Last full Chapter. I might make a squeal but i'm not sure yet.
Jeff and Nick made their way through the battlefield. Nick couldn't even distinguish who was who anymore. They were all the same yet, they were fighting to the death. He followed behind Jeff as his shadow. He didn't want something to happen if they were separated. Jeff stopped suddenly and Nick felt him tense. He looked over the blondes shoulder to see Puck standing there, sword drawn and ready to pounce.
"Noah…" Jeff barley managed. "Why?"
"Jeffrey you have to see it from her point of view too. Do you really want to live hidden for the rest of your life, or do you want to live out in the open? Free and able to be like humans. Have their technology and be modern."
"I've been out in the human world. For weeks as you know. It is amazing but it's theirs. not ours and my mother just wants to kill them, not live among them. Is that what you really want, to be feared for the rest of your immortal life?"
"It's a chance I'm willing to take." He lunged at Jeff but Jeff was faster. Before Puck could get a blow in, he was on the ground with the tip of Jeff's sword at his neck. Jeff hesitated; Puck had been his trainer when Jeff was little. Trained him to never have mercy and to kill anything that was a threat to him and his loved one's. He had to honor that now, no matter what his heart told him. He raised the blade and before he could plunge it into Pucks jugular, Nick grabbed his wrist.
"Don't, you'll only regret it in the end. Let him go."
Jeff shook his head. "That's not what I was taught. You know that."
"A real king has mercy." Nick's words were like a slap to the face. He pulled away and dragged Nick away from the guard and back on Rebekah's trail. She had fled the scene after Jeff attacked her, Jeff assumed she had gone back to the castle to hide out and let her minions do the dirty work. Walking deeper into the forest Nick stopped. He had this feeling that he was going in the wrong direction.
"Nick?" Jeff had felt Nick stop and looked back at the brunette. He had a faraway look and then started running in another direction. Jeff took off after him yelling for him to stop. Nick didn't stop until he came across the waterfall pool Jeff had taken him to weeks ago. Jeff came up behind him and stopped. Nick slowly walked to the water and kneeled down to touch it. The water slowly made its way up his arm and around his body pulling him into the water. Jeff tried jumping in after him but the trees around him grew until their branches trapped him. "NICK!" Jeff struggled and struggled to no avail.
Nick felt his lungs burn with the loss of air. He screamed for Jeff but he ended up swallowing water. So this is how he would die, again. It probably had been a trap of Rebekah's and he had fallen into it. He couldn't stand the pain anymore so he took a breath. Peacefully his eyes started to close and he let the blackness take him over. He saw a white light and made his way to it. He didn't want to leave Jeff but it was too late. He was already in the light. It surrounded him in caring warmth. It was like waking up in Jeff's arms after a night of 'fun', accept he was never going to wake up.
"Wake my son." That voice, he used to hear it in his dreams when he was little. It had left when he turned five but it had freaked him out.
"Hello?" The warmth surrounding him filled his veins and he felt like he was being shocked. "Jeff!" He just wanted his prince to save him and hold him. Just let me go! Jeff. I want Jeff."
The shocking stopped but he still felt like it was coursing through his veins. A woman appeared in front of him, her brown hair grown long and in curls. She had warm brown eyes and her face was something of an angel. "My son how've you grown."
Nick looked around but he was the only one around. "Um what?"
The woman smiled and came closer. "You were taken at such a young age. I died shortly after but I've been looking over you. My name is Sabina, fallen queen of Rowan. I am your true mother."
Nick just looked at her. Faintly he remembered seeing her in his dreams. "You tried to talk to me…when I was younger."
"Yes, but you were raised as a mortal that you lost your power and the connection to me. "
"So, I'm dead is that why I can talk to you and stuff."
"No Nicholas. You are very much alive. I needed to give you your power, when Rebekah Killed you, your blood fell to the earth. Mother Nature does not take the death of her children lightly. She let you heal and be able to harness your power again. I'm here to give it to you. Jeffrey will show you how to use it properly and for good. "
Nick nodded. He was speechless. He was a warlock! The guys at Dalton would never let him live this down.
"Now you must go but know that you will be able to reach me when you truly need it and I will always watch over you. Goodbye my son." She faded away before Nick could ask her to stay, and he awoke gasping for air. His eyes opened and again he thought he was dead, since was looking at his own angel.
"Hi beautiful."
"Nick…I thought I'd lost you again." Nick could see tears in Jeff's eyes.
"You won't lose me that easily. Come on we have to go stop Rebekah. "Jeff gave him a look and his eyes went wide.
"What happened in there?" He pointed at the water.
"I met my mom. My real one, she gave me my power back. "
Jeff just stared and then grabbed Nick's hand and they went toward Oscura.
Rebekah paced the floor of her castle. She had done the ritual right, so why was that brat alive? She had seen him hiding behind her foolish son. They were both idiots and deserved to die. She looked at her husband who was under her spell. He would soon be dead and she would be the only ruler to rule the earth. She had to get rid of her son somehow. He was the only heir and standing in the way of her crown. She would find a way to get rid of him.
Jeff had explained the fundamentals of magic to Nick on the way to the palace. Now they were sneaking in and quietly going up to the Kings room. Nick mentally prepared himself to either die, by her hand or by his own. If something happened to Jeff he wouldn't be able to go on. He stopped the blonde halfway up the castle. Jeff looked at the shorter male before Nick kissed him. Jeff kissed back and they just stayed that way. Neither wanted to lose the other and this might have been their last time together. Jeff cursed that he hadn't let Nick have his way with him. They had only done things Nick said were 'fooling around', but now…now Jeff regretted not having that special moment with the boy he loved. They broke apart and proceeded walking, both avoiding having to say the goodbye speech.
"Nick we can't avoid this. If I die…you can't follow me."
"Jeff I am not living without you. If you die then I die. But we are not going to die. We are going in there and winning this thing. Got it?"
Jeff nodded and kissed Nick one last time before they walked through the doors.
Rebekah sat upon her throne and stood as the two walked in. She didn't even move a muscle as the king's sword flew towards her son. Jeff barley missed it and growled. He didn't have the patience for this anymore. He wanted her dead and he wanted her dead now. He knew only Nick could kill her but that would need a distraction and Jeff was the only one there to give him one. His eyes locked with Nicks and before Nick could shake his head no, Jeff had already impaled the witch with a knife. A gush of power made Jeff fly into the nearby wall as flames grew and danced around him. She walked toward the blonde and the flames grew and started constricting around him. Nick only had one chance or Jeff would be dead and he would be next. He pulled the dagger Rebekah had used on him out of his belt and said the words Jeff had told him to say. Slowly he made his way up behind the witch and stabbed her through the heart as deep as he could. It wasn't deep since he wasn't strong like Jeff, but it was enough that the flames disappeared and Jeff helped push the dagger in. deeper. She let out a scream of pain and then her body went limp in the boys' arms. The sky cleared and the moon shone across the land. Dawn peeking out above the horizon. Nick dropped the body to the floor and looked around the castle before looking at Jeff.
"We did it. She's dead. "He jumped up in excitement and wrapped his arms around the taller male.
Jeff held onto the boy he loved as a smile broke onto his face. "We're alive. " His frown returned when he saw his father, sick and on his death bed. "Dad?" Jeff made his way to the dying king and kneeled at his father's side.
"Jeffrey…I am sorry I must leave you, but you will be an amazing King. Your heart is pure. Make sure to always keep it that way. Your mother let power corrupt her; I don't want the same to happen to my son."
"I won't become her. I can heal you."
"No, let it you. It's time you took the crown. You are the king now Jeffrey. Lead in the way that would make all your ancestors proud." With that, the king was dead. Jeff let himself shed some tears. His dad and Brittany had been the two he most cared about.
Jeff stood after a few minutes of mourning. "We should go. I have to do damage control." Nick nodded and followed the blonde out of the castle and back to the battle. Everyone had stopped fighting as the night cleared. The two kingdoms had split and were each standing with their own people. The people of Oscura bowed down at their new king.
"To the kingdom. I will deal with the traitors as I seem fit and not one will go unpunished. Things will change. "The people made their way towards the kingdom as Jeff looked at the King of Rowan. "Thank you for your help. If not for you we would have lost in a matter of seconds."
"You are a bright one, perhaps we can come across a truce young King."
Jeff nodded and then moved to let Nick step up. "Your son. " Nick looked up at the middle aged man. His eyes resembled those of Nick's.
"Nicholas. My son you have returned. Come we shall have a ball tonight held in your honor."
"In all due respect, I'd like to go back with Jeff…if that's alright."The king looked between the two boys "As you wish. It seems to me the truce between us has come into effect sooner than planned. "
Nick took Jeff's hand and together they walked towards their futures.
A week had past and everything had gone back to normal, well normal to them. Right now the whole kingdom of Oscura was packed into the castles ballroom. Nick stood with Wes, David, Thad, Trent, Blaine, and surprisingly Kurt, the Dalton boys didn't want to miss the event that would take place today. They had started to remodel so the ballroom was filled with a wooden floor, marble pillars and balconies made with mahogany. The castle and whole kingdom was taking on the modern life look. Jeff walked up the carpet rolled down the aisle. The person doing the crowning started talking. Once he finished he turned and picked up a white gold crown incrusted with emeralds. He placed it on Jeff's platinum hair and then stepped back.
"I give you your new king, Jeffrey Alexander Sterling."
