"What do you think she's smiling about?" A familiar voice whispered.

"I don't know, but it seems so genuinely sweet, probably about you-know-who." Another voice answered and the two giggled.

Susan had just waken up from her dream about the wonderful times she shared with her siblings in Narnia. She had not opened her eyes yet but she could hear two voices speaking. Peeking through her half-closed eyes, she could see two brunettes sitting at her bedside, mumbling with each other. She decided to scare them and so using all her might, she pranced up from her bed like a vampire and shouted out: SURPRISE!

The twins were so shocked that Nimoloth fell out of the bed while Elwing's eyes grew so wide that it frightened Susan instead.

"Sorry," the human said apologetically, and jumped out of bed to help the younger twin up since the elder one was not moving, apparently not having recovered from the fright.

"Just don't do that again," the half-elf stood up, groaning for her butt had literally hit the floor.

"Are you alright, Elwing?" Susan sent her concerns.

"I am not too sure if my heart had stopped beating." And a grin spread on her face, "just joking but you scared the hell out of me."

"So what have you come here for? It is usually I who is in charge of finding you for breakfast." Susan said with one brow raised, knowing for sure there must be something cheeky going on.

"Oh it's nothing..." Elwing stuttered as if she was a bit embarrassed, but Nimoloth, the blunt and straightforward one, helped her sister finish the question, "I saw you dancing with uncle Legolas, so what's the deal between you?"

It was the girl's time to be shocked, it was obvious that she had danced with the prince last night but she was not sure if there was anything more to it.

"He invited me to dance so I said yes, but I didn't know beforehand that it was a slow dance and that the moves were so... how do you put it... intimate, that's it."

"So there was nothing between you? But I saw you giving him a peck on his cheek." The older princess asked, still skeptical.

"That is a custom of Narnia so I did not think it would cast such a wrong impression," Susan answered half-lying. It was true that it was a Narnian practice but the kiss did mean something to her.

"Fine then, at least the air is clear. However," said Elwing, "I do think that you two would make a great couple."

The half-elf's frank comment turned Susan's face red and the twins grinned at the sight of it.

"Let's go down and have breakfast, I am hungry," The Marksmen Queen proposed to divert the attention. Her friends nodded as they felt their stomach growling.

When the girl was done with her changing, the three left for the feasting hall. There was no sign of the previous party for the servants must have cleaned it during midnight. Since all the guests were to stay till Eldarion had gotten married so that they would not have to fuss about leaving and returning, more benches were set. Yet, Susan went to her usual table with the royalties along with some additional company: Old Sam, Gimli the dwarf, Eldarion's future wife, Melwen, and Legolas. Since the ladies were the latest to arrive, there were no more seats for them to choose from. The twins quickly occupied the double seats to sit with each other. They passed Susan a knowing smile as she stared at the empty chair placed between the elven prince and the hobbit. Taking a deep breath, she went to take the seat but Legolas had bounced out from his chair to pull out Susan's.

"My lady," The elf said as she sat down and helped her pushed the chair in a bit.

"Thank you." She smiled at him and added, "Good morning."

Soon enough, Aragorn rang the bell to motion that everyone could start their breakfast and they all picked up their utensils.

On several occasions, due to the fact that the table was occupying more people, allowing less hand space for everyone, Susan would often unintentionally touch Legolas left elbow or they would head for the same dish, causing their forks to clash. She would immediately apologize and retreat but the prince, being a gentleman as he was, would help Susan take the food she wanted. However, other than the words uttered for the sake of manners, they talked nothing more, staying silent for the rest of the meal while the others were having a heated discussion about the Fellowship of the Ring. But when Legolas joined in, Susan listened intently, wanting to hear the story from his point of view.

"I'm quite full!" Gimli exclaimed as he slapped his tummy, "I think I'll go for a walk."

"That's a good idea," Sam said, in a lively tone, "I'm getting old and cannot walk too fast. But still, could I accompany you, master dwarf?"

"You most certainly can!"

And with the help from both Legolas and Susan, the two left their chairs and headed for the garden. As the Queen of Old curtseyed towards Aragorn and Arwen to leave the feasting hall, the prince ran to catch up with her.

"Would you mind sharing your story, later this morning?" He whispered into her ears.

"I'll be in my room, find me when you're free." She answered, slightly flushed and walked away.

Back at the table, Arwen leaned forward to her elder daughter after noticing the interaction between Legolas and Susan.

"They seem rather close for strangers after meeting just yesterday. Don't you think so?" The Queen asked.

"They have been bonding but Susan denies that they are in a relationship. However, they did dance together last night, and I do have to say, they make a charming couple." Elwing answered with a smile.

"I'm sure they do." the mother nodded as if she knew exactly what was going on.

Back in her chamber, the raven-haired beauty fluttered and fidgeted at the thought of spending some alone time with the elven prince. She had not felt so nervous for a long long time ever since she returned from her second and last journey to Narnia. Those times were the days when she felt that death could arrive any day and she would not feel scared. Nothing could lift her spirits, things happening around her simply brought her down. But she was a strong woman, she would weep quietly when she was left alone and never in front of her siblings. But now, to feel anxious and tense was a long-forgotten sensation to her. Caspian had once shook her world, but it was another man's, or to say, elf's, turn to take his place. She did thought that it was kind of a rush to think of relationships under the circumstances that she was sent here by Aslan to learn. Yet, what did she have to lose? For once, despite the doubts that filled her mind, she decided to be oblivious of the consequences and go for it.

"Knock, knock"

Susan's heart skipped a beat. "He's so early," she thought.

And checking on the mirror to make sure she looked presentable, she opened the door.

A cry of disappointment threatened to escape but she held it back. The one at her door was not the elf she had expected to see, nevertheless, it was still an elf.

"May I have a word with you?" it asked.

I don't usually do cliff hangers but here is one! Hope you liked the story so far, I'll update tomorrow if all things go smoothly. Do review to share your opinions and thoughts and I'll be sure to reply!

A reply to The Cretin: As a student myself, I know that schedules for schools are always tight but I'm still thankful that you spared some of your time to review. Thank you for your detailed answers to my questions and you have provided me with ideas! Do tell me more about the festivals (Although I might not write about it, I would love to know more about Medieval culture :D)! I appreciate your kind words and support, good luck at schoolwork! (they're so annoying at times :P)
