cupcake runs towards the back wall and begins growling. I close the door behind me and call cc towards me. She stands next to me, continuing to growl. I create flames in my hand, "you have until the count of three before I burn down this room with you still in it." I keep looking at the wall until something begins to form on it. What appear shakes me up, and I take a step back. Lying across my wall is a creature with the body of a snake, but the snout and teeth of a great wolf. Its eyes were bright red, and its body began to coil ready to strike if it had to. I looked further along its body finding a blade at the end where its tail is supposed to be. I froze in fear. It was as big as one of those anaconda movies my nephew use to make me watch. I start to back away, cc still stepping forward growling. "Cup get your ass back here that's a big ass snake." Its eyes follow us, waiting to see what we're going to do. I call Cupcake again and she whines before moving towards the door with me. Once Cupcake is out, I start to slide out too. The snake relaxes and then starts to disappear again. I shut the door quietly, locking it behind me. I let out a breath leaning on the door behind me. Confusion settles in my mind, what the hell was that, and why didn't it attack us. It didn't seem hostile just defensive. I ordered the wolves to sleep with their partners that night, while I slept in front of our new guess room so I could sense if he decide to travel more.

Morning comes and when Rachel and Quinn come out their room they see me leaned against the door eyes closed as if I was meditating. They look at each other than me. Cupcake and Hercules come and sit by their feet. Quinn speaks first, "what's wrong?" "Something's living in our spare bedroom." "What are you talking about did a friend come to visit," as Rachel says this she goes to reach for the door knob before I grab her arm pulling her away. "I wouldn't do that." "Why?" "It's not my friend; it's some type of demonic creature with the body of a snake, head of a wolf, and a blade for a tail." Quinn and Rachel jump away while I stand up from the floor. "Relax." "What do you mean relax? Why didn't you kill it, or wake us up to help you kill it?" "It didn't attack. It just looked at me with its red eyes." "So what are you going to do? "Quinn has been looking at me and Rachel go back and forth with an amused smirk on her face. I smile, "we are going to leave it there. It's not starting any trouble, so just let it be. Looks like it just needs somewhere to hide. Now with that taken care of I'm going to take a shower. I been up all night, so I will not be driving today." Both girls shake their heads and walk away to get ready while I get in the shower.

Quinn's POV

An hour later we're already on the road to Baltimore, Rachel is driving and I know she's just itching to talk about the damn snake living in our spare room. "So were not going to talk about the snake living in the house?" I laughs knowing Rachel wouldn't be able to keep quiet for too much longer. "Nope, it's staying there." "Why?" "When I was looking at it, it looked like it had survived a freaking war where it was all against him. Scars on his snake body which should heal if he sheds, and a scar down his right eye. He doesn't seem to want to fight right now so id figure we just let it be." Rachel huffs and then continues to drive.

I look in the rearview mirror as Santana lies along the second row and Cupcake and Hercules in the back. She winks at me and then closes her eyes. I smile and then look at the rode. I start thinking about home, my mom, and everything I left behind. I'm lost in thought when I hear Santana speak up again, "by the way his name shall be Zeus, and when we get back we have to work out a feeding schedule." The car swerves before Rachel gains control again. I look at Rachel wide eye while she glares at Santana through the mirror, "what do you mean feeding schedule? We are not keeping that thing. ." I laugh as they bicker back and forth, I smile closing my eyes. Welcome to the family Zeus. A snake, I knew San wanted a pet too.
