The Chakra Mishap

Chapter 9

The moment of Truth

After leaving Tsunade's office, Naruto held the book close to his chest and made his way out of the Hokage Tower, wanting to find out if Sasuke was home.

Naruto's thoughts began to wander. "What a day…" He said aloud. "Everyone's finding out about the baby sooner than I thought… I guess I have to figure out a way to tell them…"

Finally, Naruto arrived at Sasuke's house. "Sasuke? You home? I'm back from Grandma's!" Naruto shouted through the house, listening to his voice echo.

"I'm in the bedroom. You can come in," Sasuke shouted back, and Naruto walked up to the room to find Sasuke cleaning.

"So, what did the Hokage want?"

"We talked about missions – I'm not supposed to do any missions above D rank, just like we were talking about. The elders won't let me leave the village because of the attack…"

Sasuke turned around and eyed the book Naruto was holding. "What's that?"
"What… oh, this? It's a pregnancy book that grandma gave me… oh and Lee found out…"

"He did?" Sasuke asked, staring at Naruto. "Everyone is going to find out sooner or later, Naruto. I think we should tell them pretty soon… before you start to show."

"I know… I think maybe after my appointment with Grandma… it's in three weeks, right?"

"Yeah, that's when you hit two months. You want to tell them then?"

"Yeah, I think we should have a party of some kind or something…"

"That's a good idea," Sasuke agreed, still focused on cleaning.

"Good… so I guess we'll tell them after my appointment."

After talking more about the party, Naruto began to doze off.

"Naruto, you should get some rest – you look exhausted," Sasuke woke Naruto up and placed his hands on Naruto's shoulders.

"Yeah, I'm getting pretty tired… but, it's early! And… I want you to sleep with me…" Naruto whined sheepishly.

"I can lie with you until you fall asleep, if you want," Sasuke suggested.

"Thanks… I'd love that." Naruto snuggled against Sasuke and let Sasuke lead them to the bed. "Thanks."

"For what?"

"Everything. I don't know what I would have done if you rejected me. I don't think I can raise this baby on my own. I'm so scared, Sasuke… I'm scared that something might happen to our baby. I'm scared that I might lose her…" Tears began to make their way down Naruto's cheeks as he voiced his fears.

Sasuke pulled Naruto closer. "Shh, it's okay, Naruto. Don't worry about that. Just get some sleep, okay, you'll need it. I won't leave you." Sasuke continued to comfort Naruto until he fell asleep in his arms. He watched Naruto's face carefully as the worry smoothed out.

"Don't worry Naruto… I'll never leave you."

Three weeks Later

Today was the day Naruto hit his second month of pregnancy. He was now getting ready to see Tsunade for his appointment. He was nervous … but not because of the appointment. Later today, he would also tell his friends about the baby.

Thinking about the baby, he went to the mirror on the wall and lifted his jacket to expose his stomach. He looked at his reflection to notice that the muscles that used to adorn his stomach were gone, but there was still no solid evidence that proved he was pregnant.

"Naruto, you ready?" Sasuke asked as he walked into the bedroom. He watched Naruto rub his stomach in front of the mirror. Sasuke walked up behind Naruto and leaned down to whisper, "We're going to be late."

"Yeah, we should get going, then." Naruto pulled his jacket back down and left the house at Sasuke's side.

Once they finally reached the Hokage tower, they went straight to Tsunade's office without stopping. Tsunade was signing paperwork when they entered.

"Naruto, I see you're here for your appointment. Just let me get this finished." After she was done with the paperwork, she walked up to the two boys and led them to a private room in the hospital that she had requested.

"Alright Naruto, I want you to step on this scale right here for me." Naruto listened and stepped up on to the scale.

"Huh, last time, you weighed eighty-eight pounds… now you weigh ninety-eight. It's good that you've gained ten pounds in the last two months – everything's going just fine."

"Well, that's good. I read that book you gave me and it said the same thing."

"I'm glad the book's useful, then."

"Yeah, it gave us some tips on how to deal with morning sickness," Sasuke explained. "Thanks."

Naruto sighed. "I still have it, but it's not as bad…"

"Well, that's good." Tsunade replied distractedly. "Now, I need you to take off your jacket and shirt and lie down on the bed."

Naruto laid down and Tsunade started to gather chakra into her hand. She placed it gently on Naruto's chest and traveled down to his stomach to examine his chakra flow. "Your chakra flow is normal for pregnant women…" She noted aloud. Then, she checked on the baby, which was also normal.

She sighed, pulling her chakra back into her hand. "Well, everything is great. You may go."

Naruto heaved a sigh of relief. "Thanks… but, can I ask you something?" Naruto sat up and put his shirt back on.

"Sure… what is it?"

"Well, we're throwing a party today and we plan to tell everyone about the baby. I was wondering if you could come and help explain how I got pregnant to them…"

"Sure, I'll come. What time is the party?"

"It's at six," Sasuke answered.

Tsunade nodded and bid them goodbye as they left the hospital. The two decided to stop by the grocery store to shop for food for the party.

"Naruto, Sasuke!" The two turned around to see Lee running straight towards them. Naruto jumped behind Sasuke for protection against Lee's high speeds, but luckily, Lee stopped a mere foot away.

"Naruto, my youthful friend! Why are you hiding?"

"Sorry, Bushy Brow. You were running so fast, I got scared…" Naruto was slightly nervous as he walked towards Lee.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you," Lee announced loudly.

"It's okay, Bushy Brow," Naruto sighed.

"So, I heard from Sakura that you're having a party. Can I help?"

"Sure… if Sasuke doesn't mind," Naruto turned to Sasuke and turned his blue eyes on full power against him.

Sasuke couldn't help but agree. "I don't mind."

"Alright! Let's go, Bushy Brow!" Naruto grabbed Lee's hand and turned to run towards the store.

"Naruto, I don't think you should be running in your condition," Lee tried to get Naruto to slow down.

"You sound just like Sasuke, but I guess I can't blame you for it."

The three decided to make rice balls with egg rolls and ramen with various desserts. Naruto and Lee wandered towards the meat section and Naruto accidently bumped into another customer.

"Oh, I'm sorry sir! I wasn't paying attention!" Naruto apologized fervently, but the man continued to get angrier.

"Watch where you're going, demon, or I'll teach you a lesson!" The man threatened dangerously.

"He said he was sorry!" Lee protested, defending Naruto.

"I don't care! He needs to know his place! He doesn't belong here!" The man yelled even louder and began to draw a crowd. Naruto backed up so that he was standing behind Lee.

"Don't worry Naruto, I'll protect you," Lee tried to comfort Naruto, but Naruto shook with fear.

"Make them go away," Naruto pleaded with Lee, shrinking behind him.

"Hey, what's going on here?!" Sasuke shouted through the crowd. Once everyone saw the Sharingan of the last Uchiha, they evacuated the area and continued the shopping.

"Leave him alone," Sasuke growled, "he's with me. If you try something, I'll make you suffer." The man replied with a growl of his own and left.

"Naruto are you okay?" Sasuke asked, worried. "You're pale… and you're shaking…"

"He's right, Naruto," Lee said this time, while trying to calm Naruto.

Naruto remained quiet. Sasuke and Lee began to get worried.

"I think we should take him home – we already have everything we need for the party," Sasuke suggested, taking Naruto's hand and leading him out of the store. They continued on in silence until they finally reached Sasuke's house.

Sasuke placed Naruto on the couch in the living room and turned away then all of a sudden Naruto jumped up and hugged him. Tears leaked out of the blonde's eyes as he hugged tighter.

"Naruto!" Sasuke turned around, surprised. "What's wrong? You're safe now – we're home. Don't worry," Sasuke rubbed Naruto's back, trying to calm him down.

"I was so scared… I don't know what's wrong with me…. I can't help but cry. I knew you and Lee were there, but I can't help it…." Naruto choked out, sobbing.

"Naruto," Sasuke began to explain, "It's the hormones – completely normal."

"I don't like crying! It makes me feel weak and useless."

"You're not useless, Naruto," Sasuke sighed.

"Yes I am!" Naruto protested, "I can't protect myself anymore because I can't use my chakra… not until she's born, at least…" Naruto placed his hands on his stomach.

"Naruto," Sasuke countered, "You're not useless! The reason you can't use your chakra is because you're giving it to our baby, keeping her alive. Naruto, I never want to hear you say that again – you are carrying something precious right now. You carry our daughter – you're keeping her alive! I'm not doing anything – you're the only one who can keep her alive."

"He's right, my youthful friend! You are not useless – you're carrying a miracle!" Lee gave a thumbs up and his teeth sparkled.

Naruto then let go of Sasuke, smiled a small smile, and wiped his tears away.

"Thank you."

Sasuke got off of the couch and kissed Naruto's forehand.

"Now we have a party to get ready for, so we'd better start cooking before the guests arrive. Lee you can help cook." Sasuke started to unpack the groceries while Lee started to get the pans out of the cabinet. Once Sasuke had all the groceries unpacked, Naruto finally came into the kitchen. He started to cut up the vegetables for the rice balls while Sasuke started making the homemade ramen and Lee helped with anything he could.

After they three finished cooking, the guests began to arrive. First came team eight: Hinata, Shino, Kiba and Akamaru, along with their Jounin Sensei, Kurenai.

Kiba gave a sardonic smile to Naruto. "Hey Naruto, how's it been buddy? I haven't seen you on any missions lately… you gave up on trying to beat me…" He smiled wider, prodding the blond.

"Yeah right," Naruto replied, angry. "I'd never lose to you, Dog Breath. I've just been taking D rank missions… that's all…"

"K-Kiba!" Hinata stuttered, "L-Leave N-Naruto a-alone…"

Kiba glared at his quiet teammate and frowned. "Fine," he growled.

The next people to arrive were both team 10 and the rest of team Gai with their sensei, Asuma and Might Gai.

"Hello my youthful friend! Might Gai is here for the party! I wished I knew where my youthful student Lee went…" Gai shouted in both joy and sorrow.

"Gai sensei!" Lee shouted from the kitchen, his teeth sparkling.

"Lee, my youthful student!" Gai grinned back. "Why did you come to the party early?"

"He didn't come early, Bushy Brow sensei. He's been here helping us get ready – he's been a big help." Naruto answered, smiling.

"Oh really? Well then, great job, Lee!" Gai gave his signature thumbs up and his teeth sparkled.

Both teams then went to the living room and joined in with team 8. They then started to talk about how things were going, since they haven't been together since the chunin exams.

After the Tsunade, Kakashi, Sakura, and Iruka showed up, Naruto and Sasuke started to move everyone to the dining room, which was big enough to hold everyone.

"Naruto, I think we should tell them now." Sasuke whispered to Naruto.

"Yeah, I think you're right… I'm just nervous…" Naruto whispered back before standing to get everyone's attention. "Excuse me," Naruto called, "I know you're all wondering why you're here… well… you see… uh…."

"Spit it out already, Naruto!" Kiba barked.

"It's not that easy, okay?! I just…" Naruto started to feel really dizzy all of a sudden. Sasuke noticed and became worried.

"Naruto, are you okay?" Sasuke asked.

"I feel… really dizzy…" Naruto began to fall over before Sasuke caught him.

"NARUTO!" Everyone shouted in unison and started to gather around him.

"Naruto, are you okay?" Iruka asked in concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just got dizzy, there. Thanks for catching me, Sasuke." Naruto then wrapped his arms around Sasuke's neck. Everyone was shocked at how Naruto was clinging to Sasuke.

"Naruto, let me check you over," Tsunade said as she approached. Naruto let go of Sasuke and let Tsunade see him. Everyone watched with curiosity. They all noticed that the Hokage was focusing on Naruto's stomach.

"Lady Hokage," Gai spoke up, "Is Naruto alright?"

"I'm fine," Naruto said without thinking. "Grandma's just checking to see if my baby's okay…" Naruto didn't realize what he'd said until a collective gasp rang throughout the room.

"Baby…?" Ino asked, "What are you talking about, Naruto?"

"That's what I was going to tell you..." Naruto sighed. "I'm pregnant…"

"What?!" Kiba shouted, shocked. "You're a guy! There's no way you can be pregnant, Naruto…" Kiba blinked in disbelief.

Everyone else was just as confused – how could Naruto, who was a guy, be pregnant?

"I can explain everything," Tsunade said, "but first, let's all get back to our seats."

After everyone sat back down, Naruto got out of Sasuke's hold and they too went to sit down.

"Okay, please be prepared for what I am about to tell you. This will not leave this room. Am I clear?" Tsunade asked forcefully. Everyone nodded stiffly.

"Alright, I know that some of you might already know that Naruto is the container for the Nine Tailed Fox. Because of that, Naruto has some of the Fox's abilities, like reproduction. But, the fox reproduces differently than we humans do. For the fox to reproduce, it has to share its chakra with another being." Tsunade paused, watching Naruto. Naruto nodded and began to tell the crow what had happened.

"As grandma was saying, the Fox is sealed inside of me, and because of that, I am able to get pregnant if someone were to share their chakra with me. You all are probably wondering who I shared chakra with. I was on a mission two months ago with my team. We were ambushed by some missing ninja, and one of them grabbed me and stole my chakra. I was going to die, but Sasuke gave me half of his own chakra to save me… so that makes Sasuke the father…."

Everyone stared at Naruto in shock, and then Sasuke. Naruto was nervous of rejection and began to cry. Sasuke attempted to comfort him, but his efforts were for not.

"N-Naruto," Hinata stuttered, "It's okay – Y-you don't have to worry… we u-understand…" She went up to Naruto and gave him a gentle hug. Then she turned to Sasuke for a hug.

"Yeah buddy, it's okay," Kiba said, standing up to give Naruto a hug. Soon enough, everyone began to huddle for a group hug, all trying to comfort the pregnant boy.

"Thanks guys," Naruto said, sniffling. "It means a lot to me, knowing that you all accept me and this baby."

"There's one more thing," Sasuke said, when everyone finally pulled back.

"What is it, Sasuke?" Sakura asked with a hint of confusion.

"Naruto and I are in love…"

The room went silent and both Ino and Sakura fainted.

"Well…" Shino managed through the silence. "That was… unexpected."

"Dude… I didn't see that one coming at all, but congrats!" Kiba said with a grin.

"Thanks, Kiba," Naruto said while walking up to Kiba and giving him a hug.

"Whoa there, Naruto! You already have mood swings, I see…" Kiba joked.

"Shut up," Naruto applied in annoyance.

"N-Naruto…?" A timid voice asked from behind the two.

"Yes Hinata?"

"C-Can I use my Byakugan to see the baby…?"

Naruto was surprised. "Oh, sure! I don't mind – go ahead."

"Oh, ok… Byakugan." Hinata eyes began to focus on Naruto stomach, where she could see his and his unborn baby's chakra flow.

"That's weird…"

"What? What's weird?" Naruto asked, full of worry.

"The baby is surround by Naruto's chakra, but there is also another chakra. It's red, not blue…"

"Oh, that's the nine tails chakra. The fox's chakra protects the baby so nothing bad happens." Naruto explained.

"Oh, okay," Hinata replied quietly.

After a few more hours of visiting, everyone started to leave. Everyone said their goodbyes and wish the new couple luck. The last person to leave was Tsunade.

"You did great you two. Now get some rest Naruto, you know you need it."

"Don't worry grandma, I'll get some rest."

"Good. Well, goodnight you two."

After she left, the boys started to clean up the dining room. When they finally finished, they headed up to the bedroom that they always slept in.

"Man I'm exhausted." Naruto whined.

"It has been a long day, so I don't blame you."

"Yeah," Naruto yawned. "It has…"

"Good night, Naruto," Sasuke then kissed Naruto's forehead and wrapped his arms around Naruto's waist. "I love you."

"I love you to. Good night Sasuke."

The couple then went to sleep not knowing of the darkness heading their way.
