Chapter 9: Training With Lin Kun

The following morning after having eaten to his fill and rested for a while, Rayden was pulled to the training yard by his father. The morning spring Sun was dazzlingly beautiful, and its rays were very comfortable.

"Father!" Rayden looked at his glacier-like father. His heart was filled with awe. His father had battled with very strong people in the past. But from his strength, Rayden wondered why he hadn't heard his father's name before in the previous world's animation show. In terms of strength and skill, his father had already reached an extremely high level. He even suspected that his father had reached the level of a Navy Admiral.

His father had never accepted disciples, but now he had the opportunity to be taught by such a strong person. Even though he had training techniques which could take him further than anyone in this world had ever reached, it was different to actually have someone with such strength actually tutor you.

"From today onwards, I will teach you how to use the sword." Richard looked at his son and said in a cold voice, "Swords are considered short weapons! They are light and agile, with two edges. Their usage is more precise and profound than that of sabers; whether by slashing, by stabbing, by chopping, by scraping, or by tapping, one can easily kill the opponent. Sometimes, a person who is training incorrectly can even hurt himself. It is the truest weapon of war."

Rayden could feel his blood boiling, and he was extremely eager. His eyes were shining. "Father, what sort of sword technique will I learn?"

"Sword technique? Wait a few more years!" Richard said coldly.

"Wait a few more years?" Rayden was confused.

Richard said coldly, "The movements of the sword are birthed by your body! If you wish to use the sword well, then first, you must control your body well. First, you must train in boxing. After your body and your arms are extremely agile and you can fully control your strength, then your body will be ready to learn sword techniques! But preparing your body isn't enough. You must also prepare your 'mind' for learning the sword!"

Rayden, listening to this, felt totally confused, as though his head was covered by mist and clouds. "Father, you say that I must prepare my body before I can train with a sword. I can just barely understand that. But I must also prepare my 'mind'? What does that mean?"

"Don't be impatient."

Richard looked at his son. A took a thick book out of his bag hanging by his side and tossed it towards Rayden. "First, closely read through this boxing manual. There are fourteen stances in this boxing technique. It contains the simplest yet most fundamental of methods to allow one's body to exert strength. Once you have mastered this boxing technique, your entire body will act as you will and you will be able to exert strength with ease."

"The sword is born from your body. If not even your body acts as you wish it to, how can your sword act as you wish it to?" Richard looked at his son, worried that his son would bite off more than he could chew. "First, you must calm your mind."

"Yes, father." Rayden said as he lowered his head to begin reading the book. He began to closely review the mysteries of boxing described in the book. After memorizing the profound secrets, he began to train. His father constantly gave him advice and pointed out his mistakes, or even demonstrated himself so as to help Rayden understand.

Two hours later.

Richard was looking at his son with shock. It seemed that even though he had tried to overestimate his son as far as possible, he still underestimated his son's talent. In just this short while, Rayden had mastered this skill to the second stage; Opposite Stage.

Actually, because Rayden had practiced the boxing skill from the Chaotic Lightning Body Cultivation Skill which is of higher level than this foundation boxing skill to the peak of the Opposite Stage, it wasn't hard for him to completely master this skill. He had already suppressed his progress to not seem too abnormal but his progress speed still shocked his father. Looking at his now sweaty son, Richard nodded his head in satisfaction.

"It seems this sword skill is really built for this boy. With this monster like talent, how far will he reach?" Richard thought as he remembered the skill which had sent both him and his brother to the top.

"Rest a while! In the future, apart from your daily exercises which I will be supervising, you will spend two hours every day training your boxing, unless and until I judge that your body is prepared to train with the sword."

After an hour of rest, Rayden's nightmarish physical training exercise began.

In the training room, Rayden's body was covered in sweat, he was breathing heavily as if he reached the limit of what his body could do. He was doing the simplest most basic squat training. His sweat made the ground wet. He was breathing heavily but still saying a number every time he squat down.

"601 … 602 …" he kept murmuring as he squeezed himself. His legs turned so numb, he almost couldn't feel them but he still gritted his teeth and continued, he wants to break past his limit.

"653 … 654 …" once again he tried to stand up but only got half way up there then he fell down again no longer being able to stand and could only try to restore his breath.

"Is 654 is my limit?" he thought to himself. Although his body was extremely tired, his spirit wasn't exhausted at all. He was able to reach his limits again. This was precisely possible because of his abnormally strong soul which made him exceed his physical limit almost every time. Even though it was very painful, he could bear this kind of pain.

Rayden couldn't feel his legs anymore. They turned completely numb so for a short time he won't be able to stand up. Then with a thought the property bar appeared before him. He could see that the strength increased by one with just an afternoon of training. Rayden slightly nodded then the property bar dissipated and he began his rest.

After a while, Rayden seemed to regain the feeling in his legs and tried to stand up. At this time, Richard walked in. When he walked in he directly turned to see Rayden. At first glance Rayden was sitting on the ground. Richard stared at him and thought he was sleeping, but the next moment he noticed the sweaty clothes and the wet ground under him and Rayden who was trying to stand up with shaky legs.

At first Richard prepared to directly rise and shout at him but it got stuck in his throat whiles his eyes flashing with a strange light.

"This … Did he just reach his limit?" This state of his shaking legs made Richard surprised .If it continues like this he will bring his entire potential out. Richard could naturally recognize such a state. It's the state after breaking the limit. Breaking the limit isn't easy as it doesn't have anything to do with physical power. It's all about the willpower.

Richard didn't think that Rayden's willpower was this strong. It had surpassed his imagination. Richard made a satisfied smile then in the next moment returned to his strict state and after Rayden restored his strength they resumed training.

Nearly four months passed by quickly.

In this time, Rayden almost every day was breaking his limit while he continued to develop. Everyday Rayden's physical strength increased more than the previous day. It seemed that because of his very strong soul and constant progress in his cultivation, it made it easier for him in breaking in physical limit. It also made it easier to deal with the pain that came with it.

In these four months, Rayden's body changed a lot. Although he didn't become as bulky as his cousin Jack but he still developed a more muscular and perfect physique. Rayden was very satisfied himself when he looked in the mirror. Of course while his training changed his appearance his strength upgraded far more.

In these months his physical strength was enhanced several times. In this period his strength reached 56 points. Even though he hadn't broken through in his cultivation skill, his strength almost doubled in just four months. His other attributes including speed had also increased a lot over this period. The progress was faster in the beginning but slowed down towards the latter stages. It seemed increasingly difficult to reach his limits. And the only after effect to breaking his limit is that his appetite will grow. Rayden now could guess why the original protagonist ate so much.

...

In the wee hours of the morning, stood a lonely mountain peak surrounded by a thick white fog that caused one's vision to become fuzzy.

"Huff … huff~"

Within a dense forest behind Carlo Village, a sudden and intense gasp sounded out. Upon taking a closer look, in an open space within the woods, a tiny figure could be seen hanging from a thick and sturdy branch using both of his hands. This tiny body borrowed the pulling force from his arms to move up and down repeatedly. As he made these movements, his body formed some strange poses; the kind of poses that utilized all the muscles in the body, exercising all of them together.

Additionally, there were a few pitch-black iron weights hanging on his arms and ankles. Sweat dripped off his clothes and onto the metal weights, causing them to likewise become dripping with wetness.

Naturally, this tiny figure was Rayden. Unlike his peers who were out playing at this time, he was diligently training in his Boxing skill. Sweat dripped into his eyes causing a stinging pain that made Rayden clench his jaw in response. He could already feel the pain stemming from extreme overexertion. At this point, most people would definitely choose to take a break and rest. However, he remembered what his father told him: that only during this time, will one be able to break through his limits. Hence…he must endure!

He absolutely must not let go!

To ensure that his strength reached that adequate level to begin his swordsmanship training, he needed to train as if his life was on the line! The sensation you receive as you approach your limit leaves you feeling dizzy and nauseous. Nonetheless, Rayden gritted his teeth and persevered on. Suddenly, he felt a strange heat gushing from within his body, and immediately this feeling refreshed him and lifted his spirits.

It was the power of Qi stored inside his body!

During this time, he had never stopped absorbing qi from heaven and earth to refine his body. Because Rayden's body was only at the initial stage of the strengthening process, thus it was unable to absorb all of the qi from heaven and earth. Hence, some of the energy remained hidden within the deepest parts of his body. Only when Rayden's body was pushed to the extremes, would it finally be squeezed out and devoured by his hungry body.

As the warmth of the energy in his body slowly seeped into his body, Rayden felt as though he could hear the countless cells in his body rejoicing together as all his fatigue and pain were gradually replaced with an invigorating energy.

"Hei…"

Rayden grabbed onto the tree trunk and violently flung his body, with a somersault; he flipped in the air and steadily landed on the ground. He stretched his back as all the bones in his body suddenly made popping sounds. To Rayden's delight, he found that his body had indeed become much tougher.

"Tempered Body 3rd Layer!"

Rayden gripped his tiny fists tightly as he enjoyed the power surging through his muscles, his tiny face breaking out into a smile of surprise and delight. He had finally broken through. He was now eager to find out just how much his strength had increased so with a thought, he brought up his attribute panel
