There is a certain magic to being lost in a city you don't know.

The smells, the sights, the possibilities...For me, it's a feeling like no other, like anything could happen, from the next great thing to...well, judging from the neighborhood we were at right now, getting mugged.

You would think that being with Alice and Emmet, who I had assumed were born New Yorkers, the risk of getting lost was minimal.

Well, you know what they say about assuming...

After getting out of the Hospital we had decided to forgo Emmet's monstrous truck and, in order for me to have the full "New York experience", ride the subway. It was actually quite different from what I was expecting. I had imagined there would be trash everywhere and the smell would be unbearable but it was actually quite clean. The only thing marring its features were the graffiti on the walls, and even some of them were quite artistic.

And there we were, the giant, the pixie in heels and the tourist, entering the New York subway. I realized things would get complicated when Alice spoke up.

"Oh my God, my first time on the subway, this is so exciting!" She practically bounced towards the ticket vending machines.

"You have never ridden the subway? I thought you grew up in New York Allie!" At that Emmet started laughing in his "beating-the-shit-out-of-a-drum" way.

"Of course she grew up here but uncle Carlisle never would've let her ride the subway. She and Edward had their own cars since they were 16 and before that either Carlisle or one of the drivers would drive them." We paid for our tickets and passed the gates towards the platforms.

"You make me sound like a spoiled brat. Dad was a little overprotective, that's it." She turned right and went down the escalators. We arrived just as one of trains arrived.

"Well come on let's get in, fortunately it's not rush hour so we won't be crushed in there" Emmet took my arm and led me towards the wagon. I could feel the heat from his hand through my sweater.

"So, what do you think of New York's subway?" Emmet asked after a couple of stations had gone by.

"It's pretty cool. I think I had severely underestimated it." I admitted while I read one of the maps that were there for orientation purposes.

"Umm, Alice, do you know in which stop we have to get off?" She was furiously typing in her cellphone.

"I was trying to get that info, but I have no coverage down here" Well that should've been obvious, right? Apparently Emmet thought so too.

"Allie, come on! I thought you knew where we were going! We could've looked for the directions before we got in here. Do you even know if this is the right train?" Alice's blank face was practically a response by itself.

"Are there more trains?" Yep, we were officially screwed.

We got out of the train in a very crowded station, as we were trying to find a map of the subway lines to at least take the right train we were practically dragged by everyone walking towards the exit. Even though we didn't get separated we ended up leaving the station and walking out into a lonely neighborhood. Fortunately it was early afternoon, had it been dark I would've probably freaked out a little.

"Let's just get a cab or something" Alice said as she started walking towards the main avenue.

"Oh come on, we can walk a bit, judging from where we are I don't think we're that far away" Emmet sounded as if he wasn't as lost as I felt. We followed his advice and started walking, following the directions from Google Maps.

It turned out we were really far away from MoMA but the walk was nice enough. Having been cooped up at the Hospital for the better part of a month this breath of fresh air was actually welcomed. Besides, growing up in Seattle with a single father that loved nature, I was really used to fresh air and open outdoors, something your really don't get in New York unless you went to Central Park or left the city completely.

"Bella! Bella! Have you had these? Please tell me you haven't! Come on they're the best!" As I looked towards what Emmet was pointing at I realized I was actually quite hungry.

"No. I haven't tried them before, seen them in all the movies of course." There was a hot dog cart right there, waiting for me to delight in its supposed awesomeness.

"Como on then! It's hot dog time, you're going to love them. Look Alice!" He turned looking for Alice and found her already biting into her hot dog. "Ha! She really loves them though" He told me in a mock whisper.

"It's my guilty pleasure, so what!" She yelled though a mouthful.

"Disgusting Allie. Come on Bella, put the mustard on, oh yes. Now bite it" I have to admit, I actually did my best to bite as slowly as I could just to make Emmet suffer a little since he was so excited for me to try it. What I couldn't control was my moan of pleasure at the taste. I could see Emmet's mouth open a little as he stared at me and I could feel myself starting to flush.

"My God! I think is the best I ever had. It beats chili hot dog by far." I tried to feign nonchalance towards my visceral reaction. But seriously, this hot dog was simply amazing.

After we had eaten our fill (two for me and Allie and four for Emmet) we resumed our walk and finally got to MoMa.

"And here we are. Look, "The Modern Monument" that's the one you've been talking me about, right?" Alice asked me as we paid for our entrance tickets.

"Yes, it's supposed to be the newest exhibition regarding modern sculpture." I had started walking in the direction of that exhibition when Emmet interrupted me.

"Maybe we should save it for last then, if you really like it so much is best if you look through the rest and save that one 'til the end, wouldn't want you to find MoMa boring after that one" He actually had a point. Of course, I never would've found everything else boring but maybe it would pale in comparison. I can admit when I'm a little biased.

"You're right, since you know so much about the Museum then lead the way Dr. Cullen."

"Come on Bellartsy, We've been through so much together already, lost in the subway, orgasmic hot dogs." I actually blushed when he said that. "You can call me Emmet outside the hospital, and in it too when there's no one around. I actually wouldn't mind but we wouldn't want Dr. Platt giving you a hard time for being improper" He showed me his adorable dimpled smile again. I had been referring to him as Emmet in my head for a while anyways so I rapidly agreed.

"Fine Emmet, lead the way then."

It was quite something else having Emmet as an art guide, he actually knew quite a lot about the paintings and I could easily see his passion behind his descriptions.

"You really have been here a lot haven't you?" I asked him as we passed Albers' exhibition which he claimed were the "deepest squares."

"Well, yeah" He scratched the back of his neck and smiled at me. "My mom was a stay at home mom but she painted as a hobby, she used to bring me here when I was little, and she taught me to appreciate art and to remember to always find a reason behind everything. Although sometimes" He looked back at Alber's squares "It might be a little hard to do so."

I smiled at him and was about to retort when Alice fake-coughed to get our attention.

"Well come on art-lovers, your exhibitions is next Bella."

I was actually quite excited. I had read a lot about this part of the museum since it opened and knew that they had a couple of sculptures added recently. One of those immediately caught my attention.

"Well hello ma'am, I hope you're enjoying your visit to the museum." A guy dressed all in black with a museum identification approached me as I stared at the sculpture at hand.

"Yes, thank you very much." I wasn't trying to be curt, I just wanted to be able to appreciate the sculpture in peace.

"This one's name is The River by Aristide Maillol." He pointed towards the sculpture I had been watching. It was of a woman falling from a bench into a river, or was she being pushed? Or had she thrown herself? On purpose? Was she playing or was she desperate, her eyes were closed but her hands...was she imploring perhaps?

"...and it was completed in 1943." I realized I had completely tuned out the guy.

"Oh, sorry, I was in my own world, I'll just keep looking around, thank you for the information though." I cut him off quite abruptly and continued on in the sculpture garden, it was actually quite nice out here, there were other sculptures but only anther one caught my attention.

"Hey" I greeted Emmet who was staring at a sculpture that displayed two men united by bronze.

"I think they hate each other" He told me as I looked closer.

"Probably, judging from the way they're trying not to look at each other" I read the card with the author's and sculpture's name. "Oh well, that confirms it: United Enemies I."

"Aren't we all United Enemies at some point?" I heard Alice voice behind us.

"I don't know, not necessarily. I rather just walk away than be united with someone I don't like" I told her. She raised her eyebrows.

"Sure...but what if it's someone you have to work with? You can't walk away then" I mulled it over for a second or two.

"Maybe not, but then I would try to befriend them then, or at least to get on well enough." I conceded. "There's always a way." I told her as I walked back towards "The River."

Emmet followed me towards it and just stood beside me as I took her in again.

"I think she's falling." I finally said. He turned towards me.

"Maybe she is." We stood there staring at each other, the sculpture forgotten until the guy from before came towards us.

"We're closing in five minutes, just so you know." I broke my eye contact with Emmet. Like seriously, could I get any creepier staring transfixed into his out of this world blue eyes?

"Let's go then! We still have central Park and New York's famous pizza and cheesecake for you to try." Alice clapped and tried to drag us towards the nearest exit. Emmet, still looking a little dumbfounded allowed himself to be dragged. After one last look towards "The River" I followed them.

I think she is indeed falling but I don't think she minds.

Author's note: Hey guys! I had to fight a little block there but here's the new chapter, I tried to make it less corny than my heart wanted. I hope you like it! I've never really been to MoMa, I don't even live in the States so I'm sorry for any inaccuracy, I tried my best to make it as real as possible (Thank you Google!). As always thanks for the reviews, favs and follows I can't explain how excited I get every time I get the alert. So anyways, enjoy!
