I think it's safe to say at this point that this story is moving faster than Sonic the Hedgehog on meth, but I want to be very clear that there's a reason for that. It's not a good reason, but at the very least, it will help you understand why I haven't taken much time to explain why the girls moved into the Ghirahim household, or to ever establish any relationship or valid reasons for their attraction to their host. It's the same reason why there are plenty of contradictions and plot holes in every chapter.
It's because I've been putting no effort into this story. Like I've mentioned in most of my author's notes, I haven't gone back and edited a single chapter before I've posted them, and most, if not every single chapter was written in an afternoon. The first few chapters were even supposed to be a continuous self insert until people started following and favoriting the story and Kayo took on a life of his own, but now that it's been established how popular this story is, it's about time I actually put on my big boy pants and take this popularity seriously. Hence why I will be rewriting this story.
Obviously, "I will put effort into the rewrite" is a nebulous statement at best, so I will go into a bit more detail. First and foremost: each chapter will go into much more detail about the characters, their relationships, and take the time to actually establish valid and believable reasons for their actions and behaviors.
What this is means is that in contrast to this story, "The Life the Girls of Monster Musume Deserve," where the story is little more than a half-assed summary of an actual plot and characterization than a real plot on its own, where I tell/show you guys what's happening but I don't go into detail about how it did or why you should care, the rewrite will not have that issue. There will be multiple chapters spent developing each and every character. More importantly, the relationships between Kayo's final form and the girls that will be staying with them will have a valid reason for existing other than "human male in the vicinity." In short, character growth will be one of the most important factors in the rewrite and will be given the focus it deserves. However, that doesn't mean it will take me the entire story to debut every homestay- just that each homestay will be fleshed out by the end of the story to where they feel like a real person.
On another note, in terms of story structure, I'm going to remove the first person POV and go with third person. This way, the high importance I place on character development will be easier to work with since the reader can see into the mind of each one of the characters, they all have their input, and the limitations that come with a subjective interpretation of the narrator's limited perspective.
As far as Kayo's character himself goes, like I told you guys very early on, I dislike the name "Kayo Ghirahim." I like writing the original version of this story because I don't have to use his name very often. Seriously, it's like I pulled the names out of a hat at random. Like I opened this update with, I put no effort into this story, and Kayo's name is no exception. I can't give you guys too many spoilers about how the story will open up, but the first chapter will delve fully in depth into who he is and what he values in just the first few pages. Not only that, but at the same time, those few pages will also establish a type of backstory about why and how the first girl was allowed to stay with him, and why Kayo was allowed to become a host family in the first place despite not believing he would have passed the background check.
Don't get me wrong here, I love how the anime opened, but I don't believe that certain forms of media can translate into one another. While how the anime opened was fantastic in terms of a video, and while I did put it in literary form pretty decently as well, I firmly believe that I could have started out "The Life the Girls of Monster Musume Deserve" in almost any other way, and the opening would have been 10x better than what I gave you. To put it simply, the opening to the rewrite will not immediately begin with one of the girls already in the household. Again, I won't give you any spoilers, but the girls won't be moving in right away- establishing Kayo's application process will be more important before that can occur.
Ultimately, I'm going to keep the overall vibe of this story. I won't make the inherent mistake I made with this story and just create a novelized version of the anime, but the main idea of Kayo being a pervert will still be a central theme in the rewrite. However, what I'm about to tell you is guaranteed to piss a lot of people off despite that.
I won't be using the same girls of Monster Musume. That means that Miia, Cerea, Rachnera, nor any of the other girls from the anime will be main characters in the rewrite, even if they do appear as side characters every once in awhile. I can already hear your angry screams and am hiding out in my survival bunker for the next few months hoping you don't find me and kill me for that. As far as my reasoning or justification for this goes, I don't believe there is anything I could tell you that would make this decision seem like a good idea to you, so I will just let the rewrite of this story do the talking for me, and wait for you guys to fall in love with the next version of "The Life the Girls of Monster Musume Deserve" just as you did with the original version.
If nothing else, I want you guys to be sure that I will keep the overall vibe of this story and transplant it into the next one. I'm not a total moron. I'm not going to change the central aspects of this story to make an entirely new one and completely spit on this one's memory. If I haven't made it clear yet, I'm rewriting and perfecting it. I'm not cancelling this story and moving onto a totally different project.
I still can't confirm when the rewrite will debut, but I hope it will satisfy you guys to know that I've been working on the first chapter, and that it is almost finished. Almost. Beyond that, the overall plot line has been worked out, each character has been created to the fullest extent of their personhood, and editing will begin soon. To close this up, I want to leave you with a question since I crave your input: What do you think I should title the rewrite as? Personally, I like "Daily Life with a Pervert" but that seems too generic to me. Any thoughts?
Best wishes to my Wholesome Hosts,
