The Other Dark One
Disclaimer: I do not own Once Upon A Time, only the idea. If I did, you wouldn't see it on . Due to Frozen, I have broken out of writer's block! If anyone hasn't seen it, go now! This chapter will feature Elsa, with very mild spoilers for the movie. To clarify- Elsa hasn't reconciled with Anna yet, due to the curse happening right before Kristoff and Anna go to the trolls. Enjoy!
Chapter Seven: You Were Saying?
Present day… Enchanted Forest
Emma stepped back quickly, her jaw dropping. It was impossible, yet there it was. The silver hook.
Growing up, one of her favorite stories was Peter Pan. She'd loved it, except for the arrogance of Peter and almost everyone else ("Oh, the cleverness of me!"). And of course, Captain Hook had been a rather memorable character. Not to mention the perms. Ugh.
This Hook, she had to admit, was much easier on the eyes. She admired his face again, and concluded that yep, it had been too long since she'd dated. Her eyes involuntarily slid down to the hook again. Of course, this could be some Cosplay dude- but what she'd seen so far made her reconsider. What if Henry wasn't just going through some phase? And what if Lilith was right?
Lilith. Right. Emma remembered the woman's last words with a wave of guilt. She probably shouldn't have told the woman to get to the hospital, but then again, it was a crazy notion. Was.
There was no way she was hallucinating now, Emma thought as she twisted the hook off the brace. The cold metal was… well, cold against her skin. The blonde pinched herself hard, and yup, she was still there. Still in whatever this place was.
Also, nothing was controlling her, like in that strange world. The one she'd thought was a hallucination. A sudden surety ran through her as she surveyed her surroundings, and, thinking back to Peter Pan, she whispered: "I believe."
Present day… Storybrooke
As soon as Emma whispered the words, a wave of magic spread through Storybrooke. Regina gasped when the magic went through her and looked out her window, at the citizens of Storybrooke.
Very, very angry citizens.
Lilith was surprised, of course. She thought Emma might have some more work ahead of her. Apparently not. "Rumple!" She called. The imp glanced at her. "I don't think we need to send that message to the Huntsman anymore."
Jefferson grinned. "Pardon me, but I do believe I'd best be getting Grace back." Lilith patted him on the back as he left, and smiled at him.
"The best of luck to you." She said to him, and he nodded gratefully before running to find his daughter. "Well, Rumple, I must be off. There's an old friend I'd like to see. I'm sure you have one, too."
"And what does that mean, dearie? I don't really care about anyone in this town." Rumple snapped, affronted.
"I'm wounded, Rumple, but really. Your True Love? Belle?" Lilith glared at him. "I thought you'd care a bit more, even after you threw her away."
"Don't be ridiculous. I didn't throw her away, she's not trash. She's dead." Rumple said to the other woman.
"Rumple?" A soft, accented voice asked. His eyes went wide.
"You were saying?" Lilith smirked. She breezed past him to welcome Belle. "Hello, darling. I hope you have a happy reunion with him." Her contempt was obvious. She patted the startled woman on the back and left.
Lilith passed by many couples that decided that the streets were good places to reunite, mainly Snow White and Prince Charming. Her lip curled as they kissed passionately, in plain view of everyone. "Ew, PDA people!" She called, and both of them blushed and glared at her. She only smirked. At least they stopped.
Soon, the sorceress reached her destination, and grinned at the irony. So Regina did have a sense of humor! After twenty-eight years of living together, that feature had been utterly non-existent.
Walking into the ice-cream parlor, Lilith hushed the bell over the doorway before it could jingle. Moving soundlessly through the shop, she searched the person she had come here for. Finally spotting the figure crouching under the cashier register, she grinned. Muted grunts were heard as the owner attempted to fix whatever had gone wrong. Just as the person stood up, Lilith tapped her on the shoulder. "Hi Elsa."
Three things happened.
First, the Snow Queen gaped at her.
Second, Elsa punched her in the face.
Third, she tackled Lilith and hugged the life out of her.
"Ow. Really, Elsa? I know I deserved it, but did it have to bloody hurt so much?" Lilith hesitantly hugged the girl (woman, she reminded herself) back.
Elsa pulled back and smirked smugly. "You did deserve it, for leaving me after I turned eighteen! I haven't seen you in years, Lilith, not since Mother and Father…" She stopped. Even after three years, the pain of losing her parents was still fresh. "You know. Why'd you leave? Spill!"
The Snow Queen dragged her over to a table. Forcing Lilith into a chair, she suddenly smacked her head. "Where are my manners! Would you like anything to eat?"
"No, thanks, Elsa, but I really think-"
"I will trap you in ice if I need to, Lilith, so accept. The. Offer."
Lilith studied the determined queen for a beat. "Fine. Dark chocolate, please. I'll even pay."
"Oh no no no! You can't do that, Lilith. You are not paying for this! You already did with the punch I gave you." The smug grin fell as she saw Lilith's nose, completely healed. "Never mind, pay up."
Lilith pulled out a couple of dollars and set it on the countertop, watching Elsa scoop out the ice cream. "Regina certainly has a sense of humor."
Elsa grinned wryly. "I know, right? The Snow Queen, serving everyone else ice cream, the ultimate frozen dessert. Absolutely hilarious." She handed Lilith the scoop, and prepared herself a dark-chocolate-mint scoop. They sat down. "Really, Lilith, what happened? It was like you were there one minute, then you were gone the next! I almost froze the whole castle worrying over where you were!"
Lilith winced. "I thought I taught you how to control it! It seemed like my job was finished, so I was whisked off to another part of the Enchanted Forest. You know, like a really, really messed-up Nanny McPhee."
Elsa laughed, but soon sobered up. "Do you know what happened on my coronation day?"
Lilith nodded, her good humor dissipating as well. "I watched you occasionally from my crystal ball."
"Now isn't that all kinds of creepy."
Lilith studied her again. "You've gotten sassier, Elsa."
"Yeah, well, I guess it comes with the ice. There's some sort of rush every time I use it, but it isn't addicting or anything." She added quickly, noticing the dark look on Lilith's face. "It just puts me in a very sassy mood all the time."
"Do your powers still work here?"
"Kind of. I mean, since the electricity is down right now, I'm using it to keep the ice cream cold. I can't create much except small stuff, probably because there isn't any magic here."
Suddenly, a window broke. A man who Lilith recognized as Sir Maurice had poked his pitchfork into it, and had started chanting along with others about killing Regina. Elsa froze, and her fear overtook her. A whirlwind of ice flew out of her hands and she winced and the now-frozen half of her store.
Lilith smirked. "You were saying?"
Someday, Elsa would strangle her.
