Aaahhh I'm so sorry about the long update ;o_o

I just got really stuck on this chapter...BUT ITS HERE SO SHUDDUP

Mordecai sighed as he listened to Benson read out the jobs for today.

After what'd happened yesterday, Mordecai'd been extra cautious around Benson. He'd tried to avoid him as best as he could but Morgan kept cutting in and he'd suddenly found himself next to his boss, flirting with him and before Benson could get a word out, Mordecai'd ran in the other direction. He'd had to sneak around corners and get Rigby to walk ahead of him; it was horrible and the worst thing was that Benson kept going to any length to talk to Mordecai when he noticed how strange the blue jay'd been acting around him.

Mordecai was so aborbed in his thoughts that he didn't realize his boss'd finished and everyone had left the steps; all except himself, Rigby and...Benson. The avian sat up straight and he started to panic. He was just in time to zone into a conversation between the gumball machine and his best bud.

"But why?"

Benson frowned. "Because I said so! Now get to work!"

Rigby mumbled something under his breath but got off the steps and walked off. Benson expression softened as soon as he looked back at Morgan and he made his way to the steps, sitting himself down next to his employee and Mordecai felt sick at how close he was. "Are you alright from what happened yesterday?"

Bensons voice was so soft and Mordecais stomach churned. "Y-Yeah, I'm fine Benson. Thanks." He looked to the side away from his boss.

"I-I just...I'm worried about you...You've been avoiding me and I was just wondering if everything's okay?"

Mordecai sucked in a breath and finally looked at his boss, moving himself away slightly. "Everything's fine. You don't need to worry."

Bensons forehead creased at how jumbled Mordecai's words'd come out and Mordecai started to grow hot from embarrassment. "Are you sure? 'Cause I'm always here if you want to talk..." Benson went to rest his hand on Mordecai's but the blue jay drew back as if the step were hot and he stood in a flash, panic running through him.

The visible shock showed on his boss's face and the avian swallowed. "Listen Benson, I appreaciate your concern, but I can take care of myself. I-I just need a break from everything okay?" His tone was slowed this time and he turned, walking off the steps and away from Benson, who was staring at him, confused.

Mordecai felt tears come to his eyes as he walked through the front door to the couch after a hard days work. He felt guilty everytime he saw the pity and worry on his boss' face and not being able to say anything just made him feel even worse. But it was for his own good if he didn't want Morgan to take over him.

Halfway through playing games, Benson appeared and he perched himself on the arm of the sofa, looking at the blue jay and waiting for him to pause the game before talking. When Mordecai saw his boss was back, he made no hesitation in standing up and walking out the room in the opposite direction, his heart sinking. But a hand on his arm spun him around and Mordecai came face to face with Benson. The avian backed away in an instant, his chest pounding.

Bensons tilted his head. "Morgan, is-is there something you're not telling me?"

Mordecai pursed his lips but he shook his head and Benson watched him run past him and out the door. This carried on for at least a week and finally, Benson caught the hint and he stopped trying to talk to Morgan, the blue jay feeling like complete crap whenever he caught sight of Bensons face before his boss turned away. He'd hurt him and that was the last thing Mordecai wanted to have to do.

After Benson'd read out the jobs, avoiding Mordecai's eyes completely, he stood and waited for everyone to leave the steps before going inside and up to his office to think.

Despite him losing contact with Morgan out of the blue, he couldn't help but wonder what'd stopped his employee from speaking to him. Maybe it was what had happened last week between them, when they'd kissed. After all, she had gone into shock and maybe that's what triggered it. Or perhaps it was when she collapsed in his office the next day and he panicked. Maybe that was a wake up call for her. Especially when she'd kissed him for the second time.

A rock settled in his stomach. She was so perfect in his eyes and it saddened him to know that she didn't want anything to do with him. It was like he'd lost everything he'd had faith in. He had hoped his love life was looking up, even if it was with an employee, but of course he was wrong to think so.

Even then, she hadn't left him a proper explanation and he sat up, tapping his fingers against his desk, his mind searching for a one. Benson didn't know for sure if it were any of what he'd thought beforehand but there was nothing else that was a possibility.

With a sigh, he realized he needed some side advice; help from someone else that wasn't him. So in an attempt to have something set in stone, he stood and walked out his office door and down the stairs, going out the park house and down the path, all the way to the coffee shop to talk to Eileen.

After all, she was the only person he could think of that would be able to help him with this. He needed a girls advice and Audrey would be no help to him; they'd called it quits a few months ago after Benson'd caught Audrey and Chuck kissing and after that...well, she hadn't spoken to him since.

The coffeeshop bell rang and Eileen looked up from putting the muffin mixture in the case on the tray and when she saw it was Benson, her face fell and she pushed the tray into the oven, shutting the door and walking over. "Morning, Benson."

"Oh, hey Eileen. Um, have you got a minute?" Benson seemed tense. He'd never really talked to Eileen and he'd only said one line to her since they'd met.

She forced a smile. He was here for Mordecai-er Morgan, she knew it. It was in his eyes. "Uh, yeah. Why, what's up?"

"I, um, I need to talk to you about something important." He fumbled for words, making sure not to blurt it out. "Can we talk in the back room?"

She looked at him. "Sure. I mean, this won't take long right? I'm working by myself 'cause my co-workers off sick so..."

"No, this'll be quick, I promise."

Eileen felt relieved at that but still, she lead him to the room at the back and her and Benson sat on the same stools her and Mordecai'd sat at not a week earlier.

"So...what's been troubling you, Benson?"

The man sighed. "It's, um, it's about a girl."

"Okay..."

Benson paused and he swallowed, avoiding her eyes. "She's actually not just a girl. She's uh she's my employee."

Eileen felt sick at that information but she knew it was Mordecai so she willed herself to relax. Despite not getting a harsh response at the mention of a relationship between boss and employee, Benson still felt saddened at saying it aloud. He saw Eileen urging him to continue so she wasn't totally phased from his confession and he carried on, a bit more confidence in his words now that he knew he could trust someone. "When she first came to the park, I fell in love with her and..."

And Benson spilt his heart out to the girl for the next few minutes, Eileen on her stool and listening intently despite already knowing most of it from Mordecai himself. Still, she nodded and payed attention. When Benson'd finished, a pause followed while Eileen thought about what to say to him, but a beep from her watch made her look at it in surprise.

"Oh, I forgot, I put the muffins in the oven before you got here."

The girl slipped off her seat and went out the back room and Benson had no choice but to follow. He stood by the counter, looking as awkward as ever, watching Eileen put on oven mits before turning it off and getting the tray out.

"Sorry for the interruption, Benson." The girl apologized as she placed it on the counter and covered it with a teatowel. Turning back to him, she said "Maybe we could get a couple coffees and talk the rest of this over?"

10 minutes later, the two were back in the room, sipping coffees in silence, till Benson cupped his in his hands and cleared his throat. Eileen, seeing he was cueing to speak, did the same with her drink and when he saw she was ready to listen, he drew a sharp breath.

"So...what do you think I should do?"

"Well, from what you've told me, I think you're becoming clingy with her; kind of obsessive."

Benson went red hot at those words but nonetheless, he payed attention.

"And Mord-I mean Morgan just wants some space. She just needs a break from what's been going on. Give her a few days and then talk to her." Eileen smiled at him, hoping her words gave Benson some new light at the situation but his eyes were on the floor and she saw he was hesitating, choosing his next words carefully.

"Do you..." And here, he slowly looked up at Eileen. "Do you think you could...pass on a message to her? Just to let her know that I care about her?"

Eileen swallowed. Knowing Bensons feelings for him-er her, she knew the message would be something along the lines of sweet and kind and just something that Mordecai would repulse at. But from what Mordecai had told her, it seemed that Morgan had a tendecy to interrupt Mordecai's persona so if he read the message, it would be directed to his female counterpart.

"Uh...sure, Benson. What'd you have in mind?"

The gumball machine felt a shy smile pull across his lips. "Well...
