"It is perfectly okay for gods of death to read the guidebook for him/herself and teach humans about its contents, no matter what the content may include."

"Phew, done," said Ryuk with a relieved sigh, his hand dropping down the ground beside him. Now that he's done with copying the guidebook…now he has the write the rule book, with the do's and do not's. Apparently the Shinigami King decided that Harry needed a rule book for the guide book.

"The child needs a proper understanding of the Death Note," the Death God overlord said, "should he become a Shinigami. Since you can't give him the guidebook, however, I will allow you to write him a rule book, for the rules of the ways of a Death God to give to him."

Proper understanding of the Death Note, my bones! Ryuk was starting to think that this was another way of the Shinigami King punishing him. He hadn't written this much in such a short time since…ever. Well, it was a clever punishment. Harry would know the littlest details about Shinigami and Ryuk won't be able to use his right hand until November. Right now Ryuk could barely move his hand already. The spikey-haired Shinigami could put off writing the rule book until October, he guessed. Ryuk wasn't planning on reading a word out of either book for Harry until Christmas.

Ryuk let a sigh escape his lips. The feeling of guilt coiling in his stomach at the thought of the Christmas days at those human's house Harry had no choice but to call family. All Harry ever got for Christmas were worn and tattered hand-me-downs. And the books would be something more thoughtful than just a pile of rags to wear. Ryuk felt guilty at the thought of Christmas because he had to stay hidden so Harry couldn't see him. People from the Wizarding world are able to see him but muggles are not, and because of that Ryuk had to keep out of sight so Harry wouldn't start talking to him. Or if Ryuk had made his existence known to Harry earlier they would probably have one of those secret midnight chats. If they did that there was a possibility that one of those humans would eventually catch Harry talking to himself and then label him insane and put him in a mental institute (which is unlikely but just to be safe). Plus Ryuk didn't want them to know he even existed, or have the idea of him in their heads'.

The thoughts of all those years Harry had to go through all that physical and mental abuse. Harry had no friends except for the little house spiders that live in his cupboard with him. Ryuk swore to himself that he would hang himself if he could for not interfering with the human's mistreatment for his son. Having to watch a life like that happen to an innocent child like Harry had torn his non-existent heart to shreds. There was nothing he could do. Many times before Ryuk had thought about writing his son's relative's names in his Death Note. But he knew he couldn't. He had to restrain himself from doing so. The reason? Number 1: where would Harry go if they died; a foster home? Most foster homes aren't what most people want to believe they are. Number 2: when Shinigami save the humans they love (or just saving one in general) from a threat or danger they would die. That's why Ryuk didn't save Lilly (well, that and the fact that Shinigami aren't allowed to kill wizards) from Tom Riddle.

When Ryuk had written the Dursely's names in his Death Note he expected to find himself in a pile of ashes. But he didn't. He was still alive and intact. Ryuk thought it had to do with Harry's Shinigami blood that prevented him from dying on an act of love. Though, to be honest, Ryuk wasn't so sure if he loved Harry or not. I mean he felt bad for how much Harry had to suffer at the hands of those monsters that can barely be called humans. But Ryuk barely knew Lilly Evans; he didn't know how he could even father a child in the first place! Shinigami's can't reproduce. Unless…well Gods of Death are visible to the wizard's eye and very few spells could be casted on a Death God but only if the said Death God is willing. Could Lilly have possibly-no! Lilly Evans-Potter wouldn't do anything sinister like that. It was just impossibility, like-like-the platypus or something like that. But what other explanations could answer his questions? Ryuk doesn't even remember meeting Lilly, so how could she cheat on her husband with a Death God if the said Death God has no memo-

Before Ryuk had finished that thought it was like a gong had gone off in his head. A memory erase spell! Lilly could have turned Ryuk into a human had her way with him turned him back into a Shinigami and erased his memories of the past year. But what troubles Ryuk is why would she erase his memories of an entire year if they-

Ryuk dropped his head in his left, non-exhausted, hand and groaned in frustration. He didn't even want to finish that thought. Just the thought alone made Ryuk disgusted with himself. Why did all of this have to happen to him? Why couldn't this have happened to some one else?

Meanwhile, from a distance Sidoh and Rem were observing Ryuk as he flopped onto the ground on his back. Rem pitied the raven-haired Shinigami as for Sidoh chuckling at the scene. Rem smacked his clothed covered shoulder, annoyed. Sidoh rubbed the spot where he was hit, glaring at the female.

"So," Sidoh began the conversation, "Ryuk is a father to a human child, eh?"

"Yes," was all that Rem said.

"How did that even happen, anyway?"

"I don't know," Rem said, "I asked him once before but he said the year 1980 is a complete blur."

"Every year's a blur when you live forever,"

"I suppose it is."

"I just still can't believe that Ryuk got away with having a relationship with a human without any punishment!"

"I think it's better this way,"

"What do you mean?"

"Harry's fate," she said crossing her arms, "since I found out I've been watching him and thinking about how things would have turned out for Harry if Ryuk wasn't his father. If he had been a complete human he wouldn't have gotten away from his abusive relatives soon enough. And if it weren't for the defense system in his wizard heritance he probably wouldn't have survived before his teen years; although the boy is quite stubborn that can be beaten out of a human, especially a child.

"If he did survive he not only would he have to live with the emotional scars, there is the pressure of fame in the wizard world he has to endure. There is a prophecy that supposedly Harry will be the savior of the wizard world to defeat the dark wizard Voldemort. Putting all of that together into one little boy is like serving up a recipe for teen suicide. But since Harry is a Shinigami we cannot see how many years he has left as a human. "

"What do you think's going to happen when the boy does die?" Sidoh questioned, "Will his Shinigami powers dissipate into nothingness and be lost forever? Or will his human spirit die and his Shinigami side takes over his body?"

"I don't have all the answers to your questions Sidoh," Rem answered. "Although your theories seem plausible, we will just have to wait and see what happens to Harry."

"Hmm," Sidoh hummed in agreement.

Several moments of silence had past. Nothing happened. Then Ryuk decided to get up and headed towards the viewers. To Rem it looked like a gong had went off in Sidoh head as he made his way in Ryuk's direction.

"What do you think you're doing?" Rem questioned to Sidoh's retreating back.

"I need to ask Ryuk a favor," answered the mummy-like Shinigami.

"Let me guess, does it have something to do with chocolate?"

Sidoh scoffed, "Pffft…no…Nesquik," then he took off towards Ryuk's direction.

"Isn't that the same thing," Rem shouted.

"Not the way I use it," Sidoh yelled back.

"Ew," Rem pinched the bridge of her nose. She wasn't even going to ask.

WOOOHOOOOOO! Chapter 9 is UP! And on my birthday :D I meant to make this chapter a LOT longer but I didn't have time with these other two stories I'm writing. I will post the first chapters to the other two stories later today, possibly the evening or late at night, so watch out for them.

Also I'm excited because today is the day "Annebelle" comes out in theaters. It's a spin-off/prequel to that haunted Raggedy Ann doll from the beginning of the "Conjuring" movie. And it's out on my BIRTHYDAY!

Anyways this chapter is my birthday gift to you. Happy Friday (I can't say happy birthday to myself, that would just be weird.).
