Chapter 9: Daddy's Little girls no more
Celia Humphrey had been dating Dominik for over two years. For the first year or so keeping things pg-13 was really easy. There was a certain innocence with both of them. They were both virgins and neither of them had even kissed anyone else which some people found weird, but it was perfectly normal for Celia and Dominik. They didn't want anyone else so what was the point. But, things started to get a little tense by the middle of their junior year when other girls started to notice him. He was always cute, but he was never the hottest guy in school until the summer after their sophmore year. Dominik had grown a couple of inches and his hair was darker than usual. He had his fathers light eyes and his mothers dark hair and olive complexion. They say some guys take time to grow into their looks, well Dominik had fully grown into his looks by his sixteenth birthday. Dominik and Celia went from being the cutest couple at Constance & St. Judes to the hottest. All the girls wanted to be with Dominik and they wanted to be Celia. A feeling that made them both feel a little uncomfortable. Celia wasn't used to feeling like she had to protect her relationship from the circling sharks at school, but between his name and good looks, Dominik had become the guy every girl wanted and they didn't seem to care that he was in love with Celia. She was walking into school with her sister Daisy, her boyfriend Alistair and Dominik when she noticed when of the girls from the steps giving Dominik the once over. She was the daughter of a stock broker and Penelope Davis who went to school with her mom and dad. She had been one of her Aunt Blair's minions. Her daughter Chelsea was not a follower, but a vicious shark who would do anything to get what she wanted. It frightened Celia that she now had her eyes on Dominik.
"Ugh, looks like she wants you for Christmas Dom."Celia said as she held tightly to his arm. She flipped her hair and glared at the girl who was staring at Dom from across the quad.
"God, she's obvious. How classy,"muttered Daisy.
"She's basic,"said Alistair. The two couples had become a unit that seeing them arriving to school together had become common place. Alistair liked to swing over to pick up the girls and Dominik at the Humphrey's every morning and they would come to school in his limo. The girls missed going to school on their father's beat up Vespa, but saying no to a ride from Alistair just seemed silly since he was dating Daisy. The four of them walked together and past Chelsea Livingston and her minions leaving the girl glaring at the foursome. She needed to disturb that little clique. As long as they stuck together like that she'd never truly rule the school which irked her. She wanted a proper reign, but those upstart Humphrey girls stood in her way. Daisy had just given up being Queen like it was something that wasn't worthy of her time or energy and Celia was always a strange one that didn't seem to care about social hierarchies. She seemed to live for bucking the rules and to top of it she was beautiful and the hottest boyfriend on the UES. She was focused on making Dominik hers. He was a Baizen and beautiful too. He had a bright future ahead of him and she was damned if she was going to let another Humphrey get everything worth having. It was bad enough that their father broke all the rules of the world when he married Serena Van Der Woodsen and then had the nerve to leave the UES like having entrance to that world meant nothing. Yet, the Humphrey's never left. They were friends with the Basses and Serena would always be a part of that world and now her girls were legacies. Everyone thought they were everything, but Chelsea disagreed. She loved tradition and that family went against everything her parents stood for. They may have fooled some people in her world, but Chelsea knew that secretly the UES wanted the restoration of the old ways and crushing the Humphrey girls was the best way to go about doing so.
Celia Humphrey was at war with one of the most annoying girls on the Upper East Side and she had no idea how she'd gotten herself in this mess. Conflict was not her arena, but she was definitely not the one to back down from a fight. She sat in her room trying to do a ruun reading on herself as a way to calm her nerves. Chelsea Livingston had a horrible aura and it was sending negative energy into her direction. People thought her spirituality was some hippie dippy shit that was simply a phase, but for Celia it was a part of her much like her art. Daisy had inherited their grandfather Rufus's musical ability while she'd inherited her grandmother Alison's artisic ability. She loved to draw, but more than that she believed positivity and good energy was the best way to live life, but Chelsea made her want to just hit the girl until she couldn't breathe. Violence was not an emotion she was used to dealing with and tears started to flow down her cheeks as she set up the ruuns. Dominik was on his way to see her when he came across Celia hunched over her ruun rocks crying. Her hair was in her face, but he could hear her tears. Dominik immediately sat beside her and held her face in his hands. "Don't cry,"he said as he caressed her face. "What's wrong? Did someone do something to you?"
"It's Chelsea. She's declared war on me and I don't know what I've done to deserve. Have I been awful to someone in another life? Why am I being bombarded with such bad karma?"
Dominik laughed softly. Celia was such a hippie and for all of her mother's laid back style, she was still fairly conservative. But, Celia really believed in tarot card, ruun readings and a lot of what would be described as hippy.
"Why are you laughing at me?"Celia said as she scrunched her face.
"Because you're adorable. Why are you letting that creepy girl get to you? You're so much better than she is and she knows that,"he says he runs his fingers through her hair. Celia closes her eyes and focuses on the feel of his fingers on her temple. She opens her eyes and sees him smiling at her.
"She wants you,Dom."
"And I want you. I always have."he says with heartbursting smile. This girl was everything he could ever want and more.
"Even though I won't sleep with you?"Celia asks.
"Is that what this is really about? You think I'll be tempted by her because we're not sleeping together. Look, I have never been with anyone and the only person I'd ever want to do that with is you. If I have to wait its no big deal. It's not like I really know what I'm missing."
Celia cocked an eyebrow. "I just want it to be special."
"So, do I,"he whispers as he inches closer to kiss her. She smiles through the kiss and holds him closer to her. Celia pulls on his shirt and runs her hands along his back. Dom pulls away in attempt to catch his breath.
"I should go,"Dom says huskily.
"Don't go,"Celia whispers. She wants him and maybe she's been overthinking all this virginity stuff.
"No, I should. I don't think I can stop if I stay and we're not there yet,"Dom says as he kisses her goodbye.
"What if I think we should. Not now, but soon."
Dom looks down at Celia with a smile. "Just tell me when."
"My parents going to some publishing event my dad has to speak at next Friday,"Celia says as she lies back on her pillow. "In the meantime, we can explore for practice,"she says as she crooks a finger in his direction.
Dom peels off his shirt and joins her on the bed. He pulls her skirt up so her legs are fully exposed to him. He pulls at her panties and slides them off and parts her legs. They may not have gone all the way, but he's become at an expert at finding other ways to make her come. Dom can hear her heavy breathing as he does that thing with his tongue. The sound of her ragged breathing makes him even harder. He knows all he needs is to be patient that he'll have his turn. The two of them are so caught up in each other that they don't realize that Celia's screams can be heard downstairs where Dan has just dropped his key in the bowl in the hallway.
Dan Humphrey decided to come home early from a long day with his editor. His thoughts are quickly interrupted by the sound of screaming. He recognizes the tenor of the voice and he wonders what's going on. He climbs up the stair and he can hear the noises coming from his daughter's bedroom and immediately busts the door open. What he sees as him rubbing his eye in disgust before anger sets in and he's pulling the Baizen kid off his daughter. He has him by the throat when Serena hears her daughter yelling at Dan to let Dom go.
"Let him go, Dan."Serena pleads with him. "You're going to kill the kid."
"He was, he was touching her in very inappropriate ways,"Dan says as he tightens his grip.
Serena rubs his back, "I know. But, I don't want to be bailing you out of jail. Let him go, Dan."
Dan loosens his grip and stares at the kid who seems scared for his life. Dom pulls on his shirt which is on the floor and runs out of the room as and embarassed Celia searches for her panties and pulls them on while her mother is whispering something into her fathers ears. Celia is mortified, but more than anything she's worried about Dom so she goes chasing after the boy.
"Dan, you can't just beat up our daughters boyfriends. They're 16 and this was bound to happen."
"But, I saw and its something I never wanted to see,"Dan said as he ran his fingers through his hair. He still thought of his girls as being too young to be doing anything like what he just saw.
"Dan, I know it was shocking for you, but our girls are sixteen and Celia has been with Dom with a long time. We were barely dating six months before we started having sex."
He ran his hands all over his face. "I know and I'm just not ready for them to be doing that."
"They're growing up and we've raised her well, so I'm sure she's being careful."
"I don't want her to be careful. I want her to never have sex!"Dan said in frustration. He just wanted to go back in time and for Daisy and Celia to be little girls who sat on his lap. They shouldn't be dating and possibly having sex with boys. Couldn't they just stay five forever? Serena rubbed his shoulders and giggled at his over-reaction. "Dan, you know better than I what we were up to at that age. You can't stop them from growing up."
"I damned well want to try,"he muttered.
"If you do, you'll only push them away and that's not the kind of relationship you want to have with your daughters Dan."
Dan sighed. He knew that his wife was right, but letting go had never been a strong suit of his. "I know. Why did they have to grow up so fast Serena?"he said sadly as he wrapped his arms around her. Serena smiled. He could be such a child at times.
"I guess that's part of being parents. I'm certainly starting to feel old,"Serena said whistfully.
Celia and Daisy were sitting in a Cafe across from their house talking about the drama that had happened earlier that afternoon. Celia was still mortified that her dad had caught her getting head from her boyfriend. "It was just so awful. I thought daddy was going to kill Dom."
"Do you blame him? I mean he must have traumatized by seeing you like that. I'd just die if Daddy caught me with Alistair doing that."
Celia raised her eyebrows, "Well have you guys done that yet?"
Daisy made a face her sister and said, "No. We haven't gotten past kissing and some heavy groping. I mean I can't believe that you're already having sex with Dom."
"We're not having sex, but what would be so wrong with that. We've been together forever and I love him and he loves me."
Daisy made a face. It just seemed weird thinking about her sister having sex. She knew it was a possiblity, but it just felt like everything was going by so fast. "I guess its just weird thinking of you doing that with anyone,"Daisy replied.
"I don't know. We're not kids anymore Dais. I'm scared though. It's a big step, but I think I'm ready to go there with Dom."
Daisy smiled at her sister and thought about all the plans she had for her future and she wondered where Alistair fit into it. She'd been dating him for three months and she liked things just as they were, but she wasn't sure she saw them lasting for the long haul. Daisy was planning to go to Harvard or Yale after graduation and Alistair didn't seem like he cared too much about school. So, how could she plan for their future if she didn't know where he was heading. Celia on the other hand wanted to stay in the city and so did Dom. It's like they had everything planned out together, which wasn't surprising, they'd been attached at the hip for so long. Daisy wondered what it felt like to be in love. She really liked Alistair, but was it love?
"Earth to Daisy? Where'd you go?"Celia asked.
"I've just been thinking how'd you know you were in love with Dom?"Daisy asked her sister.
"I don't know. I just did. It's hard to explain. Why are you having problems with Alistair?"Celia asked as she picked at her pastry.
"No, it's just we're not like you and Dom or even mom and dad. You guys are just so passionate about each other."
Celia smiled at her sister. For a smart girl her sister certainly could be really dumb. Daisy had no idea the way she looked at Alistair and vice-versa. The two of them were crazy about each other, but her sister was so busy holding herself back that she didn't even recognize that she was too far gone.
"Daisy. Just open up your eyes and let yourself enjoy what you have with him. You guys are great together. Stop second-guessing it and just live in the moment. You're young."
Daisy tried to take her sister at her word, but she was too busy worrying about Alistair taking after his father that she couldn't really enjoy their time together. At the back of her mind, she was expecting the worst. But, maybe her sister was right and she needed to just enjoy their time before it was over.
Serena decided it was time to take Celia to the doctor to get her some birthcontrol. It was one of the smartest things her own mother had done for her and she'd been putting it off thinking that sex was off the table for her girls till they were older, but with Celia being in a stable relationship, she should have known better. Celia was mortified when her mother suggested the idea, but Serena did her best to calm her daughter.
"Mom, this is so unnecessary."Celia insisted.
"After what happened the other day, I disagree. It's best to be prepared and sometimes condoms just aren't enough. I don't want you to be a teenage mother. You have plenty of life to live and this is one mistake I want you to avoid,"Serena insisted.
Celia flipped her head and said, "whatever."
Serena laughed and once the doctor had given them the prescription and explained how to take the drug, they both left the office. On the way home, Celia was still staring out the window like her mother had ruined her life and Serena decided to take this opportunity to make a pit stop at a local cafe where she decided to talk to her daughter about her own past.
"Look Celia, I know you find this embarassing, but I need you to understand why I'm doing this. I'm so happy that you found love with Dom, but I think you need to be practical."
"That sounds so dry and boring. You're taking the fun out of the whole thing with all this prep, mom."
"Well, you need to take it seriously because I didn't. I had a lot of partners and only two of them really mattered. I am glad you won't go through that, but people break up and I don't want you to get sick or have to take care of baby before you're ready. I just want you to be prepared for what this really means Celia. I know planning isn't your thing, but if you plan on being sexually active, you're going have to start thinking about the consequences,"Serena said as she looked at daughter with a seriousness that wasn't normally in her nature. She really wanted Celia to understand that sex was not something to be taken lightly and certainly something that could have long lasting consequences.
"Mom, you've been married to dad too long. That was a major speech. I get it, but Dom and I we haven't had sex yet,"replied Celia. She was starting to get annoyed that everyone was jumping to conclusion.
"You're having sex whether you think of it as sex or not."
Celia sighed. She was so sick of the drama and wanted to figure out what she was going to do without everyone breathing down her neck. Serena reached for her daughter's hand and said, "Look I'm sorry for the lecture. I just want you to be prepared and I'm so glad you haven't had the sexual history that I had at your age. I just want more for you."
"What exactly happened to you? I mean what was your first time like?"
Serena figeted in her seat. This was a conversation she had hoped to never have, but it was better to be honest with her girls so they'd understand her worry. "I was thirteen and he was 27. I was out drinking at a bar, dressed like someone twice my age and drunk out of my mind. I barely remember it. I just remember waking up in a strange man's bed. He was nice, but he didn't even know my real name. Look Celia, I didn't grow up like you and Daisy did. My mother was distant and cared more about her boyfriends than she did about me or your Uncle Eric. I got into drinking and drugs at a young age. I was messed up and sex well it was just a way to forget the pain."
Celia looked at her mom and didn't know what to say. What she'd told her was so intense and nothing like she'd expected to hear. She always saw her mother as this cool and carefree woman. The pain in her mothers eyes was killing her and she hated that she brought up such sad memories for her mom.
"I'm sorry, Mom. Are you mad at me for making you remember?"Celia asked.
Serena looked at Celia softly and said, "No, I'm not mad. I just want you to be able to look back on your first time and for it to make you smile. So, that's why I'm lecturing you about preparation."
Daisy was going crazy with worry. It was nearly 8pm and Alistair was over two hours late for their date. He was never late and he wasn't answering any of her texts. She paced he living room floor. She had gone all out and even cooked for him. She decided to wait one more hour before she blew out the candles she'd set up on the floor and packed away the food into the refigerator. Daisy climbed the stairs and went into the bathroom to wash off her make-up, but instead she stared at her reflection for a beat too long. Tears started to stream down her face. The end had come sooner than she'd expected and she had no idea what she'd done wrong. Celia came home from her date and heard Daisy's crying. She knocked on the door gently, but when her sister refused to answer, she let herself in. Daisy was curled up on her bed, still in her date clothes crying. Celia ran to her sisters side and ran her fingers through Daisy's hair.
"What happened? Why are you crying?"Celia asked.
"It's over and it hurts so bad CeCe,"Daisy said through her tears.
"He dumped you? I'm going to kill that jerk,"Celia muttered. She hated seeing her sister in so much pain. The look on her face made Celia want to go across town and murder the bastard.
"No, he never showed for our date and he hasn't answered any of my texts or phone calls."
"What an asshole. You don't need him Daisy,"Celia said as she wrapped her arms around her sister. Celia wanted to protect her sister from the pain, but this was so strange. Nothing was adding up. Alistair seemed so into her sister. It made no sense for him to do something like this.
"I'm going to go make you some tea and then we'll watch a couple of your favorite movies."
Celia was waiting for the kettle to boil when her phone rang. She didn't recognize the number, but decided to answer it anyways, "Hello?"
"Celia, thank God. It's Alistair, why isn't Daisy picking up her phone?"
"I can't believe you have the nerve to call me after what you did to my sister. She's been curled up in bed crying for God knows how long,"Celia yelled.
"I lost my phone and my parents got in a car accident. I've been trying to reach Daisy all night, but the phone kept going to voicemail. Put her on the phone,"Alistair pleading. He was standing in a hospital waiting room and going frantic over his parents. The last thing he needed was for Daisy to hate him for something he didn't do.
Celia ran up and handed her sister the phone. Daisy looked at her curiously. "It's Alistair. Something awful happened. Just hear him out Dais."
Daisy took the phone from her sister and gestured for her to leave them alone.
"Daisy thank God. Did you get my voicemail. My mom and dad got in a terrible accident and I've been sitting here with my cousin Chuck waiting to hear on if they came out of surgery."
Daisy sat up and said, "Are you okay? No, I didn't check my voicemail. I thought you stood me up."
Alistair ran his hand through his dark hair and said, "I'd never do that. I need you,"he said and Daisy could hear his voice catch.
"I'll be right there. Give me a half-hour,"Daisy said.
Daisy through on a pair of old jeans and a sweater, texted her parents about what had happened to Alistair's parents and hopped on the Vespa to head to the hospital. She found him sitting all by himself in the waiting room, looking more scared than she'd ever seen him. Daisy ran up to him and hugged him. All she wanted to do was take care of him and in that moment she finally understood how Celia felt about Dom.
"I'm scared Daisy. They're not the parents in the world, but they're all I have."
"Shh, don't say that. You have me. You'll always have me because I love you,"Daisy whispered as she held him tight. Alistair hugged her back with all he had. Those words were something he thought he'd never hear her say.
"I love you too, Daisy."
