Ever since Death sent me in this universe I have been wondering what are the difference between this universe and the one I came from. Rowling in the books never explained the muggle world in much details. Surely having magic in this world must have affected the muggle side as well.
When I woke up at Hogwarts I didn't have much time to get the details of the working relationship between the muggle and the wizarding world. That's why I came to the local library to check the history of the muggle world.
Entering the library I approached the librarian who turned out to be a middle age man. He smiles at me " What can I do for you young man? ".
"Sir, I needed some recent history books. Can you help me" I replied.
He leads me to the back of the library and points to the bottom left shelf "The recent history books are all here. If you need books with material from before that you can take them from the shelf above this one. Anything else". At my negative reply he left. I immediately started looking through the recent history books.
Turns out the World War II remained mostly the same apart from some minor differences. The major changes appeared after that. In this world after American nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki the World War did stop. But all the records related to the making of atomic bomb mysteriously disappeared few days after the war ended. All the main person involved with the atomic bomb project were found dead with no harm to their bodies. United States lost all the blueprints related to the bomb. Any attempt to recreate the bombs never again proved successful. So there was no race in the world countries to become nuclear power nations.
As I read this I realized the wizards must have removed all the documents related to such a weapon of mass destruction because their world itself must be vulnerable to it as well. The wizarding world would not have wanted the muggle world to have such a destructive weapon. Still I made a note to send Dobby to acquire some wizarding World War history books to check out my theory.
After finishing the history section I decided to read about the latest technological advances in the muggle world to compare it to my own world.
In the 90s in my world the surveillance cameras were very widespread and popular. The arrival of internet and hard drives had made them more valuable. But in this world the technology was quite outdated. The internet hasn't started yet. The security cameras don't work half the time. So they are not very popular.
As I thought about this difference between these two universes. I realized that the magic of the world must have affected the hardware of the cameras due to which they had problems working correctly.
Well at least this explains how the hell the wizards haven't been caught on cameras yet. But it also means that once muggles find a solution to prevent the cameras from short-circuiting or upgrade the quality of their current cameras the stupidity of the wizarding world will out them.
Still for now it seems we are safe. These books have at least provided me with some answers the rest I can find out from the wizarding world. It looks like I would have to spend some time reading magical history to cover all my tracks.
If I want to live a long life on this world. I would have to make sure that after dealing with Voldemort there are no more sudden surprises. Because by the time I will finish Voldemort, I will be powerful enough that the only other thing that could seriously harm me would be a war between the muggle and wizard kind. So I would have to make sure that the muggle world never find out about us.
After putting the books away I saw that the sun was setting down, remembering that Petunia had asked me to come home to help her prepare dinner before Vernon arrived I left the library.
