I'm ALIVE! I'M ALIVE! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

But no, for real. I'm off hiatus. Well, kinda. I haven't really written anything new, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I haven't left this site. And if anyone's still on who was keeping up with this story before, thank you. I haven't left you guys, I just lost interest in this site and writing all together for a while. But you can thank Walking Dead and Saints Row for the reason I got back into fanfiction :D

To be honest, Tifer and I wrote a lot of this chapter before, but we didn't work on it for a while. The AMAZING Tifer actually wrote most of this chapter, so you should really thank her. Seriously. Send her a PM RIGHT now thanking her for this chapter. I can wait.

*Queue waiting music*

See, that wasn't so hard, was it? Again, I'm so sorry this took so long, but me and Tifer both regained interest in this story, so we will (probably) start writing the next chapter sometime soon, and it'll be up sometime in the next few weeks. Hopefully.

Warning: This chapter has gore and violence. Just, fair warning.

Disclaimer: Neither Tifer nor I have any ownership of Death Note. Though, if we succeed in world domination, we shall own it and rewrite it as we see fit. MWAHAHAHAHA~

I'm just gonna skip replying to your reviews for this chapter, since I'm not entirely sure who's still reading this, plus I want Tifer to also have a say in our replies.

Seriously, that big-headed twit Near is really getting on my nerves. Who does he think he is?! I mean, yeah, Matt and I skip a class or two. Who hasn't? That sissy-boy, that's who. Did you know he's been telling Roger?! That geezer can go suck it; I'm too smart for these classes!

Matt, go away. I know you're behind me. Go back to your games or something, just take your cigarettes somewhere else!

Ugh, Matt's finally gone, but he got smoke in my face, and now the stench is all I can smell. I swear, he can be so stupid sometimes. He just loves to annoy me. Anyways, what was I saying? Oh yeah, that twit is seriously getting on my last nerves!

That new girl, Shadow, is pretty weird too. She seems suspiciously normal. Well, considering she's a Wammy kid now, that's pretty hard to find here. Besides me, there's no one else that's normal.

Shut up, Matt! I thought you were going to class or something!

Well, I have classes to attend to (mainly because agreeing to go was the only way to get Matt off of my back). Might as well show up to let everyone know I'm the smartest. Dammit, I forgot to take a shower this morning, and now I smell like cigarettes, thanks alot Matt.

Screw it. I'll skip my first class to take a shower and my second class because Matt can't tell me what to do. I'll go to class when I feel like, not when I'm told

"Matt? Mello? Linda?" Sayu called out, desperate to find someone in the dark halls of Wammy's. "Where is everybody? Violet? Loner? Anyone?!"

Sayu looked out one of the windows of the hall, only to see nothing but the pitch black. It was so dark, it must have been a New Moon and cloudy out, because she couldn't see anything. Who knew Wammy's was so creepy at night?!

She took a step away from the window and looked around at her surroundings, she didn't recognize this hallway. What was she even doing out of her room at night? Was it because Linda wasn't inside? Sayu was sure it was well past the curfew that Roger had set for them to be inside their rooms on weekdays, so where was she?

Sayu looked down at her watch. It read 12:00 P.M., though she had been sure it had said the same thing ten minutes before then, and ten minutes before then. Truthfully, she wasn't quite sure how long she had been wondering around the halls, lost. She hardly knew how to get around in the daylight, how was she supposed to do it at night? Especially when she could hardly see five feet in front of her!

Tap! Tap! Tap! Sayu jumped back as she swore she heard something tapping the other side of the window. Though as soon as she looked at it, there was nothing there. As soon as her head was turned though, she heard it again. Her head snapped at the direction of the window, and her eyes widened when she saw a handprint on the window, like someone was banging on it!

Sayu quickly started walking away from the window, desperate to get away from whoever, no, whatever was tapping on it. The only thing she heard now was her own footsteps, and their echo down the hallway.

Wait a minute- Sayu immediately stopped walking, and the echo didn't stop until a few moments after she stopped. Whatever it was, it was not her echo. Someone was following her!

"Hello?!" Sayu called out once again. "Whoever you are, this isn't funny! You're really starting to freak me out! Can you just lead me back to the girls dormitory?!"

Sayu waited a few moments for a reply, but all she got was the sounds of footsteps coming towards her. Sayu sprinted towards the nearest door and quickly opened it and stepped inside, slamming the door behind her, closing her eyes and leaning back against the door. She didn't care if whoever it was that was following her was planning on helping her or not, she just needed to get away from them, because they were really freaking her out.

Sayu took one more big breath as she opened her eyes, and she swore that everything stopped. Her eyes were wide and the breath in her lungs was quickly stopped from coming out as she looked at the scene before her. She felt a scream coming but quickly covered her mouth with her hands, looking ahead of her with a pool of tears in her eyes.

A familiar goggled boy was propped up against a wall, his white t-shirt covered with red blotches and a trail of red smeared on the wall behind him.

Matt. Sayu looked at his corpse, the tears falling down her face, as she quickly adverted her eyes, only to find another unpleasant scene.

Mello was pinned to a wall with a knife through his chest, blood dripping off of him and onto the once clean floor, staining it red. He had evident cuts on his clothing and on his face, he obviously put up quite the fight before he was killed. His eyes were slightly open, but even then she could still see the lifelessness in it.

Sayu immediately felt her stomach doing flips and she slowly moved her hands off of her mouth and back down, she quickly turned around and grabbed the doorknob, but it was stuck. She quickly turned it again and pulled on it, again and again.

As Sayu was jiggling the knob, she felt something warm drop down and fall onto her face. She thought she imagined it at first until another drop fell down onto her face. Sayu lifted a shaky hand and raised it, whipping the drop away and looking at it. It was a deep red. Blood.

Sayu looked up, and immediately regretted it, sure that she was going to lose her lunch soon. Above her, Linda was pinned to the ceiling with several knifes jabbed into her torso. Her mouth was slightly open, blood running out of it and onto her chin, dripping down along with the blood from the several holes in her chest. Her eyes were clouded over and her skin was a ghostly pale.

"L-Linda!" Sayu gasped out, looking at her roommate's lifeless body. There were blood-written words behind her, and seeing them made Sayu reach for the doorknob and frantically try to open it.

You're next.

Sayu struggled to open the door. The doorknob obviously wasn't working, so she slammed her body against the door, again and again, though her attempts were in vain, since she didn't even put a dent in the door.

"Sayu." Sayu heard an eerie voice from behind her, and she froze, slowly turning around. Sayu screamed and collapsed to the ground when she saw a floating translucent figure behind her. The figure, who looked like Linda, hovered over her, it's beige sweater-covered arm reached out as if to help her up and it's dark brown eyes looking down at her worriedly.

"L-L-Linda?" Sayu stuttered out. The figure smiled at her sadly and nodded it's head.

"You have to get out of here, before it's to late for you. Like it was for us." She said, her voice sounded far away, yet there she was, right in front of Sayu.

"B-But the door's stuck!"

"Matt? Mello?" As if on queue the door opened from behind Sayu, causing her to fall on her back, since she was leaning against the door for support after seeing Linda's ghost. Above her, she saw the ghosts of Matt and Mello, who were looking down at her.

"Go!" Mello told her.

"You have to hurry!" Matt urged. A maniacal laugh was heard further down the hall, and the three ghosts looked at it, all emotions on their face before gone, but were instead filled with fear.

"Please, go!" Linda begged, and Sayu looked at them all one last time, tears brimming her eyes, as she ran towards away from them, and away from the voice.

Sayu ran down the halls, eager to get away from whatever or whoever was following her, it seemed to be getting closer than before. Blood was beautifully splattered across the once clean walls. A few bodies layered across the floor, their clothes drenched in their own blood. Who would do this? Kill all the students, as far as Sayu knew, she was the only student that remained alive.

The footsteps came from behind her, faster than before. Sayu ran down the hallways as quickly as her legs could carry her, which wasn't very fast. She felt as though her whole body was made from lead. Her movement was becoming slower, but she couldn't risk it. Whatever killed her friends was right behind her! She had to get out of there, now! She rounded a few corners, evading whoever was tailing her. Why was this school so damn crazy?!

"Come out, come out, where ever you are Sayu…" A deep voice came from the shadows behind her for the first time.

How does he know my name?! Sayu wondered, taking advantage of finally hearing them to look behind her to see who was chasing her, and to see who was her friends' murderer. Though it ended up being a big mistake, since as soon as her vision changed, she tripped and fumbled, hitting the ground hard. Though it didn't hurt as much as she had expected it to.

The man behind her was breathing deeply and he slowly stalked his way over to the helpless girl on the ground, who was too frightened to even move.

"There we are… You look like a poor rabbit stuck in the middle of traffic… No need to have a heart attack..."the man cooed, his voice unrecognizable.

Wait, a 'heart attack'?! Sayu's eyes widened.

"L-Light?" Sayu stuttered out, hearing the same maniacal laughter from earlier.

"No… Not quiet…"he said as he walked a few steps closer to Sayu, who was now crawling backwards, though she eventually met with the corner of the hall. Sayu mustered up all her courage to sneer at the approaching man.

"Then who are you?"

"My name…?" he stopped in his tracks and cocked his head to the side. Sayu longed to know who he was, since all she could see was his silhouette. "Everyone knows my name. How do you not?"

"Should I?" Sayu challenged, though it appeared to be a bad idea, since he started laughing like something was incredibly funny. Sayu started to tremble on the floor, hugging her knees to her chest.

"Yes you should. Because..." he paused for a moment, stepping into the light. Sayu's eyes widened, they looked just like Light, but he had a but he had a malicious smirk plastered on his face and a pair of glowing red eyes. "I'm Kira. And you should of thought of the possible outcomes if you were to figure out your brother, for example, was I.

"What if I were to just kill you off? You ran away, our parents could very well figure that you got into a life of crime and Kira took you out. It's not that far fetched when you think about it. Besides, I don't need you blabbing our little secret to everyone."

"Y-you wouldn't…" Sayu sobbed. Light, no, Kira kneeled to Sayu's eye level and gave her a reassuring smile, though it still seemed twisted to Sayu.

"I would. That's why I need you to stop blabbing our secret to everyone."Kira then frowned with his eyes shining, "Or else there will be consequences."Kira then pounced on Sayu and held her throat tightly, and the young Yagami child was now pinned to the wall, her feet too short to touch the ground. "How easy would it be to kill you?"

"L-Light... please... n-no..." Sayu struggled to get the words out properly out of her mouth. Kira gripped her throat tighter as Sayu dug her nails into his wrists, she could feel the flesh under her nails.

"It would be incredibly easy. I'm actually exerting myself to do this much to get rid of someone."

"L-Light-"

"You know, I might of actually considered letting you help me if you confronted me first-"

"LIGHT!" Sayu screamed as a loud sound smacked in front of her, causing her to jump in her seat and frantically throw her hands to her throat, only to find nothing there. Wait, what was that noise?

"MISS SHADOW, LOOK AT ME!"

Sayu suddenly noticed the teacher standing in front of her desk. Huh, when had he gotten there?

"Yes?" She asked confused.

"It is VERY disrespectful to fall asleep during class!" he glowered, and Sayu quickly nodded, hanging her head in shame.

"Sorry, sir." She apologized, the teacher saw that she meant it and sighed.

"Just go get cleaned up." He instructed, and Sayu looked at him confused. Sayu's eyes widened in surprise at his words and quickly looked down at her clothing. Nothing… Her next instinct was to touch her face and-

Oh. She was in the middle of painting a picture of a rainbow, when she apparently fell asleep. The rainbow looked horrible, and the fact she fell asleep on it didn't help much either. She just didn't have much artistic ability, unfortunately.

The whole classroom laughed as Sayu literally jumped from her seat when the lunch bell rung. Sayu fumbled back to her seat, attempting to hide her tomato red face.

God, that was embarrassing. Sayu thought. Falling asleep in class?! Who actually does that? Well, I will admit that I have spaced off before, but never actually fell asleep!

"Forget to take your nap this morning, Shadow?" Mello snorted at Sayu as he walked past her on the way out of class. Sayu frowned, but inside she was glad. She actually missed him when she thought he was dead. She was snapped out of her thoughts when Matt flicked Mello on the forehead.

"Be nice, Mello." Matt scolded and Mello groaned as he rubbed his forehead, glaring at Matt, ignoring Sayu who was now trying to conceal her laughter.

"Geez, Matt! Calm down."

"Okay you two, get away from Shadow." Linda interjected as she made a shooing motion with her hands as she made her way to Sayu. When the two delinquents left, Linda gleamed Shadow a toothy grin. "So, how was your nap?" Sayu groaned.

"Whatever." Linda laughed.

"Its nothing to be worried about, you probably still have jet lag. It'll wear off soon enough."

"I hope so."

Sayu walked out of the washroom, finally getting rid of all the gunk off her face. Bleh, she could still imagine the fumes of paint up her nose. Isn't that how Leonardo died? Or was it Picasso? No wait, it was Van Gogh who went crazy from paint fumes…

Art sure is dangerous.

Sayu shook her head and slapped her hands on her face, knocking her out of her thoughts. She was already late for lunch and she was starting to go crazy herself from food deprivation. She hurriedly skipped towards the lunch room, super proud of herself for still remembering where the cafeteria is.

Probably the only thing I'll be able to remember about the mapping of this place. Sayu thought as twin waterfalls flowed from her eyes.
When Sayu reached the lunch room, she saw Violet in the same position she frst met her in. In a lunch lady outfit, meaning an apron and a hairnet. She merrily walked in to the line, not recognizing very many people in the line up, but still sending sun ray smiles in Violet's direction as she continued forth.

"Hey Violet!" Sayu chirped when the two were finally in hearing range of each other.

"Hey." She replied as she dumped a weenie and some fries on Sayu's tray.

"What's up?" The young girl tried again.

Violet pursed her lips for a moment in contemplation before shrugging. "Not much." Another pause, "Can you find Loner for me? I can't see her in the room, and she usually waits for me when I have lunch duty."

'Well that's one way of asking for a favor' Sayu thought as she was caught off guard from the somewhat sudden request. "Yeah, right after I'm finished-"

"-No, I need you to find her now."

"I really am hungry-"

"-Or I can charge you for that food, even though I am always gracious enough to just give you free-"

"The food here is free-" Violet glared daggers at Sayu.

Sayu, really wanting to fill her rumbling stomach right away, decided to go find Loner. "I'll get right on it!" she smiled as she felt several beads of sweat drip from her face.

"I knew I could count of you, Shadow." She replied in a somewhat underlying sarcastic tone. Sayu smirked and gave her a cheesy thumbs up.

"I'll find her in no time!" And with that, she ran off. Violet was nice and everything, but Sayu worried that she would anger her one day and similair history would repeat itself.

Sayu found herself lost once more, and with an empty tray in one hand, and lost pride in the other, she was frustrated. She felt herself grow a dark cloud above her head and felt some rain pour on her. She needed to get some air.

Luckily enough, she noticed a staircase and assumed it would lead to the roof. And what d'ya know? It did!

"Ahhh..." Sayu inhaled the clean air. Ever since she moved from Japan, she had noticed the chainge in the air. Call her crazy, but the air in Japan felt evil. Probably because that's where Kira's home base was.

Home...

Sayu whacked herself with the tray she had in hand to snap her out of her thoughts. No way she would feel sorry for herself! It was her choice to even run away in the first place! Her choice to leave! Granted, she probably would've called her dad to go get her when she was starving, but she still left with full intentions of never going back! And this is exactly what she's doing!

"Oh right," She remembered she was on a mission to find Loner. Odd name. Does Wammy always pick name for kids, or do they pick themselves? She certainly didn't choose Shadow, but Watari didn't exactly say 'This is your new name, and you're going to like it.'
Watari... L. How was L doing on the case?

"Ugh, stop THINKING!" She slumped on the ground, the plastic food tray settling itself on Sayu's face.

"What's your problem?" someone questioned in a surprisingly concerned voice, despite the words that came out. Sayu whipped her head around and saw...

Does anyone know what happened to the line breaker? Or how to get it back? Sorry there weren't any of your guy's OC's in this chapter (minus the one at the end), but, hey, at least this got posted :D

What do you think Mello and Matt were talking about in the beginning?

In the next 'Deleted Scenes' we'll tell you, but for now, we wanna see what you come up with.

Please review... for dead artists?
