Once again R&R and thank you for reading.

Harry had been at Hogwarts for over a month and already James and Lily felt lonely. "I was thinking," James began, "now that we are alive again I might go to the Ministry and see if I can get my Aurors License back." "That sounds like a good idea, you loved being an Auror." Replied Lily, "and maybe I could go back to St Mungo's and find out if I could finish my Healer training, after all by 1981 I was nearly finished but I will need to catch up because it's been a while." The young couple had agreed to do it and James sent off an owl to the Ministry to meet with the head of the Auror's, Alastor Moody.

It was around noon when Lily Potter set off for St Mungo's, she had used the floo (much to her displeasure) to get to the Leaky Cauldron and walked out into muggle London, the sun high in the streets. She marched straight towards a supposedly abandoned shop with a broken figurine by the window. She whispered something towards the figurine that gave a quick nod. She looked over her shoulder to ensure that no muggles were watching and she stepped through the glass.

As Lily Potter stepped into the room the atmosphere suddenly began to feel slightly more hectic. Healers were rushing about and injured patients were making their way throughout the room. She pulled her features into a sympathetic smile and slowly made her way towards the front desk. "Hello, would I be able to speak to the Head Healer please?" she enquired; the brown-haired witch behind the desk nodded and said, "One moment please." and walked towards the doors that led to the Creature Induced Injuries ward.

She returned several minutes later with a middle-aged man who smiled and said, "I am Healer Davies, how can I be of assistance Miss..?" "Lily Potter." "Ah yes, welcome back. Now what can I do for you Mrs Potter?" Lily blushed, as she had momentarily forgotten why she was there, "I was wondering if it would be possible for me to resume my Healer training as before the events of 1981 I was nearly completed."

Davies began to make his way towards the desk while saying," Of course I just need to check your old records." He reached the desk and began to rifle through a filed cabinet before saying, "That shouldn't be a problem Mrs Potter I just need you to sign some papers to make sure all your details are in order." Lily nodded and filled out the papers then shook his hand with a word of thanks then stepped out of the door into the blinding sunlight once more.

Meanwhile in the ministry of magic James Potter was making his way through the Atrium towards the Auror department that he remembered so well. He didn't have to look for Moody as he heard the thunk of his wooden leg that he had gained in the battles in the Order of The Phoenix. He turned to see the spinning blue eye of one Alastor Moody and said, "Hello Moody." with a slight grin apparent on his face. "Potter. What brings you to the Ministry?" he grumbled as he made his way towards his office.

"Well since Harry went back to Hogwarts, Lily and I have found the house a bit empty so I decided I should come and get my old job back. So what do ya say Moody?" The Auror sat down and looked up at this man before him, "Well I suppose you can Potter. You start in 2 days, Monday." James replied with a wide smile on his face and exited out of the Auror department and out into the streets where he then apparated back to their home where he found a letter waiting on the table, a snowy owl waiting for a treat. James obliged to this silent request as the owl gave a soft hoot and flew out the window. James shook his head and grabbed a mug from nearby and muttered a spell as hot coffee filled the mug and he sat down to read Harry's latest letter.

James smiled as he read Harry's latest update, he was very excited for the next Quidditch match against Hufflepuff, which James and Lily would be going to watch of course. As Halloween was approaching James was excited to write back whilst his red-headed wife was not back, with a few prank ideas so Harry would be able to keep the Marauder legacy alive that he and the others worked so hard to build over seven years.

Then a loud crack occurred from outside the house and with the instincts that he had picked up from the first war he grabbed his wand and rushed out the door. He called out "Whose there?" but then mentally cursed himself for asking such a stupid question, 'Yes James a Death Eater is just going to pop around the corner and say I'm here. 'He peered around the corner and began to back away slowly then he bumped into one Albus Dumbledore. "Oh sorry Albus. Come on in." James said in a rush fumbling over his words slightly as he walked back into his house with the elderly wizard close behind.

They sat down in the Potter's apartment and James asked, "What brings you here?" Dumbledore smiled," Well, I'm sure there is the small matter of one of your best friends still being in Azkaban prison. "James mentally slapped himself, how could he forget about Sirius? Dumbledore continued, "However we will await Lily's return before venturing outwards." Fortunately the two wizards did not have to wait too long as Lily walked through the front door carrying a few shopping bags. "Lily we need to go to Azkaban. We need to free Sirius." James said before Lily could question why their former Professor was standing in their living room.

Then the three occupants of the room walked out of the house and Albus took out an old pocket watch that they assumed to be a Portkey and moments later they felt the usual pull at their naval and they were transported to a small fishing village where they would then sail to Azkaban. They appeared to what seemed to be the start of a heavy rainfall where the three wizards conjured a coat as well as casting 'Impervius' on themselves. When they were all prepared they all stepped into the small boat and Lily tapped her wand to the side of the boat and they sped off towards the rocky building known as Azkaban prison.

It took them a few minutes and they reached their destination the chilly atmosphere set by the Dementors had already taken affect even though they were up near the high security prisoners ,this unfortunately is where they had to go. They made their way to that particular section and the Dementors were depleted greatly in numbers only 2 remained which puzzled them, but after a quick check from the Auror's they were permitted to enter. They made their way along the corridors and in the opinion of one Lily Potter it was one of the most horrible experiences in her life.

Prisoners were screaming, begging to be released and in a few of the cells it looked like a few of the prisoners had already received the Dementors Kiss. It seemed like hours but they reached the cell of Sirius Black but in his place sat a shaggy Grim-like dog. James shook his head in pity and said, "Padfoot? Will you change back?" The dog lifted its head slowly and turned its head to find Lily and James Potter outside the cell. It then transformed into a man but he was near unrecognisable to Lily and James.

His hair had grown past his shoulders and was in a state that hadn't been seen since James' and Lily's wedding when Sirius had a horrible hangover and refused to leave his room for days after the wedding. His eyes were sunken and he had lost a lot of weight and it didn't look as if he had seen sunlight in years. Dumbledore sighed and beckoned an Auror over and told him to bring Sirius Black down to the interrogation room.

They entered the room and Dumbledore spoke to Sirius,"Will you consent to us asking you questions under Veritaserum?" Sirius only nodded while the elder wizard lifted out a phial of clear liquid out of his robes and handed it to Sirius who drank it.

"We'll start off with a tester question. What is your full name?"
"Sirius Orion Black."
"Your parents' names are?"
"Wallburga and Orion Black."

"Ok Sirius. Were you Secret Keeper to the Potters?"
"No"
This reply shocked the elder wizard who looked to the red head and her husband who kept their eyes fixed on Sirius.
"Then who was?"
"Peter Pettigrew. We switched Secret Keepers as I thought I was too obvious a choice."
"This doesn't make any sense Peter is dead. You killed him. He couldn't…" This question came from James.
"He gave you up to Voldemort and when I realised you were dead on Halloween I cornered Pettigrew in the middle of the street where he blew up the street and transformed into the sewers after cutting off his finger."

Albus Dumbledore excused himself from the room and sent out a letter to the Minister of Magic along with his memory of the last 10 minutes. He returned to the room where an air of awkwardness hung for the next 20 minutes until Cornelius Fudge entered the room and as he could find no evidence against him. He had no choice but to say," Sirius Black. I hereby grant you freedom from Azkaban we give you 500,000 Galleons as compensation for the last 11 years."

As these words left the Minister's mouth he disapparated and Dumbledore lifted out a book which he held out to the 3 friends who placed a finger on it almost immediately and they were transported to the Headmaster's office. When they arrived, the elderly headmaster called a house-elf and asked for Madam Pomfrey to come immediately. Less than 5 minutes later the school nurse appeared and whisked the Potters and Sirius up to the hospital wing immediately.

A few days later Sirius Black was still up in the hospital wing where his 3 friends (Lily, James and Remus) came to visit him. Pomfrey had attempted to shovel as much chocolate into the ex-prisoner as she could to bring colour back to his face as well as reverse the effects of the Dementors, not that he was complaining. Today was different, as they were about to leave the hospital wing. The doors opened and in came Harry with the help of his two best friends Ron and Hermione.

"HARRY! Are you okay?" came the shouts of his mother as she noticed the cuts and bruises on his face. "I'm okay Mum." He mumbled his face turning slightly red at his mums 'Mother Hen' mode. "What happened?" she said with a slight glare when her son didn't reply. "He got into another stupid fight with Malfoy." Hermione responded. Madam Pomfrey came out hearing all the commotion and ordered the youngest Potter into a bed.

It was after Halloween and everything was pretty much back to normal for James and Lily. Sirius had settled in nicely with Remus and Harry has had the chance to get to know his godfather. However at Hogwarts, things were not going well, a student had been found Petrified in the hallway, as well as Filch's cat. It also didn't help much that Harry had been found at both these. So unfortunately, Harry was looking like the number one suspect as no one could explain what was happening.

Once again the Potters had just received a letter from Harry and something in this letter made Lily think. He had mentioned Professor McGonagall's animagus form. "James? Would it not be best for you to get registered?" Lily asked. "Registered?" came the confused reply. Lily shook her head; James was never good the day after Sirius and he went out. "You and Sirius. Your animagus forms." "We probably should. I'm gonna Floo over to their place and see if he wants to go over now. Remus will be happy with the idea; he wanted us to get registered since we managed the transformation."

James threw the Floo Powder into the fireplace and called out Remus' and Sirius' address and stepped through the emerald green flames. It was about time Sirius was out of bed and Remus was out of the house as he had left a note lying on the table, so he took a deep breath and yelled, "SIRIUS BLACK! GET YOUR LAZY BACKSIDE DOWN HERE!" and then calmly sat down on the couch and 10 minutes later Sirius emerged and grumbled, "What do you want this time Prongs?" "Well since you asked Mr Padfoot. It concerns our furry counterparts." "What about them?"

"We should go get registered at the Ministry. If we don't and we get caught we can get put into Azkaban and I don't think you want to go back there again." Sirius sighed," I suppose you are right James. I'll go get ready and we will go then." James smiled and sat down once again as his best friend went back up the stairs."
