A/N: Finally! I finish a chapter! I know it's really short but I plan on making another chapter soon. Who do
Disclaimer: I do not own Pretty Little Liars
Toby (P.O.V.)
This can't be happening right now. Ezra cannot be A. This is the last thing Spencer or any of the other girls need.
Once we get outside, he follows me into the truck.
"Toby, I need to talk to you." Ezra says as he enters the passenger seat. He says this as if nothing is wrong with this situation. My former teacher is here, in my truck, wanting to discuss criminal affairs after I just unknowingly bailed him out of jail.
I want to yell at him. I want to go on about how screwed up this is and how messed up he must be in the head to be stalking teenage girls. I want to ask him why he is doing what he is doing. But the only sentence that I can manage to say is,
"What the hell?!"
"Look Toby, I know you're confused but I need you to hear me out." He looks at me with desperation and all of a sudden I feel sympathetic.
"It's Aria, isn't it?" I ask him. He sighs and pinches to bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger.
"No, it's complicated." He replies.
He continues, "There are some things that you can't know. It'll do more harm than good. Which is why I am letting you out. You can walk away, no one will come after you. Tell Spencer you quit, get out before it's too late. I will make sure Mona doesn't pull anything."
"I'm not accepting, but why? It isn't like we know each other or anything."
"I can't go into details. But I know you don't belong. Get out while you can. no one on the team trusts you, and frankly, the girls don't either. Leave the A- team."
"Get out of my truck."
"Not yet. I need an answer. Will you leave?"
I heavily exhale before saying, "I will if you give me some answers."
"Fair enough. You get one question."
"Are you actually A?"
"Technically, I am one of the leaders. But between us, I am just about as much A as you are."
He then exits the car, flips the hoodie over his head, and runs into the darkness.
I start the truck and start a drive. Oh great, a thunderstorm started.
He is just as much a as I am? Maybe he is there to protect Aria, as I am for Spencer. Either way, I can't trust him. Am I off of the A- team? I suppose I am, considering that's what I told him.
I guess I'm out then. I don't know what to do now. Should I tell Spencer? She probably wouldn't believe me, which is understandable. Should I tell her about Ezra? I should, if Jason would let me near her. I guess I have no choice.
I stop my the vehicle with a skid. There is an umbrella right next to me, but I leave without it. I run up the steps of the apartment and knock on the door.
Spencer opens the door, and looks less than shocked to see me standing there, soaking wet, in the rain.
"I really need to talk to you." I tell her, covered in desperation.
"Well, come in then." She tells me, she then walks away, leaving the door for me to walk through. I then notice she is wearing a tank top and pajama shorts that reveal her long legs.
God, she's beautiful.
Ezra (P.O.V.)
Oh great, a thunderstorm started. Thankfully I am right near my home. I finally make it up the stairs and look through my own peep hole, since Aria tends to let herself in to surprise me.
Sure enough, she is there, sitting on the couch, playing on her phone. I take off my black hoodie, which would most definitely give her suspicions. I stuff it into the potted plant next to my door. I have to remember to place it somewhere else when I can.
I walk in the room, putting on my surprised face. "Oh, Aria! Didn't expect to see you here. What are you doing here?" I say, as convincing as I could.
Aria stands up, facing me. "The better question is, what the hell were you doing in a jail cell?"
"I was there for making a stupid mistake." I admit.
"Do you really think I am satisfied with that answer? What did you do?"
"I can't really explain. All I can say is that it wasn't anything I have to appear in court for. I was with Caleb and we were charged with breaking and entering."
"I don't understand. Why were you with Caleb? Why were you breaking and entering?"Aria asks, stressed.
I walk over to her, rubbing my hands on her arms in an attempt to comfort her.
"Aria, everything is fine. Don't you trust me?"
"Yes."
She wraps her arms around me, and I reciprocate the gesture.
"I love you, Aria. Don't forget that."
"I love you, too."
We spend the rest of the evening watching black and white films. As we are watching Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Aria says,
"I have to use the bathroom, I'll be right back."
She then leaves the room.
Then, I get a text that says,
You let Toby leave?! You know Red Coat will have your head for this.

Hanna (P.O.V.)
Where could Caleb be? Surely he is out and fine. But what if he isn't?
Just then, Caleb walks into the kitchen.
"Hanna, I can expl-"
"Save it!" I yell. "Wait, nevermind. I want you to explain."
"Ezra and I were breaking into A's lair. We got caught and arrested. The person who owned it decided to not press charges."
"You could have gotten killed! Damn it, Caleb!"
"But I didn't! I'm fine!"
"My feet aren't! I stepped on thirteen rocks on my way to and from the police station! Now they are all sore and dirty." I whine.
"Why didn't you wear shoes?"
"You can't expect me to run high heels! You know my policy, three inches or nothing!"
I can tell he is about to laugh, but I beat him to it. Next thing I know we are both cracking up.
Once we recover, I say, "Okay, seriously, you can't do this anymore. No more breaking the law, alright?"
He shakes his head in disappointment. "Hanna," he says, "I can't promise you that. I can't just know that there is someone out there, you girls, especially you, and just sit and do nothing. I'm just trying to protect you."
"I never said you couldn't help us. I just don't want you getting into trouble for me. It isn't safe either."
"Deal."
He then steps closer and presses his lips to mine.
Spencer (P.O.V.)
I opened the door to see Toby standing there, in the dark, cold, rain. What is he doing here? I thought.
"I really need to talk to you." He told me.
Now he is sitting next to me on the couch, and we have been sitting in silence. I stand up and cross my arms.
"You said you needed to talk to me. So talk." I demand.
"First, do you have any scissors?" He asks. I roll my eyes and head to the kitchen, looking for them.
"So where is Jason?" He questions, making small talk.
"He's at an AA meeting. He said not to open the door to you, you know."
"So you broke a rule for me?"
"Don't flatter yourself. Jason isn't the boss of me and I wanted to know what was so important that you were willing to come here during a pretty serious thunderstorm."
"Besides you?"
I scoff. I find the scissors in the drawer closest to the refrigerator. I then hand them to Toby and sit in the chair across from him.
that is when I notice that he is wearing a black hoodie. Again. However he takes it off, left in a t- shirt. He then does something peculiar. He starts cutting the sweatshirt.
My eyes go wide.
"What are you doing?" I ask.
"I was let out of the A-team, no consequences. I was practically kicked out."
I don't know what to think of this. Should I believe him? He is cutting up his uniform right before my very eyes.
"Is that all you came here for?" I ask him, trying to pretend to be unaffected.
"No, but I also wanted you to see that I'm done. Not done protecting you, but done hurting you in the process."
I shake my head, "Toby, why should I believe you?"
"You shouldn't. I know this probably isn't enough for you, but I really love you, so much."
"You've told me that so many times, and twice you've proven me otherwise. I don't have the energy to do this again."
He then comes near me sitting on the table in front of me. He takes my hand and looks me in the eyes.
"Spencer, I will do anything. You can put a tracker on my phone. Constantly stay at my side to make sure I wasn't lying. I don't ask you to take me back, just for you to forgive me. You are always ignoring me, not letting me near you. I just need you in my life, no matter how."
I look at him with sad eyes. I don't know what to think of this. A part of me thinks this could all be another facade, while another thinks that he is worth the risk.
I take my hand from his two and hide my face in my hands. When I come back up, tears start to form.
"Spencer…." He starts.I look down and shake my head.
"Toby, you have to understand how difficult this is."
He nods.
"We don't have to do this now. I have something else to tell you."
I wipe away my tears and ask, "What is it?"
"It's about the A-team. I found something out, but I don't think you'll like it."
"Since when do I like anything involving A?"
"Good point." He sharply exhales before saying,
"Ezra is A."
A/N: Please review so I know people are still reading this! It would mean a lot to me.
By the way, Pretty Little Liars really knew how to start this season! I am amazed (and a little terrified)!
