For the next few days Harry hid Nagini the best he could; the snake hunting the mice within the walls of the orphanage and sleeping in the green eye wizards folded clothes in his draws. He knew Tom would never go into his things so the snake was perfectly hidden.

He lay in Tom's bed, his eyes looking into his friends as they whispered excitedly, Harry still bubbling at what he had seen in Diagon only two days ago. He had seen Goblins! Actual goblins! Hagrid had needed to place something within a vault for headmaster Dippet that he said was 'Hogwarts business'.

"Do you think I have a vault?" Harry asked.

Tom nodded probably, "Probably, if you're a half-blood like me. You could be part of an ancient family, I haven't done any digging on my own but I'm hoping there's someone alive from my family. Maybe they didn't know about me and that's why I don't have a vault." He sighed.

Harry smiled, his eyes shining even in the darkness, "I hope you find your family, Tom. I'm sure they'll be happy to see you."

The other boy returned the smile though a bit shakily, he hoped so too but as he thought more about it he realised he may have been the result of an affair. Then where would that leave him?

The 10 year old hugged Harry close, slightly startling the boy with its suddenness before he drifted off to sleep filled with excitement for the next day.

Tom woke slowly but as his eyes opened he jumped at the sight before him; Harry was on him, face close to his own, causing him to only see emerald green as Harry stared at him, the colour seeming to brighten even as their owner was head butted by the elder wizard in his shock.

"What on earth are you doing?! You gave me a heart attack!" Tom yelled, hand covering his chest as he felt his heart beat at an alarming rate beneath his palm.

Ignoring his friend, Harry laughed and jumped off the bed, spinning around to face the boy still shaking in fright, thrusting his hands out to him, "Happy birthday!"

Blue eyes looked at his friend then at the thing in his hands. A small snake raised its head, looking at him unblinkingly, 'Iss this my masssster?' it hissed.

Harry grinned wider and nodded, 'This is Tom, Nagini.' He told the snake as she leant more forward, tongue flicking out and tasting the air.

'He is strong. I will accept him as my master.'

Tom blinked at this and moved closer, 'Your master?' he asked in a hiss, looking again at his best friend curiously.

"I got her for you as a gift; you wanted a familiar, didn't you? She seemed a good fit," he explained, not mentioning that she had been free, "She's really nice."

As if to prove the boys point, Nagini slipped from Harry's hands and made her way to Tom, she stopped in front of him and they stared at one another.

'I will be your familiar and you will be my massster. Yess?'

Tom smiled, nodding, he had always liked snakes and Nagini gave off something that made him feel calm for some reason, a lot like Harry did and he did need a familiar, Odium was good for the time being but he didn't feel the connection he felt to the little snake before him.

He picked her up and she instantly wrapped around his wrist before sinking her teeth into the warm flesh much to both boys shock, Tom letting out a yelp at the pain. As quickly as she had bit him, Nagini withdrew her fangs and licked the wound sealing it, the skin glowing.

"W-why did you bite him?! You have poison and even though yours only stuns now it's still dangerous." Harry asked frantically his eyes roaming concerned over Tom as his friend simply sat staring at the glowing on his wrist.

Nagini looked up at him, 'The bond needed to be made.' She answered as if obvious, 'He is now my master. I shall not leave him.'

"But-"

"It's okay Harry, I read about it somewhere." He told the other boy calmly, "When a wizard takes a familiar they must be bound to each other, either emotionally or physically. Apparently she thought that physically was the best way." Tom said, looking at the snake with s smile, "It'll let me summon her easier."

Harry shook his head at his friend, only Tom wouldn't mind being bitten by a snake.

"Thanks Harry." The blue eyed wizard told him after awhile, a small smile playing at the corner of his lips.

Green and blue met and Harry couldn't help but smile, "Your welcome, now I think we should go to breakfast before Mrs Cole has a fit."

Sirius sighed happily, his arm flung over his friend pulling the man closer. Remus moved closer slightly before lifting his head up to meet the dark gaze of the Black family head, his green eyes still a bit dazed.

"Morning moony." He whispered; laying a kiss in the sleep mussed brown hair.

"Mornin'" the other said with a muffled yawn.

"You look like you didn't get much sleep." Came Sirius' chuckle.

Slapping his friends arm he glared at the man, "And whose fault is that? You could have gone a little easy on me; I do need to go places today."

"Aw come one, you enjoyed it. All that 'Sirius! Oh Merlin!' and 'Mark me. Bite me. Make me yours.'" He snickered, rolling them over so he was on top of the werewolf.

Remus blushed and looked away; it wasn't his fault he got like that; the wolf didn't like being suppressed on full moons. He couldn't help if-

"Moony." The dark haired man purred, licking a stripe up Remus' exposed neck, "If you keep looking so adorable I may just have another round." He laughed as Remus went even redder, "You'd think you were a virgin the way you blush like that. And I know for sure you're not." He whispered huskily into the other mans ear, grinding down ever so slightly receiving a heated moan from the wolf.

"But I have to go." He whined as Sirius continued his assault, "If I'm late Tonks will have a fit."

He let out a gasp as teeth sank into his neck, adding another mark to the ones from let night, "Let her. It's only paperwork."

"Yeah but- Sirius stop I can't think when you do that."

"She can handle the paperwork for a bit, come on Rem, we gotta celebrate being able to bring the pups here."

"Didn't we celebrate enough all of yesterday; I haven't been out of this room in 24 hours. I'm glad we got the ministry to agree to let us adopt Harry and Thomas but- ugh oh merlin!"

Sirius smirked as he thrust in again, Remus throwing his arms around him as he moaned.

/END OF SLASH/

It was summer now, the sun shone and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. For once Wools orphanage didn't look as dreary as children ran around happily. Tom had been back for a week now; he had missed Harry and upon arrival had hugged the boy close, much like their parting in January.

The two friends now sat side by side, Harry talking to Nagini while Tom read, the boy occasionally joining in.

The little snake had been telling the boys about her day when she began informing them of a conversation she had heard while hunting for mice in the walls.

Two men had come to the orphanage; one that smelled like the forest and another that smelled like ancient magic Nagini had made a point to tell them, the men had been talking with Mrs Cole about Harry and Tom.

Harry sat there, eyes wide as she told them that the men were here to adopt them though Mrs Cole was trying adamantly to deny the request, claiming they were evil and that they should pick other children.

"Do you think its true Tom?" Harry asked.

"I doubt Nagini would lie." He turned to the snake, 'Right?' he asked in a low hiss. If this information was true then they could be leaving this place and to a magical family.

'Nagini would not lie, massster.'

He nodded and turned to Harry but the boy was looking concerned.

"Why would they want us?"

"Nagini said she could smell magic, maybe they're your family or mine." Harry opened his mouth to object but Tom shook his head, "Maybe they don't want to split us up or better yet we may be related."

Despite the concern in his eyes Harry smiled, "I wouldn't mind if we were related Tom. You treat me nicely while the others..." he drifted off, his hand rising to the fading bruise he had gotten from an older boy when they had caught him alone.

Tom glared but pushed his anger away, instead reaching out to touch the others cheek. He had dealt with the boy for harming his Harry; he doubted the thug would try such a thing again in this lifetime.

"I'll always protect you. You're mine after all."

The green eyed wizard smiled brightly with a nod, "And you're mine." He whispered, raising his hand to lay above Tom's. They shared a smile, Nagini watching them silently.

There was a harsh knock on the door and they dropped their hands almost instantly, Nagini slithering to her master so he could put her in his pocket.

They stood facing the door as one, Tom's book forgotten on the floor, "Come in." The older wizard called.

The door was opened and Mrs Cole came in, a look of disdain on her face, "Visitors for you and Harry." She said bitterly, stepping aside as two men walked into the room, looking around the near bare space then at the boys.

One was tall; face chiselled as a mop of curly dark hair styled in a ruggedly handsome way fell to his shoulders, his dark near black grey eyes looked at them with a look of fondness neither had been exposed to beyond Mrs Stanford and Father Jonathan. While beside him a slightly shorted man watched them with the same look, his brown hair neat while his green eyes glistened happily; making the claw like scars on his face seem less threatening. Both wore nice suites, one of black pinstriped the other a deep blue.

"Hello boys, I'm Sirius Black and this is my friend Remus Lupin." The man with black hair said with a smile.

Mrs Cole glared at him but he didn't even spare her a glance, "You can go now." Remus told her, "Everything is in order we would like to talk to the boys alone."

The woman looked like she was going to object but as the looks the two gave her she nodded meekly and left. Tom watched as Remus tilted his head as if listening to her leave before he turned back to them with a smile.

"She's an unpleasant woman, hm?"

The younger wizards said nothing. Sirius smiled as Harry looked at Tom, the other meeting his gaze. They seemed to have some sort of conversation before turning back t the men.

"We heard you're going to adopt us, is that true?" Tom asked, getting straight to the point.

The two men looked slightly surprised at the question before nodding, "That's true, we're going to adopt you today and take you to live with us."

Harry sat down on Tom's bed, his friend following him. Remus and Sirius sat on the opposite bed.

"Why?" was the blue eyed wizard's next question.

"We knew Harry's parents they were our best friends, he wasn't meant to go with his mother's sister but there were...problems that prevented him from coming to us."

"So why do you want to adopt me?"

This time it was Remus who answered his eyes shining happily as he looked at them, "I saw you at the Christmas fair, you're inseparable. But it's not just that. You both deserve to grow up somewhere where you can have a family, we can give you. You're also distantly related; in fact Sirius here is also a distant relative. His great aunt married Harry's grandfather."

"Really?" Harry whispered in astonishment, staring at the grinning man beside Remus.

"You'll live with us and we'll be a proper family." Sirius stated happily.

Tom thought about it, what did he have to lose? If they truly were related, even distantly that was better than nothing. They were offering a family, not many even spared a second glance at him and Harry, he didn't want to ruin this chance for wither of them.

"Ok."

Emerald green eyes went to Tom in an instant, Harry smiling, "Really?"

Tom smirked, "Of course, this is what we've always wanted isn't it. Plus we'll be together." Tom turned to the smiling wizards before him, "Would you help me find out about any other family I have?"

"Yes, I've always thought a person should know where they come from."

Standing up Remus and Sirius smiled, "We'll help you pack and then we'll go home."

Tom and Harry froze at the word. Home.

AN: So Remus and Sirius are adopting them, they can have a home and family now and we won't have to worry about Harry being targeted by the orphans any more.
