Alright, I'm pretty happy with the time this one took. This chapter is celebrating the last day of Winter Break before I got back for my second semester of college.

Thank you all for the awesome reviews you guys really helped me!

Also if you're interested, I just submitted the first chapter of a new story (Second chapter will be later this week) called Hunters and Exorcists its a ConstantineXSupernatural cross-over that's Cas and Dean-centric.

[S10 for SPN and 1x07 (Blessed are the Damned) for Constantine. Cas and Dean suddenly find themselves transported into Constantine's world and work to understand the exorcist, the strange angels and solve the other-worldly case. But it seems like they're going to encounter some trouble first. Gen. Lightly recommend watching at least one episode of Constantine]

1x11 Scarecrow (Sam and Dean argue and part ways; Dean to a hunt in Indiana, and Sam seeking John in California.)

Sam took a moment to think about the series of events that had brought him to were he was, duffel in his hand on the side of the road. Somehow, he doubted he'd be as likely to be picked up as Meg was. He did feel a pang of worry over where she was but decided she was probably okay. She seemed like she could take care of herself. No, he was more worried about Dean. He had left his brother during a case and he had no idea if it would be difficult or not.

His worries were temporarily pushed down when he saw the bus station he had been walking toward for a good couple hours. In all likelihood, Meg was inside.

Sam looked down at the black screen of his phone again. He'd left several voice messages for Dean and he still hadn't gotten an answer.

"I've been trying to call my brother for the last three hours. I'm just getting his voicemail." Sam explained to Meg who sat next to him.

"Well, maybe his phone's turned off." Meg suggested.

It was never that easy. It was never that simple. "No, that's not like him. Meg, I think he might be in trouble."

"What kind of trouble?" She seemed a little concerned for him.

"I can't really explain now, but I think that if Cas isn't with him right now…" Sam trailed off. The angel had saved them several times. He hoped this was one of those times. "I'm sorry, look, I don't want you to miss your bus."

"Who's Cas?" Meg asked, then shook her head. "You're running back to your brother? The guy you ran away from? Why because he won't pick up his phone? Sam—come with me to California."

"I can't. I'm sorry."

"Why not?" Meg asked, eyebrows furrowed.

"He's my family." Sam finally said, leaving the station and Meg, who looked close to tears.

Dean and Emily sat in their cellar prison.

"I don't understand. They're gonna kill us?" Emily whimpered.

"Sacrifice us. Which is, I don't know, classier, I guess?" Dean walked over to the girl. "You really didn't know anything about this, did you?" Either the adults in town were good at hiding things or she wasn't every very attentive.

"About what? The scarecrow god? I can't believe this."

"Well, you better start believing, cause I'm gonna need your help."

"Okay."

"Speaking of believing…there's something I gotta try." Dean sighed. He clasped his hands and closed his eyes. After a few moments he looked at Emily. "Sorry, could you not watch please? Sorry."

"Huh? Oh yeah, sure." Emily retreated towards the back of the cellar, turned around and did her best not listen to whatever Dean was saying.

Dean retook his position. "I never thought I'd be doing this but…God, could you send in some help? I've never asked anything from you." Partially because Dean hadn't really believed in him. "But this is important. If I don't come out of this, its only a matter of time until Sam comes looking around. I can't have anything happen to him. Alright…that's all." Dean lifted his head and saw the last thing he wanted to see.

"Well that's very nice now son. But I'm afraid you're praying to the wrong god here."

The sacrificial couple was escorted into the orchard and bound to a tree. Emily begged her adoptive family for mercy but they gave her none.

"But we're family." He begged.

Her mother's truly sick words stayed in her heart as the four older people walked away. "Sweetheart, that's what sacrifice means." Once they were out of sight, the two began struggling again.

"You called?" A throaty voice sounded from beside Dean, making him whip his head to face the angel.

"Cas? You're here?" Dean said with relief while Emily looked confused and happy to see another person.

"You prayed, Dean. I answered." Castiel told them simply, touching the ropes holding them. They burst into flames and fell onto the ground.

"Wow Cas. Gotta show me that trick." Dean said, rubbing his wrists.

Castiel's eyes narrowed in confusion. "It's highly unlikely that you are pyrokinetic, Dean." Dean opened his mouth to reply but decided not to.

"Let's get the hell outta here." He said instead.

"I'm afraid it is too late for that." Castiel said, squinting as if he could see something deep in the orchard. "The creature is awake and on its way."

"You can see it? How far is it?" Dean asked, straining his eyes to see in the dark.

"Roughly a half mile away. But a little ways behind him is a strange tree exuding energy."

"That's the First Tree! Cas, we need to mow that sucker down."

"I didn't bring anything for that, but I have this." Everyone turned around to face Sam, carrying a five gallon tank of gasoline.

"Great timing, Sam."

"Come here." Castiel told them beckoning them closer to him, which they did hesitantly. Cas touched Sam and Dean's foreheads with two fingers and Dean instinctively reached out to grab Emily's shoulder.

They were met with a cold rush of air, a heavy flap of wings and a pretty disorienting feeling in their stomachs. The three humans looked around.

"W-We moved." Emily managed.

"Well, I can knock that off my Bucket List." Dean groaned. Sam helped him steady himself and doused the trunk with gasoline.

An angry roar of the scarecrow sounded. "I will distract the creature." Castiel told them, flitting away.

"Burn it up," Dean said, throwing a lit match up and letting it catch on fire in an inferno blast.

The next morning, Emily was boarding a bus to Boston. She smiled at the boys, who waved at her. She found a seat and, to her pleasant surprise, they stood watching the bus until she couldn't see them anyone.

"Think she's gonna be alright?"

"I hope so," Dean responded.

"And the rest of the townspeople, they'll just get away with it?"

"Well, what'll happen to the town will have to be punishment enough," Dean told him, not entirely satisfied either. They walked over to the car. "So can I drop you off somewhere?" Dean asked carefully.

"No, I think you're stuck with me." Sam said, stopping at the car.

"What made you change your mind?"

Sam hesitated for a moment. "I didn't. I still wanna find Dad. And you're still a pain in the ass. But, Jess and Mom—they're both gone. And Dad—well, not even the angels know where he is. You, me and Bobby. We're all that's left. So, if we're gonna see this through, we're gonna do it together."

Dean's face went from serious to grinning. "Hold me, Sam. That was beautiful." Dean tried to but his hand on Sam's shoulder but he knocked it away with a laugh.

Sam walked over to the passenger seat. "You should be kissing my ass, you guys couldn't have done it without me."

"Hey, boy. Got any new information for me?" Bobby asked as he picked up the phone.

"About Cas? Yeah. It's strange but…I think he knew I needed him. On this last case, well things went in a bad direction and he really saved us. He had like…fire powers too. Just burned off the ropes holding us. I don't know. He's not a monster."

From the other line, Dean heard Bobby close his book. "Do you trust him?"

"I wasn't sure for a long time, but today..." Dean hesitated for several seconds. "Yeah, I trust the guy."

"Well then, I think it's time we put this book away for now." Bobby said finally. Dean heard him get up and put it in a particularly squeaky cabinet.

"Thanks." Dean told him, hanging up the phone, slightly uncomfortable in the trust he had just invested in the angel.
