Chapter 8
A/N Hey guys! Sorry I haven't updated in a long time, I was really busy these past few months. But now I'm back! I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Disclaimer: I do not own 'Once Upon a Mattress' but I do own my OCs!
By evening everyone was in a rush. The Queen had announced that there would be a royal ball tonight and everyone was expected to attend. Lesley, Becca, Gianna, The King and Larkin decided that it would best for Gianna and Larkin to leave in the middle of the ball so hopefully no one would notice.
Gianna was in her room packing a small bag, it would be best to travel light. Besides, where she was going she wouldn't need much.
She then heard a knock on the door. Gianna opened the door and was surprised to see David standing in the door way.
"Hello Gianna" David said casually.
"David, what are you doing here?" Gianna asked.
"I must talk to you" David said as he walked into Gianna's room, ignoring the small bag on her bed.
"What is it?" Gianna asked.
"I know that Larkin is pregnant, and you two are leaving for Normandy tonight" David said straightforwardly.
Gianna's eyes widened.
"How do you know? How did you find out?" Gianna asked.
David smiled gently.
"I heard you, Larkin, The minstrel, The Jester and The King talking about it in the courtyard" David responded.
"Oh David please don't tell anyone! Please don't say another word, I know it's crazy but trust me Larkin and I need to do this" Gianna pleaded.
David put his hands on her shoulders gently.
"Don't worry I won't tell a soul. But I can't let you go" David said.
"Why ever not?" Gianna asked.
"It's too dangerous. I can't stand you being hurt! I want you to stay here with me" David said.
Gianna looked David in the eye and saw that he meant it. Gianna smiled inwardly, she always wanted David to say that. But yet she made her commitment to helping Larkin and besides there were prettier, worthier girls for David.
"David, I appreciate what you're trying to say but I made my commitment to helping Larkin. Besides, no one likes me here. All the Ladies in waiting shun me, the knights belittle me, the queen is annoyed by me you have the others. I don't." Gianna said as she turned away from David.
"You're wrong! You have me! No matter what you'll always have me. I love you" David said.
Gianna gasped and turned around slowly.
"You love me?" Gianna asked.
"Yes, ever since I came here to start my training and saw you alone on the stair case. I was so happy when you failed that test that the Queen gave you. I loved you even more ever since" David confessed.
"Why are you telling me this now?" Gianna asked.
"Because I want to come with you and Larkin to Normandy" David said.
"What about your knighthood? Ever since we met you had your mind and heart set on becoming a knight. If you went with me and Larkin you would never have the chance to be a knight. I could never ask you to give up that" Gianna said.
David then took Gianna in his arms and held her.
"I love you even more than being a knight. I don't care what cost I want to be with you always. Here's what's going to happen. Tonight we three shall leave for Normandy. Once we get there and help Larkin get settled you and I shall get married." David said.
Gianna gasped.
"Married?" Gianna whispered.
"If you wish" David said.
"Yes! Yes! A million times yes!" Gianna said.
David then grabbed Gianna and pulled her into a loving kiss, the rest of the kingdom forgotten.

Dauntless was in the parlor thinking of lovely Winnifred. Or Fred as he now knew her. It was so strange to him; he had never loved and adored a girl such as her. It's like they had simply connected. Talk about love at first sight.
He was then pulled out of his thoughts by his father who was waving at him.
"Oh hello father" Dauntless said politely.
The king then pantomimed a conversation.
"You need to talk to me?" Dauntless asked.
The king then nodded.
"About what?" Dauntless asked.
The king then pantomimed a girl.
"A girl?" Dauntless asked.
Another nod.
"Which girl?" Dauntless asked.
The king then pantomimed Fred.
"Oh Winnifred!" Dauntless exclaimed.
The king then pantomimed a wedding.
"Her and I are gonna get married. Oh father I hope so!" Dauntless exclaimed.
The king then pantomimed night.
"Our wedding night?" Dauntless asked.
The king nodded.
"What about it?" Dauntless asked.
It then became a big guessing game between Dauntless and the king. Trying to explain 'The birds and the bees' was not easy for the king. He then pantomimed the stork.
"The stork will come and bring us a baby?" Dauntless asked confusedly.
The king nodded.
Dauntless started to laugh!
"Oh papa I know about the stork, mama told me about it years ago" Dauntless explained.
Dauntless eyes widened. He then put everything together.
"Wait...flower, bee, girl, baby, small….it isn't the stork at all!" Dauntless exclaimed.
It all made sense now.
Dauntless then pulled his father into a hug.
"Thank you father and father I love you so!" Dauntless said.
The King then took Dauntless and went for a drink. They both needed one.

While the other Ladies and Knights were getting ready for the royal ball, Desiree was frantically searching for her sister. It had been hours since she last saw her. She had gone to talk to the queen and now it was like she had fallen off the face of the earth!
'Oh,¿dónde está mi hermana? Where is my sister?' Desiree thought.
Desiree searched every hallway every parlor and still nothing. She was about to give up when she had spotted a room she had yet to check. She knocked on the door and nothing. She then opened it to find her sister asleep in the bed.
"Oh thank goodness" Desiree said.
She then made her way to her sleeping sister.
"Rosalie chica, do you know how-"Desiree started as she grasped her sister's arm.
She then stopped as she felt how cold and stiff her sister's arm was. She then noticed how pale Rosalie was. Pale and cold. The next realization struck her like a lighting blot. Rosalie wasn't breathing.
"Rosalie despierta! Wake up!" Desiree shouted as her voice cracked.
But Rosalie didn't stir.
Desiree then screamed. It wasn't like anything she had ever heard before. She didn't know she was capable of doing it.
Hearing her scream, Harry, Sir Studly, Sir Alan, Lady Rowena, Lady Lucille, and Becca all came in the room.
"What's wrong?" Becca asked.
They all then looked at Desiree who was holding a pale Rosalie close to her. They could hear Desiree mumbling in Spanish.
"Oh por favor, Rosalie! por favor no estar muerto! Me prometiste que no me dejarías! Por favor, Rosalie no me dejes que mamá y papá lo hizo! por favor, Rosalie me prometiste!*" Desiree mumbled.
"Desiree please tell us what happened" Lady Rowena said gently.
"Está muerta Rowena! She's dead!" Desiree yelled.
"Oh dear" Lady Lucille said.
"But how?" Asked Sir Studly.
"I don't know! I found her like this!" Desiree said as she got up.
"What is the big commotion!?" Aggravain asked as she walked in.
"Your Majesty Lady Rosalie has died" Harry said.
"Oh dear me, she must have died in her sleep. The poor girl she was so sweet" Aggravain said in a faux sad voice.
'Now no one shall ever know' Aggravain thought to herself as she put a hand on Desiree's shoulder.
"I am so sorry" Aggravain said.
Aggravain then looked at the three knights.
"You three take the body to the crypt downstairs, everyone else get ready for the ball" Aggravain ordered.
"Yes your majesty" Sir Alan said.
The men then took the body out while the Queen and the ladies left the room, leaving Desiree all alone.
