My Journey in Lima, Ohio Chapter 8
A/N: Hey guys, it's me again:) I Know, it's been a while. Sorry to keep you guys waiting but here's chapter 8. Enjoy!
Saturday came real quickly and today was the day for the road trip. Ally was packing her supplies and she couldn't be more happier to spend a weekend with her friends. The best part was she could get out of Lima, away from the attention, away from her image, away from her fake friends. She could finally be herself without anyone busting her. She can be free from the restrictions. Sometimes she wondered why she hadn't give up on pretending to be a bad girl and just be free, and she always came to the conclusion that she would get bullied all over again. My worst nightmare… The thought of that made her scared. She couldn't afford to experience bullying ever again, she just couldn't. But at the same time, living like a fake person had her cracking in pressure. What the hell should I do with myself? She decided to throw those thoughts away and just enjoy the road trip. Finally, she finished packing, and she headed down the streets to Austin's house. Let's have some serious fun!
Austin was packing his bags for the weekend. Finally, he could get away from all the shit in Lima and spend some alone time with his friends. Ally told him that she turned down Logan's party so she could join them in the road trip. He was happy that she chose them over some stupid party. Maybe she was starting to stood up for herself. He finished packing and just as he was about to leave, he caught a glimpse of his guitar at the corner of his eyes. Maybe I should bring you with me. He grabbed it and head downstairs to meet up with his friends. Everyone was waiting for him by the car.
"Whoa, you play guitar?" Ally asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Er…yeah," He blushed, "But I'm not too good with it,"
"Are you kidding me?" Trish stepped in, "He can kickass with it. He play it all the time and I'm pretty sure he can write his own songs."
"Oh my god! Really? That's so cool," Ally exclaimed, "You've got to sing for me sometime!"
He gave Trish his best death glare and muttered a "thanks a lot," to her.
"Okay enough chit chat let's hit the road shall we?" Dez said.
Currently, they were driving though Lima. After an endless debate on who should be the first to drive, they had decided to let Dez drove first. Looking out from their window, they could see the endless sea of green and yellow passing by. Sometimes they could see farms and sometimes they could see animals passing by. [I'm not sure about this cuz I have never been to Ohio, in fact I have never been to America…]
"Look at us," Ally said, "We're like in the middle of nowhere."
"Yeah right," Trish joined in, "There's nothing out there."
"You know what we should do," Austin said, looking at the girls, "Open the roof, climb out there, raise our hands in the air and shout as loud as we can,"
"Oh we should totally try that,"
"That sounds fun!"
"Yeah but something is missing," Dez stepped in.
"What?"
He turned on the radio and said, "Music, duh!"
Grouplove's tongue tied began to blast though the radio and soon they were all singing along to the lyrics.
"Take me to your best friend's house
Goin' 'round this roundabout Oh yeah
Take me to your best friend's house
I loved you then and I love you now Oh yeah"
"Okay Austin," Trish yelled though the music, "You go first. Ready?"
"Hell yeah I am,"
He opened the roof and let his upper body be exposed to the outside. The strong wind messed up his hair and he could barely open his eyes, but he didn't give a damn about it. Slowly, he raised his hands high up in the sky, spread them eagle style and just stood there, feeling the nature around him. The yellow fields were passing by him in fast motion, the sky was grey like it was feeling moody, and the road ahead of them just kept going on. He could still hear the music fadedly coming out from the car.
"Don't take me tongue tied
Don't wave no goodbye
Don't take me tongue tied
Don't kiss me goodnight"
He started to remember all the tough times he had been through but at the same time he felt like forgetting all of them and just let it all out
right there. So, he began to open his mouth and shouted as loud as he could get. Whoa… That was the best shout he ever had in his life.
He had been waiting to shout like this for ages, letting all the hate and frustration out from the deepest part of him. At that moment, he felt
free, he felt like he can do wonders, he felt like he can start out something new, he felt…infinite. [Yes I know, it's from The Perks of Being a
Wallflower. What? I can't quote it?]
"Don't take me tongue tied
Don't wave no goodbye
Don't take me tongue tied
Don't…"
The song finally came to an end. He wished he could just stay there forever but the girls should have their turns. So he climbed back down
into the car.
"So how was it?" Ally was the first to ask.
"Best feeling ever," It was so amazing he couldn't find the right word for it.
"Okay," She started standing up, "My turn,"
After car ride was over, it was already late at night. They eventually stopped at a gas station to grab a bite and decided to camp outside of
it for the night [Again I'm not sure if this is how you do it…] Turns out they were not the only one out for a road trip, there also were some
other cars and RVs parked. After dinner, they just sat on the car and chat.
"So," Trish began, "Are we out of Lima yet?"
"I think so," Dez said.
"So what's the plan for tomorrow?" Ally asked.
"We'll just keep driving around Ohio in the morning," Austin said, "And then we'll go back home."
"Wish we can stay on the road longer," Dez said, "One weekend is just not enough,"
"Maybe we should do this again," Ally said, "During the summer vacation?"
"Oh that will be fun!" Trish exclaimed, "We can stay on the road as long as we want!"
"And," Austin joined in, "We can go other places, much further away from Lima."
They continued to chit chat. Eventually Trish brought up something.
"Hey Austin, I thought you're gonna play for us? Now will be a really good time to do so."
"Oh right I almost forgot!" Ally exclaimed, "Dez, take out the guitar."
"Guys," Austin blushed, "Can we do this another time? I'm not ready…"
"Yeah sure you're not," Trish smirked as she passed the guitar to him.
Austin sighed, took the guitar and said, "Okay fine. What do you guys want me to play?"
"Oh can we hear the songs you have written?" Dez was jumping like an excited puppy.
"No, not today Dez," Austin was not ready for that.
"How about some Ed Sheeran?" Ally asked, "I love him."
"Sure," Austin said, "I'll do A Team."
He put his guitar in position and started drumming the chords. He was really nervous. He had never sing in front of anyone as he had kept his
passion for music to himself. He wanted to showcase his talent but he's afraid of people laughing and judging him. His music was his
inspirations, his company, his world… He couldn't let anyone ruin it. But right now, it was his friends who were going to hear him perform, and
he trusted them. So he decided to suck it up and started singing.
"White lips, pale face
Breathing in, snowflakes
Burnt lungs, sour taste"
As he kept on singing, he noticed that Ally was acting a little weird. She wasn't looking at him, instead she was staring at the distance, like she
was in deep thoughts about something. She was furrowing her eyebrows and her lips were pressed into a thin line. She looked upset and
frustrated. He wondered why and decided to ask her later. After the song was finished, Trish and Dez gave him a applause while Ally just faked
a smile and clapped lightly. Now he was a little worried. A while later, Trish and Dez went to sleep in the car, so it was just him and Ally. Right
now, they were lying next to each other on top of the windshield, admiring the starry night sky.
"So," he began, "What was that all about?"
She turned her head to him and frowned, "What do you mean?"
"You know, you acting all weird while I'm singing."
"Oh…" Her eyes wandered into the distance again.
"Am I really that bad of singer?"
"What? Of course not! You sing like an angle. It just that…" she faded out and sat up straight, "Austin, do you know the story behind the song?"
He sat up as well and said, "Yeah. it's about a girl who is prostitute. She is having a tough life. One time, her customer gives her drugs as a
payment and she becomes addicted to it. At the end, she dies from drugs overdose."
"Yeah, that's the story," she avoided looking at him, kept her head down, playing with her fingers.
"So..are you upset about story?"
"No," she shakes her head, "It just…the girl kinda remind me of myself….."
"Why's that? You do drugs?" He was really worried now.
She finally turned her head and face him.
"One time, I was at a party with Dallas and all the others. Everyone was drunk as hell, but I was still a little bit sober. And then, somebody
started handing out drugs and soon everyone was all high and stuff. I didn't want to take it, but Dallas talked me out of it and kinda forced
me so..that was the first time I had taken drugs."
"And?"
"And ever since then, every time I went to a party, Dallas would just stuff a bunch of drugs into my hands and I would take it," she was sobbing
right now, "I don't wanna do this anymore. I don't wanna get addicted to it. I don't wanna die! I…I don't know what to do…."
Austin was sitting there, completely shocked by this. Nonetheless, he put his hands on her shoulder and let her cry on his. After she had calmed
down, he made her look at him.
"It's going to be all right. But I need to know if it's very serious right now, like you can't help but take it everyday?"
"Well… it's not that serious. I manage to get hold of myself and I only do it at parties."
"Then there's still hope," he smiled fadedly at her, "You can still make it! You can get still get rid of it if you try!"
She looked at him and smile lightly as well.
"And," he started again, "we're gonna do it together."
She frowned, "What? You do drugs too?"
"No, but I am a smoker."
"Why?"
"Cuz I am tried of all the shit in my life…I need a time-out, you know?"
"I know…"
"So what do you say? We do this together?"
"But how?"
"We can start by keeping an eye on each other, make sure none of us touch those things again."
"Well, that can be a good start."
"And if we are losing our control, we can stand by each other."
She smiled warmly at him, "Yeah, let's do this."
"Well then, looks like we're going to spend a lot time together if we're doing this,"
She chuckled, "Yeah.. yeah we are."
He looked at his watch, "It's pretty late now, we should go to sleep."
"Can you sing me to sleep?"
He looked startled at her, but quickly said, "Sure.. I'll sing for you."
"Thanks Austin. You're the best."
They laid back down on the windshield.
"Let's do another Ed's song. How about Lego house?"
"That will be nice,"
And then he started singing, and soon she had fallen asleep and travelled to her wonderland.
"I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And after all these things I've done
I'll love you better now…"
"Sweet dreams, Alls,"
A/N: Yeah! Auslly are fighting together! I hope you are not disappointed at this chapter! It took me three or four nights to finish. Anyway,
I'll finish the last chapter of Out of My Expectation, then come back to this. Until next time, bye!
P.S. Anyone else love Ed Sheeran? I think he's awesome :p
