Claire spotted Cam walking in the hallway. She caught up to him.

"Hi Cam!"

"What do you want,"

"Just saying hi. By the way, did you think about what I said?"

"No, and I don't plan to,"

"Come on Cam. I was telling you the truth,"

"I gotta go,"

"Cam, wait," Claire stopped him. She spotted Massie from the corner of her eye. Out of nowhere, Claire hugged him.

"What are you doing?"

"Cam, just hold on to me,"

"No, get off!"

As Cam peeled Claire off, he saw Massie. She was staring at them, with hurt over her face. She quickly turned around and went the other way.

"Massie, wait!" Cam shouted. He ran after her.

"Mass, Look. It's not what it looks like. Claire just threw herself on me. We weren't-"

"Whatever, Cam. Just forget about it,"

Derrick spotted Cam and Massie.

"Hey Mass! Hi Cam,"

"Hey," they both replied.

"Mass? Second choice," Derrick said with a wink and walked away.

"Um, what's second choice?" asked Cam.

"Nothing, just an inside joke,"

"Oh um okay. Hey Mass, do you wanna hang out after school today?"

"Sorry, I need to finish this lab report with Derrick. Maybe later?" Massie said.

"Sure. I'll text you later," Cam said as he walked away.

Massie was just about to tell him that her phone didn't work. When she got back from the park the other night, she had tried to turn her phone on. It turned on, but it said no valid SIM card. She had asked her parents about it but they said they hadn't changed a thing. Maybe AT&T accidently closed it or something.

It was about six o'clock in the evening, when Cam had decided to text Massie about hanging out.

Cam: Hey, can we hang out now?

Massie: No sorry, with Derrick

Cam: Still didn't finish the lab report?

Massie: We did, but we're going to a movie together right now.

Cam: Can I come?

Massie: No sorry. It's kinda just for us.

Cam: What?

Massie: Sorry Cam. I know we've been through a lot, and maybe it's that.

Cam: What do you mean?

Massie: I think we're too close to have any romantic relationship, I think we should just be friends. Derrick told me he liked me, and I guess that made me finally realize who I really like. I'm really sorry Cam, but it's not you. I like Derrick.

Cam: Tell me this is a joke, please.

Massie: I'm sorry but it's not. Claire talked to me about what she said to you. I didn't want you to think I was a bad person.

Cam: ...So it's true huh?

Massie: ...Yeah, I'm sorry.

Cam: Why would you do that?

Massie: I don't know. I know you think I would never do anything like that. I really don't know, I just, didn't like her. She would ruin my status.

Cam: What are you talking about? Since when do you care about status? Just because of that, you think you can treat her like dirt?"

Claire smiled as she kept typing

Massie: I really don't like her, and I think you know that. I'm not gonna let anyone ruin me okay?

Cam: So because your status is so high, it means you can just play with my feelings, pretend you like me when you really don't?

Massie: I'm sorry. I really did like you, but Derrick...

Cam: Whatever. Enough about him.

Massie: We'll still be friends right?

Cam: No freaking way. Don't even talk to me anymore
Cam threw his phone on the floor. He stormed across the sidewalk to Massie's house. Right as he rang the doorbell, he realized that Massie was at a movie with Derrick. But she opened the door.

"Hey Cam! Sorry I couldn't text-"

"WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN CAN PLAY AROUND WITH ME LIKE I'M A TOY OR SOMETHING? YOU HAD TO FREAKING LIE THAT YOU WERE AT A MOVIE WITH DERRICK JUST TO TELL ME THAT YOU DON'T LIKE ME? YOU TREAT PEOPLE LIKE DIRT TO SAVE YOUR FREAKING STATUS? WE'RE TOO CLOSE TO BE ANYTHING? AND AT THE END OF EVERYTHING YOU STILL THINK I WANNA BE FRIEND WITH YOU?"

"Cam, calm down! What are you even talking about?"

"Don't play dumb with me! I'm not an idiot! We were just texting-"

"Wait, WHAT?! Cam I can't even text! My phone says invalid SIM card or whatever"

"Liar,"

"See for yourself"

Cam took her phone. It said no valid Sim card.

"What? Well I was texting your number," Cam said.

"How is that possible? I don't even have the card!"

"So you don't like Derrick, and you didn't treat Claire like dirt?"

"Where did you get all this? I know Derrick likes me, but I only like him as a friend. I like you. And sure, I don't like Claire, but I never treated her like dirt," Massie said.

"Claire."

"What?"

"The only one who would say those things is Claire."

"SHE STOLE MY SIM CARD?" Massie shouted.

Claire could hear her from the guest house. Oh crap. she thought.
