I swear, after you guys read the next two chapters, you will hate me for ever writing this story.
"I-It's your hair," Anna says. "It's turning brown." Jack's hand flies up to his hair in a panic.
"Brown?" He starts to ruffle his hair around, trying to catch a glimpse of it. Once he does, he laughs. "Very funny guys," he says, his laugh dying down to a chuckle. "it's not brown."
Sandy nods, eyes open wide filled with what seems to be fear, but more than anything, shock.
"But it is," Elsa says, walking up to him to touch his hair. "small strands are brown." As her hand touched his hair, it would turn few pieces that were still normal, brown. She quickly pulls her hand away, noticing this.
"The trolls." Anna says, "They'll know what's going on."
"Trolls?" Jack asks, stretching out the word, as if to reassure that he heard her correctly. Anna nods.
"Kristoff's family." She says, pointing back to Kristoff who is standing behind her.
"Your family... they're trolls?" Jack asks, as if the fact that Kristoff knows-much less has family who are trolls-is a lie, or a myth. The fact that they believe that these 'trolls' exist is strange for Jack.
"Well... adoptive family, yes." Kristoff answers.
"Well... alright then." Jack says, still not being able to cope with what he is being told.
"Come on, let's go." Anna says, starting to walk in the direction that she belives is the way to the troll field. (Even though it's the wrong way, but that's not something Kristoff would tell her, Anna being the proud person she is.)
"Hold on," Kristoff says, pulling onto Anna's wrist, keeping her from going and pulling her to his side. "don't you think that Arendelle might need some help after everything that just happened?"
"Oh, yeah..." Anna says, drifting off. "All right. Kristoff and I will stay here. Elsa, you and Jack can go visit Kristoff's family." Elsa nods.
"Alright." She says, "we can meet up at the castle later." Anna and Kristoff both start walking back to the castle as Elsa and Jack walk off with Sandy.
"Brown?"
"Yes Jack, brown."
"Hello?" Elsa calls out, once she, Jack, and Sandy have made it to the field where the trolls live. "Grandpabbie?"
That's when the rocks started to move.
"Woah!" Jack exclaims, jumping up on his staff to avoid being tripped by the moving rocks. "What?"
"Elsa's here!" They yell. Some would jump up, trying to get her attention, while other's would bow down to her. Sandy seemed to enjoy the excitement of the rocks. He seems as if he is laughing with joy from all the excitement being carried around.
"And she brought boys!" Another rock yells. All the rocks' attention turns to Jack and Sandy.
Rocks start to move as a slightly bigger rock rolls down. Grandpabbie pops up from his previous form-the boulder.
"Elsa," He says, bowing down. "What can I do-" He stops himself when he finds Sandy and Jack. "Sandman... Jack Frost..."
"Hold up," Jack says, jumping down from his staff and holding a hand up to stop Grandpabbie from going on further. "You know us?
"Why yes, of course." Grandpabbie tells him.
"How does he know us?" Jack whispers to Elsa and Sandy, pulling them towards him by their arms.
"He knows a lot of things," Elsa tells him, still whispering even though she knows that grandpabbie can hear them.
"What can I do for you?" Grandpabbie asks.
"It's Jack's hair." Elsa tells him, pulling Jack by the arm over to Grandpabbie, pulling him down so his head is visible to Grandpabbie. Grandpabbie looks at his hair, ruffling it around a bit.
"Elsa, quite some time ago I told your sister that love will thaw, remember?" Elsa nods.
"Yes, that's when I froze her heart." She doesn't like to say it, it brings pain to her just thinking about it. It's quite a burden to carry around, knowing that you almost killed the one you love most. Not to mention what she did when Pitch took her over.
"Well, love will thaw. It can thaw almost everything, this including Jack Frost." Elsa's eyebrows raise hearing this.
"What do you mean?" She asks.
"Jack Frost is the spirit of winter, correct." Jack nods.
"Yeah," He says.
"Well, if you, Jack, love someone, to an exceptionally large extent, it will thaw you." Grandpabbie says.
"What do you mean 'thaw me'?" Jack asks, leaning on his staff.
"I mean, that you will no longer be the spirit of winter."
"So, I won't be Jack Frost anymore."
"Exactly." Grandpabbie says. "I'm sorry Jack, but you are turning back into Jackson Overlander."
Now, that hit him.
That hit him hard.
If Jack were to no longer be a spirit of winter, he would lose his immortality, he would lose his ability ride the winds, he would lose the ability of being able to bring winter, he would lose a lot of things. One thing he would gain, is not having to be believed in to be seen. Now, many, many, years ago, Jack would trade all that in a heartbeat. Just now that he's gotten used to the whole 'spirit of winter' deal, and learned to like it, he has to give it up.
Jack stumbled backwards, and if it weren't for the help of Sandy and Elsa, he would have fallen.
"He won't have the same powers as mine?" Elsa asks. Grandpabbie shakes his head.
"I'm afraid not."
"Well isn't there anything we can do?"
"There is one thing," Grandpabbie admits, "but I'm afraid you won't like it."
"Please, I'll do anything." Elsa tells him. Now, it is extremely rare for Elsa to come down to this resort, but she really would do anything for Jack if it meant he would be able to stay living the life he was before he had met Elsa.
"Jack," He says, turning to Jack who had barely regained his balance. "you can't love Elsa."
"What?"
"And Elsa can't love him back."
