I hope you all enjoyed chapter eight and Shiroangemon's debut, from here on we'll be introducing the Joint evolution forms of the other Celestial Guardians' Joint Evolution form, but for this one we have a brief Origin chapter about the Celestial Guardians and their importance in the Digital World. Just to be clear, I've never owned Digimon, nor have I ever pretended to. I hope you'll favorite, follow, review, and, as always, enjoy the story.

Chapter 9:

Origin: Celestial Guardians

"You see, in the beginning of the Digital World, there were ten elements. But the world was in chaos, each element attempting to gain the upper hand against the others. So once Owryumon came into power, he granted five Digimon the power to wield two of these elements a piece. These five chosen ones became the peace keepers of the Digital World, each making sure the other did not fall from the duty.

Sekitanmon was always with Owryumon, helping to resolve whatever problems plagued the Digital World. He was always respected, although some feared him for his affinity to darkness. As the leader of the Celestial Guardians, Sekitanmon always strove towards the preservation of the Digital World's balance. When an enemy arose, regardless of their power, Sekitanmon never once backed down to defend other Digimon. However, he always feared for what would become of the Digital World's balance without the Guardians there to tend to it.

Yukidramon ruled the Northern regions, helping her few followers accomplish their aspirations while she watched over them. Despite her recluse behavior, Digimon in all domains honored her for her ability to bring light in the darkest times. As one of the most powerful Guardians, Yukidramon seemed to dedicate her life to helping those weaker than she achieve their dreams no matter the cost to herself.

The third Guardian was Agnarmon, who worked to protect his charges in both forests and cities. He was hailed for his strength, winning his battles with his raw power, having no need for strategy. While he valued the protection of any Digimon under his charge, he also helped them to grow their own strength so one day they might be able to protect themselves if he were no longer able to do so.

Yukanmon was the brave Guardian of both air and sea. She provided to all, regardless of their past, power or potential, and she was worshiped across the land as a strong Guardian willing to help all. She made herself readily available to all who found themselves seeking her, even traveling to the far corners of the Digital World to help those who could not make the trip to find her themselves.

Moamon was nicknamed the 'mother of all Digimon,' no matter where she went, she lived among the other Digimon. She'd regularly be found with young Digimon, helping them to grow and keeping them safe. While the weakest of the five warriors, she always found the power to protect those that needed it.

Together, the five Celestial Guardians helped Owryumon bring peace to the Digital World, maintaining the balance that was so crucial so the scale would not tip one way or another. But as they grew, the parted ways, each taking their own mission to protect those who needed it.

However, one day, a powerful Digimon arose. During his rise to power this Digimon, Warumon, challenged each of the Celestial Guardians to battle and would not stop until he had won. After surpassing the Guardians, Warumon challenged Owryumon as he plunged the Digital World into war and death once more, bringing an end to the peace the five guardians the worked so hard to preserve. The five Guardians convened, each knowing Warumon had to be stopped by any means necessary.

Yukidramon, the Guardian of Ice and Light, created what is now known as the Seal of the Elements in order to lock Warumon away, knowing that Warumon had long since surpassed them. She explained to the Guardians that using the Seal of the Elements was the only way to preserve the balance of the Digital World. Yet, Sekitanmon disagreed with Yukidramon. Sekitanmon knew the Seal of the Elements would cause all five of the Guardians to disappear forever. He knew, even if Warumon was defeated, it would be hard for Owryumon to recreate the peace the Digital World once had without them. The other Guardians understood Sekitanmon's worries, yet they did not know how to resolve this. As Warumon continued to destroy the Digital World and grow in power, the five Guardians attempted to find a solution, one that would not create the same outcome as the Seal of the Elements.

It was Yukanmon who finally found their solution. She suggested that each Guardian would select two warriors—that is one for each of their elements—and grant them the great enough power to maintain peace and battle the new threats to the Digital World. The other Guardians took to this idea at once, knowing that whoever they granted their power to would be able to help Owryumon protect the Digital World in their absence.

After the five Guardians granted their power to ten Warriors, they hunted down Warumon. Before the five relied on the Seal, they first tried to defeat Warumon in battle. But Warumon was too powerful for them. The battle went on for five days and four nights, destroying Warumon's army and surrounding cities that had long been evacuated.

Then, Owryumon, who knew nothing of the Guardians' plan to sacrifice themselves, heard of the fight. He had raised the Guardians as his own, and they knew he'd be devastated should he learn of their plan. So as Owryumon flew to join their fight against Warumon, the Guardians began to seal away their foe. Needless to say, they were successful in sealing Warumon.

Owryumon arrived just as his Guardians were fading. He knew he could not lose them and used his power to revive them as eggs. To make up for the power he had not, he bonded each one of them to a human partner, and only when Owryumon needed the aid of his Guardians again, would their partners join them in the Digital World and the eggs would hatch. However, they would have no memory of Owryumon or their past.

For years, nothing happened, Owryumon and the ten warriors helped the Digital World back to its peaceful state, the former tending to the eggs of what had once been the Guardians. Eventually the ten warriors dispersed, traveling across the Digital World as they helped their fellow Digimon. And Owryumon took on a follower, Fujinmon," the Bokomon paused, looking at Gomamon, "I believe you know the rest of this story, yes?"

Gomamon nodded, avoiding the eyes of the Digidestined and Digimon alike. But he picked up the story, dropping his usual crude language, "Fujinmon had heard Owryumon was the most powerful Digimon and came to him asking to be trained. Owryumon accepted, having taken in any Digimon who so requested at the time, hoping to carry on the legacy of the guardians. For the longest time, Owryumon and Fujinmon were extremely close, and Owryumon told me he felt as if he'd had the Guardians back with him. He saw Fujinmon as his own kin, blinded to his true character.

"But Fujinmon was greedy, for not only had he heard of Owryumon's power but that of the still unhatched Guardians. As he grew stronger, he wondered what it would be like to have such power under his command in addition to his own. And so, one night he tried to steal one of your eggs. For three days and three nights, Owryumon hunted Fujinmon across the Digital World and finally retrieved the egg. He was so close to killing Fujinmon, but he remembered the times they had spent together, before Fujinmon had betrayed him. Hoping his old charge would return to his former self without the temptation of the eggs before him, Owryumon returned to the castle with the egg, and Fujinmon still out there. He had no idea that Fujinmon's character had never changed, rather the side he had chosen to show to Owryumon. Bitter about his defeat, Fujinmon quietly brooded in the far reaches of the Digital World, waiting for his time.

"Over the past few years, Fujinmon has been building an army to defeat Owryumon and claim the eggs for himself. Owryumon ordered us to not attack at first, hoping it was all talk, but by the time Fujinmon had launched his first attack, his army was undefeated. We were forced to Owryumon's castle, where he ordered me to take you all away. Prevent Fujinmon from getting his hands on any of you. But I failed," Gomamon's voice cracked, and for a moment, Yua felt pity for the seal Digimon.

She'd only ever seen him as their crude guardian, never as the vulnerable Digimon who had failed his master and friend before. She reached out, rubbing her hand along his cold back.

"Is the only way to defeat Fujinmon the Seal of the Elements?" Katsuo questioned.

"Indeed. But should you eight attempt it on your own, you will perish. But with all ten of you, it is possible that you will not face the same fate as the Guardians did. You are missing the Guardian of Ice and Light, the ones who hold to key to your dreams. Until you reclaim them from Fujinmon, you are easily stoppable," Bokomon paused, looking over the group, "As for the rest of you..

"Takeshi, Commandramon, you hold the power of wood and metal, the same as Agnarmon. You both are the strength of the group. However, you must beware, for there is more to fighting than physical power. Should you not learn the true meaning of strength, you will not be able to save your friends. Even Agnarmon knew the value of having a team to support him in battle, keep your friends close, but keep each other even closer.

Asuka and Liollmon, you control the water and wind, much like Yukanmon. And you hold what our enemy lacks: sympathy for those weaker than you. While the Guardians protected those weaker than themselves, you must learn your own limits. Without knowing your limits, you will fail to save anyone. You must be careful to never let your own prejudice get in your way.

Yua and Bearmon, together you unite earth and electricity, the ones who hold the legacy of Moamon. Your care for those large and small is what gives the Guardians power. But you are led by emotions alone, should you continue your current path your doom will come from those you care for. But do not stop caring, for that will bring a swift end to the duties you have to your team

Katsuo and Crubimon, you two are charged with darkness and fire. You are what is left of Sekitanmon, the most powerful of the warriors. You kindle the group's courage, it is a flame you must never let die. But beware, for fire and darkness are the easiest elements to lose control of, if you do not learn to accept your power, you will meet your end from your other side.

"And for when you find the Guardian of Ice and Light, make them aware that without a proper light, they are destined to be their own undoing."
