Sorrrrrrrrrrrrry for the really, really, REALLY late upload :/ but I will defo be back on a weekly (most of all, two weeks) update because my beta reader is now over with her GCSEs so yay! I will try and do that because I know 9 chapters in a whole year is DISGRACEFUL.

Anyhoo, I hope you like this chapter and please review, follow or favourite if you liked.

Half an hour later Arthur returned from his bedroom. Merlin was sitting upright and looking at Arthur like a dog looks at his master after seeing him grab a treat from his pocket. Arthur was still shocked; he couldn't believe he had lost 1000 years' worth of his memory. He couldn't believe he had been alive more than one hundred worth his lifetime. He couldn't believe that he could talk to the dead. And most of all, he couldn't believe his son was all grown up and mature, he'd missed out on all of that. He and Gwen talked, he'd realised how much he'd missed her. It saddened him but it was softened by the knowledge that her, their son and all of their friends were safe in the after world.

He stepped out his room, closed his eyes for a minute before taking a deep breath and opening his eyes as if the shock just hit him again. He stood still for a moment before taking two steps forward, pivoting back round to the door he'd just came from giving an uncertain glance and turned back round to face an excited Merlin.

"So?" He said.

"So what?" The king asked.

"You were talking…"

"Oh yeah…it was nice."

"Nice?" Merlin said having a disappointed expression on.

"Yeah, it was nice to have a chat. They didn't tell me the enemy's battle plans or something."

"Arthur… I haven't talked to them in over a thousand years. This is…amazing!"

"Well, listening to Gwaine babble on isn't particularly special." Merlin rolled his eyes but couldn't help but chuckle.

"You really are a blunt, arrogant prat."

"Shut up Merlin."

"So, what were they talking about?"

"I dunno, they were all kind of talking to each other. They were informing me of some stuff but most of the time they were talking to each other."

"So they didn't tell you why you could hear them and I couldn't?"

"Well…Lancelot told me that you can't speak to someone unless they're in your room."

"Room?" Merlin said. He'd always wondered about the after world, he knew it was a place he'd never go. He had even questioned its existence at times but with the old religion and magic he knew that there was a greater force than him out there…somewhere. He'd never imagine it having rooms though, was it supposed to be a giant hotel or something?

"Yeah, anyway he said that we're not in your room so we can't connect with you."

"I have a room?" Merlin said softly, he grinned. If he had a room that would mean that he would have to go the after world eventually, he wasn't immortal!

"Everyone does apparently. Anyway, they said it would be harder to connect with you anyway because you haven't been there before. So they can talk to me but at certain times because they don't know when we're going to attach."

"Wait!" Merlin said. He raked his hands through his hair a couple of times before widening his eyes. "You talked to me!"

"What?" Arthur said confused.

"When you were dead you talked to me! I spent years wondering about that, thought you would talk to me again… but no word since you came back." He said sadly.

Arthur pulled Merlin into a tight grasp and rubbed his head. Merlin thought this was Arthur version of a hug he took it.

"Thanks." The servant said after the king let him go. His head ached now.

X

Two days later after the miraculous discovery of talking to the dead, Merlin still couldn't get his head around it. Even though he couldn't hear them or wasn't particularly apart of the conversation, it was still some evidence of their friends and Camelot still existing. Arthur however was less 'over the moon'. Merlin just guessed the king didn't take his friends and family for granted.

They were in the living room enjoying the comfort of the sofa; Merlin had to admit that this was much more relaxing than the hard furniture. Back then if you weren't a royal, a noble or a knight you weren't used to the luxuries, Arthur probably wasn't as un-used to the comforts and was most likely used to it. Merlin hadn't ever been in this state since Arthur came back. Sometimes the prat was just oblivious to what other people don't have.

The TV was turned on at the news but it was on low and briefing the weather and travel. Merlin didn't really have interest for the news. Over the years Merlin had been through all of the news highlights. He had seen worse things then what celebrities' secrets had been found out. The only reason he was watching it was because he actually had a reason to keep up to date now.

The information soon blurred into useless blabber and he turned his attention to the also tuned out person sitting next to him.

"So you're fully recovered about the fact you had just talked to the people who had been dead for a thousand years now?"

"Yeah." Arthur said.

"I just don't get how you're acting so casually about this."

"I'm going to talk to them again soon probably." He replied. "I suppose it was just good to know they were there."

Merlin rolled his eyes before the foreign, muffled voices became clear again.

'Now for the update, there have still been no charges against the fire that had taken place in a flat in Bromley that occurred a few days ago. The only two witnesses, who have fully recovered and are out of the hospital are still unsure on how it happened. The D.I's and SOCO team are still investigating on how it could have started but there is no further evidence to suggest how this had happened. The missing girl, Celia Emrise…'

The words turned into a blurr.

"You still haven't opened the locket then?" the words set an uncomfortable pang of failure in Merlin's stomach, he was bloody magic, this should've been easy.

He shook his head.

"Who could've done that then?"

"Someone powerful."

"I thought you were."

"I know, they must have some new technique or something."

"So new magic?"

Merlin shuddered. "Yeah." New magic meant a whole new level a whole new thing to learn but it was magic. It was still out there then it could return. Merlin didn't know whether to be excited or scared.

'Breaking news!' Merlin's eyes snapped back to the TV.

'A family just been rushed to hospital, the father of two has been hit on the head, the mother electrocuted and the two twins are in a state of shock. No one knows how the family got injured but the police team are investigating the scene in Beckenham-' the sound was muted by the noise of a click and the screen turning black.

"Come on!" Merlin said jumping off and putting his coat on.

"Can't we have a rest?"

"Really Arthur? You of all should know that you don't sit and relax while trouble is out there." Arthur sighed before forcing himself to get up and put on his coat before following Merlin out the door.

As I said earlier I will try and update as often as possible : ) Hope enjoyed but for now, byeeeee!
