Demons are Worse
Chapter IX
Previously:
Senri grabbed Mei-Hui and dragged her towards the train station. They were not going to go hunting now. It was bright daylight.
"Shiki-senpai?"
Rima was surprised by Senri's actions. She concluded that maybe Senri did possibly like the human hunter. She wasn't going to bother it anymore. It was too annoying for her to bother with their situation. But she was now interested in the human hunter now. Senri never really took interest in anything…or anyone. She followed them in the station and bought the tickets back to school.
Mei-Hui sat in silence. Her face was looking out the window towards the scenery outside. Her silence was normal, but the two vampires knew something was bothering her. They were silent as well, and knew if something was bothering a silent person. It's how they knew each other well.
Running in Mei-Hui's mind was many things. The thought hadn't come to her, but did she really like the vampires?
"No. Hell no!"
She was going to have a talk with Rodrick now…but the ghost…it felt rather different to Mei-Hui. She felt it, but she couldn't see it. It obviously wasn't after revenge then. Which ghost was this? Her concentration was so focused on thinking, she forgot about the two vampires with her. Only when she was pulled up a bit harshly, did her mind come together.
"Hm?" It was Senri who pulled her up.
Mei-Hui finally noticed that the train had stopped. Senri held her hand and brought her out the train to meet up with Rima. Mei-Hui blushed.
Mystery POV
"Ara~? That's not nice if Mei-Hui likes another person…actually…that's a vampire. Well, not that it matters much. Mei-Hui is already mines…well…going to be mines…Hisoka."
"Yes, master."
"Get some demon bats ready."
"Yes, master."
Rima's POV
Hmm…if things go on like this, Shiki might acquire a taste for the hunter. If word gets to Kaname-sama, who knows what will happen. He obviously wouldn't appreciate it if people knew about this.
Ah, Sun-san was it? How innocent…she's blushing at Shiki's hold.
I smirked.
Senri's POV
…Mei-Hui didn't get up after the train stopped. Rima continued to walk out. I grabbed Mei-Hui by the arm. She finally seemed to notice. I held her hand and walked off the train. I saw Rima with a small smirk…odd.
Mei-Hui's POV
Shiki-senpai's hands were warm. It felt…comfortable yet uncomfortable. We made our way to Touya-san. Shiki-senpai still held my hand when we walked to Cross Academy. My face felt very warm the whole walk. Shiki-senpai and Touya-san were kind enough to drop me off at my dorm. Of course, we went through the window…
"I'm going back first then Shiki." Touya-san said, disappearing quickly.
I looked behind my shoulder to see that Shiki-senpai was still here. It was still daylight out. I wasn't really sure of what to do now. I was preparing for the hunt I would have to go on tonight. I made sure I had my shovel, lighter, gasoline, and iron. Shiki-senpai was watching me move around my room. I finally gathered everything together. I would talk to Rodrick now…I sat on my bed, saying a few words in Latin, and the surroundings turned black with Rodrick.
"Mei-Hui."
"Yes…I know Rodrick."
"How can you even like, worse to love, a vampire!? It's definitely not illegal, but they don't necessarily like hunters."
"I know that."
"Hmph, well back to business then. It seems that encounter with the ghost was odd. If it wasn't a revenge ghost, it may actually be helping people out. A rarity to see since our last encounter with a ghost like that."
"Are we going to take it out?"
"Well of course! That is…after we find out its motive."
"Okay…"
"…Mei-Hui…if you really love someone, then go for them. I'm just saying that it may not be right to go after a vampire."
"…thank you Rodrick."
"Just get out."
The surroundings returned to normal, with Shiki-senpai in bed with me…
"Shiki-senpai!?"
"Shut up…just let me sleep here…"
Shiki-senpai looked tired…it might have been because he was a vampire. I was hesitant to let him sleep in my room, but it didn't cause any trouble did it? I chose to let him be. I don't know why. I was about to get off the bed until Shiki-senpai pulled me back, putting his arms around my head. I blushed.
I was then quickly reminded of the conversation with Rodrick. My heart was beating rather quickly. Did I love Shiki-senpai?
"Don't move."
I didn't say anything. I just felt…I felt confused. I looked at Shiki-senpai who seemed like he was already fast asleep. I fell asleep in his hold as well.
Mystery POV
"Hisoka."
"Yes, master."
"Did you send them out?"
"Yes, master."
"Good. Because it seems I may have a rival now."
Kaname's POV
It seems that things are taking a turn…the environment seems to have changed drastically. I believe it is because of that demon hunter. But I can't kill her…Yuki would be so sad…I may have to deal with this myself…and it seems that Aido and Shiki have acquired a taste for her blood. A demon hunter…a hunter of all creatures. Sun Mei-Hui…
"Seiren."
"Yes."
"We should go now."
"Yes."
Senri's POV
I could hear Mei-Hui's steady breathing. I opened my eyes to see her sleeping in my arms. How…cute. I smirked, placing a kiss on her forehead.
Kaien's POV
"…I see…"
"Yes, Headmaster."
"What does this mean to Mei-Hui-chan then?"
"If my facts are correct, I believe she is in good hands with Shiki and Aido...at the moment."
"…Alright."
"Headmaster! We're back!" Yuki-chan came in.
"Ah! Yuki-chan! Call me daddy!"
"K-Kaname-sama!?"
"Kuran-senpai. Headmaster." Wakaba Sayori bowed.
"Yuki…"
"Ah, Yuki-chan! So how was your day out?" I said.
"It was great! Now I have to go find Mei-Hui! Let's go, Yori-chan."
"Yes, yes…"
The two girls left.
"I shall take my leave now, Headmaster."
"Yes."
Narrator's POV
Yuki and Sayori were looking for Mei-Hui's room, hoping that she, Senri, and Rima came back already. When they opened the door, the scene they saw wasn't exactly what they were expecting. Yuki quickly and quietly closed the door.
"I never expected Mei-Hui-san with Shiki-senpai." Sayori commented.
"I-I-I never thought that either!" Yuki half whispered and half yelled.
"Hmm…now we have something to talk about."
"Yori-chan! I just can't believe it! Mei-Hui is sleeping with Shiki!"
"You're making it sound like they did something nasty Yuki."
Yuki blushed. "Th-that's not what I meant!"
"Really? Then let's leave them be. Shiki-senpai is a night class student after all. He probably won't wake up until dawn." Sayori said the logical thing.
"R-right!" Yuki agreed reluctantly.
Hours later…
Mei-Hui slowly woke up from her nap. She remembered how she went to sleep in Senri's arms. She immediately moved, but couldn't get up. Her body was still being held by Senri. She could see the orange light filtering her room, telling her that the day was slowly going to an end.
"Shiki-senpai?" Mei-Hui tried to wake Senri up.
He didn't move or make any noise.
"Shiki-senpai? Please wake up." Mei-Hui said a bit louder.
"Hn."
"Shiki-senpai."
Senri opened one eye, looking down at Mei-Hui.
"Shiki-senpai, can you release me now? Please?" Mei-Hui asked.
Senri thought for a good whole hour. After a few seconds, he finally let go of Mei-Hui. Mei-Hui got up slowly. She felt the heat on her cheek after the thought of sleeping with Senri came. She made her way to the bathroom to change her clothes. She walked out to see Senri was still in the room, looking out the window. Mei-Hui placed the shovel and iron on her back, the lighter in her pocket, and the bottle of gasoline clipped to her side.
"Shiki-senpai, shall we go get Ichijou-senpai?"
"…no. We'll go alone."
"Uhm…" Mei-Hui was hesitant.
"It'll be okay." Senri assured Mei-Hui.
Senri wasn't one to talk a lot. Mei-Hui noticed this. But a feeling in her told her to trust what Senri said.
"…Okay, Shiki-senpai."
The two jumped down from the window. They made their way to the wall, where Senri picked up Mei-Hui and they made their way to town. Mei-Hui recognized the three spots that held the related ghost cases. She could only pick one, and she chose to pick the oldest one. It was closest to the train station as well. They ended up breaking inside a building…Mei-Hui was cautious, very cautious. She brought along a vampire, this kept ghosts on their edge.
"Who are you?"
Mei-Hui made sure that Senri was next to her.
"Wait…you, you were that girl from earlier. Why are you here?" The ghost revealed itself to Mei-Hui and Senri.
"I'm here to find your purpose." Mei-Hui stated.
Ghosts always put her on edge as well.
"I'm here to help people. But that man next to you…he's not human. I can feel it. What are you mister?"
"…a vampire."
"Hmm, I've met a few, of course, they could never see me. How are you both able to see me?"
"I'm a demon hunter…and Shiki-senpai can probably see you because…I don't know." Mei-Hui didn't risk telling the truth.
"Hmm…a demon hunter…I've also met a few."
At this, Mei-Hui tensed up noticeably.
"Not that I've killed them of course." The female ghost said. "And besides, I feel something big is about to happen. And…it seems to revolve around you…demon hunter."
Mei-Hui was surprised by her comment.
"I've already said what I needed to say to you. And you vampire…it seems you will learn of the situation. And the mister in this demon hunter's body, you'll do people some good. I've done what I needed to say. I shall take my leave now." The ghost immediately disappeared.
"How different. A ghost that can tell the future? I don't think we can hunt it down Mei-Hui."
"Shiki-senpai…we should go hunt another ghost."
Mei-Hui hunted the two other ghosts down. Finding their bodies and burning it. It took a while, but she was finished with her job. All she had left was to wait for the Hunters' Association's orders for her. Senri had to help her with the digging. It was nighttime and they had school the next day. The two went on different paths when getting back to Cross Academy.
Upon entering her own room, Mei-Hui was met by Hanabusa.
"Mei-Hui…I missed you!" Hanabusa jumped for a hug.
Mei-Hui was mushed.
"You smell like Shiki…" Hanabusa growled.
Mei-Hui was surprised that Hanabusa said that.
"I might need to fix that." Hanabusa smirked.
He bit Mei-Hui's neck.
"Stop, Aido-senpai."
Hanabusa continued to suck her blood. Kaname appeared.
"Aido."
Hanabusa stopped to turn around, possessively holding Mei-Hui.
"Kaname-sama."
"…Go back to your dorm, Aido."
"…Yes, Kaname-sama." Hanabusa disappeared.
"Are you okay, Sun-san?" Kaname asked Mei-Hui.
Mei-Hui out her hand over her neck. "Y-yeah."
"That's good. Sun-san, I have a request of you."
Mei-Hui raised an eyebrow at the pureblood.
"I would like to speak to your guardian."
Mei-Hui pulled out a surprised face. "Uhmm…I would let you speak to him…but you can't."
"Why is that?"
"Because…because it seems like he is trapped. We are able to communicate, but he can't come out. Why do you ask for him?"
"…Sun-san, I would like you to stay on campus from now on out. Do not ever step outside the school grounds."
"Wha-no, why are you telling me this?"
"It is for your own safety."
"My own safety? Kaname-sama, I assure you that I can handle myself." Mei-Hui defended her abilities.
"It is preferred that you stay on campus. People may recognize you."
Mei-Hui thought back to her first modeling shoot. Had Kaname known about that? Mei-Hui nodded her head slightly in understanding.
"I…guess…it will affect my work though."
"…I meant to say that someone should accompany you at all times when you leave campus from now on."
"That can always be arranged." Mei-Hui said.
"Hasn't someone always done that? What is there to worry about?" Rodrick thought to Mei-Hui.
"I appreciate your understanding, Sun-san." Kaname said before disappearing.
Mei-Hui thought that maybe Kaname was just trying to define that she should bring someone with her. It might have had to do with the fact that she didn't inform Takuma about their hunt. She didn't even know how word got around so fast. Next time she had to go hunting, she was sure to bring Takuma. A pureblood telling a demon hunter this though, brought many questions to Mei-Hui.
End of Chapter
AN – No need to fret! There will be a Aido X Mei-Hui(OC) moment! I think Mei-Hui modeling was cute though! I didn't want her to model with Shiki because it's too cliché. Even though there were plenty of cliché moments, I wanted to do a mild version, where it wasn't cliché, but still a bit cliché. I also apologize for the two month delay.
